[Q] [Q&A]Asus Zenfone 6 - software version change problem - Asus Zenfone 6 Questions & Answers

hello all and thank you in advance for any tips I am clueless now:
I bought my Zenfone 6 in Singapure - it was shipped to me with weird version of software.
Any of system versions mentioned on Asus website or this forums does not match with mine.
This version of software is just awful:
1)pop-up about programs try to read contact book appear like very 5 minutes (even when the box is tick to never show this again it happens again)
2)i cannot download any android update even when I dont have newest version of the soft installed (I have 4.3 and cannot get rid of it).
3) my andorid is installing apps all by itself! (mobo market, weird games etc)
version displayed in system info:
ASUS_T00G_WW_user
9.17.40.19_20190825_7264
release keys
010175_201901130121
Update method with putting new files into phone directory then unplugging does not work at all on my phone.
When I try to sideload not even the single version of soft is compatible with mine.
I found update tool but it requires soft file to load but I did not find any in RAW format.
Droidboot: IFWI version: 63,23
Droidboot version: 21 build may 16 2014
product CN_A600CG
Can anyone help me to update this?
I am not very Android savvy. I tried to find solution on the forums but nothing works for this one.
I lost all the hope for smooth working phone.

bump - any help?

A7 Internet Tablet
Firmware Update
To determine the firmware version currently installed on your tablet, go to Settings > About device and scroll to the bottom to see Build number. The last 5 digits of the Build number indicate your current firmware version.
The February 4, 2011 Firmware Update addresses issues with micro card formatting and capacity and offers improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Firmware Update for your A7 Internet Tablet must be downloaded to your PC or Mac and copied to a MicroSD card for installation.
IMPORTANT: A MicroSD card is required to update the firmware. The USB port is a host only and cannot be used for firmware updates.
Note: Since the files stored in the Tablet may be deleted or overwritten during the update process (including the pre-installed movie trailers), please copy any files which you have stored in the Tablet before updating.
Please follow these directions carefully for a successful update:

Download the Firmware Update ZIP file at the bottom of this page to your PC or Mac.
Copy the ZIP file from your PC or Mac to a MicroSD card. The file must be copied to the ROOT DIRECTORY of the MicroSD card. Make sure you do not copy the file into a subfolder.

Ok, who is going to see what happens when this is applied to their A7 that has Dexter's Mod 1.1 on it? I'm too scared. I've just about got mine working ok. I just need to get the newer version of the Market, Calendar fixed, and Bluetooth PAN tethering via Blackberry working. I didn't expect such a learning curve on this device.
Im about to try it will keep you posted!
Boot Loop
My unit arrived this morning.
I put the Feb 4 OEM update on first then applied dexter's mod and ended up in a boot loop.
I was not sure how to get out of the loop so I tried a couple shut downs to no avail.
So I reset and ran the Feb 4 update again.
I have a lot more icons than to shipped version, but I do not think I have the google apps market place.
I am very new to android so I'm a bit in the dark.
Is there a way to get out of the boot loop?
Thanks
Ekk! Boot Loop!
Did you guys wipe Data/Cach?
I'm updating through recovery mode. I'll update everyone shortly...
FANCY "eLocity" boot screen! No loop here.
Sweet! Shows My 8gb card at 7.38 Empty space!
For the people in the boot loop try powering down your device and powering it back on.
The A7 No longer force closes when you select the Brightness tab!
Just did that it worked great! I can see my sd card woot! No market
I did the data wipe and every seems to work.
Thanks for reading.
Don't forget to wipe Data/Cach. Thats almost always the issue!
Does it have Market or any or the Dexter mods
Does it have Market?

No, The fireware downloaded from the Elocitynow.com website does NOT come with Market.
New firmware
Will Dexter be modding this one for us?
I would hope so!
I would love if Elocity or Dexter would tackle the App2SD problem
no Market
Sorry. Just niticed no market in an earlier reply. Let's hope Dexter can mod this to re-add market, etc. Thks

Mine is working fine after update.
Update is same size as the last file?
R
Seems to boot much quicker. Also works with manually installing .apk apps
Notice any improvement in wifi?
I can't really say I notice anything but it was running good out of the box for me.
I think boot up may be slightly improved.
I do notice more verbose initial boot up screen which reminds me of linux a while back!
So far no data or applications were lost but version number has changed.
A smooth upgrade
Although the file size was identicle to the previous release the version is different yet the same.

