[How-To] BLU Studio 5.0 C (D536U) – Rooting, Recovery Install, Flash Latest Stock Rom - Blu Studio 5

Hello everyone on the XDA community.
This is my first post here ..!
To begin excuse my very bad English, I used a translator to do this. Second, moderators apologies if it is not the right place, I ask a little patience and if you need to edit or move the topic, are in every right to do so.
Thanks in advance.
WARNING: This method has been tested by me, but do not hold me responsible for lost data on their devices or if they suffer irreparable damage. The method should be used with caution, following the steps explained below and must possess knowledge of the use of the tools used. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Tools to be used:
BLU Phone Drivers
Universal ADB Drivers
SP Flash Tools v5.1436.00.000
Studio C D536U V08 5.0 Generic Stock Rom
Kingo Root
Easy Magic TWRP Installer for MediaTek
The first step and most important is: BACKUP, support all device data if possible make a backup of the complete ROM Stock, since in case of a "sudden death" can use this to revive the device. In the XDA Developers forums are methods to do this kind of support.
Steps that I have followed for an update ROM Stock, rooting and subsequent installation of custom recovery:
If you have any drivers installed for your BLU device uninstall them before seeing step 2.
Install the device driver for BLU
ADB drivers installed Universal
Enable USB debugging on development options
Download and install the ROM Stock mentioned above using the following::
Open SP Flash Tool.
Click scatter-loading then select the scatter file inside the ROM you downloaded (must be unzipped of course).
Change "Download" to "Firmware upgrade" (under scatter-loading file).
Click in "Download" button.
Take battery out of your phone and insert it again. make sure your phone does not turn on (If phone has an internal battery then just make sure the phone is off).
Plug in your phone to your PC.
The green check mark means you're good to go.
After installing the new ROM Stock, or if you were already using that version of the ROM Stock must install the Kingo Root, then connect your device and the program will recognize it immediately. The whole process is very simple and takes very little time, stay tuned to the screen of your device for confirmations.
Already having installed and running ROM Stock and rooting and undamaged device, run the program TWRP Setup, this will create the MTK-TWRP folder on your desktop, in it we find the TWRP.exe program which execute and follow the steps described in THIS POST.
And with that we have our rooting device with a new version of ROM Stock and custom recovery.
FINAL NOTE: In my case after installing the new version of ROM Stock did a search for update from the device, and found a new version: BLU_D536U_V10_GENERIC. The downloaded and installed before proceeding with the routing and the installation of custom recovery.
I hope you can use this guide and is very useful for everyone.
Best regards.

Hi.
The following directory on the website of Mega contains all the Stock ROM for BLU devices, look inside the folder named "STUDIO SERIES" the "STUDIO 5 C - D536" folder, there you can download the ROM Stock V8 Generic.

I have a bricked BLU Studio 5.0 C D536L. Can I flash this rom and files?
I don't know if D536U and D536L are the same devices (maybe L and U only a local id).

I just got this phone from Walmart, even though I didn't use your method to root, as my rom is newer than the rom you provide, mine rom is BLU_D536U_V11_GENERIC seemed pointless to downgrade, I did download your Studio C D536U V08 5.0 Generic Stock Rom as it contained a file I needed to manually root my device.
I use Linux not windows, so the splash tool doesn't help, none the less I was able to root without any problems, using the one file from Studio C D536U V08 5.0 Generic Stock Rom.
Thanks
Vampirefo

Need a pointer or two.

Hello. I have the same phone and conundrum. Sure would appreciate any pointers you could throw my way about successfully rooting this critter. It's a BLU Studio 5.0 Ce D536 Unlocked Dual SIM 5.0 Phone Android KitKat CellPhone.
There was a sale on ebay selling this new for 68.00 so I bit the bullet and bought it. Sure would appreciate it. I use both Linux and windows so I can relate. Any pointers would be great,Thanks!

Post 3 seems to have files for your phone, should be able to use those files to root your device.
I had to build a custom recovery for my device, I built Carliv 3.3 recovery and TWRP 2.6.8.0 for my device.

Brick/Loop in Recovery.
Hey alakentu, thanks for this great thread. I have a problem at the moment: My, Studio BLU Studio 5.0 C (D536U), boots into the recovery and that is all. If I select Factory Mode it gets stuck on the BLU boot animation. I need to flash a new ROM through the original recovery and I need help with this. Can somebody help me ?

