CleanSlate Kernel for HTC M9+Hit the Thanks button if you like the work being done, or donate to the dev:
DONATION HERE
The authentic stable Sense kernel experience with the best custom and most innovative new features brought to you by tbalden to enhance your HTC experience. Kept as stable and rock solid as possible with no drastic modifications, only new features.
About the Kernel:
- Sense kernel for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop / base 1.86 down to 1.61 (1.88/1.89/1.90 base is not working with this kernel, will freeze!)
- Original sources: hiaumltuhl-3.10.61-g3681195.zip
- kernel sources: https://github.com/tbalden/android_kernel_htc_m9pw
- Notable features:
--- Fingerprint mod to add four different functions at max (e.g. Back/Home/AppSwitch/Screen off)
--- Pocket wake prevention for Fingerprint wake (if proximity sensor covered, in pocket, you won't wake it up accidentally by fingerprint sensor touch)
--- Laptop fastcharge - so you can charge with your laptop at a maximum of 1000 mA
- Installable from custom recovery (e.g. TWRP)
Credits & Thanks:
- HTC/MTK for the kernel base and HTC for the phone
- amarullz for his fantastic Aroma installer
Needed:
- HTC One M9+ (m9pw) Unlocked (S-On or S-Off)
- Custom Recovery (e.g. TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/one-m9-general/recovery-twrp-2-8-6-0-english-m9pw-t3116099)
Installation:
1- Make sure your phone is unlocked and with custom recovery
2- Download the kernel installer and copy them to your M9+ phone through MTP, or download them on your phone
3- Boot your phone to recovery mode (Power off the phone, then long Vol down + Power, select Boot to Bootloader, there: select Boot to Recovery)
(3.1 - In TWRP make a backup of your phone, in case you want to revert. At least boot and system partitions need to be backed up, those are modified while installing this kernel and its /system/usr/keylayout modifications)
4- In TWRP (or other custom recovery) select Install
5- Browse tbalden-CleanSlate-kernel-m9pw-xyz.zip , select it
6 - Carefully select which type of fingerprint mod you'd like to set up, all options behave a bit differently, and lots of options to select from. The default option's workings and how-to is detailed in a youtube video.
7- Select the timeout for double taps. The short timeout means you'll have to be quicker doublepressing the fingerprint scanner, long timeout mean you have a bit more time.
8- Select if you want to enable laptop fastcharge option
9- Proceed with installation. After it succeeds Reboot.
10- Enjoy, share your experience, hit the Thanks button, rate the thread and if you find it worthy, buy me a beer donating

Learning Fingerprint mod
Here's a video about the default Fingerprint mod settings and how it works:
Remember: if mod is enabled, on the Lockscreen, always use Double tap for Screen off, long tap is reserved for authentication with all options of the mod.

good to work! thanks

Good job! Thank you.
I've got one possible bug report:
after installing the MOD, I'm not able to disable wake up by touching fingerprint scanner. I am used to put phone in my pocket and I found that from time to time the scanner can be triggered by accident and thus power the screen on. Therefore, I used to disable the wake up function from fingerprint scanner.

indeed, that's one drawback of this mod. I'm aware of this, and it's currently given.
I'll think if this can be resolved someway... i have an idea
I left it like that because the keymap modifications resulted in this., but I think it can be worked out...also i love to go to the last state with a simple long tap on the fingerprint scanner, or wake the lockscreen to check notifications without the power button. But well, it'd be better to keep it optional.

OP updated, new version 1.0.1

@weianhsu thanks for your feedback. I went even further as you can see, connected pocket detection of Screen gesture double tap wake to the Fingerprint sensor wake of HTC. Now if proximity is detected, you can't wake up device with fingprint wake. As it should have been by default in HTC version, imho. Also fixed the reported issue. If you switch off Fingerprint sensor wake in Settings/Fingerprint, now it no longer will wake the device.

Thank you @tbalden , those MODs should have been stock.
It has been a great plus for M9+.

This is amazing. Could this possibly be ported to the HTC One Max fingerprint scanner?

