N910U Hong Kong vs N910C Poland (question about firmware updates) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Over the years, I noticed that the firmware for the market to hong kong always remain a step backwards compared to those for the European market, in particular for Poland. Also for the Notes 4, the European market has got the firmware version ANJ4 while Hong Kong still have version ANJ3.
For these reasons I have not yet taken the N910U. I'm wrong?

Up!

For Note 10.1 updates for Polish firmware were always first or close to being first - at least in the beginnnng - (I have a theory that Samsung was using us as beta-testers ). But I don't know if it's true for other Samsung devices. Also there seems to be a big mess on our market with Note 4 - we can choose from versions C, U and F in different stores - but no store is 100% sure if we will get the version they state. There might be differences in times of updates for those various versions for Polish market too.... I chose C, but am not sure what I will get, really (it seems to be most available though, only one store had U).

Thank you Magnesus! Can you say me where can I buy the sm-n910c(an online store with paypal)? I'm in Italy.

I don't know, Polish stores usually don't ship abroad I think and no PayPal support. I bought mine at vobis.pl. We have quite high prices too so I wouldn't recommend buying from Poland.

Yes the prices are very high ,I have seen them here: http://geizhals.eu/samsung-galaxy-note-4-n910c-schwarz-a1161556.html
Still thanks!
Regards

i have the N910U one..and as u can see in sammobile N910U and N910C are up to date till now ..so i think samsung will make all equal from now on i think?
and i checked it N910U build date is 6th october, and N910C in 8th october..

Not all of them, Hong Kong variant differ from Poland variant: NJ3 < NJ4

You will be able to flash NZ firmware on HK version as they are both N910U. I've ordered mine and should be here early next week.

I wouldn't have a clue as I haven't even looked at NJ3. Don't hold your breath with the changelog, Samsung never say whats changed. All you can go on is the change list in build.prop.
NJ4 has this ro.build.changelist=2816635. Whats NJ3 say?

Yes, but I'm in Europe(Italy). With Poland rom I have always found italian language on all items, settings menu, keyboard, etc .. Instead, with my old galaxy s4 Exynos(for Asiatic market) one time I had flashed another rom(more updated) but the keyboard and some voices of the menu was in Korean/Chinese, no italian and no English. In another words, with Poland rom I'm (almost)sure that the language fit my needed.

Differences between Hong Kong and UK models?

Any hardware differences between HK and UK versions of the 7.7?
I've got a Hong Kong version (16 gig, 3G enabled) and was wondering if there would be any pitfalls to flashing it with UK firmware when available.
TIA
I also have a Hong Kong 7.7 3g model and live in the UK and I flashed it with the Open Austria firmware because it covers the UK region and had no problems.
Here is the description taken from SamMobile:
GT-P6800 - Open Austria
PDA: P6800XXLQ1
CSC: P6800OXALQ1
Version: 4.0.4
Date: 2012-06-22
Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

The Open Austria ROM comes with an installation of swype that does not include Chinese input, unlike the Hong Kong ROM. You also lose the DioPen Chinese input. But other than that, I can't see much else of a difference. (I have successfully flashed the Open Austria ROM on my HK device and gotten around the input options issue by other means.)
Thanks - sounds like I can go ahead and change to UK ROM then. I'm in the UK so not too worried about any loss of Chinese input options.
Theory, any cool way u found to input chinese?

Covered in my FAQ. Hint: install swype beta and download the required language packs. (I haven't tested if the old google Chinese IME works yet; but I like the latest version of swype beta.)

