Heads up, TMO price drop. - Note Edge General

TMO introduced a new rate plan today, 2 lines unlimited everything including LTE for $100. I just called and saved $40/m.... That will pay for the Edge of your on Jump. :good::good:

I did this earlier this morning as well. The rep had to look it up. I read about it yesterday and called this morning.
I asked about throttling and he couldn't find anything that mentioned any stipulations.

TMO isn't known for fine print. My rep read her internal memo to me... It's the exact same thing we are use to. Unlimited talk text, this includes now unlimited LTE and 5gb tether (for those who have not rooted)....

I literally just switched to them with the Note Edge release. I've never heard a happier bunch of representatives before in my life.
This came at a perfect time since their other family plan drops you to 2G data speeds once you have expended your alloted LTE data.

This has been the first time I've managed to pass my 2.5gb data limit because right after my month passed I went on vacation where my LTE was faster than their WiFi,and I spent a lot of time messing around on my phone, where I ended up redownloading every app I had like 3x because of testing out lollipop on my S4 and such, then when I got my edge I was on the road and decided to download all my apps and bam I was at like 2.4gb and few days later surpassed my plan. Gotta wait til the 21st :/

T-Mobile 3GB Can be retrieved!

Hi guys,
I apologise if this is in the wrong place but I can't find anywhere this info should go..
I have finally managed to get back my data allowance and speed from T-Mobile, here's the story.
Last year I upgraded to an HTC Desire HD on a £30 a month deal with 3GB data allowance, in April this year T-Mobile screwed me and many others down to a 1GB plan (not adequate for many of the customers), in order to combat this I (stupidly) paid an extra £5 per month for what they called their "totally unlimited data plan with no fair use policy" deal, I figured it would be worth the extra and there wouldn't be any complaints... WRONG!.
On upgrading to this new data plan I instantly lost speed, from 250KB to 40KB per sec, obviously I knew they had done something.. I fought for 2 weeks with their online and Twitter team until today when I came across this number 08454122993, it is their direct mobile broadband team's line, I called it and spoke to a really helpful guy who called himself "H" (some sort of superhero costume probably goes with it) who told me about their speed cap, removed my unlimited data plan and actually managed to give me back my 3GB allowance!! (which is all I ever wanted in the first place).
Even though I don't know his full real name the guy is a legend and I am now a happy consumer again, my only question left is... Why the hell is it so hard to find someone who works for T-Mobile and actually knows what they're talking about?!?, all I've heard for 3 months is that what I have received today is not possible and I'll have to suffer a 2 year contract with their crap network speeds or data allowance.
PS: I hope this helps anyone who was in the same position with T-Mobile as I was.. good luck guys!.

They have a 5GB and 10GB plan above the 2GB plan. So, we already have options, here, in the US.

[GT-N7000] AT&T throttling madness!

I had another long conversation with AT&T today after having barely any data service for the past week even though I have the "unlimited" data plan. My billing cycle started 2/17 and they started to throttle me on 2/18 because I was in the top 5% of users.
AT&T claims I have used close to 6GB worth of data in the last 6 days, 3 days of which I was in an area with no service! My service won't be restored to normal until 3/17!!! She told me I should consider moving to another plan and thats after I accused them of trying to force people off their grand fathered unlimited plans, which she denied.
And their claim that I have service but that it's just slower is a load of bs. With a modern phone a certain amount of bandwidth is required and apparently I'm getting so little I can't access anything for hours at a time. The fact that I use my phone for work makes this completely unacceptable.
Install a traffic monitor to prove their lies. I pity you guys that have to put up with US operator madness.

Onavo seems pretty good.. I don't use much data so I can't say how good long term it is.. It also lets you stop apps from accessing mobile data, and make them wifi only per individual app.

Maybe its my area but I've never had my data service discontinued for X number of days. I have however received several letters from att stating my plan needs an upgrade (move from unlimited to their limited plans. upgrade my Arse) I actually had a rep tell me, it would be faster! lol.
I am grandfathered in on the unlimited data plan. and I generally use 10gb a month. The most I have ever used, in recent memory was 30gb. I got a tether notice once, called them to have them prove it (since i wasn't tethering). I never heard a response back.
I am a civilian contractor for the marines. When we go out on a training op, I bring my phone, a solar battery pack, and we watch Netflix, and a lot of it. lol.
songokussm: They tried the "honey" with their "upgrade to our faster plan" spiel. Now they are using the stick. They will now proceed to jerk you around until you either give in or quit them. Nice eh?
Moderator------Please note my phone is NOT AT&T I717. It's the unlocked version I purchase several months ago. Please move the post back to the correct forum. Thank you.

