What kind of sorcery is this? - Moto Maxx General

I have been with the phone for 6 months, and it still impresses me: 3 days with a single charge with WiFi and LTE mix usage.
I think is pretty cool, taking in mind that ~4hrs SOT is the average for most Android phones over a day, and this phone reaches that and last 3 times more.

Since I disabled Google Play Services from mobile data, I have decent results with the battery. It seems that Lollipop is doing its magic.

I'm stil not sure, I always use my phone normally, this is the only phone I have so I can't have the luxury to not use it or use it for tests.
I have noticed an improve on battery since I restricted the background data for Google Play Services while I´m on mobile data, I just care about syncing Google stuff while I'm on WiFi.
Besides of that, 3 email accounts, Twitter, WhatsApp and everything else is enabled. I have just disabled all the Moto Actions except the one for camera.

Exactly this is what made the magic for me.

Ok, I feel like a fool. So my Turbo dies regularly. I have GPS on high accuracy, I use Lux for brightness, and I'm on the phone constantly. So I want to get some better battery life but I'm not willing to constantly adjust settings to do this. Where do I shut off the background data...I looked but don't see it.

P.D. I have noticed that @Jaocagomez restricted the Play Store, but instead you should disable the Google Play Services (the one with 2.89MB). Just be sure to restrict the correct one and you should be fine.

I guess I'm still confused. I am looking at the data usage of Google Services, and it's .02 GB over about 2 weeks. Why would restricting the background data save battery life as it's so little data usage. Or does it help battery life as it's constantly hunting even though it's using so little?

Are you looking at just data usage or battery usage stats too? There could easily be a pretty big difference, considering the processing that may be going on beneath the actual data transactions.
(I'm jumping in on this because I might learn something too.)

It's not about the data itself, I also had really little amount of data being used, but is the Google Play Services themselves that is constantly working and sending information to the Google servers. This implies a big impact on battery, because the phone it's not in deep sleep somehow. At least that is what helped me a lot to increase my battery time, for sure I noticed a change before and after restricting the data for this particular service.

Google Play Services was the top application on my battery graph although the application itself wasn't representing a huge amount of mobile data consumption. So as I said, I think that Google Play Services are just draining battery with no almost mobile data.

Odd, my phone never shows Google PLAY Services in data usage, just Google Play Store and Google Services.
I'm a bit hesitant to disable Google Services, sounds like it would break many features.

How much is Google Services effecting your battery?

Why is Google Services taking up so much of my battery use? The CPU total is only 38s and the keep awake time is 3m 16s.
By contrast, HD Widgets has used 5m 3s of CPU time and 23m 35s of keep awake, but has a far less percentage of battery life.
Any ideas?

How often do you actually use your phone? Judging by the list of apps in your screen shot and minimal screen on time, im assuming your phone is in standby more often than not. If that's the case, then the Google services are using more battery by comparison simply because you're not doing anything else that's using battery. That list shows usage by comparison. If you're concerned about it, open the Currents app and go into settings and disable notifications, also disable unnecessary notifications and updates for your Google accounts (books, magazines, photo upload, etc.) From settings > Google. Could also be Google Now.
Download gsam battery for more info on what's using battery.
And don't forget, the way that screen works is that it's saying Google services used 60% of the 17% that has been depleted, which equals about 9% in over 4 hours.

I have done some tests over the last couple of days and it seems like the issue (if it really is an issue) relates to Tasker and using location by cell/network towers to activate/deactive tasks. I have turned these tasks off and programmed NFC tags to take its place for now.
No real battery gain by NOT using these tasks that use cell/network loction to be honest so it does not seem like google services is draining our battery enough to notice a difference.
After i disabled google now and google location services i no longer see "Google Services" show up in battery use. Previously it was just destorying my battery but now all is well :good:

I came to the same conclusion you did regarding tasker and cell near. I implemented this solution: http://tasker.wikidot.com/yanawa
which minimizes the location checks and so far I think it's faring a lot better. I'm going to play around with your NFC idea though.

Facebook was the only thing I disabled because of wakelocks, I disabled the others cause I don't use them.
Apologies, I was being mischievous, but it is more than obvious that if you disable all the interactive services you will make the battery live longer, so I don't see the need for a thread giving this as advice..
Normal use (using browser a lot, playing music, Facebook, 4G on) I get 5h+ screen on. This phone is a beast battery department.
My S4 had troubles topping 4h screen on (pacman rom though) don't remember stock roms, but still couldn' possibly beat this.

I have found that although connecting to my home wifi is fine, connecting to the guest wifi at work eats my battery. I now just use my mobile data connection at work. You can try to enable the "Smart Network Switch" - there is an option somewhere in Wi-Fi settings. This enables the mobile data if the Wi-Fi connection is unstable/weak, so it avoids eating your battery but at the same time you can benefit from Wi-Fi when possible.
What is shown at App usage in Gsam? Anyways, have you got that since the beginning. If yes and you used smart switch set your device up as a new, also had cruel battery life at first, but after setting the device up from scratch (also set it up as new device at the play store and didn't restore) it got pretty neat.
I thought it was established that package disabler actually made battery life worse on the s7? I was originally using it when I first got the phone and my battery life took a significant dive. Once I uninstalled it and disabled google/samsung reporting as well as wifi/bluetooth scanning, it has solved everything. I am able to get a solid day and 4 hours out of one charge of my s7 Edge.

