Test
Hello.
I just settle the cm.-12. I'm testing it. and I've got no problem superuser. have to skip the 1st settings because you have no keyboard, you'll settings and activate and configure and arranged. I keep trying. -The Zoom cam remains. (As in CM-11) -Do not let me install anything because I advised that I have no space on any partition, is false, I have two gb in every hole, did you three wipes data / cache / davil -cache, and still have all the folders in the CM-11, so do not let me install anything, I'll format the card and make the wipes again.
-After Format and partition the sd I keep saying there is no space, internally or externally but recognizes both and the huge space there is both internal and external looks, not let me install apps, anyone know how to fix this?
My thanks to those who made this great work.

lte work !!

@kostoulhs Lollipop uses more storage because of the way ART operates.
As AnandTech explains in a post from July 1st:
"The big paradigm-shift that ART brings, is that instead of being a Just-in-Time (JIT) compiler, it now compiles application code Ahead-of-Time (AOT). The runtime goes from having to compile from bytecode to native code each time you run an application, to having it to do it only once, and any subsequent execution from that point forward is done from the existing compiled native code.
Of course, these native translations of the applications take up space, and this new methodology is something that has been made possible today only due to the vast increases in available storage space on today’s devices, a big shift from the early beginnings of Android devices."
Cheers

New Rom-Version
Hi,
is ist really necessary to install the new CWM and do we have to format the system?
I installed build 20141122 and have a huge battery drain. The settings show that the phone is always active. It is never in real Stand-By. In the CM 11 - Version for the I-8730 there was also a build that had this huge battery drain.
Am I the only one, who has it? I installed it correctly.
Thanks,
yFalcon

Low Storage possible fix
Hi @kostoulhs In reply to this message "I am trying to figure out why, all this weird thing with low storage happes, but only assumptions for now, any ideas?
Does this happen to everybody? "
I am on build 21/11/14 and I DID have the low storage message appear until I restored a backup of my apps using 'Helium' and rebooted, and since then i have not had this issue

Also, it would be great if you could try and add a screenshot function

Also, I am not a Dev but this may help others answer this fully
But what version are you using? 21/11/14 or 22/11/14 <--- this one has many known bugs

With that baseband i obtain no sound with the cm 12 rom AND with the stock samsung rom.
The Nandroid backup doesen't restore my old baseband... what i have to do to restore it?
EDIT: I've restored my phone by downloading the stock firmware and flash it with odin 3.09

Other bug (i don't know if happens only to me): The music doesn't play using ani player (google music or Apollo) but if i try to play a music from SoundHound, it works properly

[Q] CM-6.1.0-RC1 ----> CM-7.0.0-RC1 ~ Upgrade Steps

Hi all,
This is probably a pretty basic question for you, so please bear with me, and if it is basic, hopefully there is a straightforward answer .
Having settled on the awesome CM-6.1.0-RC1, I haven't looked to change ROM.
However, with CM-7.0.0-RC1 being released, its time to upgrade .
Can anyone please explain the steps needed to follow in order to go from CM-6.1.0-RC1 to CM-7.0.0-RC1 please?
I appreciate there is a lot of info in ali ba's dev thread [ [ROM] CyanogenMod experimental builds] however, there is approx 235 pages there, and the OP is a little lite.
Would it be possible to have guide here, as I presume many people will be wanting to follow the same upgrade path.
I am wondering how we can 'save' apps, [i.e. Angry Birds status, web browser installation, general settings/config,] during the upgrade... because I am guessing a full wipe is required and therefore a Nandroid backup won't really help...or will it?
Anyone that can help?
I'm also running CM6.1 rooted and I've tried upgrading by downloading Rom manager and then booting into recovery, doing a factory reset/wipe data/wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache - and then flashing the CM7 RC1 zip but I get a boot loop every time.
I've tried removing the SD card and Sim card but same error appears.
Actually it's weird because I've been getting a boot loop with every firmware I've tried to flash except for CM6.1.
Luckily I did a Nandroid backup...

First question should be:
Do we need to wipe when upgrading from CM6.1?
If we need wipe, I suggest you to:
- do a nandroid backup
- backup all apps with titanium backup
- wipe + flash 7.0 RC1
- download and install gapps
- restore apps with titanium backup
If no wipe required:
- do a nandroid backup
- flash 7.0 RC1
Question: does UOT kitchen (for circle mod battery) works with 7.0?

