[Update][Prerooted flashable zip][deodex][23.0.1.A.0.167][(NCB) for Z2 tablet SGP511] - Xperia Z2 Tablet General

Hi
Here is flasable zip file wich install latest ROM 23.0.1.A.0.167, latest beta SuperSu v2.19 and latest beta Dualrecovery .154 for Tablet Z2 with read/write acces to system.
This is tested and works just fine though make nandroid backup before flashing.
Install it by flashing whole zip file with custom recovery. Wipes aren´t necessary but good practise.
Here is the link:https://mega.co.nz/#!EB4CiJgT!Tvav1NKMqhwnXNGBNU6-iIrRTNv0qJuOvHttGUlGnA0
Deodex patch for above rom to those who want to use modifications which are made only for deodexed rom´s.
This is tested and works just fine but make nandroid backup before flashing.
Warning: this will delete all files from system/app, system/framework and priv-app not just .odex files. That´s include Superuser.apk. So you will loose root if you don´t flash SuperSu after flashing deodex patch.
Install deodex patch by:
- flashing deodex.zip file in custom recovery,
- don´t reboot to system but flash also flashable Super.Su.zip file in custom recovery,
- don´t reboot to system but wipe at least dalvik-cache,
- reboot to system.
Here is the link to deodex patch: https://mega.co.nz/#!0BJyhJZC!LGISUimx7-YQFQrE5cVisS7R-87bRiJLraUAcxGyIIw
If you need to download SuperSu you will find download links
for stable v2.16 here: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
for beta v2.19 here: http://download.chainfire.eu/593/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.19.zip

I will try this thanks

This work on my SGP561?
Sent from my SGP561 using XDA Premium HD app

I have tried and root works, everything's fine, except audio, is too low and when is turning off, take a long time to turn it off, even I have to force off i dont know why it happens...

Thanks very much for this. Much better than having to unlock bootloader etc so we get to keep root. Gonna flash it to my sgp512 and report back. Is build.prop the only thing I need to change afterwards to make it look like an sgp512.

Thank you very much! I'm gonna try it...
Edit:
Works great!

Thank´s all for you feedback.
I don´t think this will work on your device. Different hardware.

Haven´t tested this. As far as I know only difference is memory size.

Yeah it works fine. Way better than an FTF! Sony PC companion and a few other apps report it as SPG511 instead of SGP512 and it annoys me! I need to edit the build.prop to hopefully fix this. And I can confirm I too get the bug where the device won't sleep when you shut the factory case. It wakes it though! I'm sure Sony will release an update to fix it soon.

Just wanted to say thanks and let everybody know that you get a writable system partition with this Rom. The update worked fine and I must still rooted with a locked bootloader.
The only problem with this update is that the screen stays on if I close the case but I guess Sony will fix this some time.

Thank´s for you feedback. I made most of these files for my personal use but happy that my work helps other´s too.
Yes I make small chance to @Nut´s dualrecovery installer and so we have system RW.
About that bug with Sony´s official case, I hope Sony will fix that soon.

Gonna flash this now is there anyway to make remote play ps4 work with supersu app installed can we hide the supersu app from it or what?

I just want to let you know that I have the official case from Sony, the 23.0.1.A.0.167 firmware and I don't have this problem of screen staying on while closing the case.
For witch reason do you think it's a Sony bug ?

You need to flash everything in that flashable.zip file. Wipes are optional but good practice.
To answer your second question I already made deodex patch for this firmware. Testing it right now and if it´s okey I can share it with you if you want.

Wel two reasons. This is Sony stock firmware just added root and custom recovery. Other reason is that there is report in Q & A section about same problem after OTA update to .167 firmware. If you now something more about this please share.

Don´t have ps4 so can´t test it. I know there is xposed module called RootCloak which can hide root for some app´s but reported that not all of them.

Ok, I don't knew that it was reported with the fully stock firmware.
I've updated my tab with PC Companion. Maybe it's the reason why I don't have this problem.
Anyway, thanks for the answer and for sharing your work.

