Quick question about the HU in a truck I bought. - Android Head-Units

I have this head unit that came installed in a truck I purchased;
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WG1PKJC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
It runs 4.2.2 and looks to be new. My question would be, Is there anything I can do with it? It runs pretty decent and supports most, if not all of the apps I use. I would like to update it to a custom ROM but it's unclear if I can or not.
Thanks ahead of time!

Yes, this is correct. Completely read the first post, paying attention to upgrading to a pre-rooted 4.4 ROM and which MCU to install.

4.3.14-7-10-650201-150527
This is what my system is reporting what version MCU it has. How do I identify what I need to upgrade?

Anybody? All I'm looking for is if I can install 4.4.4.
Thank you.

I'm still confused on which unit this is. Any other way to find out other than mcu?

I really would like to upgrade this thing. I HATE the hard coded buttons at the bottom of the screen. They take up nearly half of it.

The upgrade method should be the same as with the rest most likely (copy the ROM to the root of an SD card, put it in the GPS slot, get into recovery and it should prompt you to upgrade). You should be able to flash any ROM that's made for your CPU, regardless of which MCU you have/need. I haven't flashed the MCU on mine since I see no reason to do it (if it ain't broke...) but the ROM and MCU can be flashed independently so no need to worry about the other if only one is a problem.
About the launcher, that's just an APK so you should be able to install a new launcher even without flashing a new ROM.

Latest Rom for joying 10.1 Need to root with rom

Having a hard time finding the latest or best Update.img for joying 10.1 head unit
Its still rk3188
Ive followed some links but the update. Img i tried failed I need link to the best latest rom for the 10.1 model Not sure if screen size is relevant for type of rom
Can someone please link me ?
Also should i out the .img on the nand flash or usb drive
What latest ROM? The official? Look on joying site.
Also, there are two different versions of 10.1. Both have different ROM requirements.
Is there a reason you need a new rom? That's a pretty recent product.

Yes there's a lot of necessary tweaks changes that make the unit desire able.
Mine is the 5.1.1 there is no rom for it
And I also just bricked it cause someone linked me to a 4.4.4 model rom..
Now I don't know how to try restore it
Cant get into recovery mode at all now
Where would I download the official 5.1.1 firmware through joying themselves?
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA-Developers mobile app

Sorry to hear you might have bricked it. Yes, at the moment there doesn't appear to be any community ROM available for these units. You may have seen other other threads on the same topic.
You will most definitely want to contact Joying support about any possibility of unbricking.

FLASHING THE WRONG ROM WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE AND VOID YOUR WARRANTY WITH JOYING!!!
If you have a 4.4.4 (MTCB) Head unit you can get the latest Joying ROM on carjoying website or you can use Malaysk ROM.
If you have the Lollipop Android 5 (MTCD) Head unit you need to contact your seller for the ROM and MCU.
I have had few head units already which do not even go into recovery because of wrong ROM/MCU was flashed.
There is no Malaysk ROM for android 5 MTCD Head unit now.
You can donate to support his work so we can send him a MTCD head unit to work on and develop Android 5 ROM

Android Head Unit Identification MCU ZHAN(NOR)

Hello,
i buyed a Taffio S200 Android Radio for my Opel Astra J with an Octa Core PX5 2GB Ram and 32Gb
Can anyone tell me how i come into the Recovery Mode? The Radio havn't any Buttons, only a small Reset Button. I tryed it with Terminal Emulator but it's rebooting i see a little bit like Recovery Menu but than it's rebooting again to Android.
I search a Custom Rom too, but i only read about MTCD and MTCE but my device shows MCU version: 2018-04-16 17:04:06 ZHAN_(NOR)_90_C9RD6686_CAN(A)PX5D1804160.
I couldn't find anything about this mcu.
Have anyone an idea how to root this device? I can't try a lot of things, because i can't restore a brick without Recovery Menu and stockrom.
Does your HU have a USB port? If so, plug in a USB keyboard, reboot/reset the device and try pressing Alt + Print Screen while tapping i or e (both works)

Yes, but it warmed up the device, it shows a countdown of 5 seconds but then it starts normally.

Have you tried enabling adb over Wifi on the device using https://hvdwolf.github.io/Joying-RootAssistant/ (or even rooting ~ some risk is there, so try the adb method first) and using an adb command to reboot to recovery?

The Joying Root Assistant didn't work for you to root the device?
Some firmwares lock you out of the recovery menu, where it can be only used for updating your firmware. Maybe that's why?

Your unit is a WINCA/ROADNAV manufactured S200 and it can be rooted. I know because I have exactly the same MCU firmware and probably the same Android build. Check out the rooting thread on the first page of this forum. In there is all the info you need.

I could but my stock ROM will most likely not work properly on your unit. Each ROM differs slightly from car to car with the WINCA units. It's daft but it's how they chose to design.

You are my last hope. The controls on the steering wheel do not work, not even the Parking Sensor. If it goes wrong, nothing will change. Could you backup and send me? I would be very grateful.

