[READ] Attn kernel developers - 2011-08-01

Hey guys,
A quick heads up. Samsung have posted kernel sources for their latest Chinese ROM release that a few people have mistaken for updated kernel sources used in the 2.3.4 builds.
!! THIS IS NOT TRUE !!
The GT-I9100_CHN_CHN.zip marked as used in I9100ZCKG4 is exactly the same source as the original EUR based kernel GT-I9100_Opensource.zip, which is a buggy release and causes random reboots.
The one the latest custom kernels are (or should be) based on GT-9100_OpenSource_Update1.zip is sources used with 2.3.3 and still the latest version we have available.
So don't go grabbing the "latest" Chinese release, as it's actually a downgrade.

ics source released

looks like the latest p6810 released today (update1?) has prompted a release of the new source code:

time to play
wrong section. but it should be useful in developing custom kernels for the p6810.

Good news?
Can anybody confirm if this is what the developers require to keep i9100 alive?
source kernel international is out today for i9100 JB
http://opensource.samsung.com/
Well, they released the JB sources, yeah. The more important question: Are the driver sources for the proprietary hardware in there?
i hope it's the thing that devs need
For anyone playing with the new source, the cypress driver is missing from /drivers/input/keyboard. I re-added it and can now build a working kernel. I emailed sammy asking if it was a simple mistake :silly:

What is this rom based off of? Since the U.S. Variants aren't released yet, is this a port from the G3? Or from a Korean variant?
How do you flash when you can't root or install twrp?
No kernel source and placeholders are not allowed.
Provide GPL-compliant kernel source and something to actually download and flash, and the thread will be opened.

Qualcomm security exposure on the Z3 compact

So all over tech news today is the recently discovered vulnerabilty of android devices with Qualcomm chips. I downloaded the app that checks for these vulnerabilities and the links to each bug is below. There is very little that users on stock roms can do about this other than wait for Sony to release an updated version of their ROM. I expect fixes to be incorporated into OmniRom, CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android and other custom roms as and when the Open Devices team merge them in.

Lol the latest ROM is merely on the May 1st Security patch, I don't think they'll ever incorporate these patches in.
These are all kernel patches so they should be easy to patch into a custom kernel
The Sony concept team is very fast with updates and security patches. So maybe Concept-Rom users don't have to wait too long for a patch?
Just don't install random **** from the Internet and you're set. Same goes for Windows devices.
There, just saved you thousands of IT budget.
