Seems like getting Nexus 6 from Tmobile will be faster than if you pre-order it? - Nexus 6 General

" As of 11am EST, pre-orders have yet to begin. It'll be available in stores on November 12th according to a T-Mo press release, as well."
And sourcing from all the people that pre-order it will "leave warehouse on 21st", but T-Mo will get it in store 12th?!
This doesn't make any sense.
I honestly believe that google is purposely creating this hype, so all the media will be talking about it...well to get more people to talk about Nexus 6. Smart move, Google.

Of course they are. Just like Apple does with the iPhone and Sony does with their consoles. Harder to get = higher demand. People always want what they can't have. Simple logic. :good:

Yup. I'll be going to the T-mobile store on November 12 in the AM hoping they have some in stock

I have a feeling that date is no longer accurate. But I hope I'm wrong.

Hard to say? Google could have had a more than we think made but have a certain ammount set aside for each carrier?

Not my reply but somebody asked them
https://twitter.com/TMobileHelp/status/527832080588496897

Apparently they are only getting the Blue version.

I've been with T-Mo for a year now and with the exception of the iPhone 6 pre-orders have been arriving either the day of launch or a day early on every major device since I joined up. Nexus demand isn't going to be anywhere near iPhone demand, so I am guessing that it will be the same here.

Does anyone know if the T-Mobile version will be any different than the one from Google?

If they do then I'll be walking in and out with a 64gb white.

Some questions:
Will the T-Mobile version will be locked down to T-Mobile only? Meaning the resale value is going to tank?
Will it have any T-Mobile branding on the front and/or back?
Will the T-Mobile version be the only one capable of Wi-Fi calling AKA Wi-Fi Unleashed?
Can it be bought outright, or does it require a contract? I currently have the T-Mobile/Walmart $30 plan, and I'd like to stay on that if possible.

T-Mobile will be unlocked. The issue will be having the CDMA carriers adding the IMEI to their system. Using on At&t will not be a problem.
No T-Mobile branding
No idea on that one
If trying to buy our right make sure you go to a Corporate store. Retailers will most likely deny the sale of it without service. They will most likely tell you they don't have any.

Anyone know what time the online orders for the 64 will go live?

WiFi calling is actually a Lolipop feature, so theoretically all carrier versions will support it. That doesn't mean they will actually work when you try to use it, though - since VZT and ATT have not rolled it out yet it's doubtful that it will.
Worst case, you can route your calls through Google Voice via hangouts on the other carriers.

Google changes plan, will stop selling Nexus One online.

Wow. just plain wow. Did not see this coming at all.
Google will stop selling it online, and instead will let the carriers sell the phone instead.
Reason? Google says it's because customers want a hands-on experience before buying the phone itself.
The online store was for early adopters+niche market.
Just to clarify things up: The Nexus One is not dead, it just won't be available online, only through carriers as stated by the employee:
More retail availability. As we make Nexus One available in more countries we’ll follow the same model we’ve adopted in Europe, where we're working with partners to offer Nexus One to consumers through existing retail channels. We’ll shift to a similar model globally.
From retail to viewing. Once we have increased the availability of Nexus One devices in stores, we'll stop selling handsets via the web store, and will instead use it as an online store window to showcase a variety of Android phones available globally.

It's different news tho. That one was an article on why Verizon probably didn't carry the Nexus One. This is google officially coming out to say they will stop selling it.
If it really is repetitive, then feel free to lock. 0.o
Does this mean we can finally get subsidized N1s? If so I'm going to sale my N1 while they are still worth something. Then use money to get subsidized one.
The ONLY thing Google has conceded, in no longer exclusively selling the N1 via website, is that people don't want to buy something site-unseen.
Nexus One lives on, but now will be more readily available for people to "kick the tires" before buying.

Interesting... I wonder how Google is going to get retail stores to showcase the N1? By Google paying the Retailers a portion of the profits for each one sold but maintaining control or by giving the retailers total control over the phone and the retailers paying Google for each N1 sold?
Thoughts?
Shoot, I'm keeping mine. They sold so few of them, it might someday be a collectors item.
So then how are AT&T versions of the N1 to be sold when AT&T clearly doesn't want to sell it?

Why cant they do both ?

