Thanks for posting this clone info!
I would have never believed this device would be cloned, I thought only high end devices were cloned.
I was about to buy one of these but after reading this thread I checked with the seller on DHgate just before purchasing and discovered it was a clone!!!
Here is the conversation: I removed the names because this guy told the truth *when asked*. To bad the listing did not state it was a clone!:
Hey ****,
Is this a genuine XIAOMI HONGMI RED RICE NOTE MTK6592 Octa Core 13MP OTG Smartphone 5.5Inch 3200mah Cell with 1.7 gig 8 core processor and 2 gigabytes of ram.
I heard there are clones?
===================================================================================
Thanks for the message.
Be honest the phone is high clone one, do you need original one? we can provide you, but the price is higher than this one.
Thanks for cooperation and supporting.
Best Regards,
========================================================================================
Thanks for the truth.
That's what makes people afraid to buy from places like this one, you never really know what your going to get,
How much is the real one?
=============================================================================================
Please kindly note the price is $235 per unit.
May i know do you want buy now? We need to arrange it at priority.
Waiting for your confirmation.
Best Regards,

Racism? Meizu makes good phones but it would probably be a nightmare getting warranty support since they are based in China. At $600 I wouldn't get one either.

It's a bit more complicated: you need to post the phone and will get back after repair...
IMHO, Meizu is a very good firm; I have an MP4 player from them, the M3 Music Card. The pure quality of the device, and the SOUND quality is amazing. Simple amazing.
The phone contains the same Wolfson chip which in the MP3 players.
Currently I am waiting for their quad-core Meizu MX 32 gb version...
what is meizu mx?
looks nice...where can i find one??
my dream phone
racism?????
that's not racism, my next purchase will be an Ainol Aurora, my idea is 600$ is a lot of money, and I'd like to spend this money to a consistent brand, I mean, in Italy Meizu has no resellers and no warranty, so this is why i'll never spend 600$ for this phone
Nice phone

here is a review: http://www.meizume.com/meizu-mx/14178-meizu-mx-review.html
However, due to no microsd and non-removable battery, putting it in the iphone territory for me, so I would not likely buy it. Also I need developers interests, CWM or something, or I will destroy the phone very quickly.
It has some good thing going for it, same 1.4ghz Exynos CPU as the Note + Wolfson dac + Pentaband (tmobile + att 3G compatible). It's what the Galaxy Nexus should had been spec wise.
Seems great. But honestly, I'll never buy another Chinese phone.
It is a great device if you want to buy it. Almost features like iPhone 4S- 640*960, Dual core processor, 8 MP Camera, No memory card slot, Micro Sim support, very good design phone and gaming graphics are amazing, screen resolution of the phone and other things are really nice if I want to buy it I will definitely buy it. Meizu is like that Apple remove all its limitations from their iPhone.
I remember the MX launching with lots of fanfare. I think they are the up and coming mobile brand in China with a focus on awesome phones.
I love plus it comes with ICS promise. :-\ :-D its about 500 on eBay. Hope it gets xda love.

I have one, and it's a beautiful device. There's a stock ICS ROM available for it. It rivals many mainstream manufacturers on build quality and the performance is ridiculous.
They are also releasing a quad-core Exynos update, which will come with 32GB of storage.
I was skeptical before I purchased also, but I definitely recommend it now that the price has dropped a little. It is a fantastic phone
^………… u looking to sell it.? I. Would love it.

I would enjoy passing it onto someone who would get as much out of it as I have my only issue with selling it is that Australia Post have an embargo on Lithium batteries, making it prohibitively expensive to ship anything containing a Lithium cell out of the country.
They aren't particularly hard to source anymore though, thankfully. There's a member in the Marketplace called 'droid_does' who can get them to you for around the $400 mark. They're only $50 more directly from Hong Kong on eBay, which is where I got mine. That included six-day UPS shipping, too.

[Q] note with quad

i have read somewhere that samsung will be selling the Exynos 4412 seperatly so we can replace the chipset of the note to quad.
if anyone got information about this plz reply.

Where did you read this?
There is no _way_ Samsung would sell a CPU or upgraded mainboard separately for an existing product. What would the incentive be for users to buy the next model phone?
It would also necessitate a different build of the OS.
The chipset is not user replaceable!
Totally absurd If you ask me!
Quad-core Note 2 on the other hand, more likely...

