I just checked for a software update on my stock ROM and it has definitely been released. Downloading now

This sucks, I don't have wifi at work and I can't download it till this evening lol
first world problems

damn, my OTA is not working, device modified.. heading to sammobile

I thought there was a 5.02?

I updated mine yesterday and it seemed a bit buggy/laggy here and there so I did a factory reset and now my battery won't charge with phone on. It goes down 1% every 5 minutes or less. It will only charge with phone off and the it dies like 2 percent just booting up.

Tmo support says 5.0.2 is what should be what we are updating to, not 5.0.1?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using xda premium

Mines 5.0.1, battery is still pretty good, just slightly less than what it was on KitKat, super smooth running though

Almost done downloading

Anybody know what the difference is?

If you got the 5.0.1 update is there any way to update to the 5.0.2 update?

Well yea, just wait until someone can find it or its available. Then update as usual

Can we root this using the guide? Or do we have to wait for a rootable version?
[EDIT] I answered my own question - realized there's a thread about this.

That lollipop was huge, took the edge awhile to suck it in. For a while I thought it had shocked

Nothing but problems since I've upgraded..
Download and install went fine, but after it booted up for the first time, the battery would die 1% every couple minutes. I plugged it into the charger at work that I've used for months (nexus 5 charger) and it died even faster. I tried a factory reset and it still kept happening and the battery completely died. The only way it would charge is when the phone was off. So I waited a longggg time until it had about 15% and did another factory reset.
The phone seemed to work fine after the 2nd reset. Right now, certain apps will take a long time to open such as gallery. It doesn't force close. It just freezes and I have to press home button to cancel opening the app. Everything else works fine and battery life seems good.
I realized my LG charger at work that I've used for months now does not charge the phone. It will no longer charge the battery. I have the spare battery I got from Samsung with the 50% off any accessory deal. Neither battery will charge with any charger that isn't the fact charging samsung one. when it is plugged in, the battery depletes rather than charges. It will charge if the phone is off but very very slowly.

Laggy
Wow, lollipop is lagging hard. My edge is crawling AND I can't tap speaker when I answer calls on the edge, anyone else with same issue?

I noticed u have to slide the speaker shortcut on the edge like how u answer calls

[Q] Samsung Galaxy App drained battery?

I had I think about 80% Battery last night and went to sleep. Normally I only get about 5% to 10% drain when I sleep from notifications and things syncing which I am fine with. However I woke up and it was at 20%. I went into the battery settings to see what was draining it and it said Samsung Galaxy 40% stay awake for 5h 37m. and recieved data 130 mb and sent 4.52 mb which I have never seen that come up on the list of things using my battery before, and why would 130mb take 5 hours to recieve. I am attaching a picture as well of my screenshot. I am totally confused. There was no update on my phone ota either. I was on wifi the whole time since I was home.

Are you using the original battery that came stock with the phone or using a different battery? May be the issue here...
I am not rooted and I am trying to figure out what that is all it says is Samsung galaxy. This is the first time it has shown up on my battery stats.
Yes it is the orginal baettery. I bought it 17 days ago.
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Also this is the first time anything has drained my battery like that on this. I had an s4 before this one and never had this happen. Almost all same apps. Only added a few calender ones the days before this happened but they aren't even showing on battery use.
Sent from my Galaxy S5 using XDA Free mobile app
Well its showing up again. By this time tonight usually I have 75% battery life. Today it's at 63% doing the usual stuff with Samsung Galaxy using 10%. I really don't want to have to reset but this is becoming a problem.
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Seriously does anyone know what this app is and if it's OK to turn off. I really need to know what's going on and it's hard to Google cause it comes up with every page that says Samsung Galaxy.
sent from my Samsung Galaxy S5
I froze that app and 120+ other random things I don't want. :good:
edit to add this app is Social Networking Service so all that background happenings is from facebook, etc.
If it is connected to Facebook why would it be showing up now? It's not interfering with my Facebook since I turned it off and I never have had anything with Facebook drain my battery like that. I am glad I haven't seen anything not work on my phone since I turned it off but I was still having some sudden battery drain all of a sudden. I am really confused. This never happened on my s4 and I have had this one over two weeks and it just started happening. I am not using the phone any differently.