I wish I knew, I don't know anything about the one Max fingerprint scanner driver. Unfortunately it's quite expensive device on eBay still price in gold, if it were not too expensive (900+$, more expensive than one m9+)I'd get one and tinker with it probably... this one m9+ was a fortune too to get, import and start development, and as it's not yet too thriving in popularity, donations are slowly covering a fraction of it.
Some ideas
Isn't there already gestures for the scanner on stock rom of one Max? Or some developer who modded kernel or rom with something similar?

Hi tbalden,
Don't own a Max myself but I have bought from this eBay seller before and he is reliable, if your interested in a Max check this out: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161708488379&alt=web
Also I'm importing a couple of M9+'s in a couple of weeks into Australia so your ROM will be on them both, looking forward to giving it a go.

Thanks for pointing out. That's a reasonable price. If my "gadget financial balance" gets a bit more balanced on the m9+ front I might rethink about the Max, but I'm a bit busted paying the damned VAT that was unavoidable in the European Union import process.. anyway I don't regret jumping the m9+ wagon, it's slowly starting to get the attention it deserves it's now even on xda links too http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-e...brings-fingerprint-scanner-mod-to-htc-one-m9/ it's really a premium experience if one's not a die hard qcom fan or hardcore gamer. It's smooth sailing for me, even the camera is on the positive side now on latest updates... compared with previous phones, as I take most photos outside while on excursion in daylight, this is the best, most real color close phone camera experience I ever had , counting in mt4gs, one X, m7 and opo

Thanks for the reply, I was going back and forth between the M9 & M9+, the GPU is my only concern, the most graphic intensive game I play is "Unpossible" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acceleroto.unpossible and I would be interested how it runs on the M9+, it's a paid app though but if you anyone could try it to see how it runs I would appreciate it, just make sure you refund it before 15min, or get it from other sources lol.

Unpossible goes fluid for the first minute then I hit the wall, but I think it must be just as good later. Most racer games run really nice on m9+

Thanks for that, been watching YouTube videos showing its performance even with heavy games is seems OK.
Also watched a video for this kernel and it to looks good will give it a go also.
One other thing, been searching xda to see if it's possible to change the splash screen on the M9+? Plenty of posts for the M9 but none for the +, is it something you have tried and would the M9 one work you think? Cheers.

Thanks so much for this mod. I enjoy it very much but I noticed after installing the mod, I can no longer wake my phone with finger print scanner although the proximity sensor is not covered. Can this be solved?

Could you please go into details, which settings you choose in the installer? No issue with that here, as you can see in the video. Are you using a flip cover with something over the sensor, even if transparent?

I have one time with it. I couldn't wake up my M9+ by fingerprinter until I press the power button. Immediately sleep the phone and put my finger on the fingerprint button,it worked as usual.
Sometime I can only wake the screen and can't unlocked the device in rarely occasion.
I still enjoy this mod.

The first might happen because of either deep sleep (screen tap wake happens to be ineffective too rarely because of that) or although rarely happens but I press the button from a wrong angle.
The second too can happen but that's nothing to do with the mod, it's happening sometimes with stock kernel too

Thanks for this mod. Not sure if it is my imagination but the fingerprint sensor seems more responsive after applying the mod.