FINALLY
Finally, we can stop seeing all these RETARDED articles about "awwwmagad was the nexus one a faylure!?!?"
NO!
The Nexus One was GREAT!!!! The store was not.
If it wasn't for the N1, phones like the Incredible or the Evo would most likely have come out much, much later than they did/will. It certainly raised the bar for "high-end" Android phones, and smartphones in general.
I'm also sad about this, because as attn1 mentioned, what's going to happen when carriers like AT&T don't want to carry a particular phone in the future?? Buying a phone through Google for AT&T was like a big "Hey AT&T, here's a /middle finger for you!"
AND not only does it allow phone manufacturers to make and sell a device without worrying about the carrier blocking it, but it allows for selling it worldwide without even taking into account WHICH carrier it's designed for. Grab the phone, use it in Canada, India, Europe, etc.
How many people on this forum would never have an N1 had it not been for the Google store?
Last but certainly not least, it also leaves the phone bloat-ware free! Can you imagine the Nexus Two with AT&T crapware and not being able to install non-market apps like the Backflop??
I really, really, really hope this isn't the last we've seen of the Google store. There are just too many benefits aside from the above three. At the least, I hope the Google Store will be an addition to carrier-sold phones.

Called BB today for some info...

The salesguy told me that pre-ordering will start on Feb. 20 and that the actual launch day has yet to be confirmed because "google is still doing last minute tweaks to Honeycomb." They're hoping for February 27th.
Also, he said he is unaware of the wifi-only model--I assume he means when it will be released since we have confirmation that one does exist.
Any finally, most interesting, is that if you buy a 3G version, in order to upgrade it to 4G, Motorola will be sending you an empty box to ship the xoom back to them so they can make the upgrade. They are promising a one week turn-around.
This guy may be ill-informed but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Just an FYI to the community.
BTW: I live in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (called local BB)
The 4G upgrade is software based and we'll get it OTA.
I would think that the Xooms are already boxed up sitting in a warehouse. However, I really dont know how quick they can go from the production line to shipping to the stores... but it may be possible to so that within a few days.
I hope its not pushed back, but I'd rather have a good experience out of the box then wait 2-3 weeks for an OTA patch.

I was thinking it was some chip to replace, then I stumbled on another tech site that simply stated it was a software patch.
Sending the Xoom to MOTO for chip replacement is going to cost MOTO 100's of thousands of dollars; i dont get it. Unless we have to pay for shipping.
If sending it in is a requirement I think they need to disclose that in advance. If I was buying one and the LTE upgrade was a factor, I wouldn't want to have to send it in to be upgraded and be without it for a week or more.
Think I'll wait longer for the WiFi model than deal with that.
I could have sworn that they said the LTE update would be OTA during CES, but I admit, I could be wrong.

it wasnt the link i was looking for but i know androidcentral is also a credible source but if you search for it you will see that it needs a hardware upgrade. As for the upgrades costing motorola, they are probably already getting their cut from the price of the xoom. Sanjay said the price of the xoom is justifiable because its 4g upgradeable which might mean they already figured in the cost of 4g upgrade with original price of xoom. It sucks for us because those who arent in 4g coverage are getting charged for it but its a smart move by moto since 100% of the tablets they sell wont be all coming back.
The more I read, the more I want to wait for wifi only. I hear that Costco has a 90 day return policy. I want the tablet so bad, I may spring for one and hope the wifi model comes out b4 the 90 days...

Good point. I would have done the same thing if I was them. Probably only going to get a 40% return, if that, for the 4G upgrade. It's all just added revenue to them. And once the LTE upgrade is installed on new out-the-door units, they'll still be making a larger profit due to the higher price.
The $200 difference between WiFi and the 3G model make a lot more sense now if you've got to send it in.

Did you talk to the store manager or just sales rep? Let me know the name and I will try and dig a little more. {have several contacts in Minneapolis}
You should know that you can't trust a single thing a BB employee tells you, even if he was the store manager. Only trust that which is on an official handout. If that employee pulls out a printout like the leaked info.. then you can trust him. To test, just call the same store every 2 hours and see how often you get an employee swear by something different than another employee.
What's more annoying is when you know they have been giving info around preorder time, and they play stupid.
If Xoom will be available for pre-order this weekend, I would think they would have announced something by now. What do you guys think?

I stopped by BB today. All the reps said presale starts tomorrow and device in stores on 24th (though they didn't know much, including price, I informed them haha - but recent emails stated these dates). Asked them if they matched price, incase Costco is $100 cheaper, said it depends. I would think they'd match competition though...
Also, I don't recall the Atrix presale being announced officially until the day of - I'd imagine the Xoom being done the same way.

Basically the launch delay due to shipments being held by US Customs (due to Apple infringement claim). As they were gradually let out, Sprint had first pick at them while third-parties (like Wirefly) were way down on the list. Don't know when their customers finally got them (I ended up cancelling). Learned my lesson! Not saying that you'll have the same experience, but since this is limited quantities, know that Wirefly will get the left-overs.

It could be that there is an official agreement to allow carriers to sell most of the devices. Of course, if that were the case they never should have offered a Play Store pre-sale in the first place.

