Shoot RAW - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
As the Camera2 API isn't in the last release of lollipop for the note for (I own the F - European version of it), I was wondering if it was possible to allow Raw (DNG) shooting with a custom ROM or anything else... What do you think ?
Thanks !

I think that no at this moment ......I have N910F too, I swapped from N910C before a 2 days but I am very disapointed with camera on F version. There is a too much noise ....photos from C version are sharper.
I sell my Exynos variant due to CM12 possibility on SnapDragon.

AFAIK the n910f and the n910c share exactly the same sensor. So there shouldn't be any difference. Right on your camera's glass Samsung usually put a little piece of flake which you might want to peel off. Maybe that's what makes your shots blurry. Other than that, it might be software settings (or post-processing in case you are on a different version). But the shots should be identical. Cheer on, at least the Snap805 is the better chipset. This big.LITTLE farce is a joke and on the development side you know Samsung will hold their source codes for months before making them publicly available. I have the n910c and it's not that great.

Cameras Sensor Strange?? Must check

So i decided to check my camera sensor on my N910C Running erobot 2.0 Marshmallow
This is what i found out
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8-6e_5n2ovpV0xSLVFaQ0pILXc
I have 2 Sensors in one device
Is this suppose to happen?
Some sites say that the Back Camera Of the Exynos variant should be Samsung's SLSR / ISOCELL
The SOny IMX240 Should be on the Snapdragon.
What do you guys think
Interesting.

Is there any hope for the 1000fps slow motion video recording?

Before S8 was officially released, I have read "leaks" that the phone supposedly has 1k fps slow motion video recording, because the camera chip was capable of it.
Is the camera module in S8 really capable of that? If so, then do you think Samsung will later introduce the feature, or that maybe someone could create a ROM with such a feature?
I don't think this is the camera, our camera is pretty much the same as last year S7, the 1k FPS is the newest Sony camera that just came out, but I could be wrong, since I can't find reference to camera model with this capability. I think we do have 240FPS max.
Then whats up with all those leaks? I thought they got the specs, so they analyzed the HW and realized it was capable of it, so naturally they expected it in S8. I, of course, could be wrong, but I still thought that maybe Samsung just decided to hide the feature so they could make some great update and act like big heroes bringing amazing updates, like they did with the original galaxy S.
Anyone know if 1000fps is possible on S8's hardware? Really freaking hoped it would be implemented, because the phone wasnt nearly as great as I hoped the S8 will be. Pretty much S7 Edge with less bazel I have an S8+ btw.
You assume every leak is legit? Come on...
Well last I read the sensor in the US model is the same as the upcoming sony Xperia. So in theory maybe. As for the international s8 like mine, it has the same spec sensor but built by someone else and not sony so may not be capable of the same thing.
Here http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Sony-Xperia-XZs-Review_id4351/page/3 Sony XZs with 19MP sensor and sensor has dedicated large frame buffer to store those frames. As far as I know S8 has 12 MP sensor which is just newer model of S7. Also the review says that cam is not so good in low light, not sure if I would want to trade 12 MP sensor we have now, with good low light performance to 19MP sensor with low light performance not as good but with 4x slower slow motion.

Wrong thread dude
I just bought a samsung galaxy s7 edge model SM-G935T honestly I'm disappointed at the photo level. I was expecting a lot better especially on this model I have a sony imx 260 sensor, which is weird with the Chinese smartphone leeco pro 3 which a sensor sony imx 298 of lower quality. I can produce better shots on leeco X722 thanks to the Google camera. Is there a way to install the gcam on samsung so you can get the most out of it?

Search is your friend, there are working gcam ports for this phone, albeit it can't store pics to external storage without jumping through a couple of hoops.

Yes, I am aware that there are certainly some versions of gcam function for the Samsung SM-G935T especially that I am very connected in this area with leeco pro 3 which accepts almost all versions of this list thank you for having me answered.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
It's good, I found version 6.1021 works best on the Samsung SM-G935T under oreo and bug least compared to others. Exactly it is the one I use with my leeco pro 3 but against the battery it is empty at a speed unbelievable. On leeco the application is better optimized, it consumes less battery. As you can see I took some pictures with the application.

There is another version that works very well on my samsung SM-G935T snapdragon 820 without crash compared to others is this version or there is precisely Yuv_420_888 which must be selected in the settings for no bug.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_Potter_v6slidertest-san1ty.apk
On this version the viewfinder and much faster.
I have two versions that works well on our smartphone under snapdragon 820 with the rom oreo even without being rooted.
There are several, but I chose the most recent one.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a+.apk
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V1a_xcam_0.apk
Do the tests and look at the one that brings you the most satisfaction.
This is a new version of gcam that is rich in option and works well under oreo but it does not crash.
install this one first
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V1a_xcam_0.apk
and over install this new version and create a gcam folder with the file config.xml

for the Exynos processor I do not think it's compatible with me running under a snapdragon 820 processor with the official Oreo Rom without root.
For exynos under the rom oreo test rather those of this list

I explained in my previous comment to be able to install the second application without crash and that it is very rich in option, it must first install the first application is configure it by activating the hdr +
and after finishing the installation of the first, especially do not uninstall it that is the same developer of the second, and install the second that will take over the first.
the goal is that the second application installs without any crash.
I am getting the same green tint all over the picture specialy front cam.
Please help me
For selfies install this app in addition
do not uninstall the other.
because I tried all the parameters, but unfortunately, the green tint remains present.
it works best for selfies without the drawbacks of red or green hue.

sorry, but you have a serious problem, I notice that you do not read enough previous messages that I posted or explain that these versions are compatible only for the Samsung Galaxy S7 under the Snapdragon 820 processor, and I do not do that at chance, at first I try first on my smartphone Leeco pro 3 because with this phone all versions are compatible, but the objective is to compare the quality of the images, if it is of good quality I made the try on my Samsung smartphone and if it works, I share it with others in the community who have the same processor as mine because most have tested and posted versions it works on their smartphone, but the problem is that you rush without reading what I posted before, if you resume all my previous messages that I put online or I answer a person who asks me if it works under the Exynos processor? I answer that it does not work because it is not the same processor.
Funny people go crazy for no reason.. For your record, I have spent lot of time searching and trying. And. By the way, the mentioned comboo WORK on my Exynos S7.

