T-Mobile Nexus 6 Launch DELAYED - Nexus 6 General

T-Mobile was supposed to start trading phones for money-dollars tomorrow (November 12th), but that's not happening anymore. The company has just announced that it's pushed back the N6 launch by one week to November 19th.
The reason given for this is that the carrier wants to give customers "the best experience possible." This probably refers to the strong likelihood that very few units would be ready for purchase in T-Mobile stores tomorrow. Rather than have a substantial portion of customers annoyed that they were unable to get the phone on launch day, T-Mobile has opted to just annoy everyone by changing the date at the last moment.
It's possible T-Mobile is seeing stock shortages even more severe than previously reported. There might not have been any other option but to postpone. In that case, blame falls on Motorola, and to a lesser extent, Google.

This has been covered many times today.

Vodafone UK recall?

Just been speaking to Vodafone to check my order status, as they were supposed to call when more stock was due yesterday. Been told by one of the managers that they were told late yesterday that they now have no future stock dates, as HTC were seeking to fix 'hardware issues' with the phone. She used the word recall when referring to existing Vodafone phones, and then mentioned the camera explicitly.
So for those of us with unfulfilled orders the wait continues.
And for those whose phones see the world with a pink hue, a hint of things to come? Anyone else spoken to Voda in the last 24 hrs?
I thought the pink hue was a software issue, or at last that is what HTC were reported to have said a few days back and they said they would be releasing a fix. If it is a hardware issue I wonder if the same recall is going to apply to HD2s from other networks, like O2 for example? And if those already sold are going to be swapped?
I'm not too fussed anyway as the hue on mine is barely noticeable, but I have seen photos from some where it's frankly terrible. Despite the quality of a camera on a phone being fairly low on my list of important features, if I owned one of those I would be interested in a swap.
I assume the Vodafone dont know what is really happening, I dont think HTC would lie about this huge issue.
After a week of tests on my handset that I sent to HTC repairs. HTC are returning it back to me without them doing anything apart from installing logging software that identifies the sms issue.
It has been explained to me several times that it [camera] is a software issue that can only be fixed with a patch that will be released as soon as they can, they are working on it.
I had a call from Voda yesterday (since I emailed a complaint to the UK CEO, I get regular update calls lol) to say that the stock they were expecting hadn't turned up and that the next delivery *should* be 2nd December
Edit: got another call this afternoon from the nice girl who is keeping an eye on my order to inform me that they may get some earlier than the 2nd, she's going to call me back on Monday.
I have a HD2 from Vodafone and mine is ok ok no problems with the camera. Got it last week
Only yesterday, I was told 11th December by a Vodafone rep, middle of next week by a T-Mobile rep, and possibly monday by an O2 rep.
All of these companies were meant to give me a call as soon as the hansets came in. It turns out I've missed 1 delivery by T-Mobile, 2 by O2, and 3 by Vodafone even though I ordered with them some 3 weeks ago!!!
I also thought the camera was an issue that HTC are working on. If there was to be a recall t would be for all phones, as Vodafone ones aren't branded.
Damn this is turning out to be a hard phone to get.
I had put an order i with Voda Business and voda general public. The latter said it would be with me by Sat, i called on the Friday to confirm and was told that a small batch came in but wasn't available to their department therefore wasn't available for me and they projected the next batch would be in around the 11th of Dec.
I then called back to make my feelings heard and was told that one would be with me by Monday and was already in transit. This it turns out was the phone i ordered through the business department which must have priority over regular customers.
I haven't heard anything regarding recalls etc but haven't spoken to them since Friday, so i'm really hoping it will be here on Monday. If not i won't be happy!!!!
Just to confirm the 11 december date. Vodafone UK informed me on 27/11 (which I had been previously told was the date the HD2 shipment where due into their warehouse) that this will not now be until 11/12.
However if there are hardware issues this may well drift into 2010.
I'd hazard a guess the delay is due to some of the bugs noted in this forum seen on the first shipped ROM.
As many people have said here - the average mobile consumer expects their device to just 'work' when it comes to the basics (calls, sms etc). Vodafone aren't doing their own ROM but instead taking what HTC have provided; this means bugs and all. Trouble is while the average WM user who has paid £500 from Expansys etc would come here to look to fix such bugs, the average Vodafone user would be on the phone / back to the Vodafone shop complaining that their phone is "rubbish, doesn't work, can't use it, refund please". I'd therefore guess this is why they are delaying accepting HTC shipments - until their own QA people are happy.
For the record - while I understand this view - I personally would MUCH prefer them to just send me a phone and I'll update it to later firmware when available. But that's just my personal preference! Guess such things are the price you pay when a high end tech gadget like the HD2 attempts to make it into the mainstream consumer market - you're never going to please everyone. On the one hand HTC should have probably done a bit better with their QA, on the other hand no doubt they were under pressure to release. Whichever way they could have jumped their would have been complainers!! I mean, the people on here complaining about basic bugs - would they have been happier if the phone was delayed until say March next year?! Maybe some would've been, but probably not most.
IMO HTC have to keep people on-board by providing updated ROMS / Hotfixes quickly - weeks not months.
Just my opinion..
How long do these hotfixes take to come? I mean, shouldn't some HTC programming team be able to fix all this in ONE DAY?? (*providing it is software problems of course).
I am stuck here with a faulty handset that O2 can't replace because they have no stock. I'm just wondering whether to ditch it and go with another manufacturer. Even if it was working perfectly (which I somehow doubt will happen) it's still a total nightmare typing on the virtual keyboard. I have to correct virtually every word I type and for a previously hardcore texter, I have actually come to loathe texting. It has become a chore!

