Q&A Xposed framework - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello experts ?? I'm curious about the xposed framework I found a few guides but I'm not sure which one to follow . Also I saw that xposed framework cause various problems on Samsung stock roms .Any help will be appreciated.

For first, you need to know what is Xposed Framework, (Google or ask for other members, sorry) after that, download the Xposed Installer and install it.
Some versions like 5.1.1 don't have a stable version, but you can try it at your own risk! Use Xposed and your modules with moderation and be sure that you are using the correct module for you version.
It's simple!

You only need to follow ONE guide if you are on stock TW ROM, this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463
Simple enough. Just install the Alpha4 apk from rovo's topic (only the apk, no zip file) and then from recovery flash the zip package made by Arter, Krait V5 (you have N9005 right?)
And no, there is no issue, at least nothing worth mentioning. The only issue I see is when you use the Soft Reboot features from Xposed itself the Samsung logo (boot animation) seems to go really dim, so that is probably a brightness issue, other than that I haven't noticed anything and I am using it since Arter made it possible. And of course you should be on a Deodexed ROM to make it work.
Hope you got your answer. In case of further doubt just ask away.

Yes, no issue!
I'm sorry, the only issue that I have is on Gravity Box, a little time ago, but I'm trying to use it now and it's working fine, but with some knowing bugs from the module version that I've installed.

Xposed / Framework

not sure if theres anything out there for the 230nu? but I was curious if there was anyway to get the framework for this device, Ive never used exposed other than a slight dabble with it on my Galaxy Note i717 ! Anyone have any knowldege of this ? I am rooted , and I do have TWRP , however the TWRP I have is useless as it cant do anything! If theres another copy of recovery out there Id be willing to try that out as well, I dont actually use the Tab all that much , I have too much fun on my OnePlus One
I don't really understand your question all to well, but to my knowledge the Xposed framework should work on all devices. I have the 8" tab 4 and Xposed is installed as are multiple modules. The xposed framework is just an APK, which I believe makes it universal. Hopefully this helps with your question.
Just find the xposed apk, move it to your device and install the apk. Then you should install/update the framework and reboot your device. Should be completely done with everything after that besides installing whatever modules you want. I'd suggest checking the subforum for it and you should have all your answers there.
I've never used xposed before but I thought it would be easier than flashing a ROM. Where do I get it an SM-T230NU & what are the best modules?
Just search for the xposed forum on XDA and then you download it. I use wanam xposed module to kill camera sound and to do a few other useful tweaks and one or two other modules just for giggles like the hodor module.

There's a warning before trying to install the module. Forget exactly what it said but something to the effect of not compatible with the system.

The warning msg says "xposed is not compatible w/ android apk version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a). Etc...
Pm me if you want me to email you the screenshot of the whole thing. Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread... I just recently picked up a TAB 4 (SM-T230NU) and also am having some confusion on installing xposed. I am rooted, and using Android 4.4.2. When using the APK it will not allow me to install the framework, with the message "xposed is not compatible w/ android apk version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a). Etc..." ...
Anyone able to help me on getting Xposed on this device WITHOUT updating my android version?

Xposed Framework for TW Lollipop: Confirmed!