You wouldn't miss DioPen once you have tried Go Chinese input method. It's designed specifically for tablets, so that you can have a bigger (with more keys) keyboard layout when you installed the right plugin.
I list below those packages you needed to install for use in Hong Kong:
GO輸入法中國香港倉頡\速成\筆劃詞庫包
GO輸入法Pad插件
GO輸入法國際版 <=== install it first
GO輸入法國際版中文手寫插件 <==== only if you want handwriting, I use 倉頡 anyway.
The only downside is that you lost the Voice input key in the new keyboard layout, but that is something I wouldn't really use too frequently anyway.
Ty lots guys <3

When will the automatic Over The Air update be released? I have a Hong Kong 7.7 and living in the UK
Add me to the list of people who have the Hong Kong version but flashed the Austrian ICS update with no issues.
I have galaxy tab 7.7 hongkong version too,
I did upgrade to ics Austria version...
I can say , almost everything is fine ... only a few minor thing missing ...
1. like people said before chinese keyboard is missing
2. Ebook reader (stock form samsung) ... if I click this one ... i got message "service will be available soon" but I don't care ... many ebook reader can be downloaded.
3. Kies warning "Your Device does not support software Upgrading via Kies"
I am afraid because csc change from hongkong to austria ...
My question is : if ICS Hongkong version release , Can I re flash again with Hongkong version ???

Sure you can flash other releases. Provided that Samsung actually releases them...
I am in the same boat. HK tab 7.7 in the UK.
At the beginning I was thinking of changing CSC to UK or EU, but then I somehow realized that CSC only make a difference for KIES software, but not to anything else. Google market does not have a concept of CSC. Cyanogen ROMs do not have a concept of CSC. There are no restrictions or differences whatsoever apart from KIES.
I have tried KIES couple of times and that was enough. I will never touch it with a barge pole. I always hated iTunes, but KIES is a total joke! If I were Tim Cook, I would buy a Samsung tab and posted Youtube videos of my actual experiences with KIES. That would be enough to eliminate all but hardcore customers!
So why should I even be bothered to think of CSC? Hardware is exactly the same. I can install any UK or European Samsung ROM and it will work exactly the same on HK tab. When decent CM9/CM10 come out I would give it a try.
In other words I see no advantages of a UK Tab 7.7 vs HK Tab 7.7.
But I see one very important disadvantage and you know what it is.

[Q] SGS4 origin and how to change it.

I just got my phone, when I opened it I noticed that the first language option that was given to me was spanish (or maybe portugese not really sure) anyway, that got me curious, did my phone come originally from south america or somewhere in the iberian peninsula?
I was sure about this when I opened the browser and saw this locked bookmark from samsung that is in spanish.
anyway, is there anyway to know where my phone originally came from or was manufactured for? and is there any way to change this?
Thank you.
You can search the baseband info on sammobile.com
I found that my ebay purchased unit was bound for Trinidad/Tobago.
Thanks!
Mine is for Colombia (COO)
will it be OK to install a firmware other than the one for colombia? for example I want to change to a firmware from brazil instead or germany.

[Q] Buying S4 @ Samsung Store UK-Which FW is inside?

Hi Folks,
If i buy a S4 in a SAMSUNG Store in the UK (London) - will the Firmware/ROM will be completely unbranded?
which 3 letters denotes such Firmware? i.e 9505XX***? will i get OTA updates even if i'm not in London later on ?
Will such a Firmware have the option to add a Hebrew keyboard and input ?
is it part of the original OS or SAMSUNG remove it for the UK market?
thanks

Well i'm looking for a Samsung official firmware that can be updated from Samsung like any other.
i dont want root or custom it. i just want something similar to what i get from an iOS experience. Official updates by samsung to device
as far as i get it the updates for S4 are controlled by the Operators, if i buy at the samsung store will i get updates which are not controlled by the operators. We know that operators do not release updates quickly and its annoying.
Here in .IL the i9505 is not the official phone - here its the i9500 and no lte. the i9505 is being sold here non official yet with a customized firmware that translated the TW to hebrew (YUCK) which is made by someone unknown - no idea how i can put a Samsung official (English firmware) that will get me updates, and will also support allow to install the built in hebrew input keyboard. no need for a hebrew gui.
any ideas?
thanks

I have two options - but an i9500 Octa core here with no LTE (LTE will be here in 1-2 years) or the i9505 in London.
What do you guys recommend? the i9505 as far as i see is not that bad and will support future LTE here while the i9500 will be hard to get rid off as everyone will want an LTE phone then...
Thanks guys !

best place to buy unadulterated S4 is amazon... make sure you buy from amazon not from third party sellers selling in amazon... I would get the LTE version if you want LTE.

