Yes indeed it is. OP doesn't search very well.

Wait is Happy !!!
have to wait until 2015?!

I don't know why but I'm not extremely excited about lollipop. With Rottgrub's ghost patch, we are now open to a massive amount of ROM's to mess with. Also, since ART is replacing dalvik that is going to give a load of compatibility issues. I also heard rooting is going to be extremely hard. But, I guess it's kinda cool of an update if you are only going to be running stock.

Official ICS 4.0 ota for nexus s 4g before late galaxy nexus.

I just wanted to know if Google releases the ics ota for the nexus s 4g should I just stick with it instead of upgrading fully to Mac daddy galaxy nexus. I hope they release it on the sale date of the GN or before. Just want to hear some thoughts.

The official ota isn't going to make ICS any better. The only thing it will do is add the word official to ICS.

from my experience stock roms run the best. i always have some kind of issue that brings me back to stock. i would love an official ics build soon.

I agree with this, but the amount of resources and testing at google's disposal far outweighs that of your average rom builder.
Not only that, but I'm positive that Google has specification and performance information on the phone's hardware that the average ROM developer will simply never have. I agree, custom ROMs are fun to play with, but for everyday use, you'll never beat a stock ROM.

I'm on kang 15 and steve.garons latest kernel. You and I have very different opinions of stable. Mine is top notch. No hiccups. If u want to wait, by all means, I was...then broke down and the current roms are fantastic.
It takes less than 5mins to root, make a backup, copy that backup yo PC, then unlock boot loader and flash a new rom. If u don't like it, there always that backup you can restore. Too easy to sit around and complain when there are alternatives
I'm always finding things that don't work on custom kernels and it drives me insane!! I'll try to show someone something cool, and it takes me 15 minutes just to get it working, then I just look stupid because the rom I have isn't compatible with ___, or it's missing ___ (fill in the blank)
Yeah, they are fun to play with, and it's nice to have the cool mods & tweaks that come with them, but when you want your phone to "just work" then there's nothing better than a nice stable official rom that does everything you throw at it. speed & extra performance is great, but stability and compatibility outweigh those every single time, imho

I can't help but agree that ota is most stable But I feel the same way as you. Stability first. Yet I myself am not suffering from any issue. I find my self surround by multiple galaxy nexus owners daily and I am showing them stuff w my oG. Vice versa, just throwing it out there. I have been lucky when I have been flashing phones, many many manyphones hahaha. They all take well to me. I hate a screwed up glitchy phone

That's a really old release of 4.1.2. There are loads of 4.1.2 updates since then. That will be what you are getting prompted for. You're 6 months out of date.
I've been wondering when were they thinking about releasing this since the leak has been around since february (i think) and the S4 has been released already. But to be honest, I couldn't care less about those "features" for an update, all i want is multitasking fixed. Which i'm fairly sure we won't get. Samsung should stick with fixing the basics instead or pushing out mostly useless crap. Guess i'll stick with aosp and just get a nexus at some point...

That's not really the point.
Your point was Kies tells you there is an update and that it must be 4.2
My point is you are on a 6 month old release. Any update Kies tells you available is not 4.2. It is one of the 30 4.1.2 releases newer than yours.

I did think about that since i read somewhere about the extra sensors involved, i just thought they'd adapt or disable functions that really required them or at least do it in a different way that wouldn't need said sensors - there's software to mesure heart rate with the camera, which isn't the most conventional way and, to be honest, if someone told me before that was possible i'd most likely dismiss it as a prank app/gimmick, but i did see it roughly working

Dev support

See So are we going to see issues here between cdma and gsm support like a few other devices out there? Example : I had the sprint HTC one and it got much less development because of partition differences from the gsm variants.
Since all moto x variants use the same base I'm assuming we won't need to worry about those kinda problems?
I'm curious because I'm hoping this device will have much more aggressive development and an active community. Since the phone is near AOSP I'm also wondering if we will have kernel developers like Franco and others.

I doubt we are going to see a very large Dev Community. I hope I am wrong. But since I haven't seen much interest by now - well - it just seems unlikely. Developers like to get new phones when they are brand new. And it doesn't seem to be happening. But I could be wrong. It would certainly not be the first time.

Or all the Devs were waiting on the dev edition...
Edit* I was thinking about this more. In many respects, the developers invest time, energy and heart, into "fixing" the devices... making them better via firmware and kernel tweaks. I have yet to aquire my moto x... hoping it will be at my door Monday, but from what I have gathered, this device is one of the best out of the box experiences of any other available phone... developers may recognize that their skills may be better appreciated and put to use on devices that would see more benefit. Not to say the moto x doesn't deserve development, but rather, that it may not need it as much as an s4, htc one or g2.
Now, the moto x experience can still be enhanced by development support, but, again without having the device yet myself, it appears as though many are getting, out of box, the experience that so many developers are striving to make possible on many of the other phones currently available.
Personally, I can't wait to have a phone, near or at stock, that is almost exactly what I have been wanting... A harmonization of hardware and software that doesn't sacrifice the efficiency of stock Android and doesn't skimp on usable quality features.

I, too, hope that we see decent developer support for the Moto X. I mean, the T-Mobile/Sprint versions have unlockable bootloaders, Moto just released dev editions which support cdma and gsm networks, the phone is available on all four major US carriers, so you'd figure we'd have healthy developer activity. Here's hoping that its just a matter of time.

I could lose the voice features and not mind one bit , I will never constantly talk to my phone without it being a person... The active notifications are important to me.. If they can't harness that at all then I may stick with a stock rom that's just heavily modded when they come.

Considering how close this is to AOSP, I'm sure a few devs might consider using the Moto X source as their base.
Nice to hear some development is finally happening but I feel for those who still have a locked boot loader, counting myself being one of the lucky ones who unlocked the boot loader. I guess no warranty suits me fine if I can flash roms

There is no doubt there will be stock blur based ROMs. With phones available on every carrier with unlockable bootloaders, two working recoveries, we should see them popping up soon. AFAIK the only thing that is not quite right yet is the updater script.

Paranoid Android 6.0.1
Let's keep it short and simple: This one's for the dreamers longing for bug fixes. A lot of bug fixes and support for some awesome devices!...
For Nexus, the most important changes are the inclusion of June Security bulletin and Theme Engine updates. The bundled Browser application has been updated as well and all system update notifications will now come from us, and not from Google as it did for some specific users on the last release....

just flashing now
Is their kernel decent enough or should I just flash Phasma or elementalX?
Flashed, practically 0 personalization, just inmersive mode, battery percent, reorganiable quicksettings and peek for notifications, but seems to be runnig great so far on mako. When they update to June security patch I'll flash it on bullhead.
Btw very interested o battery life, so I'll be keeping an eye on your impressions with that
Cheers
Is there anyone willing to give a status.report after one days usage on battery/ overall performance / customisation ect..will be helpful to those who are in the need.ect thanks???

Is it me or is this really smooth? I'm hoping not a placebo.
