[STOCK][ODIN][TARs][3/17/15]Latest - N910PVPU1BOB7 Stock TAR - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 General

UPDATED 3/17/15 - Added OB7 tar
I didn't see a decent link to the stock NIE/NK2/OB7 tar that wasn't on rapidgator or similar crappy site, so I uploaded it to AFH.
Required Files
N910PVPU1BOB7 tar - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934542777
Samsung USB Drivers - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001612594
Odin - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001612591
How to Flash
Install Samsung USB Drivers (if you haven't already)
Unzip N910PVPU1BOB7_N910PSPT1BOB7_SPR.zip, you'll have a file called N910PVPU1BOB7_N910PSPT1BOB7_N910PVPU1BOB7_HOME.tar.md5
Unzip Odin-v3.07.zip
Right-click on Odin3-v3.07.exe > Run as Administrator
Reboot your phone into Download mode - Power off, then press and hold Power + Home + Volume Down. Press Volume Up when you see the warning screen
Click on the PDA button and pick the N910PVPU1BOB7_N910PSPT1BOB7_N910PVPU1BOB7_HOME.tar.md5 file, wait until Odin says that the MD5 was checked successfully
Click Start
Once finished, you'll be back to stock. This WILL NOT reset the KNOX Warranty flag if you've rooted, it will only put you back to the stock ROM/recovery/firmware. Enjoy

Oops, sorry shabby! If you had one, I didn't see it. You didn't have a thread for it, right? Cause I looked and didn't see one.

There's a few already, in general where these threads belong. Moving this there.

This happens on a brand spanking new Sprint note 4 right out of the box. I know this because when me and my wife got our new phones at a corporate Sprint store the sprint installer "stopped working" on first boot when they were activating our phones and turning them on for the first time. This is caused by the way they have these installer/preload apk's in the rom and the fact that the installer has to contact the network and actually download files during setup. This is NOTHING to worry about. Simply reboot your phone a second time and the sprint configuration installer will initialize and do it's thing. This is jst a little quirk but I've seen on on stock unrooted phones and rooted phones exactly the same.

Looks great. Care if I add it to my boot screen page on the site?
Go ahead!!

Just attempted this and it went terribly wrong
everything was okay until it tried pushing the logo to my sdcard (which failed with "permission denied") - it then said it couldn't copy the file from sdcard because it didn't exist.
I proceeded to unmount the sdcard from the phone and try it again which seemed to work. I shut the phone down and when I attempted to turn it back on it just remained off... I was able to get into download mode with odin 1-click and flash to stock (thank God).
- Serendipity 5.7
- I9000 .rar package
- logo_ATNT.jpg < 20K
was it the unmounting that did the trick? and can I just manually move the file onto /mnt/sdcard/ and edit the .bat file to skip the push?
Worked perfectly for me I love the nexus boot screen with my nexus boot animation Thank you connexion

I'm not sure but it sounds like you didn't make sure that busy box was installed. As for not turning back on, I'm surprised at that. I soft bricked a vibrant building the vibrant files and got out of it but that was my fault pulling the usb cable out accidentally before ODIN was done. The answer to your question is yes, you can just flash the param.lfs tar file, verify busy box apk is installed and so is busy box, then just manually move the file. The script is built for simplicity. I'm sorry you had trouble.

Also, you did let the phone try to boot for a sec right? In some cases when you don't have a boot screen after the flash you won't get a dirty pixel screen but it will be black for the 5-10 seconds it attempts to show you whats there. I just want to make sure you were not prematurely turning the phone off.

yeah, i attempted to turn back on twice (hold power for about 3-4 seconds, wait about 10) after it seemingly succeeded - I pulled battery in between jic.
the .bat file said busybox install failed because it was already installed... how else can I verify that bb is installed?
I'm going to try again once I get another ROM back on my phone because I really want to get at&t off my phone

That will install the application on the phone. But, before you finish the rest of the batch script, you must open the app on the phone and make sure it's installed. It will look and tell you. If it's not click install busybox. When it's done, continue with the batch script. I'd start fresh also btw. Reflash with ODIN on the tar package then launch the script.

[Q] Returning Galaxy S4 (rooted) for a new one. Please help. (or unroot help)

So yesterday when AT&T announced 50% off of smartphones I was pretty dumbfounded since I got a brand new S4 the day before. But the day I got it I rooted it and did all the other stuff. I will return my S4 for a new one but it's impossible for me to unroot. Everything I've done doesn't seem to work. I used Odin but it stops at the "Get PIT for mapping" stage. I tried deleting SuperSU but that didn't work. It made things worse because it said I'm not rooted but I still am. Now I can't even go to recovery. And I can't even connect to Kies. Can anyone help me unroot my device or help me be able to return my device when it's rooted?

I would think the tools section of Kies will have an option that will work. Connection trouble shoot first then emergency recovery. If your phone boots, you should be able to reset it to out of the box state.
If it's still rooted, try triangle away app.
If you go to settings, more, about device, build number, then tap on build number repeatedly it will restore developer options, if it's not shown now. From there you can enable or disable USB debugging. That might help with Odin. Wish I had more answers for ya.
Also try settings, accounts, backup and reset, factory data reset.