How is it moronic if numbers say most will buy through a carrier. Seems like a simple choice to me.

When Google has a golden opportunity to sell a device that most carriers haven't even listed on their sites yet or formally announced plans to carry, and make money...it is moronic.
Having a flagship device that no one can buy due to your (Google's) idiotic bureaucratic decision making is how to get people who otherwise are your fan base pissed at you...see the idiocy of One+

Its not moronic if that was the condition carriers wanted if they were to carrier the product. I'm pretty sure the men making these decisions know more than the all of us here. Not to mention they have access to numbers and info we don't to make such a decision.

people need to stop crying and just go into their carrier and buy it there. it's not like it isn't the same phone online.

The phone isn't even released yet... People need to calm down. Even IF you were able to preorder it would still have been weeks before you got the phone.

But if everyone calmed down, I'd have nothing to entertain myself with for the next couple of weeks...

Odds are it isn't.
You get some degree of bloat (albeit removable it sounds like) and what is more delayed updates.

If its the same model you could just flash the factory image so its no big deal.

tmobile nexus 4 and 5 was the same one from the play store nothing different. it still got the updates from Google. no bloat at all unless Google put it on there. I can't speak about the others. I am buying mine on the 12th from the tmo store and I am sure it will be the same one Google sends out.

This is one of two things I was worried about if I have to pick it up from T-Mo:
- 1) I just want to make sure the updates come from Google and not the carrier (T-Mo in this case). Especially since I will be paying all upfront for it since I am prepaid and don't want to sign up for a post paid plan. There's no sense in me having to wait for an update if I'm not tied to any sort of plan or carrier.
- 2) I would very much rather purchase directly from the Play Store if only for the GREAT 1-year hassle-free warranty coverage they have. I had to do a warranty exchange a few weeks ago on my N5, and whole procedure was absolutely painless. I had my replacement device in-hand the very next day.
So, as much as I would prefer to buy it from the Play Store, if the speculation that the majority of sales will be taking place through the carriers and the supply on the Play Store will be scarce, I would just want the T-Mo phone to be EXACTLY like the one they sell in the Play Store, with no carrier meddling/bloatware.
Google news for us in the uk then as long as there is a decent amount of stock as no carriers have listed it as exclusive to either O2, ee, Vodafone or three afaik

I'm really hoping the same thing doesn't happen in the U.K. with Stock issues
Hopefully its all under control by then, and they just put it on the site for sale and ship the same time as the US

1.) Same freaking phone no doubt about it. Its been said a billion times. Updates from google Tmobile bloat
2.) You get next day shipping with Tmobile if you have their insurance plan which I recommend as it extends it past the 1 year google offers.

Guess what? Another carrier only stocking 32GB Blue in store: Sprint

http://www.androidauthority.com/sprint-32gb-midnight-blue-nexus-6-565656/
Makes me wonder what the heck is going on that carriers would intentionally gimp their inventory like this.
Will they have the 64GB version available online from sprint?
sprint usually only sells the 32gb variant of these celebrity phones.
Its not a official source. Google didn't over produce the "Blue" ones as they can't even keep them in stock so there is no surplus. This is a bust article from a bust reddit post.

God I hope so. I can't afford to buy one straight out without it being subsidized.

Wouldn't matter anyway. If Sprint's getting limited stock my experience with the One M7 would suggest they won't sell outright; you'd need to be a new customer or upgrade on contract.

That's what I'm trying to do. Returned my Note 4 after 8 days because it was announced they would be carrying it. Was looking to get it at the contract renewal price, but if they're only going to carry the blue 32 (I want the white 64), then I may just go back to the Note 4 (or even switch carriers) as I can't afford to buy the phone outright for Play Store or Moto. Oh well. We'll see how true it is.

Yea I bought mine outright...I'm not thinking I'll stay on Sprint another 2 years considering how awful their coverage continues to be.
Also If I'm overseas, I can just plop a nano-sim in a single device.

That's the way I'm leaning also. By the time I save up for it, maybe it will actually be available to purchase from the play store. I'll just take it to whatever carrier I like.

Catch being with carrier devices...who knows what the FCC final rules on carrier-locked devices will be come the new year. Presuming that carrier sold Nexus 6s will end up being carrier locked (for duration of contract or what have you).

Yeah. I was meaning buying it outright from the play store and deciding where I want to take it.
Very frustrating if this is true.

Yeah, last year Sprint only carried the 16GB Model of the Nexus 5. I end up getting the 32GB model from the Playstore but was unable to insure it through Sprint. I honestly expect the same this year. As bad as their bleeding customers you would think they would offer more variety. If I have issues activating my 64GB variant this will push me over the edge & I'm going to T-Mobile
