[Root] Official Chainfire CF-Auto-Root for SM-T700/SM-T800 Variants - Galaxy Tab S Android Development

Hey guys
I don't know, if someone also did the same thing, but I think this thread can be pretty useful . Since our device is official supported by great developer @Chainfire I would share the Auto-Root file with you, that you don't have to search for it
Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) Android 5.0 Lollipop is out! Watch here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/orig-development/official-lollipop-5-0-sm-g900f-t2962141

YOU WILL LOSE YOUR WARRANTY. KNOX WILL DISPLAY 1 INSTEAD OF 0!
It will install the Super SU app as a system app, trigger your knox and will successfully root your tablet
For those who aren't very familiar with rooting and things, you have to do these things:
1. Switch off and then boot your Galaxy Tab S in Download mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, home button and then press the Power key to boot the phone. Press the volume key again to confirm booting into the Download mode.
2. Now in Download mode, connect your Tab S to your computer with Odin running on PC. Odin will detect the device and show you one the ID:COM boxes turning blue.
3. In the Odin box, click on the PDA button, locate and select the .tar.md5 file that was extracted from rooting zip file downloaded earlier. Make sure Re-Partition checkbox is not selected. Click on the START button to initiate the installation.
4. Once the CF-Auto-Root is successfully flashed on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S, it will reboot automatically. While rebooting you will see a red Android bot which means you have successfully rooted your tablet.
If you want to have a video review of how to do it, just watch this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZqdKNya81g
It's for the S4, but it works all the same with our Tab S.
The official announcement from @Chainfire is here:
CF-Root is the root for "rooting beginners" and those who want to keep as close to stock as possible. CF-Root is meant to be used in combination with stock Samsung firmwares, and be the quickest and easiest way for your first root.
Donate
CF-Root has been available for many devices (Galaxy S1, S2, S3, S4, Galaxy Note, Note2, Note3, dozens of Tab models, etc!) and has clocked over 22.5 million downloads. This is not even counting custom ROMs that already include it. Don't be a leech, buy me a beer (and use the "Thanks" button!). Imagine if every CF-Root user has donated me $1...
What's installed
- SuperSU binary and APK
- Stock recovery
Installation and usage
Flash the CF-Auto-Root package as PDA in ODIN (details on how to do that are in next post), and your device should reboot into a modified recovery (signified by a large red Android logo) and it will install SuperSU for you and restore the stock recovery, and reboot back into Android.
If you don't get to the red Android logo, boot into recovery manually ("adb reboot recovery", or boot while holding Power+VolUp+Home).
Using this root increases your flash counter and trips the KNOX warranty flag!
Did you see the red Android logo during rooting, but SuperSU does not appear? This may sometimes occur due to left-over files and settings, however, you can usually install SuperSU from Google Play at this stage and it'll just work.

Yes. I was going to report back! The smt800 file is corrupted. Hopefully he will get it fixed!

The zip file for SM-T700 is also corrupt...

Yeah some files are corrupt. Can you just post the direct links to cfautoroot? The cfautoroot site works just fine as it doesn't need a mirror. Thanks!

Will fix that later!

Added all autorootsfile in one folder on mega!

Just checking if this works with the Sprint Tab S (SM-T807P)? Didnt see it listed.

There isn't even firmwares for the device. That's probably why it does have root yet or it could be the chipset.

Closing this thread in favor of the already running thread over in general.
Tkkg1994 - your post is genuinely appreciated, and admittedly is easier to read than the stickied thread. Perhaps so your work doesn't go to waste, offer to work with the OP of that thread to improve it overall? This is one of those things that doesn't really need more than one thread, and in that case, the original thread gets the nod. Either way, please keep up the good work.

thank you beans !!
Was in the process of unpacking the cache.img (already modified recovery.img) to see what needed to be done.
You and Chainfire saved us a lot of time and allows us the true freedom of our device.
Now, off to build my kernel
Worked like a charm.
FWIW: I had to hold down Power, Volume Down *and* Home to get to the Downloader.
Odin 3.09 can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557972
Interesting - rooting cause my Samsung App store to download all the apps I had available to me....everything worked great though! Time to clean up.
Worked great!