Do you know how to enter the download mode? If so then odin should recognize it. I think it's "hold the power button, down volume, and home button" till it instructs you to let got and hit the up volume button. The connect it to the pc for odin.

Yes I'm trying the Odin process. It's working so far except it stops at "Get PIT for mapping..." which is here i.imgur.com/z8fnjRd (add png to the end)
Kies is not recognizing my device after troubleshoot. It is stuck at "Connecting..." which prevents me from emergency firmware recovery.
There are two options that will help me the most:
Connecting to Kies and getting a PIT file for Odin

Is your phone a US AT&T model I337? There is a stock recovery rom in this forum somewhere, it's a zip file when extracted it will have a tar.MD5 file for use with odin. Or maybe you should use the PDA selection in odin, and uncheck the reboot box.

Why don't you just call cs and get credit for the difference instead of returning it. You're going to get another s4 anyways.

Everyone I now know what I really want to do. I want to flash the stock ROM. But this is impossible with http://i.imgur.com/z8fnjRd.png "Get PIT for mapping" is stopping me, which is very frustrating.
Just throwing out some ideas. Try a different cable if you got another one. Try plugging into a usb port in back of computer. You could try to re download the file again using a different mirror. Could just be a bad download. Anyways good luck.

Galaxy Note 3 Verizon
My fault. I was following a youtube video on how to get free tether. I did it, rebooted my phone and now
I am stuck at the white Verizon screen. After I did this I found the process was for TMobile, not Verizon.
It's been 3 days now and I'm afraid to do anything. A few folks have said, all I need to do is reflash with

You would have had to install safestrap in the first place... and seeing as how you don't know what that is, I'm guessing you didn't,
That's OK, though, if you can get into download/ odin mode you *should* be able to odin a copy of MJ7 or MJE. Try the steps listed in the guide I posted and see if that works first.

That tar.md5 file is what you need. Follow the instructions in section 1 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483380 for restoring from a soft brick, and you'll be back to stock.

The file you need is N900VVRUBMJ7_N900VVZWMJ7_N900VVRUBMJ7_HOME.tar.md5. That is the Stock ROM that came with your phone and that is what you need to flash with Odin. You can download Odin 3.09 from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539. Install Odin on your computer and launch the application. Boot the phone into download mode, connect your phone via your USB cable and make sure that the Com slot turns blue, it may take a second as windows might need to install the correct drivers. Click on the AP slot and browse to the TAR file you downloaded. After you load the file into the AP slot, press start. This will flash the stock firmware on to your phone, it will be just like the day you brought it home from the store. Everything will be wiped out and reinstalled. Don't be scared to do it though, it's probably the only way you will get things working correctly again. Hope it all works out for you!

Use kingo. Search for it on Google. Hook up to your pc with your USB cable. Make sure USB debugging is on. To enable USB debugging go into about phone in your settings and press build number seven times, it will open up developer options. You can enable it there. Kingo is simple, after your plugged in just press root. Theres nothing to it. Personally I would replace the superuser app that comes with kingo with the one from the play store. Open superuser and select settings, at the bottom select "switch superuser app". It will uninstall and you can install the trusted version from the play store. Enjoy.

I've used kingo multiple times on multiple devices. So have many other people here. It's a definite way to root your device and I haven't heard of one person actually having any issues. Honestly, no I'm not worried about anything.

[Q] Help a Noob please? Flashing the Stock ROM won't work

Hello, I am new to these forums as well as owning an Android device, and was directed here from Reddit when I posted my question there. to save time, I'll simply copy/paste my explanation of my predicament from Reddit, but if I seem to be leaving something out, please tell me so I can offer up as much information as I can.
"I've owned a Galaxy S5 for a little over 2 weeks, and for the past 4-5 Days, any time I try to Turn it on, I receive a message that says "Secure Fail: Modem", in red letters at the top left of the screen, and in the middle there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point with the following text underneath "System software unauthorized by verizon has been detected on your device. please shut Down and go to the nearest verizon store" I'm 17, and currently staying at Governor's school, so I didn't have a ride until yesterday when my Dad and Uncle came to help me try to fix my phone. We went to the Verizon store, where they said that it looked at though I had tried to "root" the phone, which I haven't. My theory is that this is the result of a pokemon game I downloaded from the internet for an emulator. We Called tech support who couldn't help us, but after a little Research, I tried downloading Odin and flashing it with the Stock Rom, but every time I do that, I get the same Error message, regardless of whether I wipe the phone first, or Remove the sim card or whatever, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong and thought that maybe reddit could help me."
I've tried to flash the stock rom several times as per the following video: apparently I cannot link to outside content; however, the video is titled "How to Flash Stock Firmware for Galaxy S5 [All Variants] by Odin3" on youtube
if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Restart your phone in recovery mode by shutting the phone down and then starting it back up by holding the home, volume up and the power keys until you see the blue text at the top of the phone saying recovery booting. When it boots into recovery use the volume key to select wipe cache partition and then press the power key to run that. Then select wipe data/factory reset and run that. When that's done select reboot system and see if it starts normally. If that doesn't work try Odin with the tar and pit file.