Avin Avant 2 - Android 4.1.1 [Currently No Root]

I'm trying to get root on the Avin Avant 2, but unfortunately i've been unsuccessfull despite extensive reading of this fine website. The Specs for the device are as follows:
Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean)
Dual Core 1.7Ghz CPU ARMv71
Mali-400MP GPU
Hardware Device Type "Cedric"
My model is the universal unit from avinusa (site down at the time of posting) . Factory options can be accessed with Code "0000" and i've enabled developer options. Allow Unknown Sources is enabled so i can load whatever APK i need via the inernet or flash drive
Things i've tried to get root:
Framaroot, KingRoot, TowelRoot and numerous other Rooting APK Tools - All Failed
RootMyAN21U - Won't install, probably due to signing
Attempting a USB connection - Won't work, i suspect the client mode connection is on the motherboard somewhere.
The unit appears to be vulnerable to all three MasterKey exploits and i've seen other units successfully rooted, so i think it's definitely possible. i've extracted the Settings, SettingsProvider and framework-res Apk's from the device as i've seen these being used as signing sources on other threads.
If someone could rework somthing like RootMyAN21U for me to try with the files i have provided, that would be great! I am open to any other sugestions (or detailed tutorials so i can help myself). A donation is available to whoever provides the solution!
APK'S From Device https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B89NZzCjXoSbWTVwLWVDR0xYU0U
Also, Merry XMAS
it has already root...
For owners of the AVIN Avant-2 unit there is a new software update available. Email tommy for the download link and password.
Software update for the BMW AVIN Avant-2 Update 09-09-2015
Change log:
1. Added ROOT access and SUPERUSER
2. Added EasyConnect app for Mirrorlink support for Android 5.0 phones and AirPlay support without the need of the AirPin app.
3. Removed a lot of apps from the pre_install_apps.zip file making the update process a lot faster. The removed apps are now placed in the optional_app.zip file in the link below.
You can add or remove your choice of app from the pre_install_apps.zip before running the update.
4. Increased userdata partition to 1524MB
And so on...
I not understand

I've emailed support but no reply as of yet. Is this patch uploaded somewhere?

Do you have a BMW E46?
If so, you got to take a look on the E46fanatics, just google it, there is a huge thread about your device.
Hi All!
I have the same unit in my car.
But the system is laggy and worst of all I'm having a huge BT-echo at the other side of the line which makes it impossible to have a decent call.
Also android 4.1.1 isn't really supported by the newest app-updates like iCoyote.
Smaller problems:
- System does recognize my iPod but it won't play any music from it
- The radio app shuts down every 10-ish minutes of use
- The status bar on top isn't useful at all and only uses up screenspace that i'd rather use for navigation like Waze.
Conclusion:
It "works" but that's about it.
Question:
Would it be possible to install a more recent version of android which uses the hardware more efficiently and makes the system more stable while keeping the most important functions (obviously).
I've contacted Avin Europe (as I live in Belgium) and Tommy from AvinUSA about this problem but sadly they didn't offer a solution. Even worse, they didn't even reply to me since the end of March.

Need help on Android TV- Firmware Update issue

Hi everyone,
I've already asked my question on dedicate Android TV/Sony forum but my question concerned also Android TV system in general so I take chance..
I have KD-43X8305C (EU_FR model) and my stock firmware version is 2287.
I tried to update my device on line but I have message with a 2123 error (Server unvalaible).
then I tried downloading the last firmware PKG (3.317) from sony website and forced it via USB (with different stick).
it says "updating", tried copied file on TV but the tv restart just after and restart many time (with bootlogo... Android update) but the version still the same.
Is it possible to find a log file in android TV wich can explain that issue, I'm not specialist with Linux/Android TV but I think that the system could not find any free memory space to save the pkg file or don't have permission to save in the correct file. .
Thanks for your help.
Regards

Xtrons TR771L (Allwinner T8) updates (was: Xtrons TR771L Radio app freezing)