Issues?
Experience issues? Please provide the following info:
If the device was hard reboot, please provide the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
If the device was soft reboot or is "bootlooping", please run a logcat and provide the full ourput.
Please use Pastebin when possible

Yep, true.
Anyone?
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 7?
* Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
* Flash CyanogenMod (your Google Apps will be backed up & restored automatically)

So no, you do not need to wipe before upgrading,
The backup is just for security reasons. You never know what could go wrong, so it's good to have a backup in place.
Just flash the new CM 7 and you should be good to go.
^ Mastacheata - thats if you're upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 7
That question we are asking here is what if you're upgrading from CM6.1.
Oh I'm sorry, I misread that the whole time.
Gonna try it now and report back in a few minutes.
I've not gone 6.1 -> 7rc directly, but I did go from 6.1 to a 7 nightly build a couple weeks ago without wiping and I don't seem to have any problems (except GPS not working).
I'm thinking I may just do a full on Titanium backup, full wipe, then go for CM7.0RC1.

GPS not working in CM7.0 RC1 ??
Do we even have a list of things not working in CM7.0RC1? Again, the OP in the dev thread is a little lite with respect to 'known issue' and similar.
My test was unsuccessful.
I was neither able to install directly over 6.1 nor with prior wipe.
My phone would always end up in a boot loop.
Logcat did tell some Exceptions for unknown permissions.
Detailed explanation will follow in the developer thread.
i accidentally flashed cm7 build 0 over cm6.1 stable before. was able to boot but my phone was laggy & some features were broken, as far as i can remember. so i guess the best path is:
TI backup
complete wipe
flash cm7
TI restore
cliche by now, i know. but it never fails...
As we start the RC phase of CM7, many of you are now taking the leap from CM6 stable to the new RC's.
Some of you may be able to get away with doing this without a wipe; however, most of you will not be that lucky.
Differences in the rom, files system, and even Google Addons will likely throw most of you into boot loops.
Therefore, here is my recommended upgrade path:
1) Nandroid backup your current rom
2) Update your recovery to the latest available (CWR is my choice)
3) Format system via recovery
4) Wipe/Factory reset
5) Flash CM7 then Google addon 1/20
If any of you have data that you must absolutely save, then and only then should you use Titanium backup (or other backup apps) to restore your data. Please be sure not to restore any data to /system using these apps, as this will mostly likely corrupt your ROM and/or Market.

[HELP] Hi not sure where to post really..

Hello there, Not sure where to post and most rules here state to post in the general forum, so here I am
I currently have the following:
Model Number: GT-I9505 Samsung Galaxy S4 (GSM)
Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband: I9505XXUAMDM
Kernel: 3.40-526204
Build: JDQ39.I9505XXUAMDM
The device is now rooted thanks to the following guide: http://androidjinn.com/root-xxuamdm-android-4-2-2-on-galaxy-s4-i9505-official-firmware.html/2
Rooted using Odin and the CF-Autoroot or so that guide says.
Now down to what I need help with, I want to play with a few different roms however before I do anything, I want to backup my phones current Rom on the off chance I mess it up I presume this would prevent a majority of bricks?
What advice can you give? Just wanna make sure I have a safe point before I do any more to the device.
YES I DID SEARCH, It didn't help so if you're a stuck up arsehole who wants to moan that I haven't searched, Please don't post.
Thanks for the help guys!
You need to install a custom recovery. Search for recovery and your model number.

Thankyou for your reply, Can you reccomend a specific one based on expirence? My friends uses clockwork on his S2 with Cyanogen, I ideally want to head towards that as there is a version for the S4 as far as I'm aware but not the foggiest on where to start. Will look up Clockwork for my model number now tho, thanks.
Kind Regards,
Phil
I use Philz Touch (search on here) then go to the backup and restore settings and choose what you want from there. Whatever you do, backup to the external SDcard and if possible Copy the backup to an external source. Just in case. .......

