Or should I not worry

they will not make any announcement im sure they know when they are going to offer it but i think its gonna be untill after everyone else releases it. I guess since its not exclusive to them they really dont care i guess

They want to milk the Droid Turbo for 90 days then have the next/old flagship then. Better off buying it elsewhere at this point if you want it.

I know it's frustrating but with all the delayed launches and supply issues I can't blame them for getting their ducks in a row

Not to be a jerk or anything, but i dont understand where this Droid Turbo 90 days thing has come from, & why it has any traction? I underrstand it as that since its a "Droid" it has special meaning because otherr carriers dont have the namesake, but Verizon will have no problem moving the Turbo.

The DT is a VZW exclusive so they are gonna try to sell the hell out of it. I had 3 different VZW employees try to convince me to get it when I was at the store the other day. I think its one of the ugliest phones I have ever seen. Those capacitive buttons are hideous. And I'm not even an on screen button kind of guy. I got an S3 lol. Plus the boot loader will never be unlocked and it will probably never get root. Besides the 805 chip it has nothing going for it.

You do realize that the Droid Turbo and Nexus 6 have some identical hardware, including the 805, right?

Either way, VZW and their representatives aren't going to give any information until Verizon officially announces their plans to sell the phone. Until then, they're all just going to give the standard "We don't currently have any information on that, check back soon! Also, consider one of our other phones, like the Droid Turbo!" type responses.

Droid Turbo + Locked down = Droid TurDo.

You do realize I never said it didn't. I said it was ugly. Read better.

VZW is listed as a carrier on Google's Nexus 6 page, so I'd say it's safe to assume they will carry it at some point.
Then again, the same thing happened with the Nexus One and VZW ended up getting the DROID Incredible instead. Not that I think that's going to happen (it isn't), but interesting sidebar nonethenless.

Not sure why you would be concerned when the rep said absolutely nothing either way. There's already like 5 threads talking about this though so...

It doesn't matter. The nexus 6 has one model for all carriers. It should work straight out of the box with a Verizon Sim

Buy from Motorola with their financing. Screw Verizon. Greedy bastards. Although with all of their tricks to relieve folks of unlimited data plans, every time someone gives up their plan they drive up the value of the remaining plans.

Well to be fair, they have recently increased the amount of data you get on the shared plans by 50% or more......I could have gone from 10gb to 15gb shared for the same 100 bucks, but instead i took the new 10gb price of 80 bucks, we never use all 10gb across three smartphones, saved me 20 bucks a month for the same service......I used to have unlimited data on a couple lines but I realized after many months I wasn't using it.....and we WERE using massive amounts of texts. We got unlimited calling and texts and 10gb of shared data which was plenty, AND got three brand new top tier smartphones on Edge and walked away with the same exact bill give or take a few dollars, now that bill has shrunk 20 bucks...I'm happy.

I believe Moto offers 0% interest for up to 18 months. When I was having a weak moment I had a blue N6 in my cart and it said I could get it for as low as $38/mo. I financed my Moto X 2013 with their proprietary credit card and it was great. I bought the phone during Cyber Monday and paid it off right after New Years (tax return), but it was great having 0% on it.

EVO flier from Sprint Marketing with pricing

Hi,
Here is a flier from Sprint about the EVO.
For those looking for off contract pricing for BB or RS so that they will match the EVO $449 pricing!!!
from the add...
it reads like the $10 will cover the Hotspot function!!
At the end it clearly says....
"Best Value: For an extra $29.99 extend the power with 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability that will connect up to 8 devices."
That 10 wont cover the hotspot.
after reading that flyer which compares it to the other popular phones from the other major carriers, its very convincing!
Its on the last page. "Best Value: For an extra $29.99 extend the power with 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability that will connect up to 8 devices. "

Although it looks like it is from sprint, the graphs are nice, but the pictures of the phones are horribly photoshopped in, and that isn't even a pictures of the droid incredible(huge failure), make me wonder if it is really from them...
Also, later on it shows a graph comparing to the iPhone 3GS, and i'm sorry but 1ghz is not double 600 mhz...

RadioShack will not match this price. (We pretty much don't match any prices anymore) I would also doubt BB will unless you are real tight with a manager there.

