Will the Rogers variant of Note 4 have S-Finder/Quick Connect buttons? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not one to root my phone so and tinker with warranty for the first year. However, having these two buttons as seen on the S5 will be a huge annoyance but one I may have to live with. Does anyone know if the Rogers S5 or Note 4 have this right out of the box, no settings to disable/hide it? TIA!

LOL anyone paranoid to root their phones shouldn't be posting on XDA. Root and your problems are solved. I root first day and never have any problems.

Does rooting your phone not void your warranty where you are?
I can root a device before I even get it thanks to this forum, losing warranty to root is what keeps me paranoid.

I rooted a note 3, broke the screen and took it into Samsung, they asked if I rooted it and I acted dumb, they fixed screen for free here in Mississauga. Root, you're golden.

[Q] Question about Asurion

Has anyone had to return a phone to Asurion that was rooted and they not accept it? Glass was OK but inside cracked and would not light up so could not unroot before sending. Did they try to charge more than the deductible after receiving the phone?
Thanks
Did you try what I told you to do? Hook up the mhl cable to a monitor so you could see the phone screen to triangle away and unroot. I guess not.

Thanks but you had to have told that to someone else. I should have thought of that. I don't know if they will. I just have not heard anything from them so far. It should make no difference to them. It being rooted has no bearing on the problem.
I've sent a lot of phones in for various reasons (clumsy) that were rooted and I have not encountered a problem.

Thanks that make me feel better. First time I have ever had to send one. Also first time I have rooted one.
They could care less.
You are paying them so if they did question it I would argue with them. You are right about not telling you about the mhl thing. Someone about a week ago posted the exact same thing. Lol.

How long before root

Usually or on the average, a week, a day, a month after release?
Whenever it comes.

I don't know that it works on the note 4, that is what I am trying to find out. I have used it on my note 3 and it works great and easy to remove if need be.

no one can tell you if it works on ATT until the ATT version of the note 4 is released, and some of the folks here try it out

i posted it in the main thread too for those that got it last week across the pond. The chances of it working look pretty good tho
I thought the towelroot exploit has been patched on the newest update for the S5. Honestly I'd assume for now that a new phone with new firmware will have existing exploits closed and that new ones will need to be found.
just tried it on my n910u, towelroot does not work it just says "phone is not supported"

Probably 2 min right after it's released. We'll let you know...
It's already been released overseas.
And no root for them yet..?
it takes American ingenuity for things like that to happen, so it will be another couple of weeks until its released in the good 'ole USA..

Help Note 3 N900V Root ???

Hello. I need help with my note 3 verizon n900v. I updated on 5.0 lollipop just to try to take off the apps for verizon but the apps are still here. So now i want to know if I can do the root for this version. I read a tutorial that said that is no way to do the root so I am trying to downgrade to 4.4.4 but I still don´t know if I can do the root for that version. If somebody can help it´s going to be great!! THANK YOU!!!
Your screwed! No root for either one yet and I have a feeling there isn't going to be a root

S6+ Now Rooted

Today i checked by (OneClickRoot) to see if they rooted the new S6+ or Not, and found that my device can be Rooted, but i am afraid to try, did anyone try this
I wouldn't be surprised if it works, but it will most likely trip knox, which will disable your ability to use Samsung pay... I just switched to the + from the regular S6 edge and I went months without rooting so that I can try out Samsung pay. And since it's coming out this Friday, I'm definitely going to hold off until then

nice ! good info
From what I read online the ATT version will not boot at all after root and it is the "A" version of that model number. It doesn't come up as supported yet. I feel confident someone will figure this out though.
What is coming out this Friday?

If it's only Samsung Pay that you lose who cares. I'd do that in a heartbeat but if it won't boot up, well...
i will just wait then until Friday and Root after its been tested and everything is fine

Good to hear but I thought Adguard was only a browser extension. How does it work within Android? Or is it a simple apk download from somewhere?

Yes I've been using it and it seems as effective as using Ad Away.
Only thing I'm not a fan of is that pesky key icon in the upper right in the notification bar. Any way of getting rid of it for good? I tried the usual of going in app properties and unchecking notifications and the app itself has this setting in its own menu (which gets rid of one of the two icons) but the key remains.
It's like after nuking the mothership in ID4, when the scope clears up, the target remains!

I need root for certain game application that I use / play to get rid of the droib blinds / boxes.

Is anyone else returning this phone?

In light of the high possiblity that the S7 Edge will not get root I have been considering returning the phone and wating for the LG G5. So my question Is am I the only one considering returning it over the possiblity of no root?
Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk
No, keeping mine.
I will be keeping mine. I have Exynos but not being able to root would not lead to me retuning the phone as it's not such a big deal to me.
However I understand your reasoning and believe a lot of people will also be returning due to this.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I'm enjoying it, I don't really need to root since Package Disabler is all I need anyways. Besides if I wanted root, I'd just wait for the next Nexus device.
It's disturbing that we might not get to root... but all is not lost. We don't know what Sprint will do yet.
I've returned mine because it was faulty, and thanks to Samsungs ****ty return policy I had to buy another s7e from a local store, waiting on my refund for the faulty one
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
It would be nice but it's not a deal breaker for me. Although, I haven't ever had a device I didn't end up hacking in some way so it would be a first.

Previous Samsung bootloaders were not locked that's why. The S6 was rooted by an exploit which was later patched.

That will most likely be the case. The only way it can be rooted is if someone can find an exploit once the source is released.

Ye the exynos can be rooted as the bootloader is not locked. It's only the snapdragon that cannot be rooted and the source is yet to be released.

There's already a root available for Exynos. I'm holding out as some people are currently working on a root that will not trip Knox so I'm hoping that will be successful and be released very soon.

The s7 for AT&T and Verizon won't be rooted most likely thanks to the locked bootloader. Sprint and T-Mobile will have root.

A lot of people are making that same assumption but all of them are locked so I don't think so myself.

Yea bootloader is locked, even if root is accomplished it will be very limited as far as custom roms and those sort of things, as well as being careful with automatic updates and stuff. I have till Saturday to make my return and barring some new development i more than likely will return mines. A stock device is too basic for me.

My feelings exactly. I love many things about this device but no root means no fun... yes there are a few work arounds but not enough. I hate stupid volume warning message an how I cannot take local backups with twrp an titanium backup. Also. xposed installer.
Back to Note 4 for me. I've been carrying them both around for the past week an surprisingly switching back to the Note 4 isn't that much of a difference justifying worth losing my access to root.
Are people really that negative that the S7 Edge snapdragon varient won't get root?