Hello everybody, good news!
I'm not sure if most people read this site on an "actual PC", or are in the habit of glancing over to the XDA Portal posts... one jumped out at me today though, as a very unexpected surprise So, it's confirmed: the Xposed framework can be modified (requires editing some .jar files... not exactly an easy task, but the link to the guide thread seems like it has the full instructions kind of scattered about the thread despite the OP being a bit "sparse"), to run on TW based Lollipop ROMs!
Not sure if y'all are into that sort of thing p), but here's the thread with instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/guide-xposed-framework-samsung-lollipop-t3113143
Personally, I just have to digest this for a bit... I'm desperately in need of a clean install (phone is several kinds of jacked-up atm, due to some... "bold experimentation"), and I actually just got a 128GB micro SD, of which I'm planning on partitioning 16GB of as ext4 for my planned MultiSystem installation (the dev posted in this forum, but hasn't yet(?) replied in the thread... here's the main thread for that tool for those who are interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...eplacement-t3102395/post60583768#post60583768. Anyway, I was definitely planning on flashing ANK4 then clean install DK 4.2 (I'm pretty averse to "early-adoption", particularly wrt major OS updates and tech hardware... that's how I roll on my PC, having learned pretty quickly "the hard way" that, in general, an "integer" update of a OS needs at least a couple bug fix updates in order to... "prevent disruptions to my workflow", I suppose.) I know, it's hard to think of installing LP on our phones as "early-adoption", but has anyone had a "bug-free" experience with stock COD6? I did find it quite interesting that 5.1.1 for the S6 Edge leaked like 3 days after T-mobile pushed out the N4 update (the last of the carriers to update the past and present "best" phone one can buy IMO). I think that occurrence gave us a glimpse into where the priorities of the OEM and our carrier lie.
Anyway, after writing this and recalling the degree to which our fantastic devs have been tearing LP apart I've decided that update time, for me, has come I'm going to base my MultiSystem install on COD6... thank you to every developer/contributor who have worked extremely hard on making our LP update "usable"... also HUGE THANKS to @darkera13 for his guide to get Xposed running on TW LP. The incompatibility really made my experience testing out the update feel "off". Like everyone, I have a handful of apps/tweaks that I need to run... for me, some of the most "vital" are Xposed modules. Obviously there are many modules that won't be compatible... yet... but the fact that Xposed on TW LP has been achieved, and the base ROM version dictates which other ROMs that one can install with the MultiSystem tool, total change of plans Now I'll be "catching up" to the rest of the community here and installing COD6, which will hopefully be the last time that I mess with ODIN for a while
It would be great if everyone who tries out this early version of Xposed could post their experiences: any problems (or solutions :good with installation, modules that they've found to work as well as any that didn't or caused some sort of problem
Just want to say a special thanks to @bri315317 and @SICKMADE for all of the fantastic work that they've done on COD6! Excitement :good:
Found a thread from that thread with an apk. Someone posted working on 910t so I'm gonna give this a go thank you jazz

[UNOFFICIAL] Xposed for Samsung Lollipop by arter97
Awesome to hear that a few of you have got it working! I just finished my LP update and ROM installation I haven't done much aside from from restoring apps from TB yet, but based on that, I feel sufficiently qualified to state that LP is the best Android OS EVAR!!
I was just wondering which recovery and version are those who are running it using? I just ask because the guide recommends Philz CWM, but I'm currently/always have used TWRP on my N4 (and would prefer to continue...) Thanks in advance!
If you had previously installed xposed make sure you disable all modules before flashing, as some modules are incompatible and may cause a boot loop.

Got Xposed working great on my phone. No issues so far
The install was successful. However the modules i wanted to use didn't work i.e. Complete action plus, wanam xposed, nfc screen off.
Has everyone used a deodexed rom or did you get this working on stock?
Deodexed rom. It doesn't work on stock yet.
Anyone know of a list of modules working on this version? I've seen lists of working modules on 5.1 and not sure if it's the same on 5.0.1 TW.
I'm just glad app settings is working well. ?

Your ROM needs to be deodexed according to the guide that I linked to in the OP. If you check that out though, I believe that there are a couple of links (I think in the second post) to tools or instructions to deodex any ROM.
I installed Xposed yesterday I don't think that any of the installation methods are terribly difficult, but I used the two flashable zips in the PopRocks ROM thread. There's A LOT of info in the first two posts in that thread, so the xposed stuff is a bit hard to find, but I think they were near the middle(?) of the second post. You can just search the first page for the word "Xposed" and you'll find the two zips put together by @note4me. That should work on any ROM, I flashed the zips on Dynamic Pop and :good:! Just make sure to grab both zips and flash the one that has "sdk" in the name last. I used TWRP 2.8.4.0, and had no problems
Here's a list of the modules that I have running successfully so far:
Amplify :good:
BootManager
BubbleUPnP
Coolify Flat :good:
Greenify (boost mode) :good:
PlayPermissionsExposed
UnbelovedHosts :good:
Unicon :good:
Xposed Additions :good: :good: :good: (Need some key remapage!)
Oh gosh... anyway you could post up those links?
At work and I just dont want to get irritated. (My work not the forum)

Center Status Bar Clock .buildprop Mod?

