[ROOT] Root the new Blu Studio G with Kingo Root - Blu Studio 5

Okay, so this isn't my work I'm just verifying that it does attain root on the new Blu Studio G, and making the necessary program easy to find. All thanks should go to Kingo ROOT.
WARNING!!! You could brick your phone. I am not responsible if you brick it, chuck it at someone, or fling it off your balcony in frustration. That's on you!!!
What you will need:
1) Kingo ROOT (attached to this thread).
2) A windows PC. (This may work in WINE on Linux, or in Virtual box on Mac, but I can't confirm that.)
3) Developer Options, USB Debugging, and install from Unknown Sources enabled on your phone.
4) your sync cord.
5) About 10 minute.
Got all that? Let's get started.
STEP ONE: Go to Settings, About Phone, Build Number. Tap it 7 times. It will sa "You're a Developer Now"
STEP TWO: Go to Settings, Developer Options. Turn on the soft switch in the upper right corner. Now scroll down to USB Debugging and check the box.
STEP THREE: Go to Settings, Security. Scroll down to Unknown Sources and check the box.
STEP FOUR: Connect your phone to your PC, and wait for all the drivers to install. If they don't automatically on your version of Windows as they do on Windows 10, the drivers are available on the XDA wiki.
STEP FIVE: Unzip and Install Kingo ROOT Installer. Now run it and follow on screen directions closely. when it is done, reboot.
STEP SIX: Install your favorite Busybox installer from the Play store [I use the by Stephen (Stericson) because it has the newest stable busybox.] When that is done, Reboot.
YOU ARE DONE.
P.S. I ported TWRP touch recovery - available here. There is also a Philz touch recovery made for our device by nobreak1970 available here.
P.P.S. I am also working on several ROMs for the Studio G - when they are flawless I will post them; NOT BEFORE.

Rooted mine yesterday with KingRoot and used SuperSume to replace it with SuperSu.
Flawless.
I'm running exposed all sorts of different modules haven't found one that doesn't work all we need is a custom recovery now.

Blu studio G plus (BLU_S510_V13_GENERIC) Roms/help
Hi guys. I've made a big mistake. Earlier today I was deleting old Twrp backups to make room for new ones with fx root. Well while I was at it I deleted a couple of logs to and some things I thought were just empty residual files. When I closed out fx my phone crashed to boot screen. And is stuck there. I can get to recovery but currently there are no stock/custom Roms for my particular build. I have looked everywhere. I've found every build but my own and its frustrating. I don't know what I deleted to make my system fail. So I have no chance of trying to look up files and manually install them. I've found a ROM pretty close to my build (S510_V09) But before I result to such drastic measure that will potentially do more harm than good. I figured I would try my chances here first. Any ideas at this point would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys.

Root intercept on froyo????

My friend has the samsung intercept and I was going to help him root it. I have tried Z4root and gingerbreak but they didn't work.
Does anyone have a site on how to root? Or instructions?
I am a very experienced android user and I am very comfortable with ADB if it is needed.
Anybody know?
Let's try again. Does anyone here know?
S.D.X. Everything you need to know for the intercept
Yes I found that method as well. We tried that about twenty times along with another 1 click at xda, z4, and gingerbreak. Is there an Adb method? Also, would rageagainstthecage work?

S.D.X. is a website S.D.X. developers They have several guides to rooting.I rooted mine with a programed called sw updater with my pc but now ther are easier ways.
Ok thank you I will check it out
You're going to need to run one (or several) of the root exploits (until they 'take') and then edit some files manually via adb to make it permanent. See the SDX Developers website as previously noted.
It won't let me post a link but Google this...
how-to-install-custom-kernelrom-on-your-intercept-using-cm01-recovery
I did it with SWUpgrade Tool, but...
1) Even though I could connect and swap files between my phone and my computer over USB, SWUpgrade for some reason would not recognize my USB connection on Windows XP SP 3. This page along with the Samsung driver link on the same page saved my ass...
Google this - Troubleshoot driver error June Fabrics android
2) With the SWUpgrade you have to be really quick and unplug the USB and take out the battery when he says to, or you will not get the custom recovery installed. It took me about 4 tries before I was able to get the custom recovery in my phone.
I previously did the rageagainstthecage method, and while it worked, at one point I stupidly took out the battery when it froze before I had put in a custom recovery and done a backup and I very nearly bricked my phone. It would not bootup after that no matter what. Fortunately I was able to boot into the Virgin Mobile recovery and start from scratch wiping and resetting my phone, but I had to re-download all my apps from the Market all over again which fortunately the Market kept a record of.
I used the first link for the kernel and I am very happy. Just take it slow, be careful, and follow the instructions exactly.