I'll give it a try
I have a 5.0C that has one SIM disabled. The SIM was filled with a platic blank that was glued down. I plan on backing up the custom Digicel ROM (D526 I think) and try to load the D536U stock ROM. I assume that if the hardware isn't customized, the stock ROM will have the code that enables and controls the two SIMS. :fingers-crossed:

I rooted and updated my previously locked phone to the V11 generic ROM. The generic ROM:
1. enabled the SIM that was blocked from the OEM.
2. unlocked both SIM slots.
The upgrade was well worth the trouble that I had with properly loading the USB drivers on my Windows 8 PC.

Same exact quandary here as @blackvitriol. My d536u (Studio 5.0 C) sticks at the Blu splash screen. Is there an RUU mode of sorts with this device? If so, how do I access it without being able to fully boot this device?

SOLVED!! (Not that this is an active thread or anything)
So, in ALL of my research I didn't find one single instruction to fix the bootloop, corrupted ROM issue I had. Many claimed to be able to fix this issue, but all fell short because of ONE SINGLE error in the command line. I know, that's all it takes, BUT it may be difficult to figure out (as it was for me). This is all assuming you have your drivers installed and at the very least Minimal ADB/Fastboot functioning.
1. download the factory image (zip, rar, whatever) and UNPACK it somewhere you can easily find in Windows.
2. place the boot.img and system.img files in the same folder as adb.exe and fastboot.exe
3. put your device in Fastboot by doing the following:
a. press and hold Vol Up AND Power until you see the LCD flicker dark (you'll know it when it happens about 3 seconds into holding. Nothing else will happen yet. Nothing will appear on your LCD.)
b. press Vol Up twice and then Vol Down
*you should see three lines pop up in white text on your screen and it should show Fastboot beneath that. If not, pop that battery out and start over. It may take practice to get it right.
4. open a command window in your adb/fastboot folder.
5. Type the following:
fastboot devices
(your device should show up after you hit enter)<---don't type this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(you should get some action on your device showing it flashed OK as well as in your command window)<---or this
fastboot flash /system system.img
(you should see it working on your device's LCD counting up from 0% to 100%)<---or this
fastboot reboot
(now wait and watch your device come back to life)<---or this
So what's different here from the other instructions out there? You're flashing the system partition by typing "/system system.img" instead of "system system.img"
Any questions, feel free to ask. Have a good one and good luck.
If I've helped you in any way and you want to help support my kids' college fund, please consider buying me a cup of coffee.

[GUIDE 25/02/2012]UK ONLY /Orange/ T-mobile – ROOTING, UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER

I have updated this guide as I have a new replacement from t-mobile. This guide was based on my previous atrix which was running froyo (2.2.2) This time I have applied OTA 45.21.2.Mb860.T-mobile.en.gb and everything works perfect so if you have updated your phone to 2.3.4 then you can use this guide as well
I have decided to create this thread as I have seen many people confused about the difference between At&t phones and their UK ones. This thread will help you make the decision whether you want to hack your phone or not. I own T-mobile UK Atrix and whatever I have done worked perfectly for me. I’m not responsible for any bricks. You doing this on your own risk – good news is that no one (UK) had their mobile bricked. ALL CREDITS GOES TO DEVELOPERS AND OTHERS THAT CREATED SIMILAR THREATS – THANKS
ROOTING – If you running froyo (2.2.2) I have used gingerbreak method which is very easy:
Code:
1. Download Gingerbreak.exe from here: [url]http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&drKey=1359&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D1046626&v=1&libid=1311795059566&out=http%3A%2F%2Fbandbinnovations.com%2Fxda%2FGingerBreak.exe&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fforumdisplay.php%3Ff%3D997%26order%3Ddesc%26page%3D4&title=%5BHOWTO%5D%20Easy%20Root%201.5.7%20%26%201.83%20using%20GingerBreak%20-%20xda-developers&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fbandbinnovations.com%2Fxda%2FGingerBreak.exe[/url]
2. Make sure you have got debugging mode ON(settingsApplications Development) and you have installed drivers for your atrix
3. Run Gingerbreak.exe on your pc
4. In your phone you will find new app called gingerbreak – run it and select root. Mobile will reboot itself once is done.
5. Congratulation you are rooted.
NOTICE: You need to have External SD Card and also be aware that rooting this way will format your internal storage.
ROOTING – If you running gingerbread (2.3.4) use superoneclick (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) and fallow the instructions on the original thread. Very easy way.
If you want to try ANY Custom ROM you need to Unlock your Bootloader:
Code:
1. You need to download and install RDS lite on your PC: [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=634879&d=1308872277[/url]
2. Download and extract IHOP_Bell.rar: [url]http://diamantephoto.com/IHOP_Bell.rar[/url]
3. Download and extract Fastboot tools [url]http://gititbit.ch/FAST[/url]
4. Power down your Motorola Atrix
5. Take out your microSD card and SIM card for the flashing process
6. While turning the phone on, hold the Volume Up button until it acknowledges RSD
7. Your device will say “Starting RSD protocol support”
8. Run “RSD Lite” on your computer
9. Press the “. . .” button next to the box labeled “Filename”
10. Load up the SBF file – IHOP_Bell.sbf
11. Plug your device into your computer
12. RSD Lite should recognize your device and say “Model: NS Flash Olympus” and “Connected…”
13. Press the “Start” button
14. Be patient while the phone reboots. It will take a long time.
15. Open and extract the Fastboot package from above
16. Open a command prompt window
a. On Windows, press Start and type “cmd” then press the enter button
17. Type the following command. Your directory will be the folder where you extracted the Fastboot package.
(Example: cd C:\Users\Kenneth\Desktop\fastboot-package)
a. cd your directory here
18. Power down your Atrix device
19. Hold the power button and the downward volume button until you see “Fastboot”
20. Let go of the buttons and press the upward volume button once
21. You will now see “Starting Fastboot protocol support”
22. Plug your device into a USB port in the back slot of your computer
a. Front slots sometimes do not have enough power to stay connected to the device.
23. Type the following command:
a. fastboot oem unlock
24. You will now receive a warning along with a unique device ID
25. Type the following commands using your unique device ID in place of the ####:
a. fastboot oem unlock ####
b. fastboot reboot
26. Wait for your device to reboot. Congratulations! You now have an unlocked bootloader!
I recommend to install romracer's Recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500.
Instalation:
Code:
$ fastboot devices
TA20700KXH fastboot
$ fastboot erase recovery
erasing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.741s]
$ fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (4780 KB)... OKAY [ 0.490s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.544s]
The reason I recommend this recovery is because the official clockwork recovery doesn't support external sdcard (bug?). If this doesn't bother you then you can download Rom manager from market and install official recovery.
Most of the roms have unified kernel which means you don't need to apply anything after installation. This includes roms like aura, the dark side, cyanogen mod.
However if you do have issues with memory then download kernel from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040
Thanks for this - thats my night sorted

Hi there,
sorry, a quick question regards to the custom ROMS, you mentioned if I am going to apply the AT&T ROMs, I need to apply custom kernels,
Foka002 said:
You can now install ANY Custom ROM. However if you want to install ROM That is designed for AT&T you will have to apply FIXED Kernel for international (faux’s or eveal kernels working excellent for our devices - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156040)

but in eval-'s thread, he mentioned:
I suspect these boot.img will 'fix' RAM for unlocked internationals on any Gingerbread 2.3.x build (only), but this as faux123 helpfully points out, your modules must match (important for wifi, vpn) ! So for now, these boot.img with quick & dirty RAM fix are only for this Orange FR 2.3.4 system.img!! (Unless you want to copy around dhd.ko and parts of /system/lib/hw between /systems...)

So can I just apply his kernel on the AT&T firmware?
Cheers,
Well I tried eval kernel few times and long time ago. For every rom I had it I used faux kernel so it's safer to use it with recent roms.

Hi thanks for the time and effort but I was hoping someone could help me.Trying to follow the guide but having trouble with two parts.Firstly when running pudding through rsd how long exactly do you leave it?It says to leave it at android lockscreen but rsd dhows as not finished like 38% rebooting at this time/Also when to connect or disconnect is confusing as I read a guide previously to yours am not sure if phone gets disconnected after rsd?Lastly and I think my most serious problem is that I cant get the fastboot command to work.It will either say unable to find the path specified or no command on internal or external etc.Any ideas? Thanks
Great guide! Thanks for putting this together.
So correct me if im wrong but I can follow this guide, and put on gingerbread on my orange ATRIX and it will work fine?!?!?!?
Also once the official update hits UK can I just install that?
Great work btw

In order to use fastboot you need to have motorola drivers installed. Im not sure about eds but if your device is recognised then it is fine. Im not sure about waiting time in rsd but if you did fallow this guide step by step you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes you will be able to flash gingerbread but you won't be able to use official OTA unless you downgrade to 2.2.2 using fruitcake method. The thing is if you want to play with custom roms then there is no point in waiting for official release because its not going to be any better than any rom we've got now. Just keep in mind once you unlock your bootloader you will lose warranty.
Uk OTA is coming for sure but I have no idea when. Rumours says in sep/oct

Never seen that menu, but never tried to boot just after ihop either though, as has no rom as party of it, check out size of the file, and size of a normal sbf.