I've tried all of that, even the pit file, it's still telling me that it detects system software unauthorized by verizon, and I don't know why or how it would if I've supposedly wiped the phone clear several times over

I use this method and it worked great. I suggest you try it again, to include re downloading the tar file. Follow the straightforward instructions. Leave your phone connected to the computer even after you flash the tar. It will go through the whole reboot process while connected to the computer. If you still have problems, ask mrxtc (op). I see him all over the place and he seems pretty good at helping people fix problems.

everything I downloaded was from the google play store, with the exception of the "pokemon emerald" rom from coolrom.com. I hadn't attempted to root the phone prior, I didn't even know what that meant until I googled the error message. that actually brought me to a thread on this site where somebody had tried to root their S3 and got the same message. as for the model of the phone, all I know is that it's an S5 and that I got it at Verizon.

Other than what I posted in the recovery thread and what I posted a few posts up that's pretty much it. You could try the nand erase all and efs clear options, check the screen shot and make sure your check boxes are correct. Also if you didn't download the files from the thread I posted I suggest you do. Honestly if none of what was already suggested doesn't work I would contact Samsung. I've had and seen your error before and successfully reset my phone before.

i guess my question was how did you try to run the rom? its a long shot but thinkin since technically its a rom file maybe you used it wrong.. also, theres dev edition s5 and retail s5 for vzw so it does matter which model you have and which odin files youre trying to use.. since phone is less than a year old, id contact samsung if you cant get it fixed and theyll send you a return kit and reflash the software for you.. something similar happened to someone with an s5 active on att n samsungs gonna help him.. only reason he needs to send it in however is cuz there is no s5 active tar available yet for him to odin. you should b able to on yours but hard to fix without having the device in hand and u saying uve tried everything

how do I tell the difference between the dev and retail editions?
I'll see about contacting samsung, since I seemed to have bricked it.

theres a soft brick (recoverable) and a hard brick (not recoverable).. normally a hard brick your phone wont come on or go into any mode at all.. soft brick is when it starts up but either bootloops or wont boot at all into the os (like yours).. im just lost as to why it wont work! crazy.. if u got at vzw and dont know what a dev edition is then u most likely have a retail s5 so mister odin guide should work..

Yea man it worked for me too. If you can get to stock recovery or Odin mode you should be able to do it. Factory reset and clear cache a whole bunch of times.
Just wanted to add I had the same error recently and tried everything. Nothing would fix
Seeing this twice in just a few days has me wondering if VZW has something buried in NK2 ...
I just registered because I'm having this same problem and haven't been able to solve it. I've never flashed any of my phones until last night, because of this error. I followed the instructions in Misterxtc's thread, but no dice. Still looking for help.

The only way I can do that is to get the phone to boot, which it will not get past the error stated in this thread: "SECURE FAIL: modem" I just tried to get all of that to work (sorry the late response was at work) and again it's a no go, I'm going to take it to Verizon, but I'm not optimistic about what kind of results I'm going to get there.
The phone came with the NI2 SW to begin with, and I tried to install that with Odin. gets me about half a second of the normal Samsung splash screen then straight back into the error, after that first boot, no splash only the error.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

I'm in the same boat. I've tried everything to get this issue resolved and I'm not having any luck.
Anyone know how I determine which tar file I should be using (NE9, NCG, etc)? I've got a SM-G900V and I think I've pretty much tried all of the tar files via this link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880.

[FULL RESTORE] MM PCA STOCK odin flashable pulled from Samfirm tool

Moved from the android dev section to general section as suggested by @malbert16442 This should not trip knox but Im guessing most people who are viewing this already have anyway . Simply Download on your PC, put your device into download mode (power off phone and hold volume down, home button and power button and let go when you see the download mode icon) and place the file in the AP slot in Odin.

For MM, you have to use a different method called systemless root. I did it a while ago and there is a written out tutorial over on the "sprint gs5 android 6.0" thread in this forum. Just use the search tool there and search "systemless root."
Decisions, decisions - - use this to 'upgrade stock' from my rooted stock deox and have phone totally reset ...or wait for deox stock MM PCA and see if it will take without reset ...
hmmm
Was all hot to upgrade the 2 yo phone , but nothing compelling..nothing faster with qi charging, radio, ir blaster , sd-card slot, water proof , and definetley nothing with removable battery. S7 is the closest and it is locked down ..so sad.

Has anyone tried flashing this using flashfire, injecting root, and flashing the stock partitions via Odin with success? Wile my phone is beyond the warranty period, I have not tripped knox yet and would like to keep it that way if possible. I was able to have completely stock rooted OK4 with this method.
Just to be clear -- will applying this tar via Odin do the full update of MM bootloader, kernel, modem (if applicable), etc etc?

Yup! So you will be able to flash custom roms like @malbert16442 s7 port without any issues (well when he releases V3 as he a group of people beta testing it right now and according to @philiptibbs who is among them V3 works fully with sprint. And on 2.5 everything works but sending sms (recieving sms and sending/recieving mms work fine though, not sure why thats the case.)