At the Radio Shack I went to, the guy said that they pretty much WILL match Sprint's price.
So, my question, is there an official policy or is it just up to how nice of a person the store manager is?

their fanboys. by definition, data (aka chart) really won't matter. you'll start hearing things like "well, the iPhone experience..."
don't worry, though, once they play with it they will get the experience . . . maybe.
I am by no means an apple/iphone fan, but that chart is wildly stupid.
Lets compare somethings that aren't so effing obvious..kickstand? come on, we know.
evo still rocks, but man, gay ass comparision charts.
Hmm, the flier is a bit deceptive. T-Mobile's Even More Plus $59.99 plan sure beats their minimum $79.99 Evo plan with the exception of Any Mobile to Any Network thingy. Including tax, that's already pushing over $90 a month...just too much.
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/...tb1&rateplan=Even-More-Plus-500-Talk-Text-Web
I'm serious considering moving from Sprint elsewhere. Here in NYC, T-mo and Sprint's signal are just fine. I could score a Nexus One for $300 and get on the $59.99 T-Mobile dealio (plus no contract). Tough times..these are.

Im wondering if its just the sdk or the source. If its just the sdk its pretty much a emulator and software tools for app developers. If its the source then that would be perfect. We could start building aosp gingerbread for the Evo.

n1 is still highly used in alot of university tech demos and concept technologies... its basically a cheap small computer with alot of sensors
case in point, the n1 in rocket launching for accelerometer and sensor data, etc.
i would say its still holding its own very well.
i would also hope its the testbed for all future android iterations, because if it runs good on that phone, then it'll run AWESOME on our evo phones.

Why? They have the same CPU (well, we have the CDMA variation if you want to be exact), same GPU, and same amount of RAM. If anything the Nexus One will run better since their kernels are usually more optimized because they come from Google.
As for not being a big leap, I think UI wise it will be. Expect a newer, darker theme and more animations/effects. I think that it'll look like a mash up between Froyo, the newer voice actions pop ups, the ASOP 3d gallery app, the YouTube app, and Google TV. I also expect hardware acceleration for the UI to be introduced.
Speaking of hardware acceleration, I'm actually kind of worried about how the EVO will perform here. I had a low end Sprint Optimus S, Epic 4G, and my EVO 4G on hand today. I wanted to see how each performed when using the 3D Gallery app and the EVO was pretty choppy.
The Epic's GPU is obviously good so its no surprise that it had no problems. The Optimistic S has a past gen 600 MHz CPU and the same Adreno 200 GPU as the EVO (which really makes a statement: our GPU is in a $50 budget phones), the lower resolution also helps and it ended up running the app very smoothly. The higher resolution of the EVO and the Adreno 200 was as I said choppy. Simple things like popping up the menu were choppy and unattractive even when only 1 photo was in the gallery...
I really hope Google has something up their sleeves. I can't imagine them releasing a choppy UI on the Nexus One which is essentially the same as the EVO performance wise. At least I hope so.

The best thing that gingerbread will bring is VOIP using google voice number. If it works anything like the client thats part of gmail.com that would be cool.

Gingerbread will look nothing like that. That much I can guarantee.
If you've ever played with making themes you'd realize that it's probably trying to call a bunch of system graphics that currently do not exist in Froyo. That's why it's mostly solid colors.
No, No, No....It is not for the N1, it is for the N2! Well they might not call it the Nexus 2 but that is what it is.... Googles successor to the N1. Tmobile will have it and it will be released the 11th with gingerbread pre installed and it's a samsung with 1.2 snapdragon..(some rumors are the 8th)....Well that is the most popular rumor.. Google it. We only have 4 days to see if it is true. If it is, i will be all over it!! I've been waiting for a reason to go back to t-mobile. $79.99 a month unlimited (if you buy phone outright, no contract) and they have their 4g in my area now, sprint doesnt, and they charge a ton more than t-mobile.
a ton more? more yes, if you don't have 4G probably not worth it, but t-mobile is capping their data now

Not on their phones. They do on their portable hotspots.
Unlimited means unlimited, not capped. I had this plan a few months ago before the evo released, on my nexus. My girl got the nexus and opened an account w/ tmobile, got the same plan, 79.99 unlimited everything.
and yeah $40 more a month to sprint than i was paying T-Mobile is a ton more. I do understand that tmobile doesn't have the best coverage for some, so some tmobile is not a good option. but it is excellent where i am. I like the free built in wifi calling too, no need for a separate airwave device or whatever it is called.