Thank you for your suggestion. I gave it a shot but unfortunately no joy. I made the change and then rebooted. I then checked the build.prop in order to verify that the change was still there and it was. I rebooted one more time to ensure that I had a definite clean boot. through all of those reboots it forgot the wifi network every time. So unfortunately that change did not fix the issue. I can't help but wonder if there was some kind of a bug when it reflashed the recovery. I may repeat the root process to see if that fixes it. I have now set that back to true. The setting in question was ro. Securestorage.Support
I don't know if it matters but this is the 32gb model.

I reran the Odin process and unfortunately the WiFi issue remained. Just FYI. I have not yet rooted my 8.4 tablet for fear it will do the same thing as I assume there is no way backwards to remove the issue once it is there. Rather would have to wait on a fix for it. Given someone posted here in the 8.4 thread with the issue as well I assume it is possible it would crop on there like it did on my 10.5. May just have to wait till you get a unit of your own

Galaxy Note 3 first time rooter
Hi everyone, newcomer here. Thanks for providing this community to help people out and thanks to Chainfire for making CF-Auto-Root.
I have a Galaxy Note 3, and I've never rooted before because I really like Touchwiz and the useful features it provides. I've read the main post for CF-Auto-Root, so I understand this is supposed to be the easiest root method that's supposed to retain stock Touchwiz and nothing more.
Before I take the plunge, I just wanted to clarify my understanding to make sure I really do want to go ahead with rooting my Note.
1. When you say CF auto root is rooting my phone, does that mean it's just achieving a "state of being" with the phone, and not really installing or modifying anything else with Touchwiz (besides SuperSU)? As in, everything is the same as before, Touchwiz is the same as before, and the only thing different is that I've gained permission to access more things in the software?
2. My understanding is that I shouldn't lose any data, apps, home screen app layouts, etc?
3. Will I lose any functionality in Touchwiz? Like S-Pen features, Samsung apps, etc?
4. If I receive an update to 4.4.4 or 5.0, will I lose this cf-auto-root state?
Thanks everyone for helping out!

CF-Auto-Root flashes custom recovery, which installs the su binary and SuperSU application and then sets back the default stock recovery. Everything else remains unchanged, including TouchWiz.

Most likely, though there is a chance, that su binary will not be removed, in that case you keep the root.

I'm trying to root using the CF auto root thread instructions here

Hello everyone I am new to rooting phones and I was looking into CF-Auto Root since it is said to be beginner friendly. I was wondering if using this method would wipe my phone of everything I had on it or would it just give me root access while leaving everything else on the phone the same.

I know XDA is a reputable site, so I don't have to worry as much, but I know that theoretically speaking, downloading things outside of the official Android app store poses a risk for being malware or spyware.
So I'm only asking this in the spirit of just practicing utmost caution, how would I know that the CF-Auto-Root file, which can be found through the link below, is genuine and untampered with?

@JerryIsaMaster Hey, exactly what have you done here.. As far as I know, just flash the UniKernel and you get root access. What else did you add to this, pls tell me. And you are sharing g.lewarne's file only (in fact newer version 0003 is available now)... sure, you have continued to write a guide on how to get TWRP. Is that what you added? Or is it TWRP's own app that installs, what else, TWRP recovery once you select the right device and give root permissions to it. Don't take me wrong, I am just wondering for past 15 mins what new you are bringing here in regard to root access.

Exactly, that's why I changed it. It's compatable with any device that is compatable with that Kernel. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...d-development/kernel-stockmod-kernel-t3100395 technically this is compatable with Galaxy s6 Edge

I have used UniKernel on Galaxy S6 Edge, G925i, and it works flawlessly. Just one Odin flash and you have root. Bingo!

