[Q] Need to change Device ID - WM 6 - Please help! - Windows Mobile

Hi All,
I'm really hoping someone here can assist me with this issue. I need to change the hard-coded (to ROM) Device ID (unique Id) on Intermec C3 pocket PCs running WM6. I've tried many, many things to find and change the number with no success. If anyone could help, it would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan

I'm in a position to pay for assistance with this as well. Just wanted to throw that out there

Call your vendor and say you have changed your device, they should blank your navigation reg key until you run your map on a "new" device and reassign the license...

Hooking a BT headset callerID

Hi ya all,
I am currently using a BT headset with CallerID (Jabra 800).
Since my contact DB is not in english lamguage, the headset which apprently does not contain hebrew font can show only the phon num of the caller.
I am seeking a way to hook/replace the w2003se handling.
I have thorughly serached the online help/internet for the details from where to start and it seems that it is related (ofcourse) to the "Audio Gateway Service" in a library called "Phone-Extension Component".
This library exports a function called "BthAGGetNameByPhoneNumber" and is in a dll file (Btagsvc.dll I think) which is oofcourse burnt in the ROM.
I am searching for a way to hook/replace this function in the DLL somehow.
I have done hooking in the past for windows message handler routines but to my understanding, this is not the case.
So here it is, how do hook or replace that dll code, (maybe in respect to Service.exe only)?
I do belive that any work here will be helpfull around the globe so I will happyly share everything when done.
Also if anyone has more information and/or corrections to the above - don't be shy
Keep up the good work poeple,
Micha
there is no function BthAGGetNameByPhoneNumber in any of the DLLs in Imate PDA2K 1.40 ROM
Guess you are right, I also did not see the Btagsvc.dll file.
I see now that the documentation I found is for WCE5.0, so it's pretty much irrelevent for WM2003SE
Any suggestions on how to proceed here from the big guns? :?
Hi michar,
i have the BT800 and PDA2K.
The contacts are in english but i still get on the Jabra the phone number displayed.
Do you think its possible to display the name of the contact ?
Cheers
Chris
Well, if I will find the function resposeable for querying the number->name, maybe I could also help you with it.
As of now, for lack of time I am stuck
I will update if the status will change.

HELP - Clone Question

I have a utility that i can use to clone an XDA via an SD card. This works great for quickly producing lots of devices with the same config. However, it also makes the "Device ID" the same on each device.
I know you can rename the Device ID, not a problem. The problem comes that although the device ID name (text) is different, the names within the registry are not.
I am basicly looking for a way to give the device a new SID?
does anybody have a utility for this? Its causing me a real problem with my management software.
Thanks
Resolved.
Problem was a .ini file in the storage location
Hi Noodleman
I am looking for some software to achieve the same thing.
Can you tell me what you use ? (Plus give me some tips on how to use it)
I would really appreatiate the help on this !

Intercepting and rewriting phone # before dial

Hi!
I'm a new windows mobile user, developer by trade. I have a need for an application that will intercept a dial attempt from contacts or smart dialing and apply some re-write rules to the number then proceeding with the dial as normal. I've not found such a program for WM (I use TakePhone to do it on Treo 650) so I decided to try to write it!
This is for Windows Mobile 5 (on a wizard, if it matters).
I'm a Java developer, and rarely use Windows so I'm not so up on the technology used for this kind of thing, but no matter. I orderd the Windows Mobile 5 developer thing from MS and have it all installed. Using the managed code Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Telephony stuff I can dial a phone number. I suppose I could even add a menu to the contact that would specifically run my code and then I could use the Phone.Talk thing to place the call, however, I'd really like to enable the program and just have it work in the background when it is enabled.
First, can this be done with managed code? If so, how! Any input would be appreciated. Also, if you know of software that does this already, I'll just go buy it.
Thanks in advance!
this should be possible to be done with managed code, but the only idea I have now is hooking RIL.DLL or COM-port communications. And the easiest way to hook something - is to use C/C++.
Thanks for the reply! I've done some searching on RIL and RILGSM and found minimal info regarding "hooking" it. It seems that the person most likely to have done it is "itsme" who has posted a bit of information regarding the entry points and functions available in said DLL.
I'll keep looking...

Owner Information on Today Screen

I want to remove the label "Owner:" that appears before owner information on the Today Screen. It's just taking up space and keeps me from being able to enter Name and Phone Number in the Name field and have it fit on one line. I've tried to find a registry entry or setting that may affect the label, but I suspect it's coded and, therefore, a little beyond my skills. Can anyone either tell me how to change it or perhaps create a small script to remove the label. Thanks!
It's not possible (certainly not by script). Even if whatever DLL is responsible for displaying owner details (I am fairly sure it is not a stand alone regular plugin) could be hacked to remove the string resource it would still not align the writing to the left.
My suggestion is to google for alternatives (there are even free ones) for the "owner" plugin.
ownerinfoX
Try this.
Thanks for both replies
ownerinfoX is a nice little app. Perfect for what I needed.
Thanks again.
I could never get OwnerInfoX to work on my PPC6700. Is it WM5 compatible?

fieldtest users: need help!

Hi, I'm developping a sublayer to abstract the way the developpers use CellID, and the methods to get the datas from different devices.
I reverse engineered fieldtest.exe and would like to test it. I contacted some of you, and none gave me the informations I was needing. The problem is: I think I have the correct request, but don't know what kind of structure it is. If you could provide a screenshot, it would be a great help to quickly identify the structure.
I don't have a Hermes, and I cannot try it by myself.
Could you please test this in debug version (D and not R)
http://usuc.dyndns.org/tv/gsm/gsmcelluloz/
Here you'll see the result (maps of signals per cellid)
http://usuc.dyndns.org/tv/gsm/
Thanks to send me the \Temp\gsmcelluloz.txt files (stop it after a minute, could quickly become very big!) to: [email protected]
This way, you'll be able to use a DLL to get cellid which will work on many devices, because it uses COM port method, GSMTestMode method, offset method and soon (I hope) fieldtest method.
I will try it when get home, so i can run a backup in case the worst happens and i need to hard reset
It's just an application, it won't brick your device
Anyway, It reminds me to make one.... It's always useful to have a recent backup...
It will show only "0" for now, because I don't have the gsmcelluloz_log.txt files made on HERMES to understand how the answer looks like. But shortly after I'll have those files, it will show the real values.
Please add a fieldtest screenshot to help me identify the fields
Thanks
i've mailed you the log file and the screen shot.
Here are my logs. Hope it helps.