They are not stopping my data service but they are making it so slow it rarely works.
Perhaps if you are heavy user you get on the **** list and they will may your service terrible. After all, they don't need or want you if you are a heavy user.
They would probably pay you to leave their service.
The only way to fight this would be to switch service.
I suggest you go to Verizon (until they kick you off)

Those CSR's are probably trained to lie to customers calling in to complain about the throttling that applies to the unlimited. Unfortunately, the way they talk makes that rather obvious.
Besides, the corporate clearly wants to force as many people as possible onto tiered data...thinking the insanely heavy data users will go over their limit multiple times each month...to milk more money from them.
Dont give in, unlimited people, Dont give in......
Believe me I'm NOT giving in. I have a feeling AT&T is going to be feeling more heat on this issue.
I would consider going to Verizon for a number of reasons, including their service in my area is much better, but that would mean giving up the Note. Something I'm not prepared to do.

I feel the same as well, doesnt make sense to throtlle unlimited people at 2gb but 3gb plan people dont get throttled at 2gb and essentially we are paying the same thing and for more.

Can't you get around this by creating the new access point with the settings I saw elsewhere in this forum? Seems like that was working for other people.

I just kept calling and complaining and now unthrottled...at least for the time being

I downloaded Radioopt Traffic monitor earlier today and so far I've used 1GB today, almost all email! 430mb via wireless and 365mb via AT&T Data.
I have numerous email accounts but only two were set for frequent updates, one at every 5 minutes, one at every 30 minutes. I've adjusted them all to see if my usage goes down.

Black Wireless (AT&T mvno)

http://www.blackwireless.com/Default.aspx
Has anyone tried them yet or currently using their service? $60 unlimited with 2gb of data on at&t network seems like a decent deal, but they seem pretty similar to H20, who offers 2gb of data for the same price but throttles you after 500mb. Just curious cause I can't seem to find too many reviews of them on the web.

im on straight talk at&t now, this is my first month... i got throttled halfway into the month and im positive i havent even used 1gb yet.
im jumping ship on them as soon as my month is up. I came from T-Mobile prepaid and I don't wanna deal with this petty a** throttle stuff. all I need is 2gb a month, I never go over that and I don't really stream or tether. really wanna keep the at&t coverage though, after using it for the past 2 weeks I've realized its waaaaaaaay better than tmo in my area

Seems just exactly like H2O Wireless if you ask me, i'm using them now. ....
LOL - Actually if you look at the bottom you'll see it's from Locus Telecom anyways which is the owner of H2O and others. America Movil (Tracfone, Straight Talk and Net10) is the other big one but i hear they are wanting to buy Locus or maybe just the H2O portion.
So this is just a copy of their other offerings with a different name to do extra revenue stream I guess. People might have a bad deal with H2O so they switch to Black Wireless LOL only to still be with the same company.
I'll save $15 and stick with ST.

not yet, I opened a ticket on their fb page the other day but it didn't fix anything. and I don't update or download stuff on data I have WiFi at home. I've been on the 2gb plan from tmo for a while before this so I'm pretty mindful of data usage, on a regular month I'm between 1.5-1.7gb.

Dunno I'm on the st Tom plan right now and have bumped up against the 2gb "cap" a number of times with no throttling but I've gone back and forth (between Tom and AT&T) since getting st so I hope st isn't going to start throttling at 1gb.
I just got my N4 today. Don't know if it has been mentioned here before, I put my GoPhone $50 unlimited sim (dumb phone plan) in, data and calls worked fine. Been using for a few months with a Note2 N7100 and had no issues with throttling. No telling how long before ATT starts blocking it. My Note N7000 was blocked form the first day. I'm currently testing the TMobile $30 dollar plan to see if their coverage works for me.