This all wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for the application called "shut app".. With the s7, edge I was managing about 4hr30 min screen on time and then I installed the app shut app, it closes out all these silly background processes but still allows you to get notifications from Facebook and Instagram.
Once I installed the app the s7 edge had amazing battery life and went increased to about 6 hours screen on.
Now comparing this g5 to the s7 edge, the s7 edge had a major battery drain issue from Android system!! How else do you explain this screen on time doing just as well as the monster battery the s7 edge has??
I obviously have every vibration off, WiFi is only on while I'm at home, I have adguard installed and it just got updated to milestone and I no longer see it in the battery section affecting battery life. I have insurance on my phone so I turn Google location reporting off. I turn off all usage reporting in Google also. I have sync always on, I have too for work. I only have one account syncing, that's my Google.

So I'm thinking at worse, I haven't compromised time between charges.

It was just at 3 hours when I posted those shots. I won't be at my "average" daily use for a few days, but by comparison for me, I was running my droid turbo through a lot of videos and internets same time last weekend, and it was dead by 2pm. So I'm thinking at worse, I haven't compromised time between charges.

Terrible battery life so far
My battery life is terrible ... I have LG-H820 and after setting it up i'm barely touching it because i'm busy with something ... Even did a factory reset and set it up from scratch again ... No dice ... Look below:
EDIT: My "Screen ON" time is only 41 min.

You have an app that is destroying your battery life. I'd look into it. I've been seeing very positive things for the moment about this phone both here and in forums and reddit.

Yep, some app is trashing my battery ... But the funny thing is that i have no apps installed besides "GSam Battery Monitor". Bone stock and i've disabled some google preinstalled apps (Gmail, Hangouts, Photos, PlayMusic, Google Docs, Sheets) and all of the ATT apps that can be disabled. Not sure what is calling this com.lge.ia.task.informant process that is trashing my battery. Obviously, i've logged in with Google account so i can get access to PlayStore and i've configured my outlook.com email as an Exchange account. My outlook.com account is a must ...
Right now i suspect that the problem is related to the com.lge.exchange (com.lge.ia.task.informant seem as part of it?) but i do not see any problems with my outlook.com account on any other device (i've confiscated my brother's s7 edge for my testing yesterday and today and i've violated my work rules by adding personal email on my work iPhone 6s plus).
Anybody else with this rouge com.lge.ia.task.informant process/service problem?

Question Battery Drain

How's the battery drain on your device?
mine seem to drain really quickly...just using chrome it can drain almost 1% a minute.
For me, it's pretty good, I have 5-6h SOT in almost 48h

Awesome... In my previous Mi11 Xiaomi i had 3.5/4hrs SOT Max, now with a full usage (Game, Call, Web, Music (Deezer), GPS (Waze)) i have without proble 6.5/7.5 hrs SOT.
It's the phone with the best optimisation i've never had.
It seems it's true this SoC has really been optimized for Nothing, you can feel the difference like a homemade SoC (Tensor, Apple)

Nothing Phone (1) review
The Nothing Phone (1) employs a 6.55-inch OLED of premium quality - it offers 10-bit color depth and can display up to 1B of colors; there is 120Hz...

Its below other 778G phones. Such battery is normal in midrange and 888 was the worst Snapdragon
Do You experience high drain after the night? Like 8-10 hours of sleep result is like 12-14% drain.
It should be like 0,3-0,6% per hour max.
Battery life for me hasn't been impressive. On 1.1.3, I unplug at 5am and by 4-5pm I am down to 20% battery while running on LTE with 5G option off. Average SOT on such cases is around 5hrs. No gaming, just messaging, a few calls, browsing and streaming YouTube, and listening to music. So for my use case scenario it will usually die before I can get home from work.
Guys I've found that for some reason, on my EU 1.1.3 version, there is an app called Log Tool (NTLogTool.apk) which is draining my battery all the time. I checked all the apps, and pretty sure that Nothing internal apps is the reason. I disabled and restricted apps, as you can see on screenshot. Now it only takes 6% for 8 hours sleep, before was 15-20%!

I don't even have this and my battery life is REALLY good. Maybe you forgot to uncheck unnecessary things when you configure your phone ?

but it's the nft stuff right? I don't have any apps nft related, but you even have NFT Gallery. I don't remember exactly but I think you could have deactivated the web 3 stuff when you configure your phone on a higher firmare.

When the phone came, it was on 1.0.2, and I've configured phone on this version, than it was updated to 1.1.3. There is no possibility to update to 1.1.3 first

But it's true, used the phone around 2 weeks and the accubattery app says 10 hours sot. I mainly use reddit, whatsapp, discord and youtube.