Please send me the link to where you purchased your unit as well as all you know about the manufacturer.
Mine too is ZHAN_(NOR) i bought it in Polish Reseller, original seller is bluepowercn.com, the name of the unit is GREATSO S200. Cannot find in Russian Forums and XDA any information about that ROM or UPDATES/MODS. Alie Store:
Bluepower Electronics co., ltd
youtube.com/watch?v=AEvCX2bomoA - info from Witson with same MCU, Ok Found mine it`s: W2-W279
Is it possible to upgarade or install mod rom to W2-W279? I have some issues with OBD2 connection via Bluetooth and Bluetotoh contacts storage plus minor bugs... cannot find on XDA if ZHAN_(NOR) is possible to upgrade or change of the stock rom.
DennisBa unit is W2-W072 - Opel Astra J - i think its the same brand and topic is consistent.

Hi, my car is a Opel Astra J, too and I need to reflash the MCU. I flashed the wrong one... Can you share your MCU maybe? Thank you!
Or maybe someone could share this firmware to me like in the pictures? After flashing wrong MCU and newer system version, my Canbus Box and car won't be detected anymore.
I need this firmware with ZHAN(NOR) MCU (for Opel Astra J).
Anyone who can help me?
Please check out my own thread here:
Winca/Roadnav S200 PX5 ZHAN_(NOR) MCU & firmware (Opel Astra J)
Hi guys. Maybe and hopefully someone of you can help me here. I bought a used Android system based on the Winca S200 with ZHAN_(NOR) MCU for the Opel Astra J. While looking for new system software I stupidly flashed a newer system version, but...

If anyone has a dump/backup of this firmware and mcu, please let me know.
Big thanks in advance.
Good morning..
I ask for your help.

Seeking Root for XHCN intel 9853 Head Unit

Hi all
I might have bought the only android device in the entire China, that is un-root-able. :crying:
It is a ZOYOSKII fra Aliekspress with following info:
10,4" screen
Android 9 PIE
CPU Info: CPU:Intel X86_OCTA-CORE 1.8Ghz SC9853 4+64Gb
MCU Version: 2019.10.15 09:51:58 XHCN_53_l82_G23P48F64_Ver:1.0
It seems like the "new" intel processors is not the most used in the industri.
The only other i have seen, is the Joying devices, but i havent been able to find a root that i dear to use on this unit.
Can you help with a root-build for this or can i use some allready-existing root?
Thanks.
There is no "ready to use" rooted build for any SC9853 unit.
You need to use the way as described in the Joying thread and build your own rooted boot.img.

1st of all: You need to get in contact with your seller to get the OEM firmware.
2nd: Install the Joying Extra tools by @surfer63
3rd: continue with posting a screenshot from the extra tool
did you end up finding any information on this unit?
I bought one off of a friend that has the same information and I can't seem to get a few things working
Do you know the Security Code for this unit?
Have you got the latest build?
3368 is the code I believe
have you got something new for your head unit. my head unit also the same, I used joying firmware and root but not compatible
I have the same headunit, has anyone figured out how to root this device from this seller (ZOYOSKII)? I have multiple issues with the headunit, and would be great to collaborate. Another seller (Sinosmart) has the same unit, is the firmware / rooting process the same?
I have one of these too, i need to root so I am able to hide the navbar at the top.
Any updates on this? I just bought a used car with this already installed. I just want carplay and a newer version update.

YT9216BJ (MT8227L) Head Unit Root Question

So I bought this head unit and i am looking to root it. I'm accustomed to XDA and rooting and I also found the russian forum that disscusses these head units but I'm lost. It seems mine is newer(?) or more up to date than im seeing. It says android 10.1(it seems to be really 9) and is API 27.
Things i see seem to be giving root for my device but downgrading it. Is there any assistance I can receive on this? Attached some screenshots.

Okay so having the newer Android shouldn't be a problem as your unit type and MCU are right for modding.
I've successfully modded a similar unit only a couple of weeks back. Backup your current ROM by exporting the full memory dump, just in case of brick.
You start with installing TWRP recovery. Normally only version 3.0.2 will work. If not, try newer then older versions. One of them will stick.
After TWRP it's an easy ride. Install SuperSU v2.79 and if it doesn't work, try newer then older versions.
Now you can install Viper4Android. I suggest you stick to version 2.5.0.
Now just configure everything you need.
Ok thanks for the reply. I did some searching today on the forum after reading your post but all I see is flashing a whole new rom.
Is there a guide to just install TWRP to my current stock rom(I actually like it) and then the usual SuperSU to obtain root priveleges?

I just posted this this guide that provides custom firmware and lots of improvements to YT9216BJ, that includes TWRP, SuperSU and much much more. You can of course stick with the stock firmware but there is an option of making your unit much more appealing

Yt9213aj_00011_v001 2gb/16gb twrp/root/viper help

I am trying to figure out how to root this specific model. I have read abunch in the forums but am still not certain which firmware to install.
Also, am I suppose to make a backup with adb? How do I do a full backup that would be flashable in case I brick it?
Any help sure would be appreciated. I have the 2gb ram 16gb flash version (not sure if it is really 2gb/16gb, does anyone know how to check?) and the download links I have found are all for the 1gb version. This unit also has android 10.1 but I know that's not the case, but this unit just had to many different things than other units mentioned in these forums. I just don't want to risk it by blindly flashing something that is going to ruin my head unit.
