HELP - Clone Question - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I have a utility that i can use to clone an XDA via an SD card. This works great for quickly producing lots of devices with the same config. However, it also makes the "Device ID" the same on each device.
I know you can rename the Device ID, not a problem. The problem comes that although the device ID name (text) is different, the names within the registry are not.
I am basicly looking for a way to give the device a new SID?
does anybody have a utility for this? Its causing me a real problem with my management software.
Thanks

Resolved.
Problem was a .ini file in the storage location

Hi Noodleman
I am looking for some software to achieve the same thing.
Can you tell me what you use ? (Plus give me some tips on how to use it)
I would really appreatiate the help on this !

when i looked into TinyGPS............

Everyone who talk about getting the cell id and lac must also know this
TinyGPS software, and i am one of them.
Unfortunately, i haven't successfully get the cell id and lac.
Though i read a lot topics in this forum and a lot articles that i find by using
google, all of my tries are failur.
So i decided to find out why TinyGPS work well on my smartphone while
my program even can not open com:2 port.
Then i find that after you installed TinyGPS, it will also install a file named
tinygps.dll which is actully a serial port driver, and it will also change your
default com:2 driver to this tinygps.dll by modify your registry key. I think
that is why after you install TinyGPS you have to restart your smartphone,
because the new registry setting have to take affect.
So i wonder if i can write a serial port driver just like tinygps.dll. But i only
develop applicationes for smartphone before , not the hardware driver.
I think this will not be a easy task, and i am here calling for help.
Did anybody know how to write a drive for com:2 (gsm modem)?
or at least someone is interested in writing one with me?
BTW:can someone send me a copy of serial2.dll which xda used as the
com:2 driver, maybe i can replace my original one with serial2.dll , and
find if my program can open com:2 port then.

Altering name/location of "My Documents" (+ Extended ROM & Basic/Corporate questions)

Altering name/location of "My Documents" (+ Extended ROM & Basic/Corporate questions)
Hi,
I've been lurking at these forums for quite a while (after a Google search to determine why I couldn't receive files over Bluetooth led me here) and I recently registered so I could ask a question I apologise for the length of this post and offer [virtual] coffee & cookies & thanks in advance to anyone who bothers to read it all the way through! I swear I did try to keep it short, but sadly that's never been one of my strong points ;P
These are the details of the phone I have:
- HTC Wizard (WIZA200) branded as an 'O2 XDA Mini S' (G4).
- 1GB MiniSD card installed.
- IPL/SPL: 2.21.0001
- ROM Version: 2.21.4.1 WWE
- Radio Version: 02.07.10
- Protocol Version: 413.1.03
To the best of my knowledge my Wizard is a G4 (it seems to meet the criteria posted at the top of this G3 unlocking thread) and I've done some searching & reading, so I'm aware that there are limitations to what I can do unless I'm prepared to pay to have my phone CID unlocked which... I'm not, honestly. I'd love to play about with different ROMS but it isn't a priority at the moment -- my Wizard is running relatively well (and infinitely faster without the O2 gunk).
However (isn't there always a 'however'? heh) I have a couple of questions I haven't been able to answer for myself...
Question 1:
I hard-reset my phone earlier today with the intention of reinstalling to Corporate (to remove the O2 standard software, which sucks and takes up more space than I'm prepared to compromise) and... corporate wasn't there. I know you only get a few seconds to choose and I was watching for it like a hawk, but my Wizard didn't give me the option, it just automatically defaulted to basic.
I know I've seen it show up before... but I hard-reset twice more after the first attempt and it didn't show up on any of the three tries. I was able to use the information in this FAQ instead and soft-reset before the O2 crap could force itself on my precious Wizard, but I'm curious as to why I no longer seem to have the Corporate option.
Can anyone suggest a reason why this is? Has anyone run into this little Wizard 'quirk' before? Is it an O2 bug? Something else?
Question 2:
I'd like to rename my "My Documents" folder to "Documents" and place it on my storage card. I've found the instructions for altering its location at the Wiki and followed them to the letter -- they worked perfectly -- but I can't seem to permanently rename the folder. I know it's a silly little thing to want to change but the Windows style of naming it "My Documents" instead of just "Documents" has irritated me (somewhat irrationally, I'll admit, heh) for years.
I use a MacBookPro as my primary computer (though I do have a desktop PC as well) and I wanted to store my files on my storage card in a similar file structure, i.e.:
Code:
\Storage_Card
\Documents
\Photos
\Videos
\Program Files
...etc, instead of having everything store itself inside "My Documents".
Using Total Commander (found via a post from these forums; couldn't live without it!) I've modified the filepaths I found at the following locations:
Code:
\\\registry\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\Folder\
\\\registry\HKLM\Explorer\Shell Folders\
\\\registry\HKCU\Software\IA Style\IA CameraWizard(Pocket PC)\3.00\Strings\
...but it doesn't seem to have helped me out much. When I take a picture, for example, it re-creates the "My Documents" folder I renamed to "Documents" and stores the photo in a "My Pictures" folder within it. I've altered filepaths in other registry folders before as well (..and now I wish I'd written them down!) but nothing I've found and altered so far seems to solve the problem.
Is it at all possible to change this permanently? I really, really hate the "My [whatever]" format and would love to be free of it, but if it isn't then I'll reset again to remove the mods I've made so far -- I don't want to be half&half, that's bound to cause me a problem later on. If it's possible though, even if it's tricky, I'd love someone to let me know how to change it. Another night of combing through the registry trying to figure it out myself is going to drive me insane!
Question 3:
If I navigate to "\Extended_ROM\" with Total Commander, I can delete the O2 files stored there (which I didn't think I could do with a G4 but I'm not complaining). However... after a soft reset, they're back. I don't have any of them installed (hello, free memory!) and they let me delete them, so I'm not sure exactly why they keep restoring themselves.
Can anyone shed some light on why I can't delete these "lovely" pieces of software permanently? Are any of them useful and worth installing? The Java voice-calling/MMS one? None of them?
If you made it through the whole post, thank you! If you need me to clarify anything further, just let me know and I'll do my best to provide the information.
This forum & all of you who post here to help others out are awesome Thanks for building such a useful and interesting resource!