I added deodex patch to op for this rom. Anyone who are going to try it should read instructions carefully.

you know how you said flash everything in the zip that includes kernels right but how do i flash.elf kernels if im on locked bootloader is it possible to enter fastboot on lockedbl i dont wanna brick messing with kernels?

I flashed the zip on my SGP512 (dirty flashed over 17.1.2.A.0.314, only wiped cache and dalvik) and everything works perfect (my system info now tells me that I have a SGP511, but I couldn't care less, my device still has 32GB and not just 16GB)
thanks a lot! :good:

[Guide]Root 14.4.A.0.157 [LB / UBL]

For rooting 14.4.A.0.157 update go to this thread by @Waledac but use following kernels for your device (Z1 Compact):
MOD EDIT @gregbradley
Please re-upload to another download site that does not require a redirect to a commercial site.
Please check your PMs
Thread closed until this is fixed
Thanks that worked fine for me,
i finally took the kernel only from the customized_de Firmware, don't know if there is any difference between these files.
My Z1C was rootet, then the Update to x.157 came and i couldn't update it via OTA or PCC. So i flashed the new Firmware with the flashtool and my root was gone.
All other Root Tools like towelroot, newroot or easyroottooll didn't work.
So it finally worked with your little instruction. Thanks!
Root is back
Thanks alot. After upgrading to .157 via PC Companion (OTA didn't work) I lost my root. This brought it back, while all other tools failed.
With another firmware
I update myphone to 157 via flashtool but with a BAL firmware, is this solution still working? it doesn't matter if my actual firmware is customized or not?

random reboot
Fllowed the steps, used the proper kernel from this thread and I get only Reboots after screen lock appears...
Any ideas?
Is there something new?
It worked perfectly for me
Thank you very much
Thanks for the kernels..
Hi,
I was on 108. Updated to 157 through PC companion, lost root and got root back by following the steps in the OP link with the files provided here. A couple of questions I have:
1. How to get CWM back?
2. Is it safe to apply mods for 108 on this such as the mod for a single screen status bar, dark apps for dialers etc?
Thanks for the work and for any insights.

hard brick?
followed the linked guide, but flashed the 108 kernel for the big z1 on my z1c, and now phone wont boot. Is it possible to fix that?
---------- Post added at 02:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:06 AM ----------
never mind, managed to fix it with flashtool, even though I probably was REALLY close to a hard brick (no boot, no flash mode, just fastboot (blue led))
worked for me too thanks!
although I couldn't download the files from the OP I got them from Xperifirm..
the OTA wouldn't verify (not deodexed) so had to update from PCC and follow this..
I used the CE1 version from Xperifirm..

Update: Flashed 108 kernel again, verified still rooted, installed CWM following info available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
Subsequent to that, flashed 157 kernel again.
Now having the 157 kernel, with root and CWM and have been flashing various mods that were working earlier on 108 with no issues so far (have installed the dark apps mod for clock, dialer, calender etc and the mod for having a single tab notification/status bar with 6 icons in a row).
Been about 5 days since I did this and so far, everything is working fine.
APV..
Worked like a charm. Thank you!

Hi! Have you found the answer? I'm in the same situation, maybe someone can help!

[ROM][GPe] Android 5.0.1 Update - Lollipop (OTA from Google)

My GPe m7 just got the update notification. I pulled the file from /cache, and here it is.
The SHA1 checksum is in the filename, bad1c593ad07005d8e82754c36caa7e7db9b6cc2. This is not a test release or a beta, so as far as I can tell, I'm the first uploader! My phone is the international m7, running 4.4.4.
NOTE: this is an OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1. It requires the stock recovery from 4.4.4, and so will cannot be installed by people that rooted or manually converted their phone to the Google Play edition. (This means me, in fact. I can't install this! But I'm uploading it in the hopes that a developer can apply the patches manually and make a flashable ROM.) This includes firmware, so installing as a Nandroid backup may or may not work.
EDIT: people in this thread have already uploaded the file and are trying to install it. I suggest browsing there, because here in this thread we haven't figured it out yet!

