Kernel/ROM etc.... features that we need - Nexus 9 General

this thread is meant for everyone thats making a kernel or ROM so you know what features that everyone wants
The things we need
ROOT duh
ALL-F2FS FS support
NTFS FS support
CPU Governors
GPU Governors
GPU overclocking
CPU overclocking
RAM overclocking if we can
Dual boot ROM/Kernels and 64bit Ubuntu
any more ideas?

I have that one listed

Under voltage's battery's current 6700mah to say 6200 for extended battery life!
Under volatage CPU/GPU
Aroma?
Sweep2wake
Sweep2sleep
This is alot to ask, but good luck!

Tuff luck! Its what others like :good:

PIE control

Most important one.. Stability. Needs to be stable, and have a few minor tweaks, it all depends on how the stock kernel is though.. HTC Stock kernels tend to be pretty sweet anyway and just need a few features added IMO.

Have been told that the CPU is way under clocked @2.3,GHz and could handle 3.00ghz easy! Note that this is a rumour, but if true wow!
Really looking forward to it now!

Um everything you listed is stuff that is the norm for custom kernels. Wonder if well see Franco or faux or flar here...im still really on the fence.

At the price probably only if the device is donated. I'm sure the size is off putting for them.

USB-OTG and USB-Audio support would be stellar (if not included as standard)
:good:

I would love to see the GPU and CPU overclocking as well as over/under volt for both for maximum tuning capability. The other things I would like to see though are RAM and bus overclocking access since with so many GPU cores if we get to overclocking we may need some more in those areas too so we can take full advantage of the higher core MHz

{req} gpu uv/uc

Been trying the SGSII for a while, and came across a great feature introduced by the devs, were u can OC/UC and OV/UV the GPU just like the CPU.
I would like to know if it's possible to do the same for the NexusS?
I'm mostly interested in UV/UC as most people know that the PowerVR SGX540 is extraordinarily powerful.
If it's possible and other members are interested, i may start a bounty thread.
Many thnx

I don't think he does GPU overclocking.
As far as I know he only rapes increases the bus speeds.

[Q] Overclocking

As many of you may have heard, Nexus 7 overclocking became very successfully. I was wondering about the status on overclocking the frequency on the Nexus 10. Is there a good kernel out there now or in the future?
Thanks!

Did you bother to check the dev sections?
There is at least one kernel out that allows overclocking, mine was very stable at 2.0ghz ...
You should have searched around more. But as of right now, the Nexus 10 can get overclocked to 2.1 ghz without much stability issues. The biggest issue is that it thermal throttles so the performance increase isn't that big compared to what it's supposed to be.

Also, I did look around for the kernel guys. I'm just not sure can I flash the kernel over the stock rooted romor do I have to flash both kernel and the AOSP rom.
Plus, I just wanted to know some progress because overclocking hasn't been a big topic for Nexus 10.

P.S DALINGRIN, I REMEMBER YOU FROM THE NOOK COLOR COMMUNITY!!!
FIRST ROM FLASHED WAS MADE BY YOU!
lol
CPU bottleneck just means that CPU is the hardware component that's slowing down the device. But in the Nexus 10, CPU is not the bottleneck (CPU is plenty strong). The Nexus 10 doesn't need any CPU overclocking. It needs memory and GPU overclocking.
You can flash the kernel over stock rom.

Got the play to 2.1GHz

there is a theory by turgot, that increasing a faktor wont increase the outcome at a specific point anymore. therefore i would be really interested how your play handles games at that oc. not only a benchmark, something like a video where its possible to see occouring errors, if there are any
this is great work you did, and it may allows some modification to the play.yes im thinking about cooling..even if it wont be that portable anymore. thanks for your help
2.3GHz
I'm currently going where no developer would go before my customized kernel has 26 CPU frequinces all up and a max of 2.3GHz
But without the GPU overclock and a 8mb GPU memory vs Lupus and dooms 4mb
i cant go even more than 1.6ghz
Needed an extra cooler solution and an powerful battery, like Mugen 3600mAh, to maintain this level of OC for diary use. Would be amazing!

Wait, what? Lupus Kernel offers increased amount of VRAM?
IMHO this is perfectly fine if you don't care so much about the device, otherwise you would be crazy. OC'ng so high will eventually cause in-reversable damage. I know what your doing so no need for me to ask questions But even if its stable for you it wont be for others all depends on the chip and as we know each is different. Also even if people don't use 2.x ghz frequencies tend to jump to the highest for a mili second if even on boot, causing problems with the device actually booting.
Well just my 2 cents on OC'ing...

What about 2 cents on this VRAM apparently being doubled?
At the end of the day its not GMEM which is essentially like a processors cache. Our chip has 256kb of it. But the allocated VMEM, would upping it to 8MB provide any sort of performance increase?

Can you post some benchmarks for the CPU? And also tell us more about the VRAM... Did it make any difference?
I believe that the Xplay has good chances of reach 2.0GHZ, running fine, provided has an good thermal solution. In my test, the games run fine for some minutes, before start overheat. Needed of somebody to build an custom cooler, then, make some tests. In my opinion, the safe clock, for sure, is not only 1.6GHZ. Only for default cooler.

I CBF screen shooting but CPU at 2.1 is around 20% faster then 1.6 and the GPU is around 25% faster with a 2600 3d score in antutu without adrenobooster
I know it's kind of not allowed to redistribute this but can u upload the kernel and send it ti me (PM) cus I will take some screens ans my play can handle 2GHz fine but bootloops when gaming after about 30-50 minutwa (depends on intensity of game!)

Youd need a kernel that's overclockable. You cant just decided if you wanna overclock. We don't really have any kernel devs at the moment so I don't see it happening for now. I wish I knew enough to make a kernel hahah

overclocking does much of nothing on this phone. Doesn't boost benchmarks much (sometimes worse), phone is no faster. All it does is add heat and drain battery more. I've overclocked both stock rom and most 4.2.2 I've tried. The hardware is fast, this is not the olden days (like a year ago) when overclocking was helpful. I'm more interested in governor and functionality development from the kernels. Changing the governor effects performance much more than overclocking.
Not to mention this belongs in Q&A, not Dev

that was talked about in the code kernel thread and the reason why they are not enabling it is it can damage the phone/battery. so thats prob hwy none of the kernels for this phone have it.
Over clocking doesnt do anything on this phone.

CM 12.1/13 Kernel that supports GPU overclock

is there a cm 12.1/13 kernel that would let me overclock the GPU and RAM bus as well and not just the CPU ? been skimming through the forum to no avail, currently on teamsek cm 13, it's great but i can't overclock the GPU and bus using it's supplied kernel, i'm even willing to downgrade to cm 12.1 if such a kernel exists for cm 12.1

Maan, you are still trying to OC the GPU?? I answered you 2 times already. IT IS OF NO USE! GPU OC will even slow things down due to heating up like hell! RAM connection is the bottleneck in our case, so it won't help at all, except your goal is the kill the phone to buy a new one very quickly...
