Change firmware (region too) from mdn to evr

Hi well i did buy thes4 from a swedish reseller and i recieved the french XEF firmware i just wonder is it safe to flash the device with the uk evr version
of firmware couldn't really see why it should be any hassle and i want to do this thru odin then too i know there is firmwares available for kies too
But isnt it better to do such things thru odin in download mode ?
I have I9505XXUAMDN
and i want the I9505XXUBMG7_I9505EVRBMF5_EVR
Bought the phone from a swedish reseller and it wasn't that easy or fun to locate the settings for language in french lol when i inserted my sim
I have the same problem. I bought SGS4 from German reseller, csc is DBT, and I want to change German firmware to Polish with csc XEO. How can I accomplish that ? Is it the same procedure as in sgs3 ? I browse in Odin for firmware file in PDA field (phone in download mode off course) and just start the process ? I've heard that in sgs4 it is a bit more complicated, that I have to root phone first ? Is it true ?

You can flash any compatible firmware for your device with Odin 3.04, roms can be found here www.sammobile.com/firmware. They don`t have to be region specific.
You don`t need root to flash firmwares with Odin!
so you are saying that if I now have XXUBMGA (i think it is unbranded, but I have one doubt about it, after makin update some german apps was automatically installed in my phone - i can uninstall them) I can flash it to polish rom with odin just by putting rom into pda and check 'auto reboot' and 'f. reset time' and I wont kill my phone and csc will change to XEO and in future I will be able to udpate phone via kies or OTA ?

Yes, you can flash the XEO rom but you will not receive OTA`s for the XEO rom as the product ID will still be DBT. You will have to keep flashing future updated roms with Odin3.04.
Exactly, so my question is how to change to product code to xeo ?

Why would you? Changing the product code will surely kill your warranty as it is linked to your Imei number. OTA`s suck anyway, its better to flash the updated rom with Odin and do a data factory reset afterwards.
But i will lose everything after making factory reset, right ? Let's just suppose i dont care about warranty - in that case, how can I change CSC ? And maybe next question, I ment about it earlier - what about those apps which are installing after any update: -HRS Hotels, -Kauf.da and couple of others, how to make them not to install after updating my phone (I can uninstall them but they are annoying)
anyone ?
helloooo

[Q] Flashing stock

Hello,
Firstly i searched the forum for a good answer but didn't find one. Sorry in advance if this question has been already answered and i didn't see the thread \ post.
I would like to change my firmware from 4.2.2 NB5 ORO CSC to 4.2.2 ND5 ( or the latest ) NEE CSC. Is that possbile via odin without changing my CSC ? I mean if i just flash it directly will it work ?
My phone is not rooted and i know that in order to change the CSC i have to rood it. My phone is also locked on my carrier, Orange.
Thank you and sorry if this is a repost of something similar.

You can flash the ROM without updating your CSC IF the AP file does not contain the CSC file. If the ROM does not specify in its name that it only includes XXX or YYY without any mention of CSC, then you're fine (Assuming you download from Sammobile). If it does say something related to CSC codes or there are 3 model numbers (different or not) on the file name, then it includes the CSC.
You don't need to root to change CSC. You need the Samsung dialer code + your IMEI number, which will factory reset your phone but change your CSC.

This is the ROM i wanted to flash. I'm not quite sure if it includes or not what you said. It should be NEE CSC so i think i can't flash it...right ? :-s
If i can't flash it, can you give me a link to an example firmware that i can flash, other than my stock ORO CSC rom ?
The dialer code + IMEI doesn't work for me. I tried * # 272 *IMEI # and it says the code is invalid. Maybe because i'm branded on Orange ?

That is a full ROM. It includes everything - AP, CP and CSC.
I don't understand, do you just want to get rid of your ORO CSC ROM? You should be able to install your NEE ROM perfectly fine.

Yes, i want to fully get rid of this ROM because updates on this CSC are so friggin slow it's driving me mad. I want to completly move to NEE ROM. So i can flash this ROM perfectly with the instructions on Sammobile in the link right ?

You'll have to unlock your phone first on a website, then you're free to install any ROM from any country. If not it will still be locked to Orange.

No problem about that, i am still gonna be on Orange anyway. I don't want to unlock it just want to get a different ROM with a newer build number so i can (probably) get away from this stupid battery drain.