I think this is soft brick...Is this UK atrix ??
Noob questions
Do I need to root before I flash this ROM? Because I don't have an SD card I'm a bit confused if I can do this or not. Once flashed to Orange France 2.3.4, if the OTA comes through what should I do? Accept? Decline? I'm very doubtful that Motocrap will update us to ICS, so can we update to ICS manually if I flash right now? Finally, if I do Brick, what can I do? I don't have insurance. Can I backup to a PC? I want something that no matter what happens I can restore to. Thanks for the answers ( if I get any )

[How-To] Install CWM Recovery and ROOT BLU 5.0 C HD (And Other Blu C Devices)

(First of all, although I have been reading XDA forums for years, this is my very first post. So, I apologize in advance for any mistakes.)
FULL DISCLAIMER: This ROOT method isn't for novice users. You will want to be familiar with things like ADB, custom recoveries, and phone system partitions before beginning. Also, do all of the following AT YOUR OWN RISK. It's not my fault that you turned your brand new phone into a beautifully colored brick.
If you've found this post, then you are like me. You just got this great new Blu Color phone, and you want to root it. But, all you can find online are posts about failed attempts to root it. Well, thanks to a guide I found online, we can all now have ROOT. Hooray!! Using the guide, I was able to get both a fully functioning CWM and an easy ROOT. To find the guide, just Google "100% Working ROOT + CWM - Readback your ROM with SP-Flash Tools," and click the first link. This method should (in theory) work for all of the "Blu C" (aka Blu Color) Android 4.4.2 phone variants. But, I can only VERIFY that it works for the Blu 5.0 C HD.
That's really all I have to say. Just follow that guide in order to get CWM installed, and then flash a SuperSU zip from recovery to achieve ROOT. I will say that watching the YouTube video is probably more helpful than reading the guide, just FYI. The ROOT sticks for me even after reboot. I've included some screenshots to "prove" that I have achieved ROOT on this device.
However, if any of you are brave enough to use them, I will give you the custom recovery file and scatter.txt file which I created. These files should save you some time and effort, by allowing you to skip forward to the last two steps (i.e. installing recovery and flashing the SuperSU zip). I've attached these two files to this post.
Quick note: In order to access the "download mode" needed for the SP Flash Tool, you need to remove the device's battery, then connect the device to your computer while HOLDING the Vol+ button. Once you have CWM Recovery installed, you can boot into recovery mode by either pressing Vol+ AND Vol- AND Power while the phone is off, then pressing Vol+ again. OR, you can enter recovery mode using the ADB command "adb reboot recovery".
ONLY use the files attached to this post IF you have a Blu 5.0 C HD. You will likely BRICK your device if you have ANY OTHER phone. Even the Blu 5.0 C Mini is probably too different.
Someone in the Google+ "Blu Development" community asked me a really good question, and I just wanted to post the reply here as well.
QUESTION: I tried this, but I never got the "read back" to work. How do you do it?
ANSWER: In order to get "read back" to work, you need to:
1. Unplug your phone and remove battery
2. Open up Windows device manager
3. Plug in your phone while holding the Vol+ button with battery still removed
4. Click on the new device which appears in the device manager (named "MediaTek Preloader," or something similar). Right click properties and then update the driver... Manually install the driver provided in the guide I referenced. Also, the video on the guide has a good walk through for this step, at around time 5:50. You need to be quick for this step, because the new device only appears in the device manager for a few seconds after the phone is plugged in.
5. Remove device again, start up SP Flash Tool, and get everything set up.
6. Click the "read back" button THEN reconnect phone to computer while holding Vol+ with battery removed. The read back process should start. It took my phone 22 minutes on my kinda slow laptop.
Hope this helps someone!

Reasonz20,
I'd love to post the link. But, I XDA doesn't allow me (as a "new" member) to post links yet. But, the YouTube video is embedded in the guide I provided, which you can find by searching for "100% Working ROOT + CWM - Readback your ROM with SP-Flash Tools," in Google.
And, for posterity's sake, you can find the YouTube video directly by searching in Google for "How to Root every MTK China Phone - Readback With SP-Flash - Root + CWM on INEW V8 [HD]," and clicking the first link.
Hope this helps!

Well, yes. But going into the specifics it perhaps beyond me. But I did install CWM in a kindle fire once through linux, because the driver wasn't working in Windows for me. However... For you... The easiest solution may be to download an illegal copy of Windows and run it in a Linux virtual box. Maybe? Or research how to do it in Linux. Sorry that I'm not more help.