Ok guys thanks for the advice however I have been having one problem:
I cannot seem to get the drivers installed successfully on my computer. It is windows vista x86. I have tried the easytether drivers and the samsung drivers but for some reason they don't work. Any ideas?

I am curious about this as well. I just upgraded to the Note 3 (N900V) from the Note 2 and the volume levels are just so low. Even with a portable speaker that I use while at work I can barely get it loud enough to hear at full blast and to my knowledge rooting is the only real solution to that.

Do you have USB debugging enabled? It should work

I don't see that the verizon note 3 is supported on the Kingo site.

We need more info than "no go" and "Nothing". Does it show that it's connecting? Is it giving a failed status at completion?
Steps to take:
1. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
(To enable Developer Options and subsequently USB debugging go to Settings>About Phone then tap Build Number several times [7, I think].
This will enable Developer Options on the main settings page. Then go into Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
2. Reboot your PC and disable any anti-virus or firewall software.
2. Shut down the phone an pull the battery for a few seconds.
3. Restart the phone and launch Kingo. It should work.\
If it doesn't repeat the steps. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but you must have a "connected" status in Kingo or it will never work.

I've noticed that also. I wonder what phone people are choosing.
I rooted my VZW Note 3 2 days ago. The latest Kingo does work on MJ7.
Seriously, Use Google & read. Make sure you have USB drivers installed or Kies 3. It's not that hard

The steps I outlined have worked for me and many others that have posted on these forums. I was simply trying to help. Obviously, based on that response, you don't need any help. You must have it all figured out. Well, all but how to root your phone.
Good day and good luck.
PS: you still haven't given any real useful information.

Here's directions I found elsewhere on this forum & others using Google
Kingo version 1.1.4.1785 has SuperSU 1.65, I replaced that SuperSU with an updated version. SuperSU Version 1.80 is out now. No issues. Follow the steps below & you'll be up & running. Credit goes to either TomsGT or Kachow I can't remember which so I'll give them both credit
1) Begin by going to the website Root Android phone, flash custom ROM and manage your Android devices, Rooting Freeware Download - Kingo and hit the large green button that reads “Download”. The android_root.exe should begin downloading on Windows 7. Once, it has completed, go ahead, open it and select run. Should receive a box Root Set-up Wizard> select “next”> “I accept the agreement” then next> select the folder for the install, then next> folder selection, then next> create a desktop icon, then next> install> Launch Kingo Android ROOT, finish.
2) This next step can be tricky make sure for simplest use, to have a Micro USB 2.0 cable, Windows 7 computer, USB Debugging enabled. With the Kingo application Launched, there should be a red circle in the middle of screen indicating a device and a computer being connected. Connect both the device and the computer, with both connected, watch the red button turn orange and watch the device for a USB Debugging permission grant to appear and authorize it. Select the “Root” option, watch the screen of your device for the Super User to appear and pop up to authorize ADB Shell> and Grant it (you now have Root), let the rest application run, as soon as device Reboots> DISCONNECT. In fact you can UNINSTALL KINGO FROM YOUR COMPUTER.
3) There’s 2 big steps coming up, one is getting rid of Kingo and replacing it with a pure form of Root and then installing Safestrap, using it to install that pure form of Root. To get started let’s begin with the latest version of SuperSU which is version 1.69. The way this is going to be installed is a different form than usual, as we are actually going to Flash SuperSU. THIS WILL HAPPEN AT A LATER POINT, I WANT TO GET THIS FILE IN POSITION SO WE CAN QUICKLY FLASH IT AND INSTALL IT WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT. Go ahead and download this file, please save this to the Internal Memory that should read in the folder [ sdcard/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.69.zip ]. This will be a quick access location.
4) The next step is to install Safestrap, as of today it is running stable which is excellent news, it is also based on TWRP which happens to be a Custom Recovery. Safestrap is Recovery that is designed to work with devices that have locked Bootloaders, in the past years SS was limited to Motorola devices and until recently Hashcode the Developer of Safestrap has transitioned over to the darkside. Hashcode has put thousands of hours into SS and other projects and I owe him the credit to let him explain, here are his two main threads on
Rootzwiki
XDA
After reading Hashcode’s OP’s you should have a complete understanding how to set-up and install SS. I am leaving this section thin as Hashcode does an excellent job explaining how to install SS, what it is, how it works, and all the above. If any questions in specific please ask in this thread.
5) This is the main event, the goal here is to remove Kingo Root and replace it with a Genuine Root. To do this we need to first go into SuperSU app> go under the Settings> scroll to the bottom and find under “Cleanup”/ “Switch superuser app”. Then go ahead and press this area (nothing will indicate that it was pressed.) Then exit SuperSU, if you try to click on the app it will say the app is not installed (this is correct as you will be changing SuperSU momentarily.) Go ahead and Reboot the Device.
6) As the Device is restarting look for the Safestrap Logo Robot to appear, the bottom left corner says “Recovery” and go ahead select it. In the Top Right corner find the “Install” letters in Red> select Storage: Internal Storage (xxxx) /datamedia/media/0 > scroll down and find UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.69.zip, then touch it, on the next screen make sure it is the right file and slide the button to the right to “Swipe to Confirm Flash”. Should be > Successful < if so hit Reboot System.
7) Once, system Restarts> open your app drawer open up SuperSU and Grant any User Apps that you desire.