Please forgive me for my previous message that I misinterpreted but soon I intend to get the same phone as the samsung SM-G930F is I will do google camera tests thank you
Listen, I'll give you an example on this version
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog324/
which is in my opinion the best GCAM of all the cameras that I tested on my Leeco pro 3, but unfortunately, does not work on the Samsung Galaxy S7 under Oreo because for me, it's the best version of all GCAM that I tested is particularly the most complete in the viewfinder attaches to perfection and works perfectly on my Leeco pro 3 that it is for selfies or tip top of the rear camera, I wanted to run it on the Samsung but alas the crash of the device.

No more Sony camera sensors on Qualcomm version?!

Last years all the S and Note versions use to have Sony IMX sensors on Qualcomm version and SLSI (Samsung low quality sensors) on the Exynos version.
I just test a Qualcomm version from China and I was very surprised to discover with Aida64 that Samsung uses the low quality sensors even on this Qualcomm version, only the selfie sensor is IMX from Sony.
I just wonder, in US version with Qualcomm it's the same? Becouse, I really like the IMX sensors vs Samsung ones
Just check it with AIDA64 and let us know pls. Thank You!
Confirmed...slsi on US model.

Same on Canadian
You shouldn't call them low quality, Sony is actually quite behind hardware-wise and Samsung is getting rid of it for a reason, you can very well expect the next Pixel to have an ISOCELL sensor too, it would really do wonders with good processing.
Many manufacturers are sourcing these sensors from Samsung, Apple includes them in their latest phones too
But yeah, the only Sony IMX Qualcomm S10s have is the front camera, everything else is a proprietary upgrade.
I have an Exynos and I'm very happy with the rear camera, disappointed with the front one, it's applying a pink-clear effect on skins no matter the settings and I just don't come from a culture obsessed with automatic photo editing to make faces look like plastic, I want total accuracy and I hope they give up on the Asian autophotoshop bull**** with future updates, I don't need that.

Clarification Google Camera 2.5.052 By Google LLC Android 4.4+?

Hi,
I sometimes use my Note 3 rear camera but since my phone OS is still KitKat 4.4 miss not having more manual control.
Just read "Google Camera" By Amal Kunju https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help/google-camera-t3774516
RaduNastase posted "This is the last 4.4.x kit kat compatible version (the one i use)." https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...5-052-release/ using this I read "This release does not have a Play Store Description, so we grabbed one from version 6.2.030.244457635:"
At bottom of page "There's a more recent version available below!"
Download This release may come in several variants. Consult our handy FAQ to see which download is right for you.

Question for everyone: There is No version for Android 5. I ask this because recently read "#6 What the hell is Camera2 API and why should I know about it?" https://smartfilming.blog/2017/06/17/what-the-hell-is-camera2-api-and-why-should-i-know-about-it/ which mentions "With version 5 (Lollipop), Google introduced the so-called Camera2 API to give camera app developers better access to more advanced controls of the camera, like manual exposure (ISO, shutter speed), focus, RAW capture etc."
If I decide to upgrade to a newer version Android OS is 6 the min?
Then checked [ROM][9.0.0_r37] Havoc-OS 2.5 [STABLE][OFFICIAL][HLTE/CHN/KOR/TMO] https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-havocos-2-2-t3903379
Is anyone using it and does everything for the camera work?

not everything works, we have hardware limitation.
The Note 3 doesn't have Camera2Api therefore what you can do with the camera on AOSP (Pie) is quiet basic. Photo and video solely. No HDR, no slow-motion etc.
Hi Mohamedkam000,
"not everything works, we have hardware limitation." Thanks for the info!
Beginners question: Have been looking for a Android hardware info app that gives the mfr and model of the camera module. Do you know of any? Next best, any websites that provide this info for Samsung phones?
Ken
PS searched and found "Rear Back Camera Flex Cable for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 N900A N900T N900V" https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Back-...405975?hash=item2cb04d21d7:g:hjsAAOSwqfNXn-8x Does not mention if OEM?
Also found "Rear Back Camera Flex Cable for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 N900A N900T N900V" https://www.ebay.com/b/For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3-Neo-Cell-Cameras-Parts/43304/bn_71554827 whic mentions "For Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 N900P N900A N900T N900V. We might provide an RMA number. It may vary depending on your local. This is our SOP,for us to be certain and. received and also your original item so we can compare and conduct " More than one camera module?
Ken
Hi infoflo,
"The Note 3 doesn't have Camera2Api" Thanks for the comment. Thought this was software dependent. Then read "#6 What the hell is Camera2 API and why should I know about it?" which mentions "...So does every Android device running Lollipop have the new Camera 2 API? Yes and no. While Camera2 API is the new standard Camera API since Android Lollipop, there are different levels of implementation of this API which vary between different phone makers and devices. There are four different levels of Camera2 implementation: Legacy, Limited, Full and Level 3. ‚Legacy‘ means that only the features from the old Camera1 API are available, ‚Limited‘ means that some features of the new API are available, ‚Full‘ means that all basic new features of Camera2 are available and ‚Level 3‘ adds some bonus features like RAW capture on top of that."
Has anyone implemented "Camera2Api Level 3" in any Note 3 OS versions 5+?
Ken
Nandroid and flash it.
