[Q] Installing Stock uk on USA phone - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I moved from the usa to the uk, I have a t-mobile sgs4 and having some signal issues, my friend who has the same phone is not having the same issues.
Basically want to install Three UK firmware onto a t-mobile usa phone.....
Is this possible, as i keep getting errors using odin
have stock t-mobile rom just now and wanting stock three uk rom on it

Not possible. Kies and Odin both compare the ROM to the device. If everything is ok, then the ROM will install, but otherwise you'll receive a failure notification. Your best option is to go with a custom ROM, as you're limited solely to T-Mobile stock ROMs and can't use anything else.

[Q] Flashing TMo Rom on AT&T

Hey guys,
I unlocked my galaxy s4 from AT&T and now I use T-Mobile. I was wondering if I could use the t-mobile rom since I would like to use the tethering and wifi calls from it.
I don't really want any custom rom, just because I'm fine with the carrier ones.. so I searched somethings and I figured out that I could use the t-mobile rom with loki doki.
Can I just instal the stock firmare of t-mobile? (It would be the M919UVUEMK2)
By the way, right now I'm running the MF3 and idk why I don't receive the OTA update (never received, I suspect that's because I unlocked it)
I found some other posts but unfortunately it doesn't contain enough information.

[Q] Should I flash UK open ROM

I've just bought a LG G2 32GB from eBay (Hong Kong version D802) and the question is to ensure that I get 4G using my network provider that is 3UK.
Should I flash a UK open ROM on the phone even though the listing states that the phone supports 800/1800 4G bands which I believe are the ones that 3UK use?
Having looked at the revert to stock ROM thread there's only a 16GB UK open ROM available can I still flash this ROM or would there be issues?
Or should I just stick to the Hong Kong ROM that ships with the phone?
Thanks in advance
Stick to the rom that comes with the phone. On a side note, if you flash a 16gb rom, you will get a 16gb phone and its very hard to restore

Thank you for the very useful response. That's scary that if you flash a 16gb ROM the phone turns into a 16gb phone I don't want to be doing that.
Same issue.
Hello,
i Am newbie here, recently i brought a LG G2 D802 supposedly from a EU store and i am in Finland, but to my surprise the software firmware is Asia made, Hong Kong to be particular. it goes like this, D80210b-HKG-XX build JDQ39B kernel 3.4.0. With this original Stock software, the 4G option is not shown( i know it can be done by hidden menu but i want to get a permanent fix); the MMS setting althought i did it manually by inserting the values provided by the Network service provider.Still i am unable to get that fix.
I am in turn to contacting my seller for the correct working OPEN stock rom installed G2 but if the case does not go like that then i wish to root it to the OPEN international ROM . From what i have read, if you update then it goes back to the HKG rom, if there any way i can remove the factory rom with the OPEN Rom and receive the update OTA and it will not revert back. I have been doing my research on this but i am not able to get the answers... Hope some one will shine some light on this.
Thanks in Advance !!!

[Q] Debrand Note 4 by flashing stock - what about radio?

Hi
I have a Three UK branded Note 4 and I'm currently using it on Vodafone. I'm looking at flashing the stock firmware for the UK to debrand the device. Does this process change the radios at all?
The reason I ask is because sometimes I'm seeing loss of mobile data that I can only resolve by toggling flight mode. I'm wondering by flashing stock or indeed Vodafone firmware would help this situation.
Thanks
If it's a newer firmware than the one currently on your device, then it will more than likely contain a newer modem firmware too.
Post back how you get on.
I have a Three Note (although also using Three network) was thinking of rooting/flashing to get rid of some Samsung bloat.
flashed my vodafone handset to BTU stock no problems and yes it does debrand the handset in the process. As for radio's just let it update if needs be better to have the correct radio for the rom version.
Did you find any benefits over the Vodafone branded version? Improved battery life for example?

Phone is using mobile data when it's turned off.

Greetings.
I just bought LG G2 (Imported from Germany) and it has EU rom and I live in Baltic countries, Lithuania in specific.
I turned off mobile data off and I get a message from time to time from my carrier that I don't have any money left in my sim card to continue browsing.
I'm running stock 4.4.2 out of the box.
Maybe I need to flash a stock rom specifically for Baltics?
Since I saw that were some stock firmware for Baltics on some stock LG firmware website.

Does your carrier have some form of accounting? You could login to see exactly where your credit is going..
You may also find an answer by calling your Carrier and getting technical support.
There is also data tracking applications in the playstore which track what is using your data.
Also you may want to change the thread title, made me think your phone was using communicating to mobile towers when it was completely powered off . And if that was happening, obviously it's some form of witchcraft.

Galaxy SM-A500M 4G does not work with new carrier

Hi all,
I own a SM-A500M phone. The phone has unlocked stock rom (original rom is not modified by carrier) and updated trough OTA to android 5.0.2. I know 4g does work in my phone because I could use it with my prior carrier, but I recently changed to CLARO and with this new provider I don't have 4g acces, only H+ and it is really slow and laggy connection.
I know the following:
1) Sim card is a compatible 4g nano sim
2) The carrier CLARO has 4g coverage where I live
3) The phone is not the problem
4) I have tried all the usual FAQS (APN's, select LTE in config, reboot) with no success.
5) The phone's variant is right (latinoamerican brand), so It can't be due to frequencies or bands problems.
I asked for help in CLARO and told me that this has happened amongst users with unlocked phones (that is, rom not modified with CLARO's bloatware), and the solution is to flash CLARO's rom. But the problem with this solution is that CLARO hasn't released android 5.0.2 update (and I think it will never update) and I really like android 5 and wouldn't want to return to 4.4.
So, is it true? Is there a chance to fix this problem with minor tweaks? What is the problem here?
Since I recently acquired this phone, I would prefer not lossing warranty, so rooting and custom roms might not be an option.
Thanks in advance. Kind regards!
You could try to flash their rom and check if it works. Then you can be 100% sure that hardware/chip/network provider are fine. I have the same phone on since last week, but still did not go to get the chip at a movistar office. Maybe you need to activate the chip and they refuse to do it unless you get their rom. Maybe just getting their rom, and then flashing back the updated stock one or a CM or whatev would be enough.
