All reviews are with pre-release software. Performance and battery optimizations may already be addressed.
I personally can't say I ever play or even own any 2GB games on my phone ever for their bench to be a common scenario.

im mainly just hoping that it will be corrected with software updates......i kind of feel that might be it

It will, everyone needs to stop freaking out. Optimization will come, the phone isn't even out for the general public.

Not sure if any of you have seen this, or if it is on here in the development section.... but that is a pretty insane increase! 16+mflops/s! Stock is about 6mflops/s...
JIT makes my phone run 3 times faster but its not stable. Thats why Cyanogen does not include this by default. I cant wait till then have JIT bug free.

So that is just JIT? I hate being behind on what all is going on... trying to catch up, but they keep coming out with new stuff faster than I can learn about the old stuff...
Where do you get Linpac from?
I'd like to benchmark mine but I've searched the market for 'Linpac' and no joy
Try Linpack

That is one thing that dumbfounds me about Android... the search of the market is HORRIBLE! You would think google could come up with a good way to search the market...
Linkpack doesn't come up for me.

That was my bad, I added a 'K'... Should have been linpack.
Note:
I edited my original post to reflect 'linpack' so it doesn't mess anyone else up.

This is very true, I am still running stock and am in amazement! I will, in due time, root and get something custom on there of course, but for now I am enjoying the beauty of a stock N1 for all it is worth!

I think this is an issue for quite a few of us.
It seems that sometimes the screen registers a completely different place to where your finger touches.
I would say it's bad but I was touching the screen on my Nexus and selecting apps on my wifes G1

Last attempt at a positive thread?

I'm waiting for my N1 to be delivered.
Is it me or is there a plethora of worrying issues with the N1? Reading through various forums there seems to be issues with nearly all aspects of it from screens clicking to poor performance and software quirks. I can't seem to find any more positive threads and its starting to freak me out.
How does the N1 really compare to the iPhone/comparative-phone as a complete product? Both hardware and software quality.
Honesty would be much appreciated.
Most of the hardware issues should be resolved, you should not see dust, nor clicking screen etc. Software patch is said to be coming this week or so, and should resolve most of the glaring launch issues with 2.1.
As for comparison, I think you'll find a lot of former iPhone and now happy N1 users, the hardware is VASTLY superior currently, and I've never really seen a performance issue regarding the N1, its seriously wicked fast.
Theres worry
Then theres those who have their phone. They dont come on the forums much anymore like myself cus I'm too busy playing with my phone
People with issues are much more vocal than those without.
I have had none, not one, nada, nix, zero of the issues that have been brought to the fore in here.
I must be extremely lucky or the problems aren't that prevalent and, as I've said, the few are more vocal.
SC
I've had my phone since day one and it has worked better than I would have thought, specially because of all the complaints. Don't pay too much attention to them, the phone is awesome and will only get better!
I too lucked out, other than a few screen calibration re boot issues mine is running perfect! Love this baby. And the screen and speed can't be beat! Well worth the 500 some odd bucks. I paid!
hope to order mine by the end of the week and i have felt the same way you have regarding the negativity but that still hasn't made me have second thoughts at all about getting this phone, just the "i hope this doesnt happen to me" in the back of my mind. definitly agree with others that people are a lot more vocal on negative issues and i'm sure when i get my phone i wont be refreshing the general forum 600 times a day like i am now
This phone is awesome.
You really owe it to the N1 to flash a custom ROM though. Get over to Modaco, flash the ROM with Highmem and JIT enabled... it quadriples available memory and double's stock CPU speed! I lie not!
At some point I'll upload screenies of my Linpack results before and after custom ROM flashes.

I received my N1 the day after announcement and I've been very happy with the purchase. Solid device without any of the common issues.
If there's one thing to put your mind at ease is that on topical forums the loudest voice is usually the one that requires assistance or advice. A member that has no issues will likely remain a lurker. It's a very false impression of the landscape. Google sold somewhere around 20,000 N1s in the first week so consider the ratio of problem handsets to working handsets and how often someone will start a new thread just to say nothing is wrong. It rarely happens.
I still don't believe that figure of 20,000 anyway. I think it was much higher. That is based on apps that were sold in the first week... an odd way to try and figure how many units where shifted, but Google wont release any figures I don't think.
I love my N1 and have no problems with it, even with it being rooted with a experimental ROM.

I'm on cyan 5.3 with himem 2.69 and jit and it's a screamer! Lincat at 17
Yea, I've been the same. Worried. After all this negative feed back, well the only thing really irritating me is the dust thing. Is it yet fixed on newer phones? Other than that, these other problems don't seem.. important.
I replaced two iPhone 3G's with N1's.
Wife took the first one I ordered and she's a diehard Mac fan, and ever since discovering DoubleTwist on the Mac and as an Andriod app she's very happy.
My phones are all stock (even though I'd like to root 'em), for now
Waited a long time for a powerful fast customizable device like this! It easily replaced my 2 WM PPC's.
How does the N1 really compare to the iPhone

Why does everything have to be compared to the iphone?
Read the specs for the iphone, then the N1 and search youtube. Not too hard right?
Or maybe search the forum and read the other 1,000 post that are the same as yours?

I feel this exact same way. Rather irritating this iphone comparison to everything, any phone of interest in the population must be compared to what.. the iphone.

Out of curiosity

Exactly how long has the nexus s been available? And has anyone tried it out? I love my evo but just wanted some user experience....
Also I know this is a evo section, but wanted to see if anyone who has it can give a little detail to its comparison. Didnt want a nexus s owner who hasnt had the pleasure of owning a evo

No worries homeski! Thread is already created.
I got mine on release day. Love it.
Screen is aweseom.
Battery out performs the EVO.
Everything the EVO will do this thing will do.
Overclocked to 1.3Ghz and scored a 3356 on Quadrant.

Ok wel i have a free line guess i will try it for 30 days
I helped my mother-in-law upgrade from a Katana to the Nexus 4G this past Sunday. It was my mothers day present to her. I have to say, I was really impressed with 1) the slimness, 2) the lightweight feel and C) how responsive it was.
I am eligible for a full upgrade now, but I am waiting to see the EVO 3D before I decide between the Nexus and 3D. My EVO is holding up quite well until then.
For some reason, I wasn't a fan of how light it was. To me, the weight of the nexus makes it feel cheap

Yea.... cause that's possible. I'm pretty sure everyone here with a Nexus 5 will be thinking about their Nexus 6 that SHOULD be on its way to their hands every time they look at their phone. lol
Ha, I remember seeing that on reddit last week.
Try Nexus 4...
Funny, but not necessary.

Ahah much hard work :silly: , for me Samsung not respect the ETA . Marshmallow it's released about much months .
And the performance it's a bit faster system, Samsung does not take care of performance and everyday use , he think only with the graphics & ui . And who tell it's fast and much battery drain , for me not tried the Nexus Phone's .

It was being spammed by some guy who thought it was funny to keep announcing he had just got the ota. For what it's worth, it would be good to have a thread where we could check in and see it had actually arrived somewhere. This one will work as good as any.
@malybru why are so many marshmellow thread on this section?

But you never know. Samsung might grow a conscience!