Hi everyone, well i recently purchased a BLU Studio 5.0 C (not HD) so can i install the recovery from the 5.0 HD in my phone? i don't want to brick my phone
Thanks in advance for any answer =)
The process should be the same, regardless of the model, for any of the phone with MTK chipsets.
That said, this SHOULD work. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly, and take your time. If you follow all the steps, and something goes wrong, the backup you do at the beginning can bail you out.
Use rom manager. Download it from play store and select your device and flash CWM custom recovery.
Not for my Blu Stdio 5.0
I few day ago i ask if i can used this recovery for my BLU Studio 5.0 (not HD) and apparently couple of people say yes... well, my phone is brick... i took it to where i buy it cus it have warranty and i told them that is just stop working lol, they give me a new one with no question about it. Awesome!
So don't use it in your blu if is not BLU Studio 5.0 HD.
Guys can someone please provide stock ROM for studio 5c hd

[Q] Droid Razr M not fully booting: Help Please

Hello,
Problem:
factory reset my Droid RAZR M with the hope to resolve in-call audio problems (very low ear piece volume at full). When I rebooted the phone the Welcome screen appeared asking for a language choice. Chose english US. The Message: "Please wait, This may take a few minutes" appeared with a spinning icon. But nothing else ever happens. The phone never moves beyond this selection.
I have android-sdk (Linux setup) installed on my computer in order to use the suite of tools like fastboot and adb. The tools work, in that I can see the phone, pull data, upload to the phone and even get a command shell on the phone. However in order for adb to recognize the phone I have to put the phone in "BT Tools" mode. In "AP fastboot" mode fastboot sees the phone. As far as I remember USB debugging was turned on.
I do not have a recovery image installed.
The phone has Kitkat 4.4.2 ver 183.46.10 and is rooted with TowelRoot. I just unlocked the bootloader today via motoapocalypse package. Status of the phone is unlocked Code 3
I also removed some unused apps - like NFL and a few other space and bandwidth consuming apps that I will never use.
I'd like to get this phone to work again. Is there any hope?
Please advise and thanks for reading.
You can flash custom recovery via fastboot and then custom ROM or flash stock ROM via RSD. Guide is in first thread in general section.

[GUIDE][FAQ][DIY][KK] How to Root, Boot Unlock & More
Thanks for the pointer. I gather that RSD is a Windows based app. At the present time I do not have a Windows computer. So I took a shot at the job using fastboot, adb and all as found in the android-sdk. Did the steps as described in the flashing post. Now all I ever see is the "Bootloader unlocked warning message" and the phone never progresses beyond the warning. I disassembled the phone, to disconnect the battery -- hoping for a reset miracle. No change after reassembly. Given the latest state of the phone as described above, is there any chance of reviving this phone now that it's stuck at the bootloader warning?
(I read a post about a Motorola Factory Cable -- and if I understand the factory cable puts the phone in a special mode for flashing looking into this option).
I am out to learn and am not afraid of poking around -- so at this point I have no more to lose.
Would the Windows computer make the difference? Using linux mint atm.

You can try using SBF_FLASH or mFastboot-v2 (which has a linux version) to flash the system.img .
SOLVED: [Q] Droid Razr M not fully booting: Help Please
That worked. Thanks! So the difference between the SDK fastboot and the one in the link provided (mfastboot-V2): the linux-fastboot seems to be smarter about uploading the larger image files to the flashable device (guessing). I am sure I did "flashboot flash system system.img" with the flashboot util from the SDK.
@ATTACK do you have the source for that version of fastboot or patches? Would like to have a look.
Thanks again! Got an unlocked rooted working Droid RAZR M!

Your guess is correct, mfastboot allows you to flash larger system.img's that wont otherwise flash in fastboot.
As for sources... I have no idea who created mfastboot or where it came from. It's just one of those things that get's passed around the internet.

Well I'm happy to have the utility that works. Can thank you enough -- or the creators. Found it also on goggle code after a properly crafted search string. All this for an in-call audio problem that only worsened after I took the phone apart. Still works on speaker mode though so that's good enough -- at low volume. And I learned a few things. One interesting thing: The shell prompt got rewritten to say ${USER}@scorpion_mini/ after flashing the system.img. Pretty sure it only said android prior to re-flashing . And the getprop helper app is a new thing for me.
Feel like a kid all over again exploring this little device.