From erishasnobattery:
We will keep all bugs/fixes updated in the first few posts here.
Please, post a bug once. If you have a potential fix, PM me. I will test it and get it added to this post.
Let's not have a repeat of last time. If you can't use the search function, don't use our ROMs.
Also, if it's not posted in one of our posts, it's not an approved mod. We take absolutely zero responsibility for anything that happens.
Known Issues:
There numerous graphical bugs, such as misalignment and colors being off. Please, unless it is affecting the usability of the phone, don't post them. (We are squashing these as time goes)
Pin screen and password unlock screen are sized incorrectly
Some fonts/images may appear a little fuzzy on the home screens. At this point, with the tools available, there isn't much we can do with it.
No Verizon VM notfications. Base ROM issue. It won't be fixed without a new leak.
Force close in music app. (trouble reproducing)
[*]Camcorder only supports up to 14mbps recording. Anything higher will cause it to close. To be included with RC4.
No .wma Playback.
G-sensor Calibration Issue - Kernel Related. (Talk to your friendly kernel devs)
[Watch app not working quite right yet.
Bad strings in the Calendar Widget. (trouble reproducing)
Twitter causing FC on phone calls.
Speed dial 2 now selectable, but only dials 2....
Car dock needs a bit more love.
If your screen is staying off, slow to turn back on, general weirdness when coming off a sleep state, try increasing your minimum clock speed. I have the best balance or performance/battery at 368/368 for screen off and 368/1.2 normal.
The Manage applications page is freaking out. See Below.
Patches:
6 Bar signal - Official BAMF mod. THANKS rbox!!!
Disable wake on Volume Courtesy of bp328i.
Looking for Netflix, My Verizon, or VVM? Arcanexvi put this little thread together to keep them all current and working for everyone.
Free scrolling app drawer, courtesy of ihtfp
Help! My Manage Applications page is freaking out!
The base leak, for whatever reason, has a serious problem with populating the applications list.
At the bottom of the screen, there is a 2 tone gray and green bar. There is a small animation that appears once everything is loaded above the gray portion.
DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT, modify any apps in any way shape or form if this has not appeared. Do not force stop, uninstall, clear data, or clear cache when they are flickering. This means the package has not been fully loaded and linked. You might think you are clearing data on Angry birds when in fact it is Accounts and settings.
I got a little overzealous on one last night and ended up having to do a complete wipe and reinstall.

Good thing the girlfriend has to work in an hour. I'd just blame it on her anyway, she was the one on the call last night when it froze up.
Thanks again Team, you guys have done some awesome work and it is appreciated.
You guys know your work is amazing when you have to upload to 2 servers to try to prevent crashing.

One of the best abductions ever LOL

My First impressions with XXLP2

For noobs.
AOSP lovers and TW haters, there is a ← button in your keyboard.
I already mentioned about previously leaked XXKPA before, so no point mentioning those points again, instead read it,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1440011
• Better than KPA, more bugs are fixed. Still a Beta, of course. Progress is good.
• Phone calls were great. In call earpiece volume was great, as well as speaker, NR was there to be manually turn on/off.
• Now maybe I am wrong but I thing the Vibration intensity for call alerts was fainter than previous release, but if you check it under settings then it was very strong. Weird. Please give feedback on this.
• Same incoming call UI, call answer/reject buttons doesn't animate.
• Phone signal, 3G/H+, WiFi, BT everything worked fine.
• There was NO problem while switching networks to different mode, GSM, Auto etc. This ain't a pros.
• FM radio does work, worked before as well.
• 480x800 walls works well, LWP is definitely smoother than before, can't say if it's same smooth as GB!
• Lock screen ICS animation is still weird.
• Market worked on first try, downloading is working too. No problem here.
• Face unlock does work. OMG, what a time wasting gimmick is this thing.
• Swype is present. But I don't know if it's only me but the default Samsung KB was in QWERTZ format instead of QWERTY.
• GPS lock is fine.
• Same email app (which is poor imo, horrible background choice and you can't change it), damn. GMail app is same as well, no Multi touch support. Now I don't like it.
• 1080P videos (I tried with FLC) were horrible to watch, lagged all the way. I am sure they haven't done anything with it since last release.
• Camera in full res and VR at 1080p works fine usually.
• Same Missed call and SMS notification icon in LS.
• Touch keys does glow up this time.
• Call log entries does show a compact mode if you tap on a particular number. This wasn't present on KPA. A big relief for me.
• Haptic feedback works.
• Now the browser, all the options are there as before, with scrolling has gone much faster and smoother now, you can now scroll a long page with one or two slides now. It should be a big plus point for me and the users who uses Stock browser all time.
I think Sammy doesn't know that there is an 'Exit' word in dictionary
• Development option is present, very normal.
• Connection with PC worked at first go.
• The elastic scrolling all over the UI is a pleasing thing to play with, Hardware acceleration is at effect, a great job done by Samsung, already, still more than two months to go to keep their word.
• Battery life seems good. Lost only 3% in an overnight duration of 9 hours. GPS was on all time. However Standby time isn't a thing to consider battery backup IMO.
• There was a feature in the stock dialer, don't know what's it called actually, with which you just need to press the number keys and it would search for the contacts going by that digits you've entered, but that feature is missing. And it's a PITA for me who has to use the dialer all time to call him or her.
For exmaple: If you need to dial John, then just pressing 5646 in dialer would show that contact, as 5646 contains the word J, O, H & N. But that feature is lacking here and should be included back in Final release.
••• My Conclusion:
I am keeping it for a while and this definitely is a DAILY USE ROM.
Nuff said.
I'll add some more points and a short video with LP2 later. In the mean time screenshots added.
PS- A video is coming later, already uploaded but deleted from YouTube due to long length !
Regards.
PS- Please come and share your feedbacks with this please, I like to be a noob and definitely missed points.
TIA.