still working fine? I'm looking for some alternatives but the mvno's are kinda iffy with the data ambiguity
Black Wireless
I bought a sim card two Saturdays ago. I only got it on the following Friday, pretty slow shipping.
Activation was painless, it worked fine. I have not tried data yet. I was excited about the international calling. But they are a lot more expensive than what they claim. For example, they said I have 19 minutes to call cell phones in Argentina, well, I dialed a cell phone number and I got a message saying I only had credit to talk for 5 minutes! So, I hung up, didn't make the call since it was four times more expensive than what they claim. Same when I call to landlines, I was supposed to have like 10 hours, the first time I call it said I had like 6 hours left, I talked for about 4 minutes. The next day I make another call to Argentina and it said I had about 4 and a half hours, and this call was about 6 minutes. Next I make another call and I get the message that I have 3 and a half hours to talk. So for each call they are charging me like a whole hour! It is definetly not what they are advertising. If there is a connection charge, they don't state it anywhere I could find it.
I sent a support e-mail two days ago and have yet to hear back.
So, I would not recommend this service to anybody.
For those with slow speeds on ST att, they have a new apn.
make sure you are using the new apn tfdata.
I have used over 4gb and still cranking 6mb down 3 mb up.

Is there a way to check your data usage with ST besides tracking it with your phone? I have been flashing different things on my N4 so that in not accurate.
1. I used 11215 and got $5 off with free shipping.
2. Paid for 1 month and got second month free.
3. Decent customer rep.
4. They include free International direct dial minutes. Around 300 minutes in $30 plan and so forth.
5. Got my SIM in 3 days.
6. Porting took 5 hours.

Unlimited Data

Anyone else running into the data plan change problem? I have a Grandfathered Unlimited data plan, however when ordering the new phone I was forced to select a plan most similar to the one I have due to LTE 4G. Well it did say Premier Personal Unlimited Data so I selected it. I called twice and talked to AT&T reps before fully checking out online for the pre-order. I just now actually activated the phone and the rep said he did not have the clearance to put me back on the Unlimited plan so I would have to wait up to 10 days, though he said it usually only takes a couple days. He opened a case and wrote notes. The case supposedly will be escalated to the next tier of support to get my Unlimited back. For now I got stuck on 3GB. Anyone else run into this?
My understanding is if you wanna keep unlimited then you wouldn't be able to access the LTE side.

Not true at all. You can get lte unlimited. I have it. But they will cap you 5gb I think. I do have lte where I live so I would know. Granted I buy my phones outright so I don't deal with plans and all that bs. I know best buy can keep your current plan and pretty sure att.com does it to. If you were forced I would have canceled the order personally. Call att. If you did already select a new plan it can not be undone.

Ya when I got my SGS3 I kept my unlimited data. It was nice since it raised from Unlimited Data plans to where I am throttled at 5Gb rather than the 3Gb for my SGS2. Plus when I got throttled for the 5Gb I just had to change my APN to the huspa+ APN and get another 3Gb unthrottled. I am sure it will be the same here.
OP and future people what I have ALWAYS done is while I am at Walmart/Radio Shack and upgrading my phone I would call ATT during it to MAKE SURE my data plan wasn't changed in the first place. So far it has always worked for me this way.

So my AT&T plan is a good fit for me right now. I have DataPro 2GB (25$) and 1000 texts (10$). I get my Galaxy S4 in the mail and I go to activate it using some AT&T automated system online. When I do that my old phone deactivates and my new phone activates as expected. I give it some time to complete on the back end but after several hours I can make calls but I still can't text or use data.
I stop by AT&T on the way home and ask about what might have happened, they tell me that I have no data plan, and I have no texting plan. I explain the earlier events and that I was using this very data/text plan on my old phone earlier today. They tell me they can't do anything and suggest I call support. I go home and call support.
"Customer service" says no-can-do but offers me a 3GB plan for 30$ and unlimited text for 20$. This is 15$ more a month (obvious bull**** is obvious). I explain that this is unacceptable. When I chose to upgrade my phone I also chose (using their online pre-ordering form) to keep my existing rate plan. It explain that it even lists the two items on the new contract (which I had to dig around on their site to even find).
Finally after a lot of "customer service" bull**** where they fake empathy and try to just make you go away, I get transferred to the guys who get **** done...
Within two minutes the problem was fixed. Took me three hours wading through salesmen and customer service tards.
If there is some LTE limitation I'll upgrade to the 3GB plan, but as of right now it looks completely normal.

When I ordered the phone I clicked "keep current plan." When I set up the phone they took away the unlimited data. I just had to call and ask for it back.
This is my THIRD LTE device on the grandfathered unlimited data plan, it's not going anywhere as long as I keep paying for it! If someone "forces" you to choose, whether it is in store or online, then you need to find an alternative, and that usually means finding someone who knows what they're doing and not their first day out of training....
Just checked today, I am back on Unlimited Data! Woo hoo!

