Does anybody know if it's possible for a mod/hack to be created that would allow for audio to stream over micro-usb/usb? Similar to iPhone..
Right now connecting the phone to car stereo via USB only reads stored audio, but can't play tune-in radio for example over the usb.
Audio currently cannot be directed over USB
Hi,
Got a stock UK D802 16GB on Kit Kat 4.4.2 (Software version D80220d-EUR-XX).
What is compatibility like with OTG USB DACs such as the Fiio E18 on stock 4.4.2?
Do any of the custom Kit Kat firmwares work better with OTG USB DACs?
Do I need to use USB Audio Player PRO?
Thanks,
J
My Fiio E18 just got delivered tested with Shure SE435 and Sennheiser HD650 playing Apple Lossless.
Native Music player, Poweramp, Google Music... no sound via USB.
USB Audio Player PRO works perfectly via USB.
Using E18 via analogue from G2 headphone socket in is an improvement, but the left channel noise bug is clearer and as annoying as ever.
As a comparison tested with my portable options listed here in order of sound quality with Shure SE435 IEMs.
Best - LG G2 USB OTG to USB in on Fiio E18 with USB Player Pro
2nd - 4th Gen iPod Classic via Fiio LOD (line out cable) to analogue in on E18
3rd - 4th Gen iPod Nano via Fiio LOD (line out cable) to analogue in on E18
4th - 4th Gen iPod Classic headphone jack
5th - 4th Gen iPod Nano headphone jack
6th - LG G2 via 3.5mm headphone to analogue in on E18.
7th - LG G2 headphone jack direct.
Apart from the left channel noise bug the G2 is fine for casual listening but LG need to fix that bug and get OTG USB DACs working again for native android.

Update, the free trial version of USB Audio Player PRO caused some issues with normal audio, started to get USB error when inserting headphone jack and no sound on headphones.
Fix was to uninstall free trial version of USB Audio Player PRO.
Fixed!
Delivered today was the cheapest (GBP 2.49) Micro USB OTG adapter I could find on Ebay UK.
Listed as: LG Optimus G2 D802 E960 Google Nexus 4 OTG Adapter Host Cable USB to Micro USB
Seller: good-seller-uk
Using the OTG adapter with the Fiio E18 works in both PC and Phone modes with Power Amp, Amazon MP3, Google Music, Tune In RadioPro and the LG Music player all working perfectly.
Incoming calls play the ringtone over USB audio but on accepting the call audio goes to handset only.
In addition my old Hotaudio Bitperfect DAC also works fine as well.

I wanted to take advantage that you have the same rig as me and wanted to ask you a question.
Does it worth the investment on a Fiio E18 for the LG G2? Can you stream out from Spotify app through USB OTG?
Lots of thanks!

Yes, In the office it works great via the OTG, but unwieldy for travel, so I am using the E18 with iPod 4G with Line Out Dock (LOD) when travelling.

Did not try Spotify but should work with the generic OTG cable, I can try it this weekend and post an update.

Would be great (Y)
Tested - Spotify works fine with the generic OTG adaptor with E18.
My e18 works with poweramp and other cable that came with the amp.
Good to know that I didn't need to buy the uapp app.
Are there any kernels that support either USB DAC's via OTG or USB Audio on 5.1 yet? My Behringer UCA-202 doesn't seem to work on 5.1.
I second this. It seems to be quite strange:
- It is working just fine on my nexus 10 with android 5.1, charge and usb play
- nexus 6 it doesn`t charge but plays just fine
- nexus 7 doesn`t charge and doesn`t play sound
Bought a DAC , sabre android, and was disappointed to find it doesn't work. Somebody made an issue saying no DACs work but it was closed with status:wrongforum, which seems off the mark: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=99031
Works with latest CM12 nightly.
Just got a USB headphone DAC/amp (Monolith THX portable) and it works, kinda. I can hear the system sound letting me know it's plugged in, can also hear videos, youtube, and game audio; but as soon as I try to play a music file it goes mute. Only thing I've found so far that works is using MX Player and forcing it to SW decoding, though that's not exactly my ideal music app. Any idea what's going on here?
You need USB 3.0 for Audio through USB.
Since Mi 9T/Redmi K20 already had 3.5mm Aux jack, the USB port is a 2.0 port as audio is the primary reason for USB 3.0.
So, there's no support for Audio through USB on the HW level itself.
Don't know if this relevant to your question or not, but I use Topping NX4 DSD portable Dac/amp and it works out of the box, and DSD Capable when using HiBy music app. Try to use HiBy music player and use it's exclusive USB driver. If not, buy UAPP (USB Audio Pro Player) or test the trial first to know if it work or not. Using dac/amp on android is a bit gambling as some works as simple as plugged in and some need driver provided from those app (like UAPP for instance).
I recently bought a usb type c headphone to use with a Galaxy tab s6 lite. Headphone works perfectly when playing media (through media channel-like music player, youtube, and spotify), but when answering a call or attending a zoom meeting, I get the audio via in built speaker, not via plugged in usb c headphones. I have enabled usb audio routing in developer options, but the problem is persisting.
What could be the reason for it? How do I overcome this? TIA