Thanks for making another thread. Three threads with "XXLP2" on the first page of this forum wasn't enough, so I'm glad it's now four.
I have to ask! That ridicusly sticky scrolling in like the Facebook app, is that fixed? U said that it was fixed in browser but is it fixed in all apps?
The home button doesn't seem to work for me. is there some setting that needs to be enabled ?
Also none of the lockscreens work either. and there is no task manager as well..

I am uploading a video just to show the whole system wide experience, it's a bit long as I've no intention to show any specific problems or features, just a normal video to check how would you feel with TW+ICS. I should upload another video showing only the problems/bugs, as the added features are already been mentioned. Lets see when I get free time for that.
You guys using this firmware please come and post your feedback here, any problems or bugs or any cool thing you've noticed etc.
Thanks in advance.
there is a call answer-reject animation
once you hold your finger on answer it turns into a larger circle just like on the lockscreen. moving your finger out of that circle answers the call.
I installed LP2 sometime back and it did work fine till I enabled face unlock.
I was able to unlock couple of times and after that Face unlock wouldn't work and worse, the pattern code also didn't. Looked like the entire service crashed.
Back to stock but apart from that, stable release.

Concept: HD2.5

Hi XDA,
I just want to start of by saying that the HD2 is probably the best thing I ever bought. Still, after more than 2 years, it remains a highly functioning phone. I sometimes run Android (TBD Sensation XL) on it, and sometimes Windows Phone 7.5. (The latest version by Pdaimatejam is amazing, and 100% working, including multitouch and camera) Both amazing roms which run extremely well on our aging phone.
There is on thing, however, which bothers me. This might seem to many as a minor flaw, but to me, keeping a perfect design philosophy in mind, really is a dealbreaker sometimes. This is the fact that the illustrations on the buttons don't represent their true functions in both OS's. The other day I brought my damaged back cover back to life by giving it a brushed metal finish (http://blog.whitesites.com/Chrome-HTC-HD2-Battery-Cover-Tutorial__634103488469591250_blog.htm) Now this got me thinking, what if we could somehow modify the HD2 in order to make it feel like a new phone, which natively runs Android and/or Windows Phone. Together with the chrome back cover it would look awesome!
Now, there's already a tutorial for chroming the back cover. However, to modify the illustrations on the buttons would be more difficult. First and foremost, Android and Windows Phone bother require different buttons. Windows phone requires a power button, a camera button, a back button, a home/start button and a search button. While Android (looking at Sensation XL/Runnymede) requires a power button, a menu button, a search button, a home button and a back button. Both configurations, in my opinion, are optimized for their respective OS's. And for those who might not know, the HD2 has a call button, a home button, a windows start button, a back button and a power/call end button. I haven't really figured out how to actually modify the buttons themselves. Possibly, some sort of extra though stickers would do. These would maybe also allow to be removed, so the phone can be sold again. But, XDA, all difficulties aside, behold, the HD2.5:

}
Looks awesome, doesn't it?
The button configuration, in my opinion, makes sense for both OS's (WP and Android). Let's talk about them from right to left. The on the far right is obviously the power button. It's function is straightforward. The conscientious reader might notice that the original HD2 also has a call end icon on it. Well, it doesn't fulfill this function in both OS's so I removed it. The button next to the power button is the search button. Also, the function of it is self-explanatory. The original HD2 lacks a search button, but in my opinion WP and Android work well with one. In the middle there's the home button. In Android it would redirect the user to the home screen (duh), and in Windows Phone it would bring the user to the start menu. A reasonably representative icon for both right? To the left of the home button is the back button. Again, a necessity for both OS's and the function of which is pretty self-explanatory as well. In Windows Phone it serves a more powerful function in my opinion though And finally, to the far left, there's a peculiar icon. Let's zoom in to have a closer look:
I actually came up with this icon while brain-storming for an icon which means both 'camera' and 'menu/options'. Well, tadaa. While using Windows Phone it would represent a shutter, which would more accurately describe its function than 'camera' anyway. In Android it would have the menu/options function, which makes sense, as it also looks like a gear. Like it? And while only a mock-up, I think it's the best solution for the problem of button configuration. Oh, and the order of the buttons (which could have been any, obviously) is thought through. It's based on the Windows Phone order, with the less important ones (power and shutter/options) on the sides.
Here's a mock-up of it running Windows Phone:
And here's one of it running Android with sense 3.5 (Sensation XL):
They both look amazing right?
I hope you guys like this concept. AND, if anybody can figure out a way to get the icons on the buttons (as said before, maybe some sort of sticker) please let me know! And by the way, the actual function of the buttons in the OS is easily changeable. In Android it can easily be cooked in, and there are numerous apps in the marketplace for it. In WP, the extra settings app by Cotulla does the job.
We modified the HD2 so thoroughly that we might as well modify its name as well! HD2.5!
Thanks devs btw!
Looks really nice! for the buttons; Maybe we could rub the icons off with white spirits (dont know whether it would work) then use some transfers to put teh new icons on? or some stickers would do the job but I reckon transfers would be a more professional finish

I don't think we can rub it off; I assume the shapes are deeply engraved into the button strip. Since they conduct light? or is it just a finish ? And a sticker would block the light.
I did a random grind on mine. The picture doesnt show it too well but it looks awesome and with the Pdaimatejam (the best thing thats ever happened to the HD2) it's a whole new phone.
The HD2 has light pipes for the buttons.. so you could paint black over them then silkscreen the white icons, but you'd loose the ability to have light up buttons.
Hmm... I have a silkscreen department here at work, I might give that a try.
Surely the place for any stickers is in the gap between the buttons and the screen where it says HTC
Nice Idea though.
@theDante, last time I did silkscreen printing was at school, ink everywhere good luck.
whats the construction on the buttons, might it be easier to get replacements?
Hi guys, thanks for all the attention! I have also submitted this to the portal, to help it get more attention. Please do so as well! Wouldn't it be awesome if we could make this happen? I'm more than willing to modify mine btw, never going resell it anyway!
I don't like the back cover at all, but the buttons are really, really nice.
I hope you guys find a way to do it!

FYI XBmod will release easy hardkey remapping in his next ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22215801&postcount=1328. Also in android there are many choices of softkey mods see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413582.
I am not entirely sure I would want the camera button on the left. With Yuki's NODO rom I had many blank photos which were shot from in my pocket, although I think you can disable the camera-on function. It is the LHS and RHS buttons which are more likely to be accidentally pressed. A camera button is needed though for panorama shots.
I hate to throw any spanners but thought the above worth mentioning.

[Q] Does LG G2 Front Touch Buttons have multi-tasking button?

Hi,
By default, multi-tasking on LG G2 works by holding the home button.
Actually, I love Nexus' buttons because I'm a sucker for multi-tasking and I hate pressing & holding/waiting.

I was planning on buying Nexus 5, after hating the multi-tasking on my current Samsung S3, but it seems LG G2 is a better choice in terms of battery, screen and also camera.
So my question is, can I put that multi-tasking button on LG G2? Holding & waiting is a deal breaker for me.
Custom rom?
this is not q and a section
but if u root u can probably ad a different button and remap it
You can customize your navigation buttons to some degree on the stock ROM, and I'm pretty sure Recent Apps is one of the buttons you can configure.
Though personally I like Halo))) for multi tasking a lot more. But you will need a custom ROM for that.