Sounds like the HD2 isn't for you re. txt'ing. I felt similar around 2 yrs ago (in that I hated touch screen phones for txt'ing) but have since come round. Each to their own.
Re. the hotfixes etc, sadly turning them around in a single day just isn't realistic. Maybe on a home-brew app, but it is with these sorts of timelines which lead to the mistakes in the first place. I'd say you'd be looking at a turnaround time of 2 weeks MINIMUM from bug identification to public release, most probably longer. While it certainly isn't ideal I'd be happy if they turned things round in <1 month.
I know, I know, not ideal the bugs are there in the first place, but such is life!
hmm... I can undestand what youre saying and I can agree in some of it. But if it is a hardware error with the camera, is dosen´t fit under the decription "bug" in my opinion
As to whriting on the HD2 I totally disagree, it´s so nice and i whrite very fast on it

Hi Madindehead - is there a way of checking my vodafone internet usage? Cant seem to find it online on my account page?! I know there is a fair usage policy of 500MB but when I checked my phone this morning the notification tab stated I had been connected to the HSDPA network for 6 hours?! am I right in thinking this is just the connection being kept alive?
Also is there any software out there that can monitor my 3G connection?
I wouldn't worry too much about the FUP to be honest, I don't know anyone who got told off for going over. Plus I think that if everybody tries to stay below it they'll never change it, on the other hand if the majority of people goes over it they might "officially" raise it.
Got mine this morning, woot. Would have had it yesterday but Royal Mail suck...

Correct, I ordered mine on-line last night and have an RM tracking number for it to be delivered tomorrow morning
I got mine from Vodafone yesterday, not branded in anyway at all.
My mate got his too from Vodafone on Monday.
Problems I have so far
1. Can't send SMS messages at all!
2. Bluetooth wont switch on
No issue with the camera so far, battery life not too bad.
Can't get any twitter or facebook updates to notify me when screen locked, but then I havent read the manual!!
Lovely phone though

You're lucky then! I've ordered through Vodafone business, and they can't access the online stock (why not?) and won't get their own stock until 14th December.
Frustrating.