Where do you read this. Are you talking out the side of your head or engadget.
That article mentioned something about manufactors being able to connect the new chip with the dual core chip because the chips are pin to pin to reduce cost.
Lol this is funny.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
intruda119 is correct, it's on factory basis this info is meant.
You can in theory, install the new chip on existing designes, but most likely, you need to change other things as well, to make full use of the power within the new SOC.
Brilliant, instead of like, Intel, that every new CPU they release you need to look up a new motherboard....ugh...
i don't remember where did i read it but yesterday my friend told me the same thing and i though while not so sure as i am not that knowledgeable in the technical term but i know that the 2 chipsets are based on the cortex-9.
i think samsung would make a very wise decision by doing this it will give an more amazing image when it is thinking that far for the costumers. i dont think any one that have a note with its beautiful big screen will get the SG3 because of the smaller screen and the next note is not coming untill 6 months in my opinion and when it arrive they could make it with a new design and better screen and the same chipset and it will sell big time.
this is my opinion i knowed once i posted this many people will say it is stupid but i want to know if it technically possible. because i am trying to choose between the one x and the galaxy note. i will not wait for the SG3 because it needs more than a month to arrive in my country and i need a bigger screen that 4.0 inch. this is my first android device and i would like it to last for as long as possible.
practically you can replace but the problem will be with the software side....
could samsung work on the software
guys i am just bringing a topic of discussion. i am a noob in android. i have been using nokia for many years started from the baby nokia till the n97.
It's totally impossible. Yes, the 32nm quad is pin compatible with the 32nm dual Exynos, however the Note has the 45nm Exynos so it's not compatible at all.
Sent from my superior GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Its funny because my wanna be techy coworker just walked up to me and mentioned this. I dont think the thought is dumb or anything. But wouldnt be a smart move for samsung.
I wouldnt think it would be as easy as legos. Pretty sure theres some type of difficult soldering involved.
Would be nice but companies make most money off incrementel updates and gimmicks. Thx apple for the blueprint.

This sounds awesome, they're going all out with this, cant wait to see some hands-on/reviews. Hard to believe, 6GB RAM devices are already starting to surface, when 4GB is still really just begun to appear in the big flagships.

It doesn't have nfc, but still, it's a really impressive device. 5.5" screen and 3500mah battery and it would be my perfect phone!
I'm guessing there will be alot of development on here in terms of custom roms & kernels for this new bad boy ?
Official Site
It has good hardware at a very convincing price....I am definitely going for it...rest on our awesome xda developers who will anyways develop custom roms for the phone(hopefully it doesnot have bootloader unlocking restrictions like we have in mi 5)...my next phone for sure....

Again this will depend on whether our developers decide to buy this or not. It is without doubt the best specced phone for the price!!!
Just seen this device in an article earlier as well, this is the LITE version!!!?? It seems to be listed on oppomart for pre-order and is running a stock like rom, although the pictures may be just mockups and so I wouldnt rely on them. Theres some serious hardware on offer for a fraction of the money of the big brands. Obviously it probably wont have the same amount of development as the ZUK, but looks to be an impressive device nonetheless.

Yes sorry, I know its a different phone, meant to say its off-topic (while still on the topic of chinese brand devices!).
They are both packing 6GB of RAM as well.
Ah with you buddy! That's a good phone as well!! My only reservation on that one is the processor. Lack of Snapdragon means lack of mods, or so I'm led to believe.

Anyone knows the material of the lens on the backside?
I really don't hope a plastic type at least scratch resistant mineral glass. of course sapphire would be best but i doubt it.
And wondering durability. Saw a test of the Xiaomi Mi5. flimsy as f#*k.
Waiting for some more camera test for Z2 and Z2 pro. I am not convinced yet. Saw some pics and they looked a bit blurry..
Hello ZUK 2 PRO Fans..
Yes, I just got my ZUK 2 Pro 128GB version phone today.. This device was purchased from ZUK's official website in China.
It doesn't have google play store and services; how do I install all that safely? It has all the typical Chinese apps and it does not have multiple languages other than Chinese & English...
Please HELP!
Sincerely.. Gabriel.Macht

[Q]Huawei Honor Note 8 Forum?

Why is there no forum on XDA for Huawei Honor Note 8?! That phablet is 10x better than Honor 8 mid-ranger...

I didn't know that, and didn't want to know that, because I don't care about mid-range phones with small screens. If you want to ask about another phone, be that V8 or something else - post your own question as a separate thread. There is no need to hijack this thread to talk about another device, my thread was not meant for.
Your thread shouldn't even be here, this is the Honor 8 Flagship forum.

Honor 8 is not "flagship", from any angle you look at it. It is classified as a mid-ranger on most tech blogs out there, and rightfully so. It doesnt crack the top 10 phones in any specs category. Since Huawei Honor Note 8 forum does not exist as of the moment of writing - I think it's reasonably appropriate to post a question about it here. If moderators decide later on it does not belong - it could be moved to Honor Note 8 forum, once created.

It's not about specs, it's about price....300$ to 500$ is a mid-ranger, and any thing that exceedes 600$ is a flagship.

That is literally, the most ridiculous, outrageous and lunatic assertion I've heard anyone make on XDA in the past decade. I wouldn't even know where to begin to tell you how very very very very wrong you are!
If you don't get a meaning of "flagship device" - go read some Wikipedia or dictionary definition, I guess.
According to your logic, most real high end devices from a country like China, for example LeEco phones, which have 4-6GB RAM, latest Snapdragon chip (820 or 821), or phones from Xiaomi with similar specs, which never cost $600 or more for reasons, obvious to everyone but you, are mid-rangers? And ****ty devices with 5 year old specs, with either Georgio Armani logo on them, or made out of gold, or covered in 38 carats of diamonds, which cost anywhere from 10 grand to 150k, are flagships?!
Wow... Don't embarrass yourself in public, do some reading and self-education, learn about different economies, price inflations, developing world markets, etc. before making comments like that. Phone price has literally ZERO impact in determining, whether the device is flagship or not. It is true, that in many markets the opposite is correct - device, which is a flagship, is priced higher, than other devices from the same region. However, there is absolutely no connection/correlation whatsoever in the opposite direction - device's price does NOT have any impact on it's classification as high-end, low-end, mir-ranger or a flagship device.