Nope. This phone is highly customized and I don't want to lose features.
Also I'm afraid of dealing any kind of invalidated warranty issues. I wouldn't use a custom rom for this phone, instead I'd buy Nexus 5 if that's the case.

That customization option of LG G2 is why I asked this question. At this youtu.be/YLS9T2oFsWY?t=25s YouTube Video I see that there's no multi-tasking touch button option. See the attachment #1 here please.
However, on the attachment #2, from this youtu.be/lKUUkGEs5hc?t=59s YouTube Video the guy seems to have multi-tasking button. He commented that he uses "GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys", but I don't know if that app made the multi-tasking button or it can be enabled without a 3rd party app.
I'm still thinking it can't be done without a custom rom. I'd like to know this as certain before buying a phone, so if anyone knows I'd be glad.
Root, install Xposed Framework and buy Xposed G2 premium features. You will then be able to use the Recents button.
Rooting would void the warranty as well, so that's not an option for him.
Unfortunately I don't have a stock ROM to go and test for you. I've got mine all set up the way I want and flashing back would mess up all of my custom notification sounds even with a nandroid backup.
GMD Auto Hide also requires root access, so I think you're boned either way. If you aren't willing to make the modifications to get your device working the way you'd like, then I don't think this is the phone for you. I hope you find one that has the default features you're looking for.

There is literally no other way than at least rooting and following my steps. I believe a clean flash will reset the root flag so his warranty will be alright (perhaps also selecting Unroot in SuperSU before clean flashing).
What you see circled in red below is the option button, not multi tasking unfortunately

I believe if you need to root a new model phone at the day one , you shouldn't buy it at all.
My rooting experience
Once I was using HTC Desire, its volume down button was stuck. It wasn't starting up, because volume down button makes it enter the boot menu. It was also rooted and wasn't able to unroot it in any way since it wasn't opening. Even the boot menu was not working because the volume down made the menu continuously select the next item.
Thank god the warranty service replaced the phone entirely. If they would have started it up, the warranty would be probably voided.
And I don't live in U.S., warranty services much more *****y around here. You cannot even return a product after you open the sealed box, even if you opened it in the store. It goes to technical service, gets approved for refunding, takes weeks. Less customer rights around here.
That's why I will never pay hundreds of $$$ to some phone I need to get into risk. Also I don't have time for it. I start rooting the phone, then customizing, then more options, more apps, other roms, it takes too much time. I prefer to use what I buy with a clear head. If it's not for me, I wouldn't buy it. So I'm here to understand if this phone is for me or not. This is how I feel. I believe many of you believe otherwise, but we are not all the same.
I disagree with your opinion, the great thing about Android is that if you can think it, you can do it.
But I understand what you are saying and it is your money and your choice. Ultimately, what makes you happy is the most important thing to consider when making a purchase, and it sounds like this feature is a deal breaker for you.
Sent from CAMACHO, my Verizon G2 (VS980) running PAC ROM 4.3.
I'm not from the US either, so I am also subject to harsher warranties.
However, what you are requesting is not something ordinary, and definitely not something offered by other manufacturers (everyone uses a preset layout of buttons, the G2 is AFAIK the first phone with a customizable navigation bar out of the box). It is normal that you will have to modify the stock ROM for that, and this kind of customizing is the very heart of Android. If you take risks, you can get amazing results.

I disagree that what I want is not ordinary. LG G2 allows customizing the buttons. They could have easily let users run an app when tapping a custom button (there are apps to show multi-tasking window up) or let users execute a command from a list.
Allowing customization but presenting only a few options is just meaningless.
For example instead of Quick Notes button, or opening notification panel button there putting a search button might help some people, like HTC had in previous phones.
In new models HTC also presents multi-tasking touch button. Again, multi-tasking button is ordinary enough.
For example I could have liked my current Samsung S3 if it allowed me to open multi-tasking window by swiping the menu touch button. But Samsung doesn't present any customization in that area, so I never even searched anything about that on the internet. Most people I know and I prefer to tap Samsung's back button 3-4 times to return to home screen instead of pressing the physical button. Because it is faster to tap the back button, and my phone's home button really needs some pressure to work.
I was amazed when I saw LG offered customization for touch buttons, but disappointed right now because their customization offers only more or less 8 options.
The bottom buttons are the constant and most used user interaction point, I don't understand how manufacturers don't see this.