Production Cycles

Does anyone know how production cycles (either for Nexus S or in general) work? In other words, what's considered the second batch/wave of Nexus S being shipped to Best Buy? How early do kinks/issues get hammered out in the production cycle (I guess this depends on how closely Samsung is getting feedback too)? If one were to buy a Nexus S a month from its release date (say mid January 2011, for example's sake), would they be getting a different unit, presumably better, with the kinks/reported issues worked out? How long/many months would it be, give or take, before we can expect a Nexus S with early reported issues addressed?
I'm just trying to understand the relationship between production and markets a little more.
I don't think the second batch would be a better unit per say. If they made a ton right now, then Samsung can slowly manufacture new ones while waiting to hear if there were any major defects, but if they are being sold out in Best Buy stores. I can see the second batch not having any fixes if there were any that needed to be applied. Actually, they could be in production right now. Perhaps by the third or fourth wave, there would be fixes, if any.
According to this Vibrant user, he got a better gps antenna (or something) with the October manufacture ship date. I believe there was also a July and September ship dates for the Vibrant, but don't quote me on that. I know July is fact, but not sure about September.
Just my guess.
I see, thanks. Then I guess there's no real difference getting this phone from now and January.

Phone ordered, has been delayed twice!?!

I order my unactivated AT&T 8GB model and its been delayed twice already, and no one at dell is helpful, they just try to get me off the phone and don't have any actual reason besides saying its delayed, and then in one spot it says "in production" and in another spot it says "in pre production" I ordered it on 8/28 with next day delivery?! and now its saying shipping date for the phone is 9/21 when you try to make a new order, so I'm wondering how I could even have mine before that even though it says delivery date: 9/13 (updated) from the 9/4 it was originally.
I also kept asking them if maybe the delay was from a mango software update but the non English speaking reps didn't even know what that was and had no idea. Do we have any solid evidence that maybe this is the case and this is why its taking so long?
Welcome to perils of purchasing a DVP. Guess Dell hasn't improved much since its launch.

Indeed. Same thing when I bought my DVP too - delayed twice with no explanation. Although everyone was quite polite, trying to get progress information out of Dell was like trying to get blood out of a stone
Took over a month to arrive...
Part of the problem is that no one wants to help, they swear it will be shipped on a certain date and it isnt, and I have not spoke with one AMERAICAN person on the phone and its annoying, I tell them to speak clearly but they do not, seriously dell has the worst tech support or phone reps ever. Half of them only know how to do 1 thing and 1 thing only, I bet half of them at "Dell Mobility" support havent even seen the phone and dont even know what OS it runs unless its somehow in the order.
I got mine next day I was actually surprised.
That's weird. I ordered mine on Sunday, and it's being delivered tomorrow. Mine is T-Mobile, though. I dunno if that matters.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
it does say tmobile verisons are shipping sooner but I dont see why any version should be delayed this long. I feel naked with only 1 phone right now :/
It is my understanding that phones may see delayed ship dates due to Mango being installed on them. I believe that Dell may be one of the first to supply Mango to existing hardware.
thats what I heard and thought but everytime I ask a dell rep either via an online chat or over the phone they have no idea what that means
I have 5 ATT ones that keep getting pushed back. They were ordered one at a time over a month.. but it looks like they are all coming on the 29th now.. hopefully.
Got a few t-mobile ones in that timeframe and they came in pretty fast.
oddly all the ATT phones showed up today. So much for dell holding them to put Mango on
hmmm... well mine still hasn't shipped, even a rep on twitter said she was gonna try to expedite it, but no change in order status, one place it says in production and the other says in pre production. But also the weird thing is, one their website all they have are unlocked versions now with att or tmobile bands. The Tmobile specific or ATT specific versions no longer exsist so I wonder whats gonna happen to mine that was att specific just unactivated full retail.
It's my understanding that the reason for the delay is due to DVP being shipped with Mango installed and since MS hasn't officially released Mango update yet, they are waiting so that it would coincide with the release date. Then again, it may all be just speculations.
Ya well no one seems to know 100% and now my order has yet again been delayed to the 16th, this is the 4th delay. Dell support is garbage I want everyone to know and avoid them don't give them any more business!
I ordered a replacement under warranty on the 2nd and they told they were backordred to the 16th and to call back then to have it actually shipped out. I'm thinking they are basically holding everything back for Mango, at least on the AT&T side.
That makes sense. Means you'll get the Mango firmware without having to wait for AT&T's notoriously-slow 'testing' process.
Wondering if Dell are not explaining the delays because they have a non-disclosure agreement with Microsoft about the Mango release date. Otherwise, you would think they would publicly announce that phones were being held back to a specific date for Mango.
well more and more things keep saying that mango will be this week but I'm so frustrated that my phones been delayed for pretty much weeks now, I don't want to keep waiting, I know its a good update but I can do it myself.
I'm not sure how relevant my experience is to this topic, but I did place an order today for a subsidized DVP through Dell moblity's phone line. I got a English as his first language rep who seemed pretty knowledgeable. First I wanted to know if the DVP was still being subsidized through AT&T since it was no longer showing online, he confirmed that it was still $0.99 with contract for AT&T and T-mobile. I then asked if there would be any delay on the shipping (siting that I read some folks online were having an issue). He explained that there was a firmware update(not mango) that both carriers needed to approve and AT&T took longer to approve it than t-mobile.
Needless to say, my order has been placed as of 1PM eastern 9/12 and the estimated arrival time is 9/15, hopefully just in time for Mango *fingerscrossed*.
I just tried to place an order for an 8 GB model and the rep advised me due to backorders, it wouldn't ship for approx. 10 days. I chose to back out since I have an order for a 32 GB that keeps getting delayed (but I'd rather wait for) that is currently slated to ship around the same time as this one would have been delayed.

