[Q] G900F Question - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I've recently bought an Galaxy S5 G900F from Vodafone Germany, but now i live in Romania.
The phone is running stock with all the vodafone and samsung bloat.
My question is how to flash an international rom without any bloat, or maybe my current country rom?
Sorry for being noob but i am new to samsung, not android

Just use Odin and flash any unbranded firmware from Samsung Updates,SamMobile or links from Firmware thread here

so there's no need to unlock bootloader and so on? only download firmware and flash via odin? does this unbrand phone? i mean get rid of vodafone bloat?

Bloat comes with the ROM, if you flash a clean bloat free ROM, bloat is gone

Example, my phone also had bloatware by the carrier, but I flashed various firmware various countries unbranded and branded without problems
carriers bloat is gone
but Samsung bloat comes with all stock firmwares
I now even i'm with Malaysian firmware or (not remember now)
See Firmware thread in General section

Thanks for the info

I9500 Unbloated Europe firmware?

Hello guys i have download some firmwares from sammobile but all of them were bloated with some stupid apps. I don't want to root to remove those apps. Are there any unbloated open Europe or UK firmwares for S4 I9500?

Look through all of them and downloaded the one that's the smallest. I have the Pakistan firmware installed which is the same as any of the latest European firmwares and it just comes with one extra app that can be uninstalled the usual way.

no you can't
firmwares differ from country to country.
radio and modem firmware is different.
BTW if you are rooted delete/uninstall all the bloatware from your device simple.

[Q] Stock UK BTU or VIR

Hi guys quick one , in order to unbrand my galaxy S5 which ROM should i flash.
I remember stock roms being BTU but for the s5 I'm seeing info that says VIR roms might be stock UK
Whats the difference between the two which should i flash for stock unbranded UK.

BTU is stock unbranded.
VIR is stock with extra carrier bloatware included.
VIR is Virgin Mobile in the UK

[Q] Lollipop update on S5

Hi all, Im not sure if im posting in the right section, I am new to forumns, I have a samsung galaxy s5 G900F, I am in the UK but cannot get update for lollipop via samsung kies 3 or OTA. All it says is latest updates already installed. My samsung was bought in italy but was unlocked to all networks. My build number is KOT49H.G900FXXU1ANG9, is the reason it is not updating because its from Italy and that I have to wait for Italy to release their update?
Well, yea if your ROM is Italian then you need to wait for the Italian update
Or flash a UK ROM, in which case you might as well flash the stock Lollipop ROM from sammobile or here XDA
Yes, your rom is italian no carrier, in italy for now lolipop was released only for some carrier(Vodafone and H3g)
Thanks for your reply, I am searching for the UK ROM and found BTU - is BTU for no carrier? also do I need to Root my phone to install the ROM?

Latest Nougat Firmware - Manual Install (Odin)

Hello folks,
I would like to update my S7 Edge (SM-G935F) to the latest Nougat firmware which if I'm not mistaken arrived UK BTU, which is:
PDA - G935FXXU1DQB3
CSC - G935FOXA1DQB1
I would like to install it via Odin, the most stock way possible (don't want root or custom recovery), just because that I'm tired that it haven't arrived OTA in my country (PT).
But I have a few questions regarding this manually update to the latest firmware of another country:
1) Manually installing the latest update from BTU UK will stop me from receiving future OTA updates? and if no, will I be receiving the OTA updates in the future from UK or PT??
2) My device with the currently firmware has no bloatware from any network (was bought unlocked), if I upgrade to the latest firmware from BTU UK, will I still have no bloatware? (or bloat will be installed?)
3) Will I have any problem from installing a firmware from other country (being both for the same model: SM-G935F)?
Thank you very much in advance! :good:
I have everything ready to make the manual flash, just want to clear this things out before I do it.
Thanks

Each country or region has it's own CSC which can be easily flashed
by itself without the need to odin flash a different country's full firmware.
The only time you need to think about bloatware is if you flash a specific
carrier's firmware like perhaps vodaphone and most other carriers add
their own bloatwares. But if you only flash the regional firmware for your
country or region like BTU UK you will not end up with bloatware.
Good luck and happy flashing!

Future OTA's will not be a problem if you have flashed
the proper CSC for your country before trying to update
future firmwares.

So you are saying that first I should change my CSC to the UK, then flash the latest firmware via Odin and won't have to worry about future updates? Can't I simply flash the latest UK BTU firmware and it will change the CSC and get me the latest firmware in once?