And it costs half the price of other flagships, too... 5.3 million pre-orders can't be wrong - people know what they're investing in. Kirin955 chip is in the top 3 of all benchmark categories amongst all latest chips, and this is the only device in the world with 2k screen, which is bigger than 6.5". 4500mAh battery doesn't hurt either - you will find such battery size in less than a handful of devices worldwide.

Congrats, and that's an excellent question! To answer it, hopefully admins here will create a forum for this phone, where devs and users could post verified rooting method. This article offers a rooting method, but it's unverified by anyone I know or XDA, so if you wanna try it - do it at your own risk and report the results back here.
Since this is related to the phone in topic...
Question: are these the same phone?

The differences from the one in gsmarena are the colors, front camera, and 4400mAh battery.
Also, can somebody upload somewhere photos taken by their own Huawei Honor Note 8's camera? Unmodified, straight from the camera, with EXIF please. Hopefully with variations like bright scene, dark scene, etc.
Thank you very much.
KingRoot doesn't work as not enough requests for root yet on this model.
An issue I am having if anyone can help is with Play Store. When installing a large application, PS always closes before its finished downloading. Smaller ones are fine. I've disabled the power saving options for PS etc.. Its a weird one and I don't have this problem with my other Huawei.

Do you regret buying MI A1?

Vote and post your comments on your beloved MI A1.
I should've bought RN4.
not regret because i have a feeling custom ROMS will fix all the issues we have. it's gonna be huge....
There are quite some problems with the phone but I guess custom ROM can somehow sort it out. For the price : performance ratio, it can't go wrong.
No. It will be very well supported by custom ROMs in the future I am sure, just like my old Moto G 2015 is one of the most popular devices running LineageOS. The price to performance is great as @soralz said despite Xiaomi taking their time on Oreo.
Neh. None at all.
It's the best budget phone that I can buy on my country, the camera is not at a flagship level but I don't take many photos and the rest is ok also the battery is enough for a complete day.
Off-toppic: @jglass071 I also have a Moto G 2015 running LOS 14.1
There are higher specification and lower price Chinese handsets available. Lets not pretend we all got a bargain. The dual camera is trash. The reason (most of us) bought this phone was for buttery smooth Android with first in line updates. This has turned out not to be the case.
So from my point of view I do regret buying the phone, as I could have had better spec Chinese phone (specifically battery) and flashed a custom ROM. Please lets not be childish and start asking me to list them. We can all use GSM arena compare tool.
Higher spec & lower price than Xiaomi mi a1 ... what a joke. The reason you chose it bcoz it's the cheapest budget phone with a good spec and much reliable Chinese brand.
Seriously ppl just dun understand you get what you've paid for. From what I see so far, ppl who ***** about this phone couldn't afford other than this. Pathetic ...
Sorry but you must have misread my previous post.
I stated I bought the phone for the Android One software. The hardware doesn't particularly bother me although it would have been nice to have a decent camera and a bigger battery.
For the price this early 2016 chip does the job and the phone should be good for another 6-12 months with only 4gb of onboard RAM.
Certainly a solid choice in this spending bracket.
Sorry you got so hot tempered with me about the phone, I guess you really love your MiA1 which I respect.
Maybe a quick browse on GSM Arena using compare tool? Always good to see what's out there. Of course, these options would be without the 'Android One' software.
Lol ... who doesn't know about GSMArena, I said that as I know you're unable to state out the phone higher spec and cheaper than xiaomi mi a1.
I'm happy for what I've paid for, it does what I've required and I'm sure there are room for it to improve. Unlike you guys being cheapskate, spent a little money and expect xiaomi to give premium supports. Late updates ended up like crying babies.
Some goes there are lotsa bloatwares and spywares ... for christ sake, you reckon Google, Microsoft, Apple doesn't gather users' information? Stop daydreaming there ...
It's a shame you have become so bitter about your failed investment.
Maybe learn to research the market more next time rather than take your frustrations out on others.
The biggest regret I have is buying it all full price, 2 weeks before the price dropped. No other regrets.
Name one phone with "higher specification and lower price" I bet you can't.
You're another non post reader. Look on GSM arena I'm not here to do your homework boy. Out of pity, I'll start you off with the Xiaomi MiMax2.
Lol max 2 is certainly neither higher specs Nor cheaper than a1.
Unfortunately you are badly wrong again. Mi max 2 is available for 'equi price' of MiA1 and with larger screen and battery.
Many thanks.
As I said, you may want to investigate GSM arena 'compare tool'.
Not at all.
Pure bloat-free android = bliss
No regrets! Good phone for the money.!
There are always some kids crying over delayed updates and "spyware", "bloatware",...
But really, who cares.
I'm satisfied with my A1!
That's great.
As long as you don't have expectations for Android One experience.
