Latest Nougat Firmware - Manual Install (Odin) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello folks,
I would like to update my S7 Edge (SM-G935F) to the latest Nougat firmware which if I'm not mistaken arrived UK BTU, which is:
PDA - G935FXXU1DQB3
CSC - G935FOXA1DQB1
I would like to install it via Odin, the most stock way possible (don't want root or custom recovery), just because that I'm tired that it haven't arrived OTA in my country (PT).
But I have a few questions regarding this manually update to the latest firmware of another country:
1) Manually installing the latest update from BTU UK will stop me from receiving future OTA updates? and if no, will I be receiving the OTA updates in the future from UK or PT??
2) My device with the currently firmware has no bloatware from any network (was bought unlocked), if I upgrade to the latest firmware from BTU UK, will I still have no bloatware? (or bloat will be installed?)
3) Will I have any problem from installing a firmware from other country (being both for the same model: SM-G935F)?
Thank you very much in advance! :good:

I have everything ready to make the manual flash, just want to clear this things out before I do it.
Thanks

Each country or region has it's own CSC which can be easily flashed
by itself without the need to odin flash a different country's full firmware.
The only time you need to think about bloatware is if you flash a specific
carrier's firmware like perhaps vodaphone and most other carriers add
their own bloatwares. But if you only flash the regional firmware for your
country or region like BTU UK you will not end up with bloatware.
Good luck and happy flashing!

Future OTA's will not be a problem if you have flashed
the proper CSC for your country before trying to update
future firmwares.

So you are saying that first I should change my CSC to the UK, then flash the latest firmware via Odin and won't have to worry about future updates? Can't I simply flash the latest UK BTU firmware and it will change the CSC and get me the latest firmware in once?

Help ALB CSC

I have galaxy s4 i9505 and after region changing my csc is ALB, i can't get updates. What can i do? It is multi-csc... Region SEB, but CSC ALB.
So I will not get updates?
Hi
I had the same problem, I don't know why it happens.
I also have GT-I9505 and at first I had mismatch of PDA and CSC, my PDA was ME2 and CSC was BTU so Kies told me it doesn't support my firmware and thus I couldn't get updates. That was on android 4.2.2.
Then I installed the DBT (android 4.3) stock rom of Germany but when I entered Kies the CSC was still BTU and didn't change even after a factory reset so again I couldn't get updates, not via Kies nor OTA. Afterwards, I installed at last the BTU stock rom and everything was OK.
The Kies no longer told me that my firmware is unsupported and I received the MK8 update a week ago and gonna receive the new update which was released yesterday in a few days. Moreover, I forgot to mention that the Knox flag wasn't tripped after installing the BTU rom.
My suggestion is you install the rom which matches the CSC of your device because the CSC doesn't change after installing a stock rom so you have to adapt yourself to the CSC.

You can try flashing (via Odin) the new update which was released two days ago (MKE).
It was released for Germany and France for now but soon will be rolling to everyone.
I'm almost sure it won't trip the Knox flag if you do everything right.

Yeah that's an option also.
Also, did you try factory reset after the installation? If not, do it. It sometimes helps, in my case it didn't help to change the CSC to DBT when I installed the German rom.
I hope Kitkat will arrive soon to our devices. I can't wait to see the improvements and how did they change the TW.

Galaxy s7 edge stock firmware from sammobile - a few questions.

Hi,
I bought my S7 edge form Portugal, the phone is factory unlocked.
Now I'm back in my country and I thought I should download from sammobile the official firmware of my carrier provider or the global version.
I'm not sure if I'll still receive OTA updates if I flash the firmware with ODIN, and if that's the case, please tell me if there's any other methods to flash the baseband without causing updates issues in the future.
I want to update the fw because Volte doesn't work.
Another question, I don't have a PC, so I was wandering if I can install Odin on Mac or in VmWare?

My S4 wont update pls help

I had s4(4.4.2) rooted now I have completely removed the root by flashing stock firmware which I got from this post. I downloaded the turkey 4.4.2 listed under GT-I9500 firmwares although I am in india. Now when I try to update trough settings > software update, I I get msg "The latest updates have already been installed.". So is it happening because I flashed turkey's firmware, pls help me how to get lollipop update.
Flash India (INU) or India (INS) firmware. Either should work, but using the INS CSC is probably best, as that apparently is for unlocked devices. The reason you're not getting an update is the phone is not in the same region as the firmware installed on it.
Stock firmware for the gt-i9500 is here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9500/INS/
@audit13: Already covered that.
My bad, I didn't click on the links

Keeping OTA updates after STOCK ROM update via ODIN

Hi all, I've had a look and can't seem to find anything on the forums, but if you can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated!
I've been flashing for years but never really been in this situation, as this is the first phone I've not rooted.
So here it is:
I've a completely stock, never-rooted S7 Edge on the XEU CSC.
I'm not getting the latest update and I'd like to have it, I'm stuck on Beta 5 (I was a part of the Beta Program).
I'd like to flash the latest availiable 7.0 firmware in ODIN.
My question is:
Would I still get OTA updates AFTER I've flashed the firmware in ODIN considering my phone is COMPLETELY STOCK and has NEVER been rooted?
Thank you very much!
P.S Sorry again if I've missed something in the forums, I tried searching and couldn't find an answer.
Thank you!
Stock roms get OTA updates. Only rooting breaks that.
Yes you would continue to get OTA when flashing update via Odin.