Give it a go, if you can't get it to work, just reflash your stock Orange.
The absolute worst thing that could happen is that KNOX would go 0x1, but you will still get your updates. If that happens, you should really just use custom ROMs, they're wonderful and updates more often.

I know about custom ROMs and i've been looking and them and i really wish i would have the gut to just screw my warranty but i can't do it just now. I've had some problems with my old Xperia Z and i'm lucky i had custom roms but on locked BL so i could claim my warranty. I can't even root it and it's just killing me but meh...
okay, i'll give it a go thanks for the advice and time spent answering to me ! Cheers !

CSC is your region\carrier customization. It dictates what your updates are , what they contains and when you get them . I want to change it but i know ( i might be wrong about this ) that it's only possible via rooting, wich i can't do atm
OK so i flashed the NEE straight on my NB4 ORO firmware and it worked flawlessly.
So for everybody that is asking this: you can flash any full ROM with any CSC on top of any other CSC . This is my experience and i hope it goes well with you ! Good luck !

CSC is Customer Sales Code. You want to change it when you want to debrand/debloat your phone by removing carrier-specific apps or update it to another carrier's update stream (to get a different carrier's upgrades). It also allows for you to get correct APN values if your carrier's auto assign doesn't work properly.
You don't need root to change it, you need Odin and the CSC package. You can use the Samsung code + IMEI as a last resort.

Good job man! But you have to be aware, I did some research before you did it. It does not apply to all devices. As the Russian ORO and Nordic Countries are the "same" region, I automatically assumed you bought your device in Europe, hence you won't be region locked out of your device. If you had a Hong Kong device you will have to take account for your storage difference (whether its 16GB or 32GB) as ROMs are usually for the 32GB PIT (bootloader), and any flashing of other region based ROMs COULD brick your device.

Nice find , thanks for pointing it out. I don't think I have a region lock, it didn't have any of the stickers that usually say it's region locked. But yea, my version is from Europe.
p.s. ORO is from Romania

I can only see SER and MGF CSC on sammobile . It doesn't matter anyway because it seems in the end it's ok to flash anything inside your region

Stock firmware

Since i got the s4 i played alot with the custom roms and stock roms. i want to know which fimware country came with the device. i don't want to install any firmware from sammobile. can anyone tell me how to know that ?
Is this phone unlocked? If so, you can install any stock ROM you want that matches the device model number. The CSC in this case does not matter and in fact the CSC may change to something other than the country you're downloading for. As an example, I downloaded firmware with a CSC of BTU, installed it on my phone, watched as three Swiss apps were installed on the phone (all easy to remove) and discovered that the CSC changed to AUT.
Other than sammobile, the only alternative that I know of is samsung-updates.com. But tell me, what is the problem with sammobile.com?

csc help. PLEASE READ AND HELP.

Hi guys i am starting this thread asking for a bit of help with csc on my n910f.
I have seen a lot of single csc custom roms that i wouldnt mind trying out but i need to have a BTU csc . I asked this question on a custom rom page and he mentioned there are ways to flash a rom without changing current csc but cant find any info on that. I also wondered if its possible that if the rom has a single csc file wpuld i be able to change that file to BTU csc. If any of this is possible can someone be kind enough to help me out please. Thanks in advance.
Maybe this thread can help you.
thanks for reply I have got the btu csc he has done on the post. I cant seem to flash over a single csc custom rom. is there anyway I can put my csc into the rom .zip file and install the rom and my own csc with it?
Can you explain which steps are you following to flash roms?
Clean flash. Start with official fw. Flash twrp recovery and then flash rom. Some of the roms iv been trying to use are single csc roms not multi. Tried phone info app. Obviously cant change csc if its a single csc rom. Tried flash btu csc.tar via odin and reset rom but doesnt change if im using single csc rom. Wondering if i can change the actual csc files in a custom rom to flash my csc with any rom i need to try.

Was on Android 10 while writing this thread, on 11 now
Have you finally sorted it out nolemretaW, or you still struggling to change it?
no, i gave up after spending money on samkey
does anyone know if i can flash a csc that will remove the carrier bloatware on the a405s?
also does anyone know if i can flash a405fn firmware to a405s via odin?
Yes U can. That's what I always do. I usually flash German firmware DBT over polish XEO, less bloatware. Where are you from?