Countries Being Ignored by Samsung for Getting i9500 updates?

Since around a month, there hasnt been any new Galaxy S4 updates when it comes to Middle eastern, African and neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan because all of them are stuck at UBMEA. But on the other hand, Indian Sub continent (inda,Srilanka, nepal, bangladesh, etc.) are now ahead of the rest by THREE updates (MF5,MF8,MG1) now which is stupid and it doesnt make sence.
I know it takes time, but in the past with Galaxy S3 updates, all countries used to get the SAME update and then after some time, Samsung used to release a new update when most of the countries had got the previous update. But now Samsung have ignored the rest and concentrating on few countries now.
IT makes me wonder whether whether the rest countries are now being ignored or indian sub continent has got the most faulty units in comparison to others.
Thoughts?
p.s. Not all people like to 0din and flash manually.
There isn't a logical answer at your question. Middle East countries sale match more than Shrilanca Indonesia, Bangladesh e.t.c

I would suggest you use Odin and install the latest firmwares coming out. Those are official updates. I guess that's the reason why your phone came with Odin mode.
I got my phone from a distributor, and my phone came from South Africa. It took a while before I got the MEA update, and now that I see new firmwares coming out, I finally decided to use Odin, my phone is now officially from Bangladesh (software-wise)

If you look on Sammobile or Samsung-Updates at any Samsung device there are regions on ancient ROMs while CSC's like DBT have gotten three updates. It's pretty random from device-to-device and region-to-region.
It's more of the official country importer's fault than Samsung's fault...

No its samsungs, they should send out the update to everyone. I understand the delay, HTC devices also have similar delays when software updates are rolled out.
There are people in the UK Still stuck on MDM..... Not sure why you think you think you are being ignored.
Dont worry though, nothing past MEA seems to make much of a difference anyway lol
dude most latin american countries are still rocking MDE or MDK

I seriously dont understand the differences because it is absurd. Either the indian sub continent has sold more i9500 than other countries or Samsung dont like to take notice of other countries. HTC is Way better when it comes to 'Distribution' (and not the number) of updates as they cover the whole continent at once.

HTC is exactly the same. They are just have a different way to do that (by CID) and you can't flash a new firmware without rooting or messing with your device.
All OEMs are the same, they have a lot of differe t firmwares for a lot of different regions, thus making everybody wait for ages or ignoring some regions completely, LG doesnt count cause they almost never update their devices
why doenst samsung release two universal firmwares for the 9500 and 9505 and then the carrier specifics? would be a lot easier

How to check whether my phone connects to the samsung servers to check for the updates?
And I have not rooted or customised my phone in any way. The status still shows "Official"

[Q] Question

I dont know if this question will make any sense but I will ask anyways.
I want to know from which country my i9505 gets the firmware updates from.
2 of my friends own the same model as mine and they received the 4.4.2 firmware upgrade and mine still didnt.
We bought it from 2 different sellers.
Is there any way to check where mine gets its updates from?
Thanks

1. Conect it to Kies 3 and it will tell ya if u have updates.
2. Close the CSC you will have 3 letters btw parenthesis. This is your zone code.
3. Go to SamMobile and find your device model & your CSC and you will see if u have any update. For download the firmwares u have sig in. Good luck :highfive:

I have (ATO) in the parenthesis which is Austria.
No updates from KIES.
I have searched sammobile and Austria (A1) is available but I dont think its the same. I think I should wait for Austria only without the (A1) right?

I have searched sammobile and Austria (A1) is available but I dont think its the same. I think I should wait for Austria only without the (A1) right?
Thanks

Thanks again for your prompt answer. But one more question why does the update dont appear on KIES or in the software update on the phone?
Is there is something wrong? what do you think?
Thanks

Austria have differents codes for different phone brands (Vodafone, a1, T-mobile...). The update will appears in Kies 3 when Samsung will release it. All seems correct. Be patient