[ROOT\RECOVERY\ROMS][NX008HD8G] Nextbook 8" Resources

WARNING: These files are reported as not working on Next8HD8G tablets manufactured after August 2013. Check your serial number. If it begins YFG1013... YFG1113... or higher, do not use these files. You may try to root using Cydia Impactor instead. If you do root one of the newer tablets, please dump the ROM for the rest of us!
Nextbook 8"
The Nextbook 8 is an afordable 99USD tablet from walmart. Widelly adapted but not with any serious unofficial development going on. I purchased one for a friend and couldn't resist to tweak it. I tried to find some ROMs to no avail. Also rooting was a long journey. So I decided to create this resource thread to help out people to this device and even present my own ROM. So without further to do I begin :
Rooting & Recovery the Easy way
Rooting was my first concern so I could de-bloat the tablet itself since it came with various unused software. The most efficient method I came across was the one presented by shaunmt at the freaktab forums here. So let me show you how it's done.
1. Download the modified stock recovery from shaunmt
2. Extract the archive and place the image in the root of your external SD card! NOT THE INTERNAL ONE!
3. Download and copy the root package by Kyser to your external SD card!
4. Power off the tablet and then hold down both volume keys while holding the power button. The tablet should show the first splash screen and then a black one followed by the recovery screen.
5. Use the Volume keys to navigate in the menu and the power button to confirm your selection. Select flash from EXT (or something like that), then select your SD card and then select the root package to install. The root package will be installed. Navigate back to the root mneu and select "reboot system"
6. Rooting should have finished and your tablet once powered on should be permanently rooted. But in the case that you don't see a root management application go to the Play Store and download either SuperSU or Super User.
7. Finished!
ROMs
1. Stock ROM - Packed by shaunmt at freaktab - here
2. nextGen 8" - By CedArctic - Comming soon
Always perform a full wipe when installing ROMs. Neither of these ROMs has been personally tested by me. Shaunmt from freaktab owns all the work on the thread (except my ROM).
Reserved for future needs
Keep an eye on my threads at FreakTab... there is lots more coming soon...

i did every step and installation was aborted... any tips?
You don't have the custom recovery file in your EXTERNAL sd card. The stock recovery aborts the installation due to not recognising the google installation keys.
How would I go about dumping the ROM so we can make recovery and a custom ROM. Mine is the newer one. Rooted and debloated

thanks for the help in advance..
Same here
I picked one up for either modding or dismantling it to see if I could build it. So the root thing is new to me, I have been spending a few days reading over you guys tuts and suggestions. I came across this one and it seemed fairly simple, take the downloads, extract to SD and recovery reboot? However it has not worked. If I push both volumes I get small yellow script at top saying DNX Fastboot mode, if I do the volume up button with power, I get the options of REBOOT, RECOVERY,POWER OFF, and I believe one other one. Either way I seem to hit a wall. I'm have no doubt it's me, but I would a appreciate a lil advice.
Thank you
NX008HD8G, Firmware? Root?
Hey Guys! I was wondering if maybe there was another link to the files? Has anyone figured out how to update the firmware on the NX008HD8G? I’m having trouble trying to root and I’m unable to find anything on how to at least update the firmware to 4.4.2. I’ve been having trouble with google play services, and could use either the stock rom or maybe a custom. Please help! Hopefully someone sees this!