will a nandroid backup do for you? If so i can definitely help you out
i was looking for a link or two
I recently just got back into carrier devices an havent bothered with moddin devices in about two years i own two nexus devices an have sideloaded them for years with corporate emails an only have gone as far as tweakin boot images an on my older droids flashing custom mods daily... My only question remains with these newer junky devices how does one gain su if needed safely for things like otg access. It seems to me almost every carrier device is worth rooting an modding nowadays, an nexus devices are still the only ones that have a program thats stable an universal for all manufactuers as far as updating an management of a os whether it be stock or the user decides to go third party.
With that said.. Thats why awhile ago i stopped modding phones, using a windows tablet (for a full version of msdos) an since i had mastered my PB9110 version of my nexus one, i would flash my images via adb and sideload images with command line, in time ive sampled nexus after nexus, never using (play) an now back to a carrier device with no program support except 3rd party mods... Which in reality is great once you do have a nandroid backup an a stock rom... Thus the ability with the nexus factory image. Where are the steps and how tos my friends????

Flashify (Google App Store App) OEM Backups

Hey! I just used a program called Flashify (Found on Google Play Store) to back up both my Kernel (Boot) and System (Recovery) for my LG LEON LTE. I haven't attempted to reinstall these backups using Flashify as of yet, since I just rooted my phone and installed TWRP bootloader so I can try out a ROM... so, I have no idea how it works or if you can use it with any other bootloader app. However, I am attempting to offer you some kind of OEM Backup. I'm pretty new at some of this. I haven't posted enough to add links yet, but I'm going to try.
I have a LG Leon LTE for T-Mobile. My OEM details are as follows:
Android Version: 5.1.1 Lollipop
Baseband Version: MPSS.DPM.2.0.c11-00021-M8936FAAAANUZM-1.19638.1.19833.1
Kernel: 3.10.49
Build: LMY47V
Software Version: H34510f
These downloads are only available until 11/26/2015 due my only having a free account on the hosts site. I hope they help!
Kernel (Boot): OEM 3.10.49 @ http: //sabercathost. com/5Y7 (60 second wait for free download)
System (Recovery): OEM @ http: //sabercathost. com/5Y8 (60 second wait for free download)
Again.. I used Flashify (for root users) free from Google Play Store to create these backups. I have no clue if they can be used by any other programs for recovery. If you have/or can get Flashify, I'd like to believe they can be used for your STOCK recovery.
I may try and make a more common backup of these using ROM Toolbox Pro and see if I can host the files elsewhere that isn't limited to 7 days before paying for premium. If I do, I'll come back and update you or anyone else in need with the new locations.
Wish you luck!
Could u please post that I need a nandroid of that desperately

[How To] Root - Backup - Custom Recovery - Blu Studio C (D830U)

What you will need:
KingRoot V4.5.0.901 (latest version as of this posting)
Rooting your phone will void your warranty.
Terminal Emulator for Android
Replace KingUser with SuperSU
MtkDroidTools v2.5.3-updated
adbd Insecure v2.00
SP Flash Tool
I am not going to get into how to install ADB drivers, MtkDroidTools, or SP Flash Tool. If you are not experienced with rooting, flashing, etc., please do some research.
Okay, let's get started
First you will need to get your phone rooted. Download KingRoot using the link above and follow this guide.
Next you will need to replace KingUser with SuperSU.
Now that we have the phone rooted and SuperSU in place, we can use MtkDroidTools to make a backup of the phone.
This video will show you how to backup your phone with MtkDroidTools (make sure you have downloaded the version I provided, as this has updated ADB files). Also make sure you enabled adbd Insecure before you connect your phone (you don't need to check enable at boot).
Once you have a successful backup, you need to create the files for flashing (scroll down to PREPARING EXTRACTED MTK ANDROID FLASH FILES FOR FLASH TOOLS) if you need to flash back to the original firmware.
Hopefully you now have a backup of your phone. Now we can install a custom recovery. You can use either TWRP (rename to recovery.img) or PhilZ.
The easiest way to flash the custom recovery is with SP Flash Tool. Connect your phone (you don't need adbd Insecure enabled for this). Run flash_tool.exe as administrator. For scatter-loading File click on the Scatter-loading folder
and navigate to your MtkDroidTools backups folder. There should be a folder that starts with BLU-STUDIO-C. Open that folder and select MT6582_Android_scatter.txt. For the recovery file, navigate to the one you downloaded (TWRP or PhilZ) by clicking on the Location column next to RECOVERY.
Make sure RECOVERY is the only box checked before proceeding. Now you have your scatter file and custom recovery loaded. Click on the Download button. Nothing will happen at this point. Now shut down your phone (not restart). Once your phone shuts down completely, plug it in via USB and you should see it begin to flash the custom recovery. If not, then you need to make sure you have the necessary drivers installed. Once it's complete, you can close out SP Flash Tool and disconnect your phone. After your phone is disconnected, hold down the power and volume up buttons until the recovery menu appears :good:
Post your feedback, and if you encounter any problems, please be as descriptive as possible. Good Luck

Thanks for this guide, it has worked for me so far (backing up with mtkdroidtools now). Can I ask, why is it neccessary to use SPFT to flash the recovery? I have used fastboot to flash the recovery without issues. I just
$ fastboot oem unlock
and then was able to
$ fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and it worked.