You will get OTA updates on the XEU timeline. Your CSC is XEU and it will stay XEU if you flash Official Nougat. Hence, if BTU then get updated in the future, you will have to wait until it is released for XEU

So as long as I update to an XEU firmware I'd still get the updates? But not if I update to a BTU one?
Just clarifying.

Hello,
I have a brand new S7 Edge, non-rooted. I would like to have the official Nougat, but the update by OTA ist still not available for my device. I would try it with Odin, but where can I get the official firmware (german, non-branding device (DBT?))?
Thanks for your help

So you must wait until it´s released.......or you can flash via odin the BTU(OXA) Nougat or the (german)Vodafone VD2.(if you flash the BTU(OXA_MultiCSC), you will get the active DBT CSC)(but flash the normal CSC not Home_CSC)

When you flash official Nougat, you are flashing OXA CSC. This CSC is a "multi" CSC which contains multiple CSC. This OXA CSC actually contains BTU, XEU, NEE, DBT and a few more.
If you flash a multi CSC and you are already on one of the contained CSC (So in your case, you are on XEU CSC and flashing a "multi" CSC that also contains XEU) then your CSC will not change, your phone will see that you are coming from XEU CSC and so it will pick that CSC when you flash the multi CSC.
You won't actually have BTU CSC, which means you will only receive updates when XEU CSC receives them. BTU normally receives updates before XEU so most people like to change to BTU. It isn't a must though.
So to clarify, if you flash official Nougat, you will get OTA updates when XEU CSC users receive it. If you want to CHANGE your CSC to BTU then that involves multiple flashes.

Hey,
My phone was on the XEU csc code and not getting the nougat update either. I am not rooted either. I wanted to update to nougat. So I went to sammobile and downloaded the BTU firmware. I downloaded the newest lollipop version so as to make it update to nougat ota. When flashing I read some where that to keep ota functionality not to flash csc home in odin but just the normal csc file that is inter zip folder along with the other files. Once flashed and phone had been setup, I went to settings and about phone and checked for updates, my phone then proceeded to update to nougat sucesfully.

I've applied the late January 2017 BTU update via Odin and used the regular CSC file (not home CSC) which wiped everything out and all is working well - but I would have expected the latest BTU update to have been applied OTA and it hasn't shown as available. My CSC is still showing up as XEU on the phone too which I guess is the cause for this? Did I do something wrong when applying the BTU update?

S20 flash no brand (ITV) stock firmware with ODIN over Vodafone Italy CSC

Hello everybody, next week I will receive my new S20 (SM-G980F), but this time I accepted an offer from my carrier (Vodafone Italy) and I will get a OMN CSC variant instead of a ITV CSC generic.
I see that Vodafone time to release the updates is very slow, so I ask:
1) If I flash via ODIN the ITV firmware (2020-06-02 PDA G980FXXS2ATE7 CSC G980FOXM2ATE6 ) over the Vodafone one (2020-05-22 PDA G980FXXU2ATE6 CSC G980FOXM2ATE6), for what I understood, the CSC doesn't change, but will I have the firmware update (I mean 1 June patch with Vodafone branding stuff)?
2) If so, are the OTA updates broken or will I get ITV OTA updates? Or worst case, will I receive OMN OTA update over ITV Firmware causing issues?
3) If OTA are broken, can I manually update the new future ITV firmwares manually preserving data (like OTA) from my PC using ODIN?
My concern is not regarding about money (I can buy some samkeys if necessary), but regarding preserving the warranty and Knox (I'm using app inside secure folder and other app that check if bootloader/root is modified) because the CSC is always the same...
Thank you very much

If done correctly changing csc won't trigger knox. Your warranty will be fine.
Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
You can flash ITV firmwares each time manually if you want, but you won't get OTA until you match your active CSC with firmware CSC using Samkey, neither method trips knox
Thank you very much.
So is it possible to have the latest security and enhancement patches manually with ODIN, without losing data and warranty also if Vodafone does not rollup the OTA?
My phone remains branded, but with last firmware like a no brand one and a working Samsung PAY/Secure Folders ?

Yep, just make sure when you flash with Odin you use HOME_CSC and not just CSC along with the other sections of the firmware
HOME_CSC = No reset & keep data
CSC = Factory reset and lose data
Everything else should work fine too, just no OTA unless you use Samkey
Last question:
In case of repair and I must to give the phone on service, can I flash the original Vodafone Firmware with right CSC, making a factory reset, also if the last available firmware is a version older than actually installed?
For example: Now Vodafone Italy (OMN) mounts G980FXXU2ATE6 (rolled out at May), but I will flash G980FXXS2ATE7 (full ITV firmware with June security patch, but never - till now - rolled out by Vodafone via OTA)

Yes as long as the bootloader version is not lower than the current installed firmware
G980FXXS2ATE7 < Version 2
G980FXXU2ATE6 < Version 2
If the firmware is older but has an equal or higher BL version then use CSC to reset after the flash

I've done this thing for my S20+ with HUI (H3G Italy now Windtre).
I've tried all the possible methods to change CSC, there is no way out due to the fact the model forces the specific CSC.
If you want to change CSC, no need to reset your phone or flash weird stuff from Odin. Just get SamKey. I was skeptical, but it did the job in a second, without tripping Knox or needing root. Just don't buy the credits on their website (btw, is the .org one), they're expensive!. Go to eBay, plenty of sellers sell credits (you need the code reader version)
For me, it cost 1 Credit, so a 3 credit pack (around 5€) is sufficient.
Then just follow the procedure. You will need to eject the sim card prior and to disable screen lock while you're doing it, but other than that I can confirm it switches your phone permanently to ITV CSC and you get OTAs.
Wish you luck!