Link has been changed to androidfilehost, so you can try again. And unfortunately, the installer requires the stock GPe recovery, version 4.4.4. Does anyone know where to find that? I found 4.4.2's recovery by searching the internet, but that doesn't help.

[Latest][5.1.1][BUGFIX][Prerooted][23.4.A.0.570][Z2 Wifi Tablet][SGP511]

Hi,
here is the flashable *.zip file wich installs latest Sony Bugfix Release of Stock 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM 23.4.A.0.570 (Japan), latest SuperSu v2.49 beta (works stable for me since weeks!) and latest NUT Dualrecovery 2.8.21 with read and write access to system. Because device is Wi-Fi only region doesn´t matter. Only difference is maybe pre installed bloatware by region.
Thx to PRF Creator and Flashtool.
UPDATE - FILE DELETED. Please use Release from kulvertti
Of course i tested the release before uploading on my own Device. So far no errors found after upgrading.
I am not responsible for any damage to your Device or your Data! Be careful and make a Backup before flashing!
Tested now for some hours. Runs very stable.

No. The Checksum Creation is not needed and only optional at PRF Creator. Never needed it for myself.
I'd also like the MD5. After I download, I'll post it. But if anyone else already has it, please post.
Here's what I show:
d00b36c07fa696f5803eb7671be2c518
Obviously, it could have an error and be corrupted, but I expect it's right. I guess if I flash it OK, then we'll know.
Couldn't the "No service"in the lockscreen be fixed by a module in xposed, like Xperia Xposed? I know the author would have to add it, but there's no harm in suggesting it?

quick question
Sorry for the amateur hour question, but I am 100% new to this rooting bussiness.
Do I need to Root my Z2 tablet before I do this?
Is there anywhere a ELI5 guide for someone who has never rooted a device before and is therefore ignorant about all the terms (Prerooted, ROM, Kernel, Flashing, etc)
my tablet is updated to 5.1.1 build 23.4.A.0.546

BTW, I already tried using KingRoot and it fails at about 16%

No gurantee. Better pack your own with the Tools from first Post. It's easy.
Just flashed .570 last night and this morning I'm not getting 5gHz Wi-Fi. My dual band router is serving both bands to other devices, so that works; it's successfully serving my SGP511 at 2.4gHz. Anybody else? More importantly, any ideas how to diagnose the problem (I'm stumped)?
Check your Router. No problems here using 2.4 and 5.

You're being misguided here a little bit.
You will not be able to install dual recovery because you will not be able to gain root. Your device is having lollipop, so exploits used to for gaining root will not work in your case.
What you need to do is to downgrade from LP to some kitkat version where the exploits will work. Then you'll be able to install dual recovery and only after that you'll be able to flash pre-rooted lollipop.
To downgrade you need to use FTF from FTF collection (version prior to or equal 17.1.A.0.402)

EDIT: Just realized it's a lot bigger than I thought. 68MB. I think zip attachment here has a 20MB limit.
All good, u can Dropbox it or upload elsewhere. It may come handy to someone. Appreciate the good intentions and efforts

Would this work on the AT&T XT1058?
Also, I cannot see the attachment, can you please mirror it on dropbox/mega/etc?
Thank you!

Will not work. It's a different ROM. And no problem to receive similar 222.26.7 OTA on XT1058 - available already.