I have the straight talk variant (sm-s920l). Since we cannot install Xposed, I was wondering if anyone knew a way to modify the build.prop to accomplish the center status bar clock?
Maybe?
http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/center-status-bar-clock-android-lollipop-0158908/
I found this .zip that centers the clock, but it would need to be flashed...
Is it possible to flash this .zip with flashify?
(Credit for mod .zip goes to Dallas Thomas)
I don't know about that zip file, but I do know for a fact that we can have Xposed on our SM-S920L's as I have it on mine. First check this thread and grab the fixed version of TWRP and Odin linked to therein. Then grab @dkcldark's unofficial Xposed v85 from this post and flash it using TWRP once you have it installed. Then grab the Xposed installer apk from here. Once everything is installed and ready to go, you can use the Xposed installer to install the Wanam Xposed for Android 5.x.x. module which has clock position settings under the Notifications panel header, along with many other useful settings that can be explored. Since Gravity Box doesn't work on this device, this module is the next best thing.
***EDIT***
Upon investigation of that zip file, it contains a modified SystemUI.apk file from the Nexus 5 that most definitely WILL NOT WORK on a SM-S920L.

"That's due to Samsung's changes to ART. There are unofficial builds that work around this by deodexing and adjusting the ROM."
So yeah after the installation, boot up will take long but only once, and you'll probably lose 1GB of storage space .

newbie question this so forgive me being so niave.
i have a samsung galaxy note 4...its my old phone i have as a spare.
at one stage i had lineage os on it and it was fantastic, slick, fast, clean with superb battery life....but the lineage os for the note 4 was unofficial and was pre-rooted...which meant some apps dont work... snapchat an obvious one.
so... what are my options on roms that are stock android like...which wont be rooted and be stable ?
thanks in advance for any replies.

Air rom unfortunately you can't use some apps due to prerooted rom.
The first rom I used it but if you use any note 7 port the old ui seems outdated. I wish I could unroot someway the Air Rom which I use for daily driver but unfortunately I can't use an app that I need because it's prerooted.

Why dont U ask dev to Unroot it 4 u???? Give it a try. And as always U can unroot it by installing non rooted kernel after installing rom or inject non rooted kernel into Rom.zip. But, ask Dev, rom is great.
And, Note 7 Ports 4 me r better than s8 etc ports

When you are saying some apps are you talking about safetynet getting tripped? Why not just flash Spacelemon non-rooted and flash latest magisk with prop hide module to get it to work. I was able to pass safetynet with the latest version of AirRom at the time.

No worries for you being a newbie, but I just wanted to clarify that you can actually use restricted apps like Snapchat (created a burner account since I don't use it), Netflix, and Android Pay, etc.
Requirements:
- Lastest build from Bonuzzz (Mar.)
- Some basic knowledge on working Magisk
- Download Terminal app
- Possibly a third party file manager (ex. Solid Explorer, ES Files Explorer, etc.)
Steps:
- You need to download this and flash it in your recovery to remove pre-root from your device. https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/su/addonsu-remove-15.1-arm-signed.zip
- Head over to the Magisk thread and download the latest version of Magisk (16.0). https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
- Flash Magisk in your recovery and and open the Magisk Manager and update it when prompted.
- Head over back to the Magisk thread and download the MagiskHide Props Config module. https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-simple-t3765199
- Open back up Magisk Manager click on the three dashes on the top left and click on the modules tab. Press the button that shows a plus sign and locate the module that you downloaded/saved on your device.
- It should then start flashing through the manager and prompt you to reboot.
- After reboot, download any terminal app (preferably Termux) and open it.
- Type in "Su" and grant it root access. Next, type "props" and it should open up onto an interface.
- Type in "1" to change your device fingerprint and type in "f" to pick a certified fingerprint.
- From here, you can choose whichever certified fingerprint your device wants to be recognized as (I used Samsung Note 5).
- After choosing your certified fingerprint, it will ask you to reboot.
- After reboot, head back into Magisk Manager and click on the SafetyNet Check (It might prompt you to download something). Eventually you should get the same test like in my picture.
- (Optional) Head back into recovery and wipe dalvik cache/cache.
Hopefully this helps out on your problem on apps not working or not letting you install them. Also, this can work for others too that don't use lineage but other Custom ROMs (AirRom, Nemesis, etc.). All you need to do is just install the latest SpaceLemon Non-rooted Kernel or manually unroot and continue with the steps on "Heading over to Magisk Threads". I do hope that this worked for others, and sorry if the instructions are either too long or really complicated on following.

For me the only solution was to flash the no root stock deodexed rom you wrote above earlier today. With air rom and doing every step to pass safetynet correctly the app recognises root whatever I do.
Just saying, but please don't create a thread like this on the Android Development page again.