Rumors are that it has been delayed -- that's if it even exists. It also might just be a near stock Android phone that is not directly supported by Google (like the G2) so it might come with Gingerbread but still attached to the same crappy Samsung software upgrading. And a 1.2 Snapdragon? They don't use Snapdragons, it's rumored to be a 1.2 GHz Hummingbird.
You can get a EPRP plan with sprint and pay $69.99 w/ the new data fee or pay $79.99 (also with the new data fee included) for the regular ED plan with yearly upgrades. With unlimited mobile to mobile it's pretty much unlimited all around and with the ED plan you get a new phone every year at a subsidized price. Not saying that T-Mo is bad but Sprint offers superior 3G coverage, competitive (at least in this stage - T-Mo's HSPA+ coverage is just upgrades to it's existing 3G network which will become a bottleneck as it's the worse of the big 4) "4G" coverage, and better value (cheaper on contract w/ yearly upgrades).
I also wouldn't be super surprised if there's a Sprint WiMax version of this Samsung phone. Samsung already makes a WiMax Galaxy S for Sprint (Epic 4G), and the rumored Nexus Two is basically a Galaxy S with a bumped up CPU and vanilla Android. The original Nexus One was also announced by Sprint before being axed to better push their flagship EVO 4G which was going to be released around the same time.

Thats new to me, i thought it was just the hotspot. So unlimited is not truly unlimited, nice. Something to consider definitely before i make the move.

If not the Nexus S/2 .... then what??

I havent done much research on the N2 so Im not sure what to expect. But Im just curious, what device would you upgrade to in the near future. If the N2 isnt up to par ( i will wait till it is available to decide ) i would prob just wait till something great came out. The G2 looks great, but not spectacular. As far as Im concerned, the N1 is still a beast among the Androids....maybe Ill keep the N1 and get a Galaxy Tab
I personally just got the nexus a few weeks ago. I paid $450 brand new in box.
Tossled with the idea of selling it, and also had a buyer, but I decided to keep it. For someone like me, its a great starter phone to learn android on without the worry of bricking it (done that with the jasjar in the past) and I think its slim as hell.
I'd wait for something thats as slim, and maybe even that foldable Amoled screen in the Samsung video (just kidding).
When I do upgrade to a thin Samsung I will still keep the Nexy. Even if it means saving up longer for a $480 phone. The nexus is just a collectors piece for a techie like me that I'd like to keep framed someday, in a display case. even if it won't be worth anything in my lifetime.
Cheers.
Another great thing about the N1 is the built in tethering and WiFi hotspot.
ATT unlimited data plan + free wifi hotspot and tethering= no brainer.
The build quality is the sugar on top.
and just for the sake of arguing, let's say the Nexus S comes out available on ATT: I can guarantee it will be without the hotspot and tethering options. That was added to the N1 after the fact via OS upgrade. No way ATT will ever allow that again, imo. Not for free the way it is now.
Being compatible with ATT 3G and having free hotspot and tethering is a once in a lifetime thing. I'm going to get me the wifi only Galaxy tab and use it ANYWHERE I want via N1 wifi hotspot...imagine THAT!

I asked about this before saying that if the Nexus S is sold at T-Mobile/Att stores then they are going to have the IMEI #s and will block the phones from using web-2-go type of dumbphone data plans (the best feature of the N1) and also might have some control over OS features like tethering?
One guy on here said that the Nexus S might be sold through BestBuy / Walmart / RadioShack instead of T-mobile / Att stores and might bypass the carriers again like the original N1 did so that T-Mobile/Att wont have any say on what the phone can or can't do.
Here's hoping the NexusS never EVER is sold at a T-Mobile/Att store

Here's hoping the NexusS never EVER is sold at a T-Mobile/Att store

With the way ATT is clamping down on data(no more unlimited data for new customers) I would be shocked if another device is ever ATT compatible and also contain free hotspot and tethering, no-matter where it is sold. If I'm wrong, I might get the NS given the dual core processor. That MIGHT be enough for me to overlook the build quality. I certainly agree with you regarding not selling the NS thru ATT/tmobile stores. Fudge them.
I'd also like to wait and see the battery life under the new dual processor phones before plunging into them.
I think someone made a worthy mention in another thread: phone technology is advancing, but is battery technology advancing too?
I hope it will tho in the future

Processors are also getting much more energy efficient, plus having a fast CPU without any CPU intensive apps (most apps would run fine on a single core 100-200MHz CPU) makes it more efficient in itself.
Edit: TBH, the Nexus S is really the only "must have" phone. If it has the Orion chip it'll compete with everything else through early 2012. You might seem some advancements in camera performance, maybe more RAM/ROM, but spec-wise, what else would there be to improve upon? Then there's the fact that all other flagship phones will be running Touchwiz/Sense/etc. and will be at the mercy of the OEMs/Carriers to receive future support/updates.