I'm rooted and on TWRP recovery. Tried flashing stock recovery and installing the ota but the ota fails :S
Can anyone tell me how to extract the ota files from cache ? All I see there is a 4mb zip file which when I try to flash I get an error.
ota wont work with root, exposed and such. BL unlocked is ok. This ota has been problematic there are instructions on how to take it.
In my case I just flashed from scratch Lolipop 5.1 for moto x 1058 rogers, then took OTA . Then twrp ,root...
I'm kinda trying to avoid losing everything every time motorola pushes an update.
I wouldn't need to be rooted if they fixed their ****ty bugs like the cell services taking 40% of the battery...
I hear you man. You are on point, I noticed this Ota fixed my non ability to hang up calls

Flash service ROM native to your existing verison, but take only four partitions: system, kernel, recovery, modem (very important to have all 4 genuinly intact), and OTA will install easily. Use mfastboot to flash partition files.
AT&T XT1058? Search for XT1058_GHOST_ATT_5.1_LPA23.12-21.1_cid1_CFC.xml.zip on XDA, or google.
Canadian XT1058 has this one service ROM: XT1058_GHOST_RCICA_5.1_LPA23.12-15_cid14_CFC.xml.zip

But I wouldn't recommend to receive OTA. On unlocked bootloader you can install any custom ROM with vulnerability patched already.
Don't mix official, and non-official way to treat smartphone - kinda general advice. Latest OTA can break the security zone, and you'll loose ability to play with ROMs.
Advice on which ROM to try? Only thing I care about is the active display thing. So the must haves is active display or similar, and the ability to update without losing all my data. I'm not big on having to re-do everything, including my android wear settings/apps.

Check this topic, or you can try experimental ROM (baked by Crash][), version for TWRP install. Both variants are stock based, so incompatibility should be minimal.
Cache wipe can be done freely, but don't wipe data or internal storage - you'll loose your information. Make a full TWRP backup first, and save it on external media

Wow Asus working overtime
Not really, this happened with last update too.
Someone tried rooting this system? I have bootloop after every attempt :/
I have noticed a better performance with release 2.20.40.164. The battery is not draining as in previous version. I am happy with this.

Which method have you been using?
Method 1 from this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/root-newbie-root-instructions-zenfone-2-t3114063 It always worked

I have been using the Method 3 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596
The root persists after every OTA. So no need to un-root and root again, after any OTA.
rooting does well, but i getting bootloped when install xposed v79.
ps : currently rolled back to .156 using pre-root then updating again to .165
wish me luck
You mean 1 Click Root Tool for Zenfone 2? Thanks for info, I will try and inform the rest of the community
once again for everyone: ONE-CLICK root (Zenfone_quickroot.zip) doens't work on .165!
@piway I'm doing the same righ now haha...

This is confusing. As far as I know, the 1-click root package is called "ZenFoneRootKit.zip". This is what's described in Method 3.
I've never heard of "Zenfone_quickroot.zip"...
Now is Method 3 (ZenFoneRootKit) usable for .165 or is it not?
@Shaxine, thank you. Method 3rd (ZenFoneRootKit) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596 works good on .165.
This is s.h.i.t > http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/root-newbie-root-instructions-zenfone-2-t3114063 - bootloop is certain.
@piway thank you for info about xposed. Now we have to wait for an update xposed :<
They Should provide use Marshmallow Instead :'(

Show some respect for the developers they are doing and sharing it for free in their free time if you don't like go make one for yourself and use it :silly::silly:
xposed v79 and root are both working for me on the 165 update. I did my typical dance to upgrade from 164 to 165:
Boot tethered twrp
Do a full backup
"install" the xposed-uninstaller
Reboot
Wait for apps to be optimized
Go into SuperSU and do full uninstall
Reboot
Let the upgrader install the update
Reboot and wait for apps to be optimized
Boot tethered twrp
Install SuperSU
Install xposed
Reboot
Wait for apps to be optimized
Because of the backup and optimizing apps three times, the whole process takes an hour or more. The tethered TWRP also requires a computer. This method of running TWRP gives me some of the benefits of an unlocked bootloader---easy rooting and easy install of xposed---without having to actually unlock my boot loader and (possibly) void my warranty. I can understand some people preferring the ease of the one-click type installers, but I've not had good luck with them.
I put up the tethered package I use in a post on the tethered TWRP thread. Some of the components are updated, and it seems more reliable than the original tethered package.
I can confirm that xposed 79 it's working. And I was able to update as usual.