VZW 5.0.1 Update....Finally!

So I plug my phone into my laptop at work and, to my surprise, VZW Update Assistant launched notifying me of an update. Sure enough, it's the Lollipop update! Let me know if any of you Big Red guys received this as well!
Stop playing with us.

Not a problem at all, my friend!
Surprise! The download/update started 3 hours ago and now has failed. I go to start the repair option and it said my phone is not charged enough to repair. WONDERFUL.
Ah! I just got a reimaged Verizon Note Edge back from Samsung (it had developed a line of dead pixels and was fixed) ... Kies 3 keeps saying the device is not supported, and when I plug it in the Verizon Software Update doesn't pop up.
EDIT: Surface Pro 3 doesn't have enough amps for this device ... got it working when I plugged in to the dock.
thanks man for the reminder. only wish it was 5.1.1

Not a problem. I was thinking that VZW may have been holding off on 5.0.1 and update us right to 5.1.1. Wishful thinking, I know. Now all we need is root.
Just updated without wiping. Going on an hour of updating a lot of apps, reactivating advanced calling, and making a few tweets. So far it's running decent after 5 or 6 restarts. Thanks for the heads up!!! Definitely wish that it would have been 5.1.
Funny thing is the Edge beat my girlfriends Droid Turbo that is getting the soak test as we speak. I used to have a turbo and got the soak and was pissed. Now she is pissed that I have lollipop. Lol.
Finally!
I used Verizon update asst. 25 mins I was all updated.. Kies takes forever.

Yea, Update Assistant is the way to go. It took no time at all.
Sweet! It worked.

I fought with the verizon program and I was able to recover my edge to lollipop after it had soft brick. Running the program as an admin finally got it to see the phone again when it was stuck in download mode. Just a note for any others having issues.

Is anyone else having trouble changing their lock screen animation? It says tiles but it's greyed out so I can't click on it and it's just a plain lock screen

Worked great for me through Kies ty!
Kies and Verizon Software Assistant
Both Kies and Verizon Software Assistant bricked my phone, in both cases they got to around 50% and then an error. I was able to fix by downloading the firmware (I could only find this on one SLOW server) and flashing myself using Odin.

I received the update in the morning. Have used the tab briefly 15 min after update. The display quality has improved, it appears more crispy, colors are more vibrant. One thing noticeable is, it is blazing fast. Have played NFS most wanted for few minutes, and it was a piece of cake.
Will spare more time with it in evening.
blazing fast..
Blazing fast android 5.1 played several games like asphalt 8.. And believe me guys not a single lag + better graphics than kitkat....☺
benchmark
Antutu score 39839
Browsing in Google chrome is also buttery smooth
Got it today, the update needs a lot of time, cause of many reboots for optimizsation of all installed apps. But finally it works.
awesome got min today aswell.. never thought this tablet would get it hahah.
It's taken me flashing back stock recovery (quite reasonably since wouldn't install with TWRP as others have found) and taking off the excellent Shaky kernel (and actually reinstalling a full stock system since my wifi wasn't working when I just flashed the stock kernel back) ... and I'm all upgraded and good to go . Pleasant surprise for a Friday, since like many I'd given up expecting the upgrade!
Is it just me or does the upgrade kill internal memory?
Any one sight laggy menu ? For me L brings tons of lags...
why cant I access internal memory ...!!!

