[Q] "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped."

After flashing the SKYFALL (6.1) my GS 4(AT&T I337, NC1), I am getting an error box as soon as I swipe the locked screen that says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped." each time after reboot. I hit OK twice and continue ( I noticed that the 4G LTE lost a couple seconds and shows up again) and am seeing no other problems, but it is annoying and a bit disturbing. This happened only after reboot the phone.
I search online, and tried:
1.) cache wipe
2.) Settings->applications manager- / Choose reset app preferences / Choose Reset Apps
3.) Settings - date and time setting - turn off automatic time zone.
4.) go to setting >> app manager >> all app >> phone >> clear data ?
and no lucky.
However, I run stock rom or flash GoldenEye (for I9505, without 4G LTE?) there is no such problem.
Could someone please offer some advice? Thanks you.

Did you wipe cache and data in Safestrap before you ran the Aroma installer?

I did exactly the following
1.) Download the latest ROM, SuperSU, and your modules.
2.) Place them on root of your MicroSD card.
3.) In Safestrap, factory reset twice.
4.) Now wipe all except MicroSD card twice.
5.) Flash the ROM zip.
7.) Now flash the modules zip file.
8.) Now flash SuperSU update.
9.) Reboot and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Also, I flashed Goldeneye (also by iB4STiD) without such problem.

I just noticed the SKYFALL ROM you linked to is on NI1 base. That's your problem.

I took OTA to NI1. Everything's OK when using NI1 stock; after flashing SKYFALL, the same thing happened.
PS:
I tried the SlimSung (UCUFNI1 also) on my base NC1, everything's OK. However, slimsung is a slim version, I don't like it too much. So I took OTA to NI1...

Obviously you know what you're doing if you could get other ROMs on there with no trouble. I highly doubt this would cause that, but did you also flash the NI1 kernel modules and NI1 modem?
Only things that could be wrong in my book:
- Corrupted download (Try downloading it again)
- Wong version of Safestrap (NC1 and up use 3.72)
- One of the options you picked in Aroma is breaking it

For those coming from a previous 4.4.2 ROM or rooted NB1, NC1, or NI1...*
1. Reboot into Safestrap 3.72 Recovery
2. Wipe > Advanced Wipe > everything EXCEPT extsdcard*
3. Install latest ROM zip
4. In Aroma, select "Safestrap" version and continue through selections
5. When Aroma finishes, uncheck "reboot" option and then press "reboot" to exit back to safestrap.
6. Install ATT Modules
7. Install SuperSU
8. Reboot

but did you also flash the NI1 kernel modules and NI1 modem?

I followed exactly in guut13's thread post #5 under the title "NI1 ROOTED WITH SAFESTRAP" to upgrade to NI1.
I downloaded all the files to my PC folder "NI1" and checked all the MD5, all is OK
My Safestrap version is latest 3.72; also followed the steps in the post.
I saved the install guide to .doc file, and perform each step according to the guide.
I think the problem is weird. I flashed GoldenEye by iB4STiD also, no problem. (however, maybe there is no 4G LTE? or just the network icon problem? I am not quite sure, if this version support 4G LTE then I can use this version-I have backups)

Root lollipop on AT&T Note 3 without Safestrap!

IT CAN BE DONE​
Here's how I did it. (And don't blame me if you brick the phone, etc., etc....)
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THESE NOTES! Read them thoroughly!
1. Install stock NC2 (Instructions are all over)
2. Root with towelroot.
3. Install latest SU from the play store and update binary (you know the drill, right?)
4. See Chainfire's site here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/flashfire-t3075433 Get FlashFire
5. Place the AT&T stock lollipop .tar file on your SD card. It is available in the note 3 forum.
6. Run FlashFire. Once it has done its thing, click on the + sign.
7. Click on flash firmware package and navigate to the stock .tar file.
8. FlashFire will analyze the file and you will see a screen with partitions checked. These are the partitions that FlashFire can write (AND ROOT)
9. Click the download sign at the top on the red bar.
10. Click on the check mark to Create New Archive (FlashFire will create a .tar.md5 file take note of where it is saved and COPY TO YOUR PC BEFORE you run FlashFire! You will need it!
11. Next you will see the screen with ACTIONS on a red bar. Scroll to the bottom and touch FLASH
12. FlashFire will now write the partitions that are checked. When it reboots the phone, IMMEDIATELY hold the volume down, home, and power button to enter download.
13. Go to your PC where you copied the archive (that .tar.md5 fike). Right click on the file and choose rename. Remove the .md5 from the file name or odin will likely give you an error.
14. Open odin and connect your phone. Place the .tar archive FlashFire created in the AP section and flash. It will write the partitions that FlashFire could not.
15. Reboot and enjoy rooted lollipop on your phone.