I just put it in one place, I've seen other tutorials and they never work, this works (with a recovery)
I decided to be the crazy one and try it on the Sprint version (G920P) - it works and roots, but the touchscreen doesn't work anymore.
HELP
I flashed thius file, on my Sprint S6, now when it reboots, it is red up top and finally boots up. However it says no sim, and I cannot press any buttons or change anything.
I tried to ODIN back to stock and it fails before it can flash anything
What sugguestions do any of you have? Please

If you need it working immediately, you'll need to take it to the Sprint store. I only flashed it because I have a spare phone to use while I mess around with it.

Galaxy S5 NEO SM-G903F user thread.

Hi All!
I didn't see any thread yet for this phone, the Samsung Galaxy s5 NEO (SM-G903F).
Here you can share your experience and tips and tricks.
Unfortunately I didn't see any root for this phone, as well the custom roms aren't there.
So if you have a trick to root it, let it know in this topic!
I have this phone since last Saturday, till now I'm happy with the phone. I installed nova laucher on it, because it works better.
Can't wait to install a custom rom on it, with stock android.
Is this maybe something that can help? Also a Exynos processor.

I need root for the same reason indeed, let's hope there will be a method soon.
Any idea where we can request it?

Someone posted request on Chainfire`s SuperSU thread, maybe he will notice
Step 1. Go into settings and enable installation of apps from unknown sources(settings>security>tick unknown sources)
Step 2. Go to https://towelroot.com/ and tap the brown lambda symbol to download towelroot app
Step 3. After download completes open the file, the android package installer will appear, press install
Step 4. Open the Towelroot app and press the "make it ra1n" button
Step 5. Enjoy your rooted S5
Last time I checked towelroot didn't do the S5 Neo... has this changed?
--EDIT-- Checked... it still does NOT support the S5 Neo.

Can someone confirm this? I don't own the phone so I can't try it myself.
Towelroot won't work for 2 reasons: its made for Snapdragon CPUs and it was only could be used on older versions of Android (KitKat).
Hmmm... Still need to look for another sollution than

hopefully we will get a alternative rom and root soon!
I've checked last week towel root and I confirm too that it does not work. Later I'm going to post here 2 pages that show how to root it but 1 one of them at least, I think is something like a fake because I don't trust pages requiring to complete surveys for files downloads...
The other one shows other methods but I tried some of them without success....
Maybe someone can do it.
By now my new s5 neo continue waiting for a root working method....
I've too much apps that need root access like titanium backup or xposed for example, and without all of them, my I9100 with resurrection remix last rom is by y now still being a better useful phone than s5 neo
See u

Hi again, here are the two pages that I talk about in the prev post:
The first one, I really don't advise to do that. But maybe you check it and it runs...
Here is it:

Sent from my GT-I9100
The next one is the one with different methods but I repeat, I've tried some of then and no one have reached root access... Here is it:
http://rooter15.blogspot.de/2015/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s5-neo.html?m=1
If you want try it and tell me something maybe you make what I couldn't!
Best regards
Bye again

I was on these sites as well, they're look kinda shady. Because you have several sites with different names, but the same lay-outs.
I don't trust these sites.
Maybe it's an idea to spam Chainfire's his topic? Because someone already asked to make a root for the s5 NEO in there.

DO NOT - repeat - DO NOT go on that survey site publishing an alleged S5 Neo root: it is a scammer.
I already confronted him directly, he also posted a video where he shows that he can download the APK file after submitting a couple of surveys but it is fake.
He's the only one claiming to have a rooting method (isn't it strange? and so soon?) and when confronted directly about his peculiar way of allowing download he hides away... DO NOT trust that, he has NO ROOT whatsoever, just a bunch of ads to make easy money.

Do not try the second one either have read of some people that allready tried all of them (on the site itself 3 people allready say it ain't working..) but didn't work! And there are only 2 reasonable options 1 is king root and the second is idd chainfire. But the second one i don't think we should spam his topic just like the post where the one guy is asking about it!

If you try the newest version it will say that there is no means to root. And you can request for them to research it like i believe 30 have done this according to the app. The more people who do this the more they'll think people actually want this.