I would suggest to download Rom manager from the playstore. With this APP you can install CWM. It is the best recovery IMO. Hope that helps you

So I went ahead and ****ed my device up
I can still boot into CWM and have attempted to use my recovery I made however this just makes the phone get to the boot logo and then freezes.
If I do a factory reset and wipe cache etc the phone just show the battery charging logo, gonna leave it on charge over night and see if it was maybe a battery issues.
Either way can anyone give me any idea on how I can get my phone back into working order
Thanks

Is that guide appplicable to me?
Also should I do the entier process, or attempt this method first for the boot loop I seem to have gotten myself stuck in:
Bootloop troubleshooting: Bootloop occurs when a smartphone is not able to boot properly and stuck on Bootanimation and mainly caused by system files interfering with each others which cause instability and/or crash at the boot sequence. How to fix:
- Boot the device either into stock or custom recovery mode, wipe cache then reboot, if still, boot again in recovery and wipe data/factory reset then reboot. If not:
- Restore a nandroid backup with custom recovery if present. If not:
- Flash or reflash the official stock firmware. If not:
- Flash stock firmware with the appropriate pit file, after "pass", unplug usb cable, pull battery out for a minute, insert it, boot into recovery, wipe data and cache, reboot.
Thanks
Also does any know where I can the offical firmware for my model?
Cheers

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477&highlight=stock+firmware
then after that rooting it again?
Will it then be all back to normal?
Will doing that remove CWM?
Thanks
Please can an admin Move this to the Q & A section.
Thanks
I'v decided to follow the guide for restoring the phone to standard! I have followed the steps listed on the tutorial, however when I get to step I can't find home.tar all that is inside the zip file is this:
I9505XXUAMDM_I9505OXXAMDB_I9505XXUAMDM_HOME.tar.md5
SS_DL.DLL
Do I just select the I9505XXUAMDM_I9505OXXAMDB_I9505XXUAMDM_HOME.tar.md5 in odin under the PDA button?
Just want to double check incase I cause any damage to the phone!
Thanks guys
Correct.
Thankyou for the reply, I shall flash this bad boy when I get home!
Once she has been flashed to basics should I then use the CF auto root followed by installing philz recovery?
Or will CWM still be on the device?
Sorry for the noobish questions, Years of rocking IOS have not tought me well.
You'll lose CWM. I went the CFRoot--->>>PhilZ route when I got my I9505 a couple of weeks ago, there are other options here, so it's up to you how you proceed.

To help you with this as I got no help on here sadly and had to fix it myself.
I ended up installing HK CN MOD ROM V1 by FeiYu over at LG G2 forums which is a superb Rom, best thing I ever did as it has improved my data signal dramatically and removed the Korean Text from the phone dial pad. It is a 320K based ROM so it also enabled me to install Clockwork Mod Touch with full access to my external sd card. To re root I used Kingo Root which is a simple one touch program. Just enable Debugging before using.
Here are the two relevant links to help.

CWM Recovery Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468858
I used the alternative install method using terminal emulator then typed SU and entered relevant code and it worked first time.
I now have a fast, rooted and recovery working LG G2 and life is good

Hello and good day, I'm new in this forum and to installing custom roms. I've encountered some force closing in toolbox when I tried putting a different app in it. After selecting the desired app and clicking save, I cannot edit the toolbox anymore. Please help . Thanks in advance.
Do you want to disable toast altogether? @Shepherd? You can alter these via xposed modules, can't for the life of me remember which one, I know xui mod allows you to change them but I don't know about removing then completely. Try and see.

A custom rom is usually flashed via either the internal or external memories, I prefer the external as you have the flexibility to remove it and copy another over if your phone is in a non bootable state.
Once you're rooted and have a custom recovery installed all you need to do is copy it over and flash it, no need for odin at that point, unless you want to flash a modem or bootloader.
Perhaps when android 5 comes along we'll be updating both the modem and bootloader but until that time you're just fine with what you have, a super wipe bare in mind will wipe everything, no OS left at all, so keep your ROM on your SD Card so you can flash it later.
Only reason you would need a super or mega wipe is if theres parts of your OS that have become undeletable or corrupt.
I wouldn't bother, just clean up your SD card (Internal) whilst connected to your PC and then perform a full wipe from within recovery and cache and dalvic, then flash a rom.
But if things are functional you don't even need to do that.

What state is your phone currently in?
IF it's stock then you will need to follow the instructions which are on the Foxhound main thread, I believe it's copied from another thread, NeatRom, if you follow it correctly your warranty will remain intact.
IF you're already rooted and have a custom recovery installed then simply copy the rom to your SD and flash it via recovery, you may need a separate kernel in order for the phone to boot properly. So grab that before wiping.
Always make a back up so you can revert back if things go wrong.