fieldtest users: need help!

Hi, I'm developping a sublayer to abstract the way the developpers use CellID, and the methods to get the datas from different devices.
I reverse engineered fieldtest.exe and would like to test it. I contacted some of you, and none gave me the informations I was needing. The problem is: I think I have the correct request, but don't know what kind of structure it is. If you could provide a screenshot, it would be a great help to quickly identify the structure.
I don't have a Hermes, and I cannot try it by myself.
Could you please test this in debug version (D and not R)
http://usuc.dyndns.org/tv/gsm/gsmcelluloz/
Here you'll see the result (maps of signals per cellid)
http://usuc.dyndns.org/tv/gsm/
Thanks to send me the \Temp\gsmcelluloz.txt files (stop it after a minute, could quickly become very big!) to: [email protected]
This way, you'll be able to use a DLL to get cellid which will work on many devices, because it uses COM port method, GSMTestMode method, offset method and soon (I hope) fieldtest method.
I will try it when get home, so i can run a backup in case the worst happens and i need to hard reset
It's just an application, it won't brick your device
Anyway, It reminds me to make one.... It's always useful to have a recent backup...
It will show only "0" for now, because I don't have the gsmcelluloz_log.txt files made on HERMES to understand how the answer looks like. But shortly after I'll have those files, it will show the real values.
Please add a fieldtest screenshot to help me identify the fields
Thanks
i've mailed you the log file and the screen shot.
Here are my logs. Hope it helps.

How to forbid *.exe & *.cab installing in WM6

Hello All,
I want to make some application for PPC's under WM6 that restrict users from installation any software on PPC.
Does somebody faced with this?
I was looking for some tweakers or smth, to look how it gonna be, but nothing found for WM6.
I was looking for some registry hacks, but no luck.
Any ideas are welcome.
Cheers.
what a thread, so this could help:
1. dont give it to your brother,
2. ask your daddy to buy him his own ppc
3. make a backup
4. give the mio to your mom and go back to kindergarden
5.and just open a thread on a developers side if you have something usefull.
hope i could help you
Well I can see this being as the device used for demonstration purpose and OP wants to forbid people from messing it up.
One thing I can think of is to make the windows folder and registry files "read-only" so no other things can be added or used on the phone, after configure the phone the way you wanted.
I'm sure its possible, as a Exchange Activesync security policy.

Forbidding an EXE from installing would also prevent EXE's from running. Thus rendering everything on the device inopperable.
Preventing CAB files from running though, should just be a matter of altering the registry and what the associated actions for CAB files are.
look in \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cabfile\Shell\Open\Command\
The default string value is wceload.exe "%1" /XXXXXX (XXXXX can be a value of either /delete or /nodelete)
Anyway breaking this string will prevent cab's from installing.
The only other method of doing something like you want, that I can come up with at the moment, would be to create an app that either runs at startup or as a service. It's function would be as suggested above would be to restrict new files from being created in specified storage/registry locations.
I say NEW files as you would not want to restrict modification of existing files in those locations otherwise you risk breaking functionality of pre installed apps.

Share Storage Card through WIFI

Hello Developers!
I'm look for a software to share my Storage Card from HTC HD2 as Networkdrive. It would be greate to open Windows-Explorer goto: "\\IpAdressOfMyHTCHD2\StorageCard" and here i can handle with the files like they are on a normal PC. Is there a Software or how can i configure this?
I found a Tool Called Wifi-Remote-Access but this only supports File Handling in the Webbrowser which is slow to delete multiple file os to copy multiple files. It is a greate tool to work with single files.
Any suggestion for me?
really useful
I've been looking for the same thing.
I think that this is really useful and interesting. Why always use cables when we have these wifi capable devices, which operate Windows?!
I am surprised that no one else was interested and no one was able to give an idea if it was possible to make this.