Hmm, I should try this. This sounds it may work for me. Thanks!
It can be done without a custom ROM by using G2 Xposed. That of course requires root, but who would want to not root? Rooting is amazing!

Yes. With root.
This is my phone, with stock LG ROM. Rooted and installed G2 Xposed (free version).
Fine if you do not want to root, you can try using LG's (dumb) feature called Slide Aside where you can use 3 fingers to hibernate apps and resume them, similar to recents. It's the dumbest feature I've seen from ANY phone maker, but it's there.

I use recent apps button frequently, so holding & waiting is not my first choice. I'm aware of that feature. I hate holding and waiting. My current Samsung S3 is like that too. You hold & wait for things like moving icons, which are not frequently used. I'm addicted to alt+tab on my desktop pc too. I use many apps simultaneously.

What future settings you get on cm expect the smooth, regarding a stock based rom can you be more detailed
These are my experiences based on months of G4 (H815) use with both stock-based (Imperium and Genisys) and CM13.
Stock-Based ROM:
- Amazing camera, especially if you can properly use manual mode
- Good audio quality
- Still has more bloatware than needed (even the best ones like Imperium)
- Slower security patches
CM13:
- Noticeably smoother and lighter
- More battery
- Camera is still very good but you lose manual mode
- Very fast security updates (like google nexus)
- Will soon be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat
- Zero bloatware
- Audio quality is slightly lower
Hope this will help you!
Ps: both stock based and CM13 right now are 100% stable, if you hear people having issue they either 1) Haven't clean flashed or 2) they don't have H815

This is the wrong forum/place for this topic, but I'll throw my 2 cents out there as well. Everyone's phone is different, so I will try to simply point out software only differences. Also not to try and repeat what "marn3us" stated above. Pretty sure H815 or H811 don't matter, not with the comparison below.
For me, I really like the following
STOCK:
-In call floating pop up. Simply best feature I know, have not seen it on anything else really. While other end is ringing or talking, you can multi task and almost instantly get back to the call when they pick up or you're done doing other things. Sure w.out that floating bubble, one could pull down the notif panel but I personally find the bubble a bit more convenient (esp how you can move it around).
-VoLTE. I have LTE everywhere I live, so I like to take advantage of that. Also WifiCalling if I need it
-Lockscreen. I love how it works. If I have my phone in my pocket and somehow the screen gets turned on while I am trying to pull it out, if I accidentally tap a notification it does not automatically open. Stock lockscreen requires one tap of notif + full swipe then it will open that notif app. No way of accidentally opening apps showing notifications. Non-stock, double tap any notif and it opens...some ROMs are worse than others, with a broken prox sensor allowing you to open notifs even with screen off in your pocket...making all sorts of pocket activity (calls/text/etc.). The stock way of 'Click + Swipe below' for me works great. Also the prox sensor works 100% on stock ROMs so 100% of time in your pocket it will never have pocket action.
-Lockscreen Pt2: Double-tap to wake/sleep. Works almost every single time. I love the dt2s on LS (some ROMS do have this but with the bad way of simply double-tap a notif to open [on non-stock roms] sometimes I'll double tap the notification instead of turning my screen back off...errr.)
-Data/Service. I find stock has a much better response to reception. In some dead-zone places (like a basement), I have very low service. With non-stock, I almost always lose service completely in same area. Then it doesn't come back until I airplane toggle/leave dead-zone. Stock seems to give better reception everywhere.
-Incom Call Pop-up: Very nice with the ability to simply hide the pop-up and let the phone keep ringing. I found on non-stock there is no way to hide the pop up (actually maybe by a swipe now I think about it, though does that decline the call?).
For me, those 4-5 things are the main points why I cannot use anything other than Stock. Also for me, stock works perfectly fine. No lag and everything just works (I clear recents and restart every couple of days). I try new builds of non-stock all the time, a day or 2 then realize I am missing my fav features above so then I go back. I recently found out the LG SmartWorld app allows you to theme some parts of the UI (icons, fonts, some colors, etc.)..combined with the Tweaksbox, you can do some good Stock changes.
I never really had a problem with lag/performance. I also always used the Imperium kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/kernel-imperium-kernel-g4-v1-0-t3282915 which seems to always do well for my phone. I also turn animations down to .5 in dev options, everytime I flash stock...makes it much quicker. I also know with stock, it's pretty much all optimized code for our phone...AOSP based miss a bunch of proprietary code which I think takes out some of the potential of this phone. Wish every company was like 1+, dev friendly.

