Samsung apps on custom roms

Is there anyways to get Samsung apps on a custom ROM? I find that while the 4.4.2 Roms generally work great, that lack of SApps and especially the one hand functionality, really reduce how great these Roms can be.
Or is the best bet just to root Samsung's Roms?
Thanks in advance.
Never heard of the leaked 4.4.2 kitkat Samsung rom? ???

I think he is referring to AOSP 4.4.2 ROMS.
For the OP, I don't think it is possible, and believe me, I am in the same position as you are, whether use the boring Samsung ROM with all those features or to use nice looking 4.4.2 ROMs with no Samsung features
Why wouldn't it be possible? Aren't the Samsung apps just apks that can be extracted? Or is it all based only on touch wiz?

Its based on the touchwiz framework. Yeah, it's apks and you might be able to install them but they might either not start up, work properly or not be able to install.

Apks require TWiz framework to work which is impossible to get in AOSP ROMs. AFAIK, MIUI is the only custom ROM which supports SApps.

[Q] Flashing Kernel through SafeStrap

Now that SafeStrap has been released for the galaxy s5 verizon, can we use SafeStrap to flash the blaze kernel, or is that only for Dev edition?
lmao.. No. We cant flash kernels because bootloader is locked.. SS doesnt even flash kernels to my knowledge because its not possible

What about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741086 It seems people have been able to use the blaze kernel.

that is for devices with unlocked bootloaders. ours is locked, so you can't flash a kernel to the Verizon S5.

Rooted S4 4.4.2 (UCUFNB1) questions

Is there a way for me to put CM12 on my device with my current bootloader? This is my work phone but man I hate Samsung. I don't know much about the S4 because its not my personal phone.
It's not possible. You're stuck with safestrap and tw based roms.

Hi,
You might obtain one from SamMobile or Samsung Updates, or checkout the sticky thread on Galaxy S4 General subforum.

I guess I have not made myself clear enough, infact I need ROM which could be flashable via custom recovery.
There are none. All the stock ROMs require Odin to install and the Touchwiz ROMs in the Development subforums I believe are modified in some way, usually by importing features from the S5 or S6.

First flash in 2 years

Hey guys, I happen to be running an old shostock rom from shortly after I got the phone. I believe I have the mdl bootloader but am only 90% sure.
Since it has been so long and I see so many threads about having to use safestrap I just want to be cautious with my flash.
I would like to try out a newer, but very stable ROM. Which ones are compatible with my device? I assume I still need to flash lokidoki.zip?
I used to love miui on my old inspire/desire hd....is there a good port for the gs4?
Thanks for the help!

If you go to Settings, "About Phone" and check there or extra information, it should tell you the what the current bootloader is for your device, yes?
Dirty Unicorns is a stable MDL based ROM available in Kit Kat and Lollipop.
If you have an old ROM, I wonder if you may need to update your modem as well.
Whatever do you, don't forget to backup. Good luck.

Anyone else have anything to add? How stable are the aosp lollipop roms?
I do like touchwiz but I'm looking for a change of pace.