Hate that I still have to wipe data to get it to boot at all, but a minor gripe I suppose. Just hate having to reinstall my apps and set them back up. Thanks for sharing this, been waiting for something like this for a while!

Yeah but if you're already on rooted nc2, why not just flash the stock rooted lollipop rom?

That's absolutely true. but think it is a matter of preference. I had some issues with Safestrap, but were it still supported for lollipop, I would probably still be there. I also had a soft brick when I attempted to do a backup, which supposedly still works by booting from the power screen. SO for those who would prefer a cleaner option, this might suit them better. Flashfire also has the potential to install other custom roms. I am still looking at that option.

this is the first post i've seen for the N900A that advised using Flashfire, all other posts required using Safestrap (which i personally did not like the idea of using just because it wasn't actually updating the OS on the phone, but essentially tricking the phone into loading a different set of files much like multi-booting). if it were possible to use Flashfire with the rooted lollipop roms, i'm surprised none of the thread OPs updated their posts to reflect that.

FlashFire has only been out since April. It is Chainfire's successor for Mobile Odin. It takes a while for all of the phones to be tested. There are a couple of other users that have tested it. Just search the FlashFire forum for Note 3 and you can read the comments. At least one other has used it on the AT&T variant.

reboot into download mode
I just finished your method successfully. Thank you. I would like to add that there was an option to reboot into download mode after flashing with FlashFire. I didn't have to worry
about immediately holding vol. down . I think the version of FlashFire I used is a little newer. Anyway thanks again!

Hi all,
I was able to go through all the steps but keep getting stuck on step 14. Odin fails at the very very end and never finishes. I have done the whole process 3 times over.
Questions:
1. When picking the .tar in step 7, I am selecting the largest file of lollipop. I believe it is an AP file about 2.2 Gigabytes. This is the right one to select in step 7??
2. On step 10 when it ask you to Create New Archive, do i check ALL the boxes?? Nothing is checked by default when i press the download sign in step 9.
Other than these two things, everything else seems to work nicely. I did also notice that when Flash Fire runs and writes the system, wipe is set to OFF. I figured it was like that on purpose but just saying.

Sorry for the delay. I have moved on to the S6, so been busy with it.
For step 7, choose whichever ROM you wish to use. The one you have should be fine.
With regards to the second question, Flashfire should check the files in step 8 that are needed for the archive. Are you using a stock rom for step 7? If not, it might be able to flash without a separate tar file.

I was looking at safestrap for running a custom rom on the AT&T Note 3, and someone mentioned in another thread that Flashfire was a better option for doing so, with no need for the multi-boot workaround. Thanks to anyone who can straighten me out on this, and if Flashfire doesn't allow for flashing a custom rom on the AT&T note 3, is there anything else out there that does?

Great Guide and find.
Flashfire has the power to bypass the security that would provent Odin from installing , for example a custom kernel, so be carefull with Flashfire, it installed a custom kernel on my phone and flagged Knox to a 1

Excellent. I don't like Safestrap, so this was perfect... I didn't have to wipe my phone, and everything went perfectly the first time. One note, I did have to put my phone in Download Mode (as stated in the OP) after the reboot from Flashfire. Thanks so much to all who worked on this!
Update: The OC2 update happened pretty much immediately after I booted. The OTA update actually managed to complete, and I still have root.

I am currently on 4.3 MI9 version..
i rooted it with chainfire method root de la vega.
Now can i flash NC2 with odin and continue the thing ?

Can someone point me to the stock lollipop tar? I cannot for the life of me find it in any of these forums. Please & thank you.

