[Q] Flashing Kernel through SafeStrap - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now that SafeStrap has been released for the galaxy s5 verizon, can we use SafeStrap to flash the blaze kernel, or is that only for Dev edition?

lmao.. No. We cant flash kernels because bootloader is locked.. SS doesnt even flash kernels to my knowledge because its not possible

What about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741086 It seems people have been able to use the blaze kernel.

that is for devices with unlocked bootloaders. ours is locked, so you can't flash a kernel to the Verizon S5.

yes they work i have been running Tmobile roms since day one of exploit release. been running death star and wicked have fun rom on!!
and yes use shabby's recovery so the auto loki is there. if not you have to flash the rom and a loki kernel( like KT kernel) before you can reboot the device!

How about the kernels? I'm about to see if ChronicKernel will work from the T-Mobile forum
Edit: Damn, no luck for me. Had to go into the zip and edit the updater-script because it would pull "ro.product.device" and check if it was jfltetmo and it wouldn't flash if it wasn't so I changed that to jflteatt and zipped it back up and it installed but would go past the Samsung Custom boot screen, just kept rebooting to there

The kernels need to be lokid...there's a recovery that will auto Loki all kernels so I suggest using that if you plan on flashing roms from other s4 variants...the recovery is in the development section, its hard to miss it says auto Loki in its title

I want to try to i9505 GE kernel but am not sure either if that's possible. Does anyone know the answer? Can you run i9505 kernels on i337m? What about radios?
Try it, all it will do is put you in a boot loop, or get stuck at the samsung logo, BUT..
before you do, make sure you have YOUR working kernel handy in case it does not work. Remember, all you have to do is get into recovery and flash the known GOOD kernel and you are back in business.
kernels have nothing to do with modems/radio. meaning it will not change your baseband.
Good luck, and let me know if it works for you guys
Ktoonez T-Mobile kernel will work on the Canadian variant. I am using it right now

I´m running Adam Kernel(9505) on my i337m (Telcel-Mexico) for over a month, no problem so far.
This is the thread you want for kt"s kernels for US/Canadian phones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292341
as stated use tmo kernels from OP link for Canadian phones
also for GE roms you need TouchWiz kernel not aosp
There are a couple kernels like Adams and Audism that will work, but you will need loki-doki for 1337 models
I am running ktoonsez kernel with stock rooted i337m with no issues. Smooth and a lot of configuration.
My i337m is from Telcel Mexico
No boot loop

Note 3 asokp roms?

Will we ever be able to flash asokp roms like paranoid android on the note 3 on boot strap or anything?

There is no way to flash a kernel and asop will not work with stock n3 kernel. So untill there is a way to flash a kernel on a locked bootloader, no.

Can I flash nc4, nc8, nc9, etc. Roms over a nb1 ROM?

In the Att all thing mk2 nb1 section it has all this ROMs that are all 4.4.2 based but I wasn't sure if they would work and could be flashed over a nb1 ROM in another slot

To be on this forum and understand your phone you got to do some reading. This question has been made hundred of times. When i join this forum they would be really nasty for asking the same question over and over.
I will give you an answer anyway.
Since you have one of the latest builds. AT&T has locked the bootloader which makes very hard the process of rooting and installing custom roms. In other words you can only flash TW roms.

Yes i knew that nb1, mk2, and mf3, all have lock bootloaders which mean i can only flash tw based roms. I was asking if the others like nc8 nc9 build numbers are like variants of nb1 or something like that since they are listed under 4.4.2 tw based roms. now im thinking that those are for people who had what ever build came before mf3 that can use loki to flash the latest roms.lease tell me if im wrong.

You can flash any build that is the same android version. The only thing that people with Loki get are AOSP ROMs. Other bases like nc9 and others are still Touchwiz.

[Q] Flashing Stock Rom by SafeStrap

Hello
I have a problem with flashing new stock rom "G900FXXU1BNL9_G900FXEO1BNL1_XEO" by SafeStrap on my at&t s5. I downloaded rom from sammobile it is a zip file but when i try to install it by SafeStrap i have a error
"NO MD5 FILE FOUND".
After unpacked zip file with rom, there is one file "G900FXXU1BNL9_G900FXEO1BNL1_G900FXXU1BNL9_HOME.ta r.md5".
Someone know how can i flash this stock rom? or How can i convert this file to flashable by SafeStrap zip rom?
If it is bad forum section please move it, no remove.
Thags not safestrap flashable, and its also for the g900f, att is g900a wich has a locked bootloader, so even if you flashed it properly(through odin) it wouldnt work.
Sent from my SM-G900A using Tapatalk
I know that it is for g900f but with safestrap make specialy for at&t s5 most of roms from g900f and another models should work normally in my g900a.
Any sugestion how can i do this ?

Pretty sure that is untrue, thats not how safestrap works.
Sent from my SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Im sure that it will be work...devices is the same... only software is another and lock bootloader in at&t. I can flash any another flashable zip from this forum and problem is that i cant search zip version of this rom.
I have one suggestion haw can i do this...
I read somewhere that from recovery of system it is possible to do flashable zip. Maybe somebode have s5 without lock bootloader and can flash this rom via odin and make zip for me?
Or maybe another way?
Thanks
Wysłane z mojego SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
No one has an att variant without a locked bootloader, they are all locked. Where did you get these other flashable zips? If it was for the att s5 android development, those werw made to be flashed in safestrap, I think ankther variant's roms can be flashed but im not sure how it all works and its not the g900f. Either way, from the g900f or not, like i said earlier im pretty sure you have to flash in odin, safestrap cant flash firmwares, and even if it could, this firmware is for the g900f like ive also said(its the lolipop firmware, no?) and so you cannot flash it because the locked bootloader prevents it.

I flash via SafeSrap rom called "Omega" from this forum and rom CyanogenMod 11...it was working normally and they are for g900f and works fine in my g900a.
Yes this is lolipop...via odin i cant flash because i have locked bootloader...only via SafeStrap and flashable zips.

I dont understand how thats possible, everyone thats tried that has just gottena soft brick, and for a reason, locked bootloader limits us to touchwiz based roms, and CM11 is AOSP based, so theres no way it would work, are you aure youre using an att variant?

Im thinking you did something that made you think you flashed it and it worked, because it is not possible for it to work, theres no "i dont know how it worked" it literally cant. As has been said in the other thread you started, you can flash stock roms from other variants as long as its tohchwiz based and is 4.4.2, you cant flash lolipop because that is 5.0, and you cant do firmware updates through safestrap. So the answer to your question is no, you cannot get lollipop on your device as of now.