The Nexus is a great phone, but I want HSPA+ so I'd have to say pick up a G2 on Craigslist. They are under $400.00 already and dropping.
If you've had your Nexus a while and are just itching for something different thats what I'd get.
I mean if Nexus S is HSPA+ I will be getting one, if not then probably a G2.
Okay you're right but other than that I'd stay with the Nexus One.
Atleast that's what I'm doing for now. We don't even have HSPA+ or LTE or whatever here yet, haha
Samsung said they are releasing a dualcore, 4" Super AMOLED 2 (yep, 2) MONSTAH first quarter of 2011.
That's what I'm waiting for. If you're spending 500+ bucks, might as well spend it good.

Vibrant has ATT radio so that might work
Keeping the Nexus One for now. Will think about the Ns if it's build is solid & has HSPA+

If we get a Samsung built unbranded google phone with an Orion processor it'll be the nexus successor hands down, it'll have the best internals and be completely shrouded in controversy just like the N1. Either way if the Orion is there I'm buying it.

Better touch screen, better 3G radio performance/location (maybe even dual radios like I think it's Nokia that does it). Better headjack (recessed headjack = dumb idea, it failed miserably on the first iPhone for a reason). Better gaming performance (which would come as part of the Orion Processor).
I love my N1, but it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

Looks like you can't even use wifi without paying for a month of data from Verizon.
Greedy corporations putting their shareholders above their customers. I was planning on getting this device but I can't justify spending $800. The same goes to ATT charging $500 for the dock for the atrix. Shame!!!

Terrible.
I was planning on getting a Xoom, but now I'm going to wait and see if T-Mo's Honeycomb LG tablet is a better deal... I have a feeling it will be, even with the gimmicky 3D functionality.
The xoom looks freaking amazing. I wish it weren't so stinking expensive now if someone could port honeycomb to netbooks.... that would be sick.

Was looking forward to selling my iPad and buying this awesome Xoom tablet. Not for $800 I'm not. How can they justify a price this high? I mean its not THAT different hardware wise from the dumpy Viewsonic G-Tablet. It has better specs overall, but not over double the price better.
I was sooooo excited for this, now I am loathing Motorola for having such a poor plan for the pricing of their products.
G-Slate here I come (possibly).
Although I'm upset about the pricing, I'm more upset about Verizon requiring a month of cellular data to use wifi. That's just greedy.
That said, to put it in perspective, the Xoom is only nominally more expensive than the equivalent iPad but with better hardware (ffc, Tegra2, higher resolution, etc):

700 would have been a much smarter move on their part in all honesty...
I will be very interested in seeing how much the wifi version costs and when it even comes out for that matter.
No way will I pay that much.. if they are requiring you to sign up with Verizon you should be getting some nice subsidizing...
Wait....what...huh..you have to pay to use wifi? How can u charge me to use my home wifi. Where does it say that

It looks like the data is month to month, so you aren't signing a contract, meaning no subsidized price. I mean, you could buy it at $799 and pay $20 for 1 month of data to activate wifi, but what if you have to factory reset your device? I bet there will be a hack to unlock wifi in a week anyway...

Directly under the picture of the Xoom.
It says under the picture that for wifi to be activated you have to sign on for at least a month for a data plan of at least 1gb.

Cheap blow from Verizon....I had this on lock down...now I can't get it even on principle....that hurts
I bet they won't even let you leave the store with it unless you pay for 1 month of data.
Yeah, that is some BS. Really. I was going to get this instead of a laptop, because it ran Android and had similar specs to lower/midrange laptops. Now I'm most likely not. Moto is starting to look a lot like Apple, thankfully we still have HTC, who actually gives a crap more or less (but could be faster on updating stuff).

Severely disappointed, motorola just lost a customer, not for just this but forthe recent pricing/billing plans for the Atrix 4g (with its laptop base/require tethering). As for the Xoom, I too can no longer justify buying this device... 1. My principles won't let me 2. Price.
@500-600: Perfect deal given the hardware specs, would lead to large sales (taking customers from the ipad/and ipad2 marked, myself included)
@600: I would say it is a pretty good deal. Although i don't know exact specifics, the price of the hardware prolly runs around the 400-500$ range (even the tegra 2 development kit runs for 250$ minus a screen,R&D, and a few other hardware differences)
@700: A bit pricey, and over priced. Wouldn't have been shocked on this price point since it is basically the unofficial flagship tablet of Android 3.0, and a true "first-generation" android tablet(which understandably comes at a slight premium and early adoption cost)
@800: Completely overpriced, dont care how "new" it is, Tegra 2 has been out for more than a year. Adding insult to injury... required 1 month data plan(which in itself is RIDICULOUS). NO Thank you, Motorola just ruined it, period.
I can only hope it was an intentional leak/doctored photo. Because of this, I thought i would never say this, being a huge open source supporter(and big google supporter), i think i will hold of and get an ipad 2. Knowing Apple, the Ipad 2 will have very similar specs, new features, cheaper price point (and most likely to adopt an even cheaper price point, maybe ~50$ cheaper than current generation?)
Disheartened....