[Q] Booting 5.0 Alliance Rom

I tried to root my brother's S5 which was on 5.0 to begin with. Here is what I did:
Odined back to full stock 4.4.2 (NCIG or whatever), booted no problem. Then I rooted, busyboxed, installed safestrap, all worked. Booted into recovery, set up a rom slot, and flashed Alliance 5.0. Then I booted straight into download mode and flashed the OA8 Kernel and firmware via odin and booted the phone back up. It only got to the first boot screen and did the noise thing but didn't continue to the red verizon logo or anything further.
Did I miss a vital step or was I just too impatient waiting for it to boot (waited ~5min)? I figured 5 minutes would be long enough to pass the first boot screen. I put him back onto 4.4.2 rooted for the meantime but need help getting him back to 5.0.

Two problems I can think of. If you installed the rom to any slot other than stock I believe it won't boot properly. Also, Alliance is a deodexed rom which takes 15+ minutes on first boot, so you didn't wait anywhere near long enough.

2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play Here.
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
**Caution!** The following process is only for the G900V Verizon S5 variant. Use on any other device may result in a hardbrick!
***FlashFire v19 Recommended***
Download:
- G900V_OD5_Stock_Rooted_ROM
- G900V_OD5_Stock_Deodexed_ROM
Set your screen timeout to 10mins before beginning!
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.

The thing is, I don't need to update- I need to first root my phone. This update requires an already-rooted phone. Also, I don't need to update my phone.

:| Did I mention that I'm a noob too? I rooted a phone once before (Samsung Galaxy Mega GT-i9152) and it wasn't this complicated for me... and does this bypass Knox? Thanks for responding to me so fast though.

Problem: When you can't find the zip files on the internal, external sd or otg.
Symtoms

You can try using Google DNS first (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222) to see if they fix the Wi-Fi woes on your S7 or not.

Fix Odin Device Info Fail when Restoring (Credits to Original Poster)
Method 1
Open Odin, place all the necessary files into their slots.
Go the the options tab, make sure "Auto Reboot" IS ticked.
Press "start", but as soon as you do, hold down VolumeDown+Home+Power on your phone.
Odin will fail and your phone will reboot into download mode again.
Now press "Start" in Odin again, and your phone should flash without a problem.
This might take a few attempts to get right.
Method 2 (Another Variation)
Download the stock for your phone.
Boot into download mode by pressing ( power + volume down + home button) and stop at the screen of continue and reboot.
Press volume down to restart phone
Quickly boot back into download mode by pressing (power + volume down + home button)
Press continue
Install firmware with Odin
Wait for the firmware to be installed
Ready.

How I Rooted my G930W8
Don't skip any of the step.
First clean install the latest Nougat 7.0 G930W8VLU2BQH1 - Guide
Download the MagiskFilesRoot, unzip it in the sdcard, slide it inside your phone
Boot up S7 then setup the normal way
Enable Developer Options - System > About Phone > Build Number > Tap 7 Times, press back.
Select Developer Options then Turn on ADB Debugging & OEM Unlock
Disable the Samsung Factory Reset Protection if you have it enabled
Put phone in download mode
Download TWRP using this twrp-3.1.1-0-herolte.img.tar
Open Odin, uncheck AutoReboot, check AP point to the TWRP we just downloaded. Hit Start
Once its finished, do Recovery Combo (Power + VolumeUp + HomeButton)
It will reboot in TWRP Recovery, flash MagiskV14.zip, if you have problem seeing files wipe DATA and then reboot to recovery again using TWRP, select SDCARD as storage then flash MagiskV14.zip
Reboot the phone, wait 10-15 minutes then install MagiskManager.apk
Optional - Open Magisk Manager, select SuperUser then open Download. Install Busybox by 0sm0sis.
You are now running systemless root

Did you manage to root the G930W8 on nougat 7.0 build with this method? I've had nothing but problems attempting to root for the last few days. Tried cf-auto root and this magisk method early on in my attempts with no success. I've just fine a full clean build flash and restore and would really like to root but am worried I'm just going to get no where again and spend hours getting back to where I'm at now...

