How long before root - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Usually or on the average, a week, a day, a month after release?

Whenever it comes.

I don't know that it works on the note 4, that is what I am trying to find out. I have used it on my note 3 and it works great and easy to remove if need be.

Gotcha thanks

no one can tell you if it works on ATT until the ATT version of the note 4 is released, and some of the folks here try it out

i posted it in the main thread too for those that got it last week across the pond. The chances of it working look pretty good tho

I thought the towelroot exploit has been patched on the newest update for the S5. Honestly I'd assume for now that a new phone with new firmware will have existing exploits closed and that new ones will need to be found.

just tried it on my n910u, towelroot does not work it just says "phone is not supported"

Probably 2 min right after it's released. We'll let you know...

It's already been released overseas.
And no root for them yet..?

it takes American ingenuity for things like that to happen, so it will be another couple of weeks until its released in the good 'ole USA..

Possible, true. Unlikely though unless you are going though in excess of 5 gigs a month every month. I have been using 3-5 gigs a month for 6+ months, never even gotten a warning.

If they boot me, they release me from contract. Easy enough to put it in someone elses name and have new upgrade options. Would be doing me a favor lol.

But you wouldn't keep the same phone number. Well don't think they would. For someone like me with 6 years with the same cell # would be tough.

Will the Rogers variant of Note 4 have S-Finder/Quick Connect buttons?

I am not one to root my phone so and tinker with warranty for the first year. However, having these two buttons as seen on the S5 will be a huge annoyance but one I may have to live with. Does anyone know if the Rogers S5 or Note 4 have this right out of the box, no settings to disable/hide it? TIA!

Does rooting your phone not void your warranty where you are?
I can root a device before I even get it thanks to this forum, losing warranty to root is what keeps me paranoid.

Yeah got it direct from them. Was locked to ee so I asked them to unlock it and they wouldn't until I had the phone 6 months. So I found that website and it worked a treat, cheap too.

Bounty verizon note 7 root

I'd like to officially kick off the bounty for rooting the verizon note 7. I'm certainly no pro at this stuff which is why I come to you guys for the knowledge I'm always seeking. That being said I'm not even sure how to go about donating to said bounty fund. If someone smarter than myself would like to setup said fund I'll happily throw a good chunk of cash in there for the cause. Thanks in advance.
I will contribute as well. Thanks @solos420 for getting this started.

Verizon and AT&T phones have been nearly identical in recent years. Both are usually more locked down than T-Mobile (for example). Starting with the S7 and S7edge and now with the Note 7, almost all firmware can be universally flashed. Verizon is the best platform as they are already Sim-unlocked.
Interesting! You said your running the ATT firmware didn't you? So your rom is basically the att version?

It will. The system file is what you keep from the Sprint rom.. The nice thing is that the rom is a pre-carrier release so basically before Sprint got their hands on it to add their own bloatware.
You essentially perform the Sprint root guide but right before rooting via adb, you flash the CP, BL, and CSC from the Verizon firmware.