1) proximity sensor works great in CM13 as well, it's just turned off by default
Also, lockscreen in cm13 is faster than stock (less touch/swipe) and nothing of what you described (like app opening in pocket or similar) can happen because you have proximity sensor AND you must input the passcode before doing anything.
2) Double tap to sleep and double tap to wake work perfectly fine both in stock and cm13, no difference to me.
3) Data/service signal is exactly the same, works great both with cm13 and stock. Maybe you had older modem/baseband when you tried cm?
4) If you get a call in cm13 and want to let it ring while using the phone you can simply press home button and it'll return to home screen like any other app (leaving the call in the background).
5) Stock roms are quite laggy (except for genisys that is decent and imperium which is very good) but CM13 is noticeably faster
6) Proprietary code has an impact almost only on camera (no manual mode and slightly lower "auto" camera quality) and audio.
This is not meant to criticize stock roms (I have used imperium for months and I still switch to it when i travel and want amazing manual pictures). I was just saying that not all of your points were very accurate.

Ok. Your phone is your phone. And passcode? When did I say I used one?
Everything you just 'defended' non-stock for, I disagree 100%. I made my points for a reason.
For my phone, what I said was accurate. If stock doesn't work for you like that then you got a defunct phone.

LOL, passcodes were invented for a reason
You look like a guy who doesn't pay much attention while reading other's posts so please stop posting here, we were trying to help the OP get *CORRECT* information to base his decision upon.
I said that both stock and CM13 work FLAWLESSLY on my phone and that CM13 does NOT have all those problems you invented. Thus, if your phone had those problems and mine does not, it is YOUR phone the "defunct" one, not mine (or you just made mistakes when flashing, which is more likely).
Let's not continue this discussion and focus on helping the OP please
Please this discussion need to be more detailed for app and settings that have this to roms cm and stock based with port features. in the end this is the reason for root or unlock our phone to get mor function and performance.

The biggest points for stock IMO:
One handed mode
Better camera quality and manual mode, the LG camera app really good takes fullest advantage of its hardware.
As for better sound quality, when I was using imperium Viper4android was included and CM includes AudioFX.
It might come down to better quality earphones.
CM 14 it´s out???

I have only run stock so far since there is no root for marshmallow which my phone had out of the box when I got it a month ago. It's an h812 Canadian variant which is good in one way... absolutely nothing preinstalled by my carrier (Koodo). A couple apps from LG, so almost no bloatware. I can't complain about the stock rom other than certain things that are annoying that aren't there on most custom AOSP or cm Roms (toggling sync on or off brings up a big read me that I have to agree to) and automatic prevention of hearing loss by always dropping my volume down.
I still prefer cm13 based like my moto x 2014 is running but I don't know if I'll ever have that option, or even want to since the camera is one of the few major improvements from my old phone.
---------- Post added at 05:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
Also to add...cm13 on my moto x and the other day helping my friend survey his property in the wilderness, very little reception and putting my sim card back in the moto x got me enough reception to run the tinder app, Facebook and YouTube which refused to load on the g4.
Not saying it's because of cm but the moto x was better despite having cm.
And the moto x is now my music player and the quality sounds better even on cm compared to stock g4 which gives me more reason to be able to try cm on the g4 since I don't use it for music as much right now anyway.
I like stock LG ui and with Genesis theme (UX 5) it's just marvellous
love stock for camera and stability. i would go AOSP if no more updates were avaiblefor my phone and the AOSP would make run better then i would.. iin my opinion AOSP for phones that arent no longer supported of end up in a rom that has bugs