How bad is the data speed throttling on LTE? I know ATT is bad for throttling unlimited data but just wondering what the speeds drop down to on LTE these days.

Verizon Data Calculations not reset - Warning!

I purchased by Note 4 on the 4th of December and based upon my previous usage statistics, I chose a 2GB plan. (This is for a single line mind you). I took a trip to California for a couple of weeks and where I was, there was no Internet and no wifi, I was forced to use my 4GLTE the entire time. This required me to upgrade my data to 3GB on the fly and when I finally returned home on the 22nd, I had used 2.54GB data of 3GB.
On Jan 1 my bill cycle ended and my DATA USAGE should have been reset to 0/3GB. I left the house to run errands yesterday and while waiting for my car to get fixed, I decided that I would watch some youtube videos. I popped up the widget that verizon supplied and I seen that I was now at 2.58GB of data out of 3GB. I called Verizon 611 and the rep said that they were sure that it was reset and that I most likely left Facebook open and that ate up 2+GB of data in 2 days, seems legit! NOT. The rep then tells me that I need to disable Mobile Data if I am using Wifi because programs will still use it (Now I know this is the case with some applications and download boosters, but I do not have any of those installed). She then sent me over to technical support to see what is using up all the data.
The technical support rep answered and I was so upset that I was almost to tears. He was polite and said that he would help me figure out what happened and how to keep it from happening in the future. He did the calculations and he came back with 2.1GB at first then after checking my phones usage, it did not match up. He admitted that he miscalculated and what he was seeing was 2.1MB of usage and not 2.1GB. He opened a ticket and also switched me to the Loyalty plan, giving me 4GB of data for 2GB price, all in all I ended the call with a smile.
TLDR: Make sure your Data is getting reset each month. Double check your usage on your phone to make sure it matches Verizons usage. If not open a ticket with support and have them review/correct the miscalculation.
Hope this helps someone else.

To the OP, I am like Wizzle, my billing cycles on the 23rd but my data doesn't roll over till the 28th. The data should cycle around the day of the month that you actually started with Verizon.

no more. the only ones with it are us who refuse to upgrade and spend full retail on phones. I've been out of contract for years now.

Yep me too. What do I look like getting a bad ass phone and can't use it the way I like? Lol brand new phone and have to put it down when data limit reaches threshold lol I feel sorry for the people that upgraded. When you're out of town you're definitely going to use alot. Unlimited comes in handy during those times.

That's pretty strange, indeed! For me however, my data doesn't reset until like four or five days after the bill is paid. My billing and data cycles aren't on the same period, so I would definitely check on that and see if you're in that same boat, too!
Off topic but fwiw I hate Verizon! Had to get it because of a move(I had T-Mobile) and for the few months I've had them I've had nothing but problems. Crap speeds, paying out the ass for 20 measly gigs, had to pay full price for a DE Note 4 for root and an unlocked bootloader..my last run in with them was yesterday when I was approaching my data cap and I tried to up to 30gb...they tried to say they couldn't since I had video calling on my phone..which doesn't make sense since one I don't have video calling and two what would it matter if I did?!?! I'm so sick of them its nuts. Plus the employees in the store are the dumbest known to man. I told them if I get an overage I'm not paying it since I tried multiple times to up my data and they were no help and if they hit me with the charges I'd dump them for AT&T and use a T-Mobile phone...they didn't care nor do I think they even listened. AT&T gives double the data for the same price, T-Mobile & Sprint have Unlimited data..if anyone can switch from Verizon they should..to hell with it I'm starting a petition where I live for a tally of people that would gladly switch to T-Mobile if they would put up a damn tower for LTE.lol
I still have my unlimited data as well! The bad part is Verizon took away using other lines to update and just switch it over to your unlimited line. That really pissed me off. That's a bad move and says a lot on how they feel about us with unlimited data. They want to so badly force us out of it. But not going to budge! Between me and my wife we use 14gb a month. And that's without root now so no WiFi tether. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only 1 spending $700. On a phone once a year!

I'm sure we'll have unlimited data as well in the near future. Look at how we had a limit on minutes and texts. I remember when a had 500 min/MO. & 500 texts also. Weekends were free. Lol that was so 90s