Anyone having fast charging issue after the last firmware update

I have 2 S7e and the only thing common with both is the recent firmware update which causes Fast Charging to stop working. I have already tried several chargers, cables and QC 2.0 battery pack. Wireless Fast Charing works fine but not Cable Fast Charging. The Fast Charing switch is turned on in the setting.
I've noticed that Samsung's implementation of QuickCharge 2.0 is anything but, I am only getting about 1000mA at the very most per Ampere. My Nexus 6p routinely got 2870 mA while charging, and same with a ZTE Axon I had for a hot second.
Also, I wouldnt be surprised of some crippling by this latest update, due to the battery explosion problems being seen on Samsung devices.
Using the app, it shows the device is charging under 200 mA. Painfully slow. Even when plugged into a charger. It detects as USB charging, not AC.
Weird, I haven't had this at all.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
They did the same thing on the Note 7 before finally killing it. in the API4 FW it killed fast charge.
Yea i also have same issue.fast charging is slow as compared to b4(update)..new update must have done something.
Wanted to know what firmware you guys are on that is causing the problem. I just purchased my T-Mo S7E and couple weeks ago and I don't remember receiving a update because my quick charging seems to be working fine. This phone charges just as fast as my M8, M9 and G4 did. Especially considering it has a larger battery. Here is the software that I'm currently running and what Ampere says I'm pulling in using this Quick charger. I've never used the Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charger, and this is the charger I used on the phones I mentioned previously. Oh and here is a screenshot of a update I just recently received from T-Mo but haven't accepted yet.

Do not accept that update. I advise that you wait. I've noticed my phone randomly rebooting on a daily basis. It's annoying. T-Mobile even gave me a replacement and it's still doing the same thing.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yeah thing is my S7 has been doing that before the update. Actually it has been doing it randomly since I bought it. No rhyme or reason why but every once in a while it will reboot on its own and this was before the update so I don't think it has anything to do with it. Well at least not for my phone.
Skipped this update and took the 4APK1 updated but cleared my partition cache first, no problems so far and fast charging works, went from 20% to 99% in just over an hour with the phone turned off while charging.

I claimed the warranty. It took them 3 weeks to get the replacement phone to the store. No loaner, no option to exchange for other color in stock. Very very bad. My last tmobile branded phone for sure.

I recently did an insurance exchange through t mobile's company, I received my phones quick through them( 1 to 2 days) but they couldn't get me the same color(black). I wasn't happy about it.
Dang, lucky. They refuse to send me the silver and made me wait for the black to come in. The discontinued the black so I'm not sure what's the point to try to replace my black with another one fresh from the factory.

For the H850, European version. I live in Romania, if it helps. Like I said, I made it with LG Bridge, since the KDZ for Romania isn't out yet (on lg-firmwares.com) so I can flash it with LG UP.

No only G5, my dead G4's battery drained quickly when bluetooth is on, even when there is no BT connection at all.
flashed 20p on my Netherlands EU H850 which had 20k version. Please note that I could not successfully upgrade it so had to wipe entire phone (sd card data was fine).
as for me.... i see at the SS that the phone still drains the battery while not being used at night...

battery drain at night is also possible due to your cell signal reception quality, especially in a bad reception area this variable can drain your battery quite a lot.
nevertheless I noticed a significant improvement on this new 20p, I ordered a new battery a week ago and decided it was a nice point to start fresh with a new firmware.
was worth the couple hours I invested.
fingers crossed

I'm on 20p and still have same problem. However I did update ota. I'll find 20p firmware and start a fresh. I had no issue on marshmallow. But nougat is smoother and nicer to use. I'd love to keep it. I'll try what you suggested and use LG up.
---------- Post added at 09:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:32 PM ----------
No I'm not. I'm on s firmware following more updates. Don't tell me s broke it again. Maybe I should just flash brand new firmware using LG up. The problem could be caused by updating ota.
So i installed latest 20s firmware using lg bridge and battery drain with screen off was 3 percent an hour. That means over 1/3 of your battery is lost with phone doing nothing. With my collection of apps phone only sleeps 40 percent of the time. I downgraded back to marshmallow and it's 90 percent asleep with same apps. Battery drain only 1.5 percent an hour. Can cope with that as using Bluetooth smart watch and lots off syncs. Interestingly the battery life of my garmin smart watch drops to 2 days when using nougat from 7 days when using marshmallow. But uninstalling garmins app and turning off Bluetooth only improves standby drain by 0.1 percent on the G5.
Nougat ok if you set location to GPS only
Back to nougat. It's just much smoother than marshmallow and heats up less. Seems the problem is the location settings. With this on GPS only and no WiFi scanning I get much less wakelocks.
It's made a whole day with 4 hours 30 screen on.
Can't complain at that. About what I'd expect given screen and battery size. Some of that transferring photo's over WiFi and playing games. Rest browsing the web.
