[Q] The S3 Neo Duos has miracast/sreen mirroring??? - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, my name is Andre, and i'm from brazil...
i want to by the S3 NEO Duos, BUT i need to know if it has MIRACAST / SCREEN MIRRORING, because i use this function a lot...
if no has, there another CFW or ROM that enable this function???
THANKS A LOT

Yes, the S3 Neo has mirror screen, even you can toggle it from the status bar. There are some TV's which are not supported but if you own a Samsung TV, it will work without problems!

i have a philips smart tv, (that works whith my old asus zenfone 5, laptot windows 8 and tablet samsung galaxy tabpro 8,4) an ez cast dongle and chromecast dongle...
it will work???
and, asus zenfone 5 or S3 Neo Duos???
thanks a lot!

I don't know if your tv has a wireless interference like wifi etc. But if it doesn't has it then i think through a HDMI port you can do that. You will need HDMI chord and may be a TV Adapter for galaxy which once called MHL. may be i am wrong because i have never use it.

Then i think you can connect your s3 neo with your tv through wifi. I don't know the procedure but i think it will be the same as zenfone. Google it

[VIDEO] Galaxy Note II as a Computer/PC with MHL + Bluetooth Keyboard + Mouse!

Video Demonstration
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI-Rbm-m5Kk
Ever since the OQO, I drempt of one day carrying a PC in my pocket. That day is finally here.
You can use the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as a PC (computer), straight out of the box, no additional apps or hacks required. But you do need the right cables. A list of things you need is at the bottom.
I connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and then I connect a 11-pin MHL HDMI HDTV adapter. With the split-screen multitasking capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it outshines all smartphones, and even most tablets in this regard, but it is not without many flaws.
There isn't a menu button on a standard mouse, when playing hardware accelerated video there doesn't seem to be an option to not only output video on the TV monitor, the Samsung keyboard is required to be enabled when using a Bluetooth keyboard, so it pops up whenever you click with the cursor.
Using a smartphone as a PC computer is an ability that is many years in the making. With all those minor to major annoyances, it is still near flawless at it's most essential task, which is web browsing, Flash works 95% too. The web browsing experience is leaps and bounds any web browser on any smartphone. You can definitely quote me on that. Spent about $80 on accessories to put this video together. Hope you appreciate it!
Required: Samsung Galaxy Note II, 11-pin MHL HDMI HDTV Adapter, Bluetooth keyboard, Bluetooth mouse, power adapter for your Galaxy Note 2, HDMI cable.
speaking of MHL, is the MHL built into this phone, or do we need to MHL adapter, similar to what HTC phones need? Or do we need just the MHL cable without the adapter?

Thanks. I think I ca use my MHL from my Amaze4G then (will need to test to make sure)
I also have the (usb to HDMI) MHL cable without any adapter, was hoping that would be compatible.

You may need a converter, the thing still uses micro-usb but the pinout on the note2 and s3 is different from earlier phones. about $3-$5 of ebay.
thanks for taking the time to video this Really like the multi windows part, most useful

yup got both converter and the cable itself was hoping though to drop the converter and just use the cable since i've never had any device that can use the mhl cable without adapter.
thanks again

I was wondering, have you been able to figure out solutions for the issues?
- virtual keyboard popping up every time you click with the mouse
- videos taking up the monitors full screen instead of split screen
I really appreciate the video and made a thread on it in the Nexus 4 forum here on xda :good:

Wow, thank you so much for doing that. I totally appreciate it!
As for keyboard popup issues, I think Samsung just needs to push out an update and remove the requirement to have samsung keyboard enabled when using the bluetooth keyboard.
As for videos taking up the full screen. I'll let you know if I find a solution.
I guess 'bluetooth null keyboard' on market could help you with the keybord popping up issue....

External Keyboard Helper
Get this from the play store, it is the best way to sort the Bluetooth Keyboard issue by far. Been trying out different apps, but that one works perfect.
Even pops up whenever the BT KB is connected to let you select it and then again on disconnect.

I use the allshare cast instead of the mhl adapter. Works great!!
Jump Desktop is a great VNC client for my arm devices (chroot, touchpad, & raspberry pi) and splashtop works wonders on my x86 ubuntu box and associated VMs.

Yes. If your status is modified neither MHL nor Allshare Cast work. Triangle Away really helps here, though you do need a stock kernel.

Am I missing something? Mhl works fine in a modified state, I have perseus kernel stock rom and rooted

It doesn't work for me unfortunately. If I am modified it will connect and immediately disconnect.

Bluetooth can be buggy with so many revisions, that it would be impossible to say all keyboard mouse combos would work. Anecdotally, I haven't had a problem.

I think you can also add soft key on the screen to bring out the menu/home/return function

No MHL?

I received mine yesterday, have been testing it all day, everything looks fine, no significant lag. One thing I cannot test out is the MHL function. I tried mt MHL adapter, it does not work at all. Can anyone help me test if this feature exists or I got a lemon?