VZW Info

From what I understand it will be available Dec 13th.
This is what the chat rep said when I just asked her when it'll be available on VZW
EDIT: asked her about pre-orders too and she said she is unsure, but to check on Thursday cause that's when they expect it.
I spoke with a rep also at Costco about 4 days ago and he said they expect to see them in a week or so

The 13th is a Saturday not Thursday. Chat reps are extremely unreliable sources. Seems unlikely they'd launch a device on a Saturday anyway.

That's what I said too, initially.
Skeptical, I asked her why this is. She said the phone is in such high demand that they haven't been able to get stock ready to release it both in-store and online (which is another reason she said they may or may not do pre-orders.) FWIW, I would take it with a grain of salt, but this is a lot better than the response I got last week with them saying it isn't in their system so they do not know/have any idea.
VZW has done it in the past, but just confirming what was said by the redditor.
EDIT: for that reason, I will be watching Wednesday night and Friday morning of next week.
I'm still sporting a December 15th, 2011, Galaxy Nexus from a local corporate store, no repairs or replacements, and it was unlocked and rooted on day one. It's got a few problems, but still works everyday. I'm just wondering what VZW is up to with the Nexus 6 at this point. Is this just another "additional testing" delay, a supply and demand delay, a device QC delay, or all of the above? Or maybe something worse like additional "lock down" software changes? Yes, I know there's only one US model, and yes I know about the carrier software install at setup and how to avoid it (I've read just about everything I can find), but I just don't trust VZW at this point. This GNex still works because of the work done by ME, not because of VZW support of a hobbled Nexus device.
At this point all we can do is speculate until the Nexus 6 finally shows up at Verizon. Could be all of those things you mentioned. Could be they wanted to give the Droid Turbo less competition, or it could be none of those things. Time will tell.
Just crossing my fingers that they'll have the 64GB version available.
Our moto rep just said not to expect them until quarter 1, maybe February. I'm hoping he's wrong...
As stated anything is pure speculation, but if that was the case VZW would have a weird timeline with phones in their history. Historically, they have always gotten devices close to last. I think they were one of the last carriers to have the iPhone, but I don't think that dealt with stock/holding off because they wanted to push their other phones. There was an article about the iPhone and how most carriers lose money with the subsidized price on the actual device, but make more than enough back by the contract. All phone companies are about signing contracts, as that is where they make the most of their money. If you cancel your phone, there are not too many external costs associated with that, but they want to ensure that they get their moneys worth for losing that device/the profit from your remainder of your contract. Holding off on devices actually just hurts them in the long-run, as more devices = more appeal to more demographics = more contract sign-ups, but I think it deals more with contractual agreements, like securing the phone, branding the phone, etc most of the time, but I feel like this might just deal with the low stock. This thing is practically sold out everywhere and hard to find.
Just visited the local verizon store and they said Nexus 6 will be available in the next week or so.
Pic or it never happened...