Also, would you be able to port some custom roms for this phone?

Glad it worked out for you. Yes, fastboot is also an option (as you all ready know).
Recovery could probably be flashed with Flashify, but haven't tried it. I am not a developer, so no I can't port any ROM's, and take no credit for the custom recoveries listed here.

Bricked Blu Studio C (D830U)
Hey,
Was wondering if you could help me out here, as I'm a TOTAL Noob when it Comes to BLU phones But not to flashing....
I've Bricked by Phone, The Computer and SP Flash Tools still recognize the phone..
I've Downloaded the proper ROM from NeedRom.com....
My Issues:
1. Can you Verify WHICH Driver I should Be Using for a FULL either Erase/Download Or a Firmware Upgrade (Not Sure Which)
2. I need a Scatter File the Contains ALL the Memory address and Supplies ALL the Check Marks for a FULL Rewrite Flash....The One with the rom is missing Preloader Android, Cache, and usrdata...
When I did JUST the Scatter file flash attempt I got the BROM_ERROR : S_DL_GET_DRAM_SETTING_FAIL ( 5054 )
I googled that and it said the Perloader wsn't right So I added the Perloader (And checked the "firmware.info file" and seen the Memory:
preloader 0x0000000000c00000 0x0000000000000000 2 /dev/misc-sd
So I tried Anyway and got the same error except this time it's 4032.
So Basically Can you tell Me Which Files In the ROM I Download Go Into Which SLOTS on SPFTools, and Which memory address' are correct the firmware file or the Scatter??
I really don't want to keep slamming the phone with "STUFF" and REALLY screw something up, I think I'm lucky it's even being recognized at this point....
Also the MTK_Allinone_DA.bin that comes with SPFTools is the right one??!?!
I'm Using Version 5.13.52.200
I'm Assuming Just a FULL Scatter file would solve the problem?!?!?
ANYHELP In this Would be VERY much Appreciated....
Thanks
Mike
EDIT:
Ok, I got it to 4001 Error, And it's saying that error is it's not connecting with the preloader, So I'm thinking (hoping) if I can get those 3 files, even if the cache is empty as long as the memory address is right, and the scatter.txt, and do a Firmware upgrade, Hope, will solve the problem, if not, On to Test Pins...
@bobl61
Could work together to enhance MTKDroid liek as

Hey Thanks, I've made some progress today, The rom is on Need Rom.com so best to just google Needrom and D830U as It's internal search doesn't work so well....
I Got a New (Cheap, Used Phone) and to my Suprise It's an MT65XX Chip set Also (ACK!!!!!)..................... NO WAY IT JUST BOOTED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOOK FOREVER!!!!!
Ok I learned that with the Downloaded ROM from Needrom, You Need to Go to MTK Tools and Process blocks for flash, The go to the Directory you Extracted the ROM to, And It'll bring up the MD5 file click it and It'll create the Scatterfile and the "!FLASH" Directory, Then Navigate to the !FLASH (something) Directory and you'll have your scatterfile.txt, Load it up, I added ALL files (see Screen Shot) and it's booted up.... You need to use Preloader Drivers for it, And I HAD TO FORMAT AND FLASH.... And what you see in the SPFlashtool screen shot is what I flashed....
I'm not a GUIDE writer sorry, But Hopefully this will give hope to those like me (that have been bricked for ALONG TIME) Hope.....
If anyone needs info on this Ask, I'll try and answer.....