Thank you sir for the response. I was wondering if making the phone's internal a full wipe by using a script or something could really wipe everything inside the phones internal memory. As i've read here in the forums, The said script would wipe the whole internal memory therefore creating a lesser compatibility issue custom ROM after flashing. As I've stated earlier, I really wanted Phoenix ROM due to it's flavor and features. Though NeatROM is quite good itself( I'm not a developer ). For now, Phoenix ROM is okay after experiencing a bug with the ToolBox , then again i was able to remove the issue by doing a factory reset and the ToolBox feature was okay. So far so good as i can say proudly. Thank for the excellent instructions. Good day.

Click thanks if someone helps u bro.
No problem by the way, I only suggested neat rom as it has good guidance.
If you're already on Foxhound (phoenix) then in my opinion you have the best of the bunch, just wait for raffa to update it, the next rom will bring a good few changes and a lot of fixes.
Personally i find this version to be more than ok v1.1

I rooted my Galaxy S5 and voided my warranty but this ROM made me feel that the warranty void was worth it !
One problem that I found is Wanam Xposed doesn't seems to be working like I choose the features I wanted and rebooted but nothing happened ...
I don't know if I am doing it properly or not ....
One more thing, you should add that double tap screen on gesture from HTC One M8 in your next updates. It will be wonderful .....

If I'm flashing from an All F2Fs Ext4 rom, are there any special preparations I need to perform to ensure I don't brick? I would like to flash it but I want to ensure that there are few caveats first. Thanks.

Make sure you change the partitions filesystem in TWRP to ext3 or it will not work!

Exactly - if coming from All-F2FS in recovery put cache and data back to ext4 otherwise when you boot it will think your tablet is encrypted and ask for a password!
Thanks for the ROM. However a tilapia(3g) version would be greatly appreciated!

Known incompatible for now. Rest assured it'll be fixed by the ota ?
For those of you still having issues -- make absolutely sure that you've wiped And repaired the cache, data, and system partitions, under TWRP's advanced menu (you have to select each 1 at at time). It takes like 1-2 secs per partition. Without the repair option, you're gonna be stuck on the Google logo forvever.
THEN restart once repaired wiped repaired, and flashed, and don't bother to let TWRP install SuperSU, as the ROM already has it.

@nickmv is that if you're coming from a f2fs Rom or for everyone?

Latest GApps newly linked in OP has a working Google+
There is broken "Ok Google" hotword as well as voice search. It just won't listen to me
First off let me say this is awesome and really breathed new life into my old N7! Secondly I used the Tap & Go setup method from an GPE One M8 and it didn't really work all the way but whatever.
The issue is there is now an undismissable notification on my M8 saying setup completed. Any ideas how to get rid of this?
Oh and also has Face Unlock ever been present on the Nexus? Wanted to try it out but wasn't listed as an option. Thanks a ton!

Hi
I have supersu installed but titanium backup doesn't recognise the device is rooted! Any ideas? Other root apps work on android 5 but this one doesn't.
I cannot log into play store since upgrading to lollipop. How can I fix this?

Successfully installed via multirom, however play store crashes when opened.

Try this beta one:

When installing the GApps package I get this error: E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/data/media/0/sideload.zip'
I originally got a different one but I remembered I was on the "buggy" 2.7.1.1 version so I updated to latest 2.8.1.1 version and well...this. I've wiped my data/cache/system/all of it and repaired the data n cache and then did this all and still a no go. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something? The only issue I noticed listed for this was the recovery I used.

So issue is just with the GApps zip file? Try flashing the ROM then rebooting recovery I had read in my main thread... Also be sure MD5 matches.

Yes originally it was but I managed to fix it by re-doing it all over again w system repair too, though I believe it was doing it over again that fixed it the system repair could've helped. Anyways new issues now, TWRP claims I have no OS....yet here I am....booted in 5.0 w GApps. Oh well nothing to be upset by I guess, least I fixed it.

Glad to hear it! Sometimes /system remains mounted so TWRP will incorrectly report missing OS
I guess the mic doesn't work, Shazam doesn't work?
Works great so far! Only issue appears to be the volume buttons (when used for notification volume) results in crashing.