Yes, it does.
This is the adapter I am using that I had bought for my Note 2 (I'm sooo happy Samsung decided to go with Micro-USB on this device).

Anyone tried Nyrius ARIES Prime/pro Digital Wireless HDMI Transmitter & Receiver System on note 10.1 yet? I think this will be the perfect solution for wireless display.

It might be the older 5 pin version when the newer Samsungs have moved onto 11 pin adapters.
You could either upgrade or get an 5 pin to 11 pin adapter.
On a somewhat related note: Does this tablet have miracast support?

It should...it has a mirror screen function that works with Samsung all share cast hub(kind of miracast?)
The Samsung all share cast works as long as unrooted.

I tried the Samsung HDMI adapter I bought last year for my Note 2. It works for the Note 2 but not Note 3. The HML adapter will show like a dark snow effect and without it on it is a blank TV. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the TV resolution :/

same here, my MHL adapter for Note 2 doesn't work with this tablet.
You need the new version that they released with the s4

I just purchased the black on mentioned in the 2 post hope that works ok.
MHL works
l picked up one from Monoprice that came with the 5 to 11 pin converter. Worked fine with the tablet and my S3 watching streamed content with the Hulu plus subscription included with the tablet.
I'm sorry but I am not following this thread very well. If I want to connect my 10.1 2014 to a HDMI TV what exactly do I need (as has been confirmed to work)?

I haven't tested it but It works with my S4, says its compatible with Note 3 and Note 8 so should work on this.
I haven't tested this on my new 10.1 2014 yet, BUT
It works great on my Galaxy S 4 so I'm confidant it will work. I normally don't order generic and always go with Samsung OEM, but since it's near impossible to find a genuine Samsung one for a reasonable price I ordered from mycablemartDOTCOM since I LOVE their HDMI cables/adapters.

Hope this helps someone!
My Note 2 adapter works just fine!
I purchased the note 2 adapter from Samsung and it works perfectly with my 2014 edition!
bought this but doesn't connect
Cable Matters Micro-USB to HDMI MHL Adapter in Black and Charging Cable in Black 1 Metre* from Amazon.
It connects straight to my htc one x but not my galaxy 10.1 note.
Is it just not compatible or do I need to change settings on my tab?
My mhl works fine that I got for my s4. It also works for my note 3 with the USB 3.0. Since the galaxy s3 you need a mhl 2.0 adapter. They have extra pins. The old mhl won't work on newer Samsung devices
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
The catch being it is a battery drain. Net negative even when charging. You can not even watch a complete movie if streaming Netflix on the S4.
Near worthless as a result on the S4.

Mediapad M3 HDMI output?

Hi guys
Got an LTE mediapad the other day, really pleased with it so far, especially after installing 7.0 earlier on, that sorted most of the little things I didn't like (having owned nexus devices the last few years, there were a number of things). I was just wondering, does anyone know if it has hdmi output capabilities. afaik, the old mediapad had an hdmi port, but the M2 didn't support any video output. Is that the same with the M3? i've searched all over the place and can't seem to find a definitive answer. I figured it could either support MHL or maybe it might work with a slimport adaptor.
Thanks
Cameron
If your TV supports MiraCast / MirrorShare :
> Setting > Advanced Setting > MirrorShare
Works fine on Smart LG TV 4K 65" with acceptable lag.
At least a solution to output the mediapad's screen on TV OTA.
I am sorry to revive such an old thread, but I was looking for the answer to the same question. I have an MHL and a Slimport adapter, none of them seem to work. My Mediapad M3 is running official Nougat. It starts charging when I connect the charger, it used to need it on my Nexus 5 or my LG G Pad 8.3.

Hey, late anwser too. There are various types od MHL, if i remember corectly 5 and 9 pin versions. You need the right type for that device.

I have already given up, it was a nice thing to have. There is no mention of MHL support on the Mediapad. I am not buying MHL cables to test them since I cannot find out what type of MHL it is (according to you, 5 and 9 pin versions).
Used to be nice when all Android devices had HDMI out support, now they want you to buy a Chromecast. I just want to hook up to a hotel TV and Chromecast does not support a sign in screen that just about every hotel in the world has.

FINALLY SOLVED ! WIRELESS DISPLAY ( WIFI-DIRECT ) Screen mirroring

I tried the microsoft wireless display adapter that worked so well with all my Samsung phones. But with the AXON 7 it was VERY pixelated (square blocks dragging across the screen).Hence not very usable.
I wanted something cheap, because I could'nt find a concrete compatible dongle. So I bought the Anycast M2 (version 2 which has decent specs).
Before updating it didn't work so well, but after the most recent update the dongle works almost flawlessly!
I LOVE IT ! This phone now mirrors better than any phone I ever owned ! I think its the 820 processor runs so smooth I forget its mirroring all the times !
I bought this device on ebay for 12$ ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!
If you guys are already mirroring what dongle are you using ? how does it work ?
