It is likely they did this as so people aren't running buggy software as their daily driver. It forces you to either use a ROM with working camera and modem files, or use it with MultiROM if it is available for your device.
Does anyone know if you need the special bootloader with the recovery partition for this preview?

A quick look at the instruction should say what's required, but if it's a sony release it'll most likely be an .ftf but no camera or modem is a bit unfortunate.... Has anyone bothered to package this yet? Just curious to see what it's like on our devices.

it needs a recovery and unlocked bootloader, so i don't think it is a ftf
FXP just released a build for m developer preview.... anyone tried it yet? Haven't the time to reprogram my device for now as it's my daily driver :/

So according to Xperia Blog, the Neo L has had new firmware certified on the PTRCB. Version 4.1.B.0.626. http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=21028
OK, but the neo L isn't a 2011 Xperia so whats your point?
Look at the version number of its upcoming firmware on the PTRCB link above. 4.1.B.0.626. Look at its previous firmware on the same list. 4.1.B.0.587. Look at our latest version. 4.1.B.0.587.
Ahhh. See what I'm getting at?
So based on this, my conclusion is that the 2011 Xperias should be receiving the .626 update soon. This will most likely be bug fixes but it's always good to see new updates from Sony. Sony did say that while we are not getting JB (unless they have a change of heart) they will still support us via ICS firmware updates.
Your thoughts? Agree or disagree?

just set APN.

for now everything is working really well. I'm restoring my apps right now so that's gonna take a little while but I'll let you know more later. First impressions are very, very good. All camera options work fine, the rom is really snappy, great stuff!!!
edit : one little gripe, after manually inserting the proper build.prop from your zip, my phone recognises itself as r800i but my computer still thinks it's a neo L when I plug it in. nothing major but i had to let you know
your zip has an error .. status 6...

I downloaded this firmware .... had to convert it to ftf ... and flashed it .... feels smooth, thought there are some force closes in the start... but works great ... There is no particular difference between other firmwares and this on... Just a little smoother...
I haven't checked the touchpads yet... Will check it later..

This ROM is in really early stage.
IT CAN BRICK YOUR DEVICE !!! FLASH CAREFULLY !!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!
What works:
I think everything works apart from camera !
I have tested this rom on my phone before uploading. When I rebooted in recovery through the reboot menu of the ROM my device was hard-bricked. That means I sent it to service in order to repair it!
In this rom I intergrated a fix for camera and also for recovery I think.
Still you are NOT encouraged to reboot into recovery from within the ROM unless you want to test how lucky you are.
You can flash this rom and tell me what other things may not work correctly and also try to make your own fixes for the problems mentioned above.
Flash via CWM 5.0.2.7
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Advanced-> Wipe Dalvik Cache
3) Instal from .zip in sdcard
Notes:
1)Installation will get a lot of time. No other rom took me so much ever. Just wait patiently and it will eventually end
2)If you have no baseband/imei=null try using the amss.mbn from gingerbread pinkscreen image folder -> aka the gingerbread baseband file

it isn't available at his github anymore , but the lewa os team (ioz9 at github) had made a fork
@ svteam : I didn't try any other cameras but I think you 'll get the same errors. Some libraries and maybe some bin files may need to be changed in order for camera to work.

I cant do anything on U+ now. Got imei 0 cant restore it..i am not sending it back to centre. May be looking at some new phones now. But will try to fix for sure.

I'm not gonna try my luck again with CM9. Whenever I try, my phone hard bricks

In one of the articles I read something about modem and camera not supported - does that mean their drivers are missing and they just won't work? Coz that would make this rom useless for all except developers. Ppl with more knowledge, please share thoughts.

I think the priority is that the rom is build before thinking at the Gapps
This is all great, but their build doesn't support the camera or modem.
It’s important to note that the AOSP software is not certified or intended for regular use. It’s only available for devices with an unlocked boot loader and comes with some limitations, for example, the modem and the camera are not implemented.

You can flashable gapps packs on the cm home page which should work

Aah, OK, so all we really need is a flashable rom then. But that leaves the modem and camera issues. Wonder if developers can implement those from other existing roms... But it's wishful thinking on my part, coz I don't even know if that is possible.

June 29 I started porting SailfishOS to our device and I got it to boot to UI with touch working, thanks to @Mister_Magister
It's not android even though it requires CM12.1 to be installed as base.
For know It's only for D6503 model.
What's working so far:
- UI
- LCD
- Touch
- RIL (no LTE)
- WiFi
- Cellurar data
- LED Diode
- Buttons
What's not working:
- Bluetooth
- Cameras
- DASH(sensors)
What's untested:
- GPS
I would call it early alpha in this stage, but hopefully we'll get it to work
ZIPs will be released to public once everything is working, but I might PM random people from this thread if I needed testers (it would be nice to see some d6502 owners