Yes. Refer to second post. I'm now running the latest nougat with magiskv14 systemless root. Its better that way, I can still use snapchat and banking applications.

Having trouble as well.
I get message "integrity check failed" after flashing magisk via twrp a step 11 then makes me reset the phone but because of the custom recovery it only bootloops.
Then i restart the whole process again only to stop at step 11.
Is there a step i'm missing?

Start all over again, but on step 11 follow this.
Try it this way:
When you boot up to TWRP, swipe allow modification. Flash MagiskV14.zip, then if it says install TWRP app, press "do not install".
If you have problem seeing files wipe DATA and then reboot to recovery again using TWRP, select SDCARD as storage then flash MagiskV14.zip

I tried it but i accidentally let the phone reboot after flashing twrp and it failed the integrity check and started bootlooping. I entered recovery and grabbed the log which i attached here.

So I did the steps again but used this steps from the other guide for exynos models
At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
By swiping right, you will trigger dm-verity, and if you don't follow the next step you will be unable to boot!
If you are going to root your device and follow the rest of these steps, then it is safe to swipe right and enable modifications.
If you want to use Systemless DevBase, then do not swipe. Keep it as read only.
Go to Wipe and click on format data. Type "yes" and it will format.
Now go back to home and click on "Reboot" then click on "Recovery" Option.
Then went from step 11 here and what you said to flash magisk and it worked.
My phone is finally debloated.

I tried your steps many times but everytime it's failing. Everytime it fails when installing "system". I've tried with different CSC version firmwares but it failed with each one of them. I', 100% sure that it is G930W8 S7 Flat because it was running on the same version of custom ROMs.

Same here... I tried it on two different stock roms with no luck.
I almost soft bricked my s7 which was working perfectly before applying the patch. It was giving me dm-verity error at boot...
I was able to flash it back and make it working using full stock rom.
I highly recommend readers to NOT apply the above Magisk Root on their G930W8 (S7).

sorry if this is in the wrong section i have galaxy s7 its on android 7.0 my power button is broken doesnt work at all i normally dont let my phone power down completley cause of it and it has ive tried rebooting the phone usin volume down and then plugging into computer and it just brings up the charge screen is there any other ways i can get this phone powered on even if i have to download something on my computer i will pleaqse help if possible

I just want to confirm this, since it's not explicitly mentioned in the post... When you root it trips KNOX, which locks you out from Disconnect Pro, Samsung Health, and Samsung Pay. Does this also mean that Android pay will not work either? Or does this method allow for Android pay to work?
If not, is there a workaround yet?

There are many reports on the XDA forums that Android Pay works with Magisk systemless root and with tripped Knox on S7 (as opposed to Samsung Pay which will not work once Knox is tripped).

Troubleshooting on Installing Magisk inside TWRP
Problem: When you can't find the zip files on the internal, external sd or otg.
Symtoms
sd card / otg / internalsd showing as 0 mb or mount error.
you can see folders but not files.
How to fix it
Follow the steps below. WARNING: Wiping DATA will delete your files on your internal storage (emulated sd)
Requirements: Copy Magiskv14 , MagiskManager ,AntirootRemoval inside External SDCARD. Insert in the phone.
Boot to TWRP Recovery (VOLUP+HOME+POWER)
Go to Wipe > Format Data
Press back key, then choose reboot > Recovery

I followed these directions exactly but when I boot into TWRP and attempt to install the Magisk.zip I recieve the following errors stating "could not mount /data partition" then causing the phone to bootloop until I flash the stock firmware again.
Why is this happening?

can you clarify(link to) what combination of steps you used to achieve a successful root? I havent attempted again since my last attempt but it sounds like you had some success. If you'd share it'd be really helpful and appreciated. Would really like to get root back on my phone

If its first time TWRP installation then you need to Format data (Caution: Format data will format the Phone internal storage and you need to backup files first if you have in phone storage like photos video and etc) After formatting data it Will allow to read and write the data partition). Further once you Flash TWRP then Super SU or Magist (Root) is compulsory to boot normal unless its bootloop

Any of you recommend holding off on the root till the Oreo update? Also, does rooting change the kernel to a different one? I wanna avoid battery/performance issues if I can by staying on the stock kernel.