I had this unit for some 2, 3 weeks now, and while it worked great initially, all of a sudden the radio app started acting up.
It starts with some garbage displayed (e.g. 'jV!fxcj') instead of radio station name, and it is not responsive at all. If I manage to get to home screen or to anywhere else, it will just pop back up to the front, and it keeps happening constantly, Sometimes, after doing who knows what, I manage to kill it, and I can use the rest of the head unit, but that happens rarely. I also tried going to the settings -> apps, and killing the app from there, but it doesn't help.
I hard reset the unit, and the radio worked fine for about five minutes, and then it started happening again. Is there a way to at least disable the Radio app somehow, so the unit is usable in some capacity?
I have exactly the same issue on my TR771L. I got an MCU update link to load onto an SD card but haven't been able to get it to install on the unit.
The looping is really annoying especially at night.
EDIT:
Android version 8.1.0
MCU version T8.3.19-36-10-E53201-180726
System version V9.3.1_2018082.102205_MLT5
I had that problem too and did an firmware update and it seems to be ok now
This might be a stupid question, but where do you get the firmware update from? Is there a custom ROM to be installed on it as well?
I was always confused by many similar but different headunits, and was never sure if something would work on mine or not. Is it PX5? Is it MTCE? Is it none of these? Sigh.
On a positive note, it seems to work better now. I uninstalled the automate car dashboard and know it happens rarely if ever, and even when it does, a hard reset with a pen solves it.
Well, I contacted xtrons with a request for the update file, and they provided a link - https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjrY0uqbW_kBk36dRnJD4d_aaej8
This is a system update file, and after I went through the versions I have are:
Android version 8.1.0
MCU version T8.3.19-36-10-E53201-180502
System version V9.3.1_20181012.103419_MLT5

You need to extract the files from the RAR file, put them on the SD card or USB, connect it to the head unit, go to Settings -> Car settings and then scroll down and choose MCU update or System update. Depending on the file you got, it should detect the update files and ask you if you want to reset the sd card/usb (I choose no just to be safe) and it took a bit of time to update, and the start loading animation (xtrons) took a bit more time than usual, so don't worry about it.

Need Android 10 Model: px5 MTCU_HT Custom Firmware

Hey there
My Head Unit is no longer saving the last used memory and the radio just stopped working this week.
I am looking for custom firmware to try and hopefully get my unit working properly.
I have searched online and with not a lot of luck. I found someone with custom Firmware on Youtube
but I have used his firmware on another unit a few years back and you can't turn off the auto screen saver option
so I would rather not use his firmware again.
Any Help?
My specs:
Pumpkin Android Radio
Model: px5 (1024 x 600)
Android Version: 10
Last security Update: 5. May 2020
Build NUmber: rk3368-userdebig 10
Kernel-Version: 4.19.111
MCU-Version: MTCU_HT_V3.71_1 Dec 19 2020
CPU: Octa-core Cortex-A53 @ 1.5G
Memory: 3937 MB
I hope someone can help
Thank you in advance.
The file I uploaded is the firmware update the seller sent to me.
Seller instructions:
Update methods:
Download the link on your computer--Don’t unzip the file update.zip. Copy this file " update.zip" to the USB root directory. Connect the USB stick to the USB port of the radio. If the radio detects the update immediately and wants to install it, click on Cancel.
Then open Settings> System> System Updates> tick the box > click Install.
I installed it all Okay. Still have the same problems.
I also found this firmware
Hal9k_Mod_5.0_MTCx_HCTx_PX5_eng.rar
From
And it also installed Okay. Looks very different (I don't really like it that much, far too bright) however I still have the same problems.
I am starting to think it's a hardware problem.
I will post back after trying something else.

You even did not tell anything about your issues you are facing. What do you mean with:
My Head Unit is no longer saving the last used memory and the radio just stopped working this week.

So really think about that and communicate correctly.
The same would be if you call your workshop that your car does something wrong and don´t tell them what happens.
Would you get any instructions? I think not.
So tell us the issues and then thee might be some answer possible.
@localos : I think just pushing links to any firmware version without having a bug report does not make any sense.