complain on their facebook page.
you won't be alone. a ton of pricing complains on their xoom thread.
I think i've figured it out... moto uses really expensive plastic. Atrix dock is $500. i guess i'm stupid for thinking they could make a wifi only xoom for $500.
silly me ;P
The Galaxy Tab needed to be activated too unless you knew the up/down, up/down, etc/etc backdoor to skip activation.
There's probably a back door to the Xoom too.
Can't wait to see how Canadians get screwed over by this. I'm looking forward to see what others bring at MWC in the next week or so.

Verizon Moto X comes out tomorrow..... I'm hoping the dev edition isn't far off

So far, the only confirmed information we have is that VZW is going to get a Developer Edition. The stock Moto X won't be unlockable.
Also: Verizon's own tech support people don't know what Motomaker is, as I figured out when I called them to find out information about the Moto X
Along those same lines, it sounds like VZW is only getting 16 gb models until either dev model comes out or Moto Maker goes live. Can anyone confirm? I'd like 32 gigs, sad face.
Dammitttttttttttttt!
I'm not buying the Moto X until I get 32gb
11gb usable space isnt enough for my use

IIRC, 32GB is MotoMaker only, even through AT&T.
I'm going to take a huge guess and say that the Nexus 4 price slashing has to do with the X coming into the Play Store and not because of the next Nexus phone. We know from Guy that there will be a Play Store offering so it only makes sense that they want to feature that as the "better" phone to have listed in Play. So they mark down the N4 to 199/250 since 299/350 wouldn't be discounted as much as they to have enough difference in pricing last year vs this year's offering.
Then again they might just be clearing out for a October release of a new Nexus.
I'd be leaning on the side of the Nexus 5 for the play store
I just got an email from my Motorola connection. Motorola.com will NOT be selling the Verizon Moto X without a contract, meaning we'll have to order through Verizon. The only way to order from Verizon.com is to couple it with an upgrade... Damn it.

Hey Michael, I just found out this morning that we will not sell Moto X Verizon w/o plan on motorola.com as i thought on 8.29. You will need to go to verizonwireless to purchase, not sure what their buy options will be, or if their in-market date has changed, but I'd check early.

I can post a screenshot of the email if you guys want further proof of source.
I just hope they change their mind about the dev edition being black and white which IMO looks dumb.
Also there is no reason they shouldn't let you customize the dev edition like the others. That is a big selling point for this phone (customization) and to take that away from people who are going to pay more for the dev edition is also dumb.

Honestly, I'd personally take an unlocked bootloader over a customized device. After all, we've been doing it without customized phones for this long, haven't we?
Does that mean no Dev version for Verizon at all or just no locked verizon X for full price at Moto.com?

The way I'm readying it (...on 8.29...) it sounds like he meant it just won't be sold on motorola.com YET. As far as I know, the Dev edition is definitely still coming, and will be able to be purchased like all other Moto Dev Editions were sold.
Yeah, Punit Soni confirmed that Verizon is getting a developer edition, it's just that no one knows anything about when it's coming
True I forgot about that. But that was released well after the Nexus 4 originally came out and was criticized at the time for not being needed and just down right ugly.
I think it's pretty safe to assume the following:
Non customizable design
32gb
unlocked bootloader obviously
"DEVELOPER EDITION" inscribed on the back
Only available on motorola.com
I have a strong feeling that it will cost $649.99

I think unfortunately you are right once again.
Now for me as a Verizon owner with unlimited data I will have to pay for my next phone straight up anyway and seeing others having trouble unlocking other phones on Verizon this might not be such a bad thing.
But do I do this now or wait for a Nexus 5? Which will probably force me to switch carriers.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm not complaining about my situation now, I'm going to get a great phone, plus an unlocked bootloader. Haven't been able to say that about Verizon in a while.
And if you want the Nexus 5, be prepared to terminate your contract with Verizon, there's little to no chance it will carry any Nexus device again

I'm still sticking with my guess of $629.99, to match normal 32GB pricing.
Verizon always tries to make a little more profit on the margins, they'll bloat the price up to the $50. I mean, all their phones' prices end in either $_49.99 or $_99.99