I'm rocking my GNex as well, no issues, on shiny KK, and awaiting a new FML build to jump to 5.0 or 5.0.1 as the case may be.
The fun part is waiting, and reading, because even IF I left it encrypted - I'm coming from a GNex, I don't think I'be able to tell that it may be lagging a bit
(But I'm unlocking, rooting and reflashing that bugger for no encryption anyways .... depending on how VZ does or doesn't screw us again)
We just trimmed my wife's GN sim for her new N6. She wasn't happy with her GN, too many issues (poor reception, etc), and way overdue for an upgrade.

Anyone else rather disappointed at how Google handled the release?

I find it quite unprofessional to have people pre order a device in September and have them arrive 2 months later. How can you announce your best phone ever (for both companies) and be so woefully prepared for the demand it might incur? I'm having second thoughts on getting the phone since I have no idea when I might receive mine since Google and Huawei have yet to get their act together in rolling out the product
Have you tried buying any previous nexus? By far the best release yet!
Doesn't your pre-order have a date? That would be the latest you would have your unit shipped.
No, I'm OK with it.
Yep, best by far. Especially after being involved with the 4, 5 and 6 failed launches!
This is my favorite so far. No issues thus far.
Best handling it this way rather than having people refresh the page every second because product went out of stock within 2 minutes of release.(previous nexus releases)
Very happy.
Order date: Sep 29, 2015 1:05:16 PM CDT Estimated delivery date: November 10 – 12, 2015.
Phone will be delivered to me tomorrow.
Ordering process yes. However... Shipping order is jacked up AGAIN. Ordered 9/29 within 15 min of link going live. 32GB Graphite. There are people with tracking information that purchased 10/21 and have shipping confimation while mine sits in processing purgatory. Card was final charged 3 days ago. Still hasn't gone anywhere. This happens to me every year.
Almost as bad as a Best Buy launch ....
I don't mind this release style at all. I really don't see what OP concern is. Google has turned a 'quickest to order before servers crash' to 'just order and be patient, we won't charge you'

Disappointment? That would imply I had expectations which conflict with what was promised. I have no such expectations.
In the announcement event, they simply said "later in October" concerning ship dates. During the preorder process, everything was clearly spelled out. How could I be disappointed? My only expectation is that the products I ordered will arrive safely by the time they indicated.
I'm pleased with the order process this time around. As for delays well that is common on pre orders these days. I'm just happy that I got to order, much better than trying to catch a one or two minute in stock window like in the past.
Disappointed, nah. one of the biggest tech company in world can't handle preorder. How the hell do you sell out preorder? Just take the damn order and give a 4-5 weeks eta. Don't tell me you can't get huawei to make your phones in 5 weeks.
I'm rather disappointed that Germany was not a part of the countries that could preorder it first. I simply don't get it...
It's a pain yes. But it happens this way every year. I'm just surprised they haven't fixed it much over the years. I'm waiting on a Frost 64GB - No one has gotten a Frost yet, so we'll see if the ship date is hit, Nov 2.

Like previous people have mentioned. Most (if not all) of the Nexus launches were pretty terrible.
I wasn't expecting much so no .. not disappointed.
I ordered, was given an estimated ship date and it has shipped early. I call that a success.

You do realise that these were pre-orders, right? This is exactly how the concept of a pre-order works.
Dissapointed, yes. The roll out in the US might be not that bad. But there are other countries besides US. In Europe we are still waiting to preorder. Such a slow rollout. Google needs to learn from Apple and bring their **** together and roll out the devices from day one.