[Q] rooting nexus 7 first time

so i recently got the 2012 nexus 7 from my step daughter she wasnt using. i replaced the usb port cause it was messed up. im trying to root it and im following some guides and it says to make sure usb debugging is checked but i cant find it. im on 4.4.4 latest one and cant find it at all anyone shed some light on it please
nvm got it
still cant get the dang thing to root. i got recovery in there and everything but when i go to super user it says no su binary installed
ok i cant find anything can someone point me in right direction ive tried a couple different ones and none work
Hey man,
Use search in future, please
But here's what you need. I did this with my "virgin" Nexus 7 2012 (virgin by means, it ran over 1 year stock).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741395
But in step 4, instead of CWM, i flashed TWRP recovery, because I like it more. Process remain the same.
But PLEASE ! Read before you attempt to do anything.
I did search for like 3 hours trying to find something that would work with 4.4.4 and never came across this but thank u I'll take a look. I already have it unlocked and clock work instilled but I guess I can't get super user to install. I'm not sure

Hi, bjballar41...
Rooting the Nexus 7 is a piece of cake... well, I think so anyway.
Essentially, it's a three stage process...two of which you've already accomplished.
1) Unlock the bootloader. Check... YOU'VE DONE!
2) Flash a Custom Recovery. Check... YOU'VE DONE! (ClockWorkMod installed).
*****
3) Using that Custom Recovery, flash ChainFires SuperSU root package. YET TO BE DONE...
-----------------------
Here's how...
The third piece of this jigsaw can be found here...
http://download.chainfire.eu/567/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip
Using Chrome (or whatever Android browser you favour) download it directly to your Nexus 7.
Chrome, and most Android browsers, download stuff to the /download folder on your device. Wherever it gets downloaded to, it's important that you take note of it's location.
-----------------------
Next, boot into your Custom Recovery (CWM), as follows...
** Fully shut down the device.
** With your N7 shut down... press & hold the VOL DOWN button... whilst holding, press POWER ON.
** Your N7 should now boot into the bootloader.
** Using either of the volume buttons, cycle through the options until you see the RECOVERY MODE option. Press the Power button to select it.
** Your Nexus 7 should now boot into your Custom Recovery, CWM.
** From the the CWM menu options, select the following...
- install zip
- choose zip from /sdcard
- select 0/ from the menu option
- navigate to the folder where you downloaded the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip file to earlier
** Select it, and confirm... YES - Install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip.
** Then tap Go Back (at the bottom) followed by Reboot System Now.
** Ignore any 'Fix Root messages'... this is a spurious CWM error message. Ignore it, and just proceed with a reboot.
-----------------------
Your Nexus 7 should now be rooted. ...hopefully...
I've just run this exact procedure on my Nexus 7, and I had no problems at all.
You can check you have root via a plethora of root checking tools available on PlayStore, or just by installing and running Titanium.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
Rgrds,
Ged.

I would recommend you to convert to f2fs and use ART.
Try slimkat(all-f2fs) its fast and never slows down even after a month and tons of apps.
For playing around you can try Liquid smooth or Mahdi.
What do I have to do to convert to f2fs? Im so rusty I haven't put a ROM on since galaxy s2