Update, Just a Heads Up I'm Assuming from Googling around, that Installing the NVRAM will wipe your IMEI, Still working on this aspect, But it doesn't seem to be Hindering the phone in anyway, As I said It Took along time to boot up, So I'm not sure if Re-writing the NVRAM made it work or not, I do know I formatted + Download, and It Sat On the Splash Screen, I shut down and Flashed just the NVRAM file, and It booted.....
NOW Should I go for a Custom Recovery??? LOL.... I'll wait.... But now that I know I can Fix it......Hmmmmm

You are correct. I didn't realize the video on how to backup the stock rom did not include the next step which is to create the files needed to flash with MTK. Good catch, Miker1029 :good:

Hey Thanks, Maybe you can redo it or whatever, I was bricked for Months (Mainly Because i didn't know the Phone Type), Check out the screenshots to see the extent I went to Googling My Butt Off trying to figure it out, But once I did, All went good, I've flashed Atleast 100 Phones, For me, Friends, Family, Never had the Kind of issues I had with the MTK Chipset...
But now that I have it, It's rooted, Flashed, Xposed Framework Installed and working, Exactly what I was "Originally" trying to do....LOL, It's good now tho...
Now Funny thing I lost My Compass on it, and Sensor detector says it's working fine, So Not sure what's Interfering With it.... Hate to Re-Flash
SOOO, If I GOTTA re-flash Been looking around for 6.0 (Marshmallow) Build for it (No Luck)
1st Pic, Just the Face.
2nd Pic, Where I Cut the Battery Connector (Casing) to the Board so I could Disconnect the Battery without taking the phone apart....
3rd Pic, I left the screws out as There's a Little spring on the Bottom-Left (Looking from the back) that Makes the speaker work, And On the Bottom-Right is the antenna connection that I can't get to "Snap" back in..... So I left the screws out to fix those minor issues, I'm trying to NOT open it anymore then I already have LOL

Little. More details would be nice..
Did you download the rom from needrom?
Did you create the flashable files from that rom?
Did you generate and add scatter file?
Did you format and flash?
Did you check device manager to see if it's using the pre drives?
Did you remove any and alll USB / MTK drives, except the pre driver?
Disd you start the flash THEN plug on the phone? Does MTK say on the bottom PRE driver?
And finally i believe my issue was some kind of lock up as the battery isnt removable so i cut the casing to access the battery connector and basically stated the flash and attached the battery connection..
Alls i can say is i was at the exact same spot as you i flashed 3 or 4 totally incorrect roms, and had that driver issue, when i finally got the proper rom and fixed the driver issue it worked, and it did take like 20 to 30 minutes for the ohone to boot the 1st time..

Also, i used the recovery that came with the rom and when it finally booted up, i flashed the custom recovery...
And if you decide to go with disconnecting the battery be careful as some months after the female connection on the board broke completely off... I hate any phone without a way to break the electrical connection think it's stupid..
Good luck,
Mike

Ok i'm going to explain my journey from soft-to-revive history:
I was trying to install a custom recovery for my D830U (Blu) and end up in this thread. I made all the steps
-Rooted the phone with kingroot
-Removed kingroot and installed SuperSU
-Instaled insecure adbd insecure
-I made a backup of my stock rom with MtkDroidsTool(wich is the needrom provided, since i flashed my phone while ago)
-Drivers are installed (VCOM)
Everything is downloaded from the links in the post
Ok at this point i did everything exactly like the guide, great
Ok now the part were "something" failed is:
I got the scatter file in the mtkdroidstool backup folder and REPLACED the recovery to the PhilZ recovery.img in the link of the first post. And flashed normaly. Here is where things got bad
I disconnected the phone and realized it got bootloop, couldnt start the phone and can't get into recovery (when i press vol+ button it goes to black screen), because i installed a bad/not compatible philz recovery.img(AGAIN ITS FROM THE PROVIDED LINK) ok now i'm worried but no problem, i tried to reflash with original stock rom and eventually after many tries i got into a normal recovery mode and the phone boots normal..
Now my phone is at the start point. Can you tell me which version of custom recovery are you currently using? Or what procedure should i follow to get into it? Again thanks! Cheers.
Ya I'll upload the recovery i used, I'll get it here sometime today..
I'm not sure which it is, as i said, the power connection for the battery broke off the board awhile ago, so it's either philz or twrp.
Also, if I'm remembering correctly, you have to add the other drivers, not the pre driver, you can try it with the pre, and if you don't get the green check use the other ones, and when you go flash, I'd backup your recovery you have now and put it somewhere safe...
Ill also add the version of xposed i used, if i can find it.. I know i had to install the. Zip files from recovery...
Mike
I believe this is the custom recovery i flashed, i no longer have the phone to test, but i believe i removed all except the stock and custom..
As i said back up your current recovery..
Let me know so i can mark it my puter.. Thanks
Mike
Also let me add, I had a bad philz also, not sure if i got it here, or somewhere else, but i have it marked as philz doesnt work on my computer...
Ok folks, two downloads, can you provide an update?
I'm trying to help with an obscure phone..
So a report back, for the people, would be nice.