[GUIDE] Systemless Root of your Nook Tab S2 710

With Barnes & Noble now selling the Galaxy Tab S2 710 (32gb) for $299 in the U.S. (and an extra 10% off if you're a B&N member), I picked one up yesterday and immediately came here to research rooting and set up. What I found were a lot of guides written a while ago, and a lot of confusing (at least to me) information. So I thought I would consolidate, in one place, in a new thread, what I eventually did, on the assumption that there might be a lot of new Tab S2 owners in the coming weeks. Obviously, you undertake these steps at your own risk, and YMMV. Also, hopefully equally obviously, none of the fantastic tools here are original with me -- credit goes to all those, like chainfire, ashyrx, wanam, engine95 and many more who have built and/or developed them.
1. If your Tab comes with anything but 5.1.1 XXU2BPB1, feel free to take the OTA update. In the US, it's the most current build as of 4.30.16 and you will still be able to root.
2. If you don't already have it, download Odin 3.10.7. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
When you run Odin in Windows, probably better to run it in administrator mode (right click on the icon), although I haven't always found that to be necessary.
3. Flash a Custom Recovery using the PDA tab of Odin. Put your Tab into Download mode by turning it off, then pressing and holding the Home, Power and Volume Down buttons all at the same time. When the download screen comes up, press the Volume Up button to continue. Now you're ready to attach your Tab to your PC. Load TWRP 3.0.2-1 from Ashyx's thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-7-x-lollipop-5-1-1-t3205686 into Odin. Follow his instructions carefully -- once the custom recovery flashes, you have to manually reboot into the new recovery (so untick the auto-reboot option in Odin) or else your new custom recovery gets overwritten and you go back to your stock recovery.
4. Backup your Stock Rom -- While you're still in TWRP (or if you've already rebooted, go back to it), it would make sense to do a full backup of your stock ROM. That way you can restore your Tab to its original state if you ever need or want to.
5. Root -- Here's where I found the most confusion on these forums. You can do a systemless root -- i.e., keeping a stock, SE Enforcing, kernel (as opposed to flashing a permissive kernel and always getting the red SE Noneforcing Kernel message on a reboot and/or needing to use CF-Auto-Root). All you need to do is install Super SU 2.71 (BETA). Get the zip from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133 and put it on your Tab. Then flash using the "Install" choice within your TWRP recovery. Reboot -- and when TWRP asks you whether you want to install SuperSU because you're not rooted -- you have to say "NO" (OK, that's counterintuitive, but chainfire's instructions are clear).
5. Debloat -- That's beyond this thread's scope, but I recommend Titanium Backup from the Play Store. If you want to get rid of the "Nook" logo on reboot, flash the zip file from post #2 of Engine95's thread (using TWRP) found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development/rom-neked-nook-oj1-5-1-1-710-t3317823
6. SD Card Fix -- if you find your third party apps can't write to your SD Card, the attachment below describes how to fix it. If this type of editing scares you (make a backup first!), the Play Store app SD Card Fix supposedly still works with Lollipop and you can try that.
7. Netflix Fix -- for some reason, Netflix doesn't like root on the Nook Tab. The fix for this is as simple as renaming the file "system/lib/liboemcrypto.so" (using a root explorer of your choice) as "system/lib/liboemcrypto.so.bak"
8. Xposed -- I happen to like Xposed and don't find it messes up anything, while giving you a ton of customization options. Installation is a two-step process. First, find the correct version of wanam's Xposed zip from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960, and flash it using TWRP. For Lollipop on the S2, I used his SDK 22-arm version (SDK 23 is for Marshmallow). Don't worry if the reboot takes a long time -- that's normal. Then, once rebooted, simply install wanam's Xposed apk (XposedInstaller_3.0_Alpha4) that's available in the same thread.
That's it. I hope this saves some of you a lot of my trial and error, and, if it does, please press the "thanks" button.
EDIT -- Here's a #9 I just discovered --- Microsoft Office apps, although pre-installed on the device, will not open once you're rooted (or maybe it's just flashing TWRP that does it). Moreover, if you uninstall and try a re-install from the Play Store, if you're like me, you'll get a device not compatible message. My solution was to sideload the apks (e.g., Word, Excel and Powerpoint) from my Note 4, but I suspect you could also change your device ID within your build.prop file (backup first!) and get a similar result.
ANOTHER EDIT (5.2.16) -- #10 -- I can't get Google Play Movies to work at all on my T710 after rooting. Tried renaming libemcrypto.so without luck. Tried editing boot.prop to disguise myself as a Nexus 10. Tried the Xposed module Root Cloak. All no good. Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks! I just got a new nook and have started to come into these forums and also noticed the old and randomly updated threads. I appreciate the clear instructions. Are there any roms right now that you are recommending?
