[SM-T800] Stock NH1 Base (De-Odexed, De-Knoxed) [10/5] - Galaxy Tab S Android Development

Hey All,
I'm pretty new to XDA, but I wanted to share some stuff I'm working on. I noticed that the SM-T800 (10.5" Wifi) was missing some more recent updates, so I decided to give it a spin creating a base stock ROM using the T800XXU1ANH1 update released in September.
What I did:
Based on Stock TouchWiz build T800XXU1ANH1 (Italy release)
Rooted
De-Odexed
De-Knoxed
Zip-Aligned
Init.d Support
Some disclaimers:
This is my first ROM.
I cannot guarantee you this will not destroy your device
Flash at your own risk!
If you like this ROM, or if you want to use it as a base for your own project, feel free! I don't expect anything in return. I really just hacked this together using JustArchi's excellent ArchiKithen (thanks Archi!)
Again, this is my first project, so feedback is welcome. I would have posted this in the Android Development forum, but I don't have access
Cheers!

Hi there, flashed the ROM, it's running quite well. Noticed the following:
1- ROM appears to hot have the sdcard fix (unable to write to sdcard)
Other than this, running well. Would you be adding the multi boot menu ?
Also, what has been updated from the ANY version to this one?

continued development?
Hi there
Just wondering if you were still developing for this ROM,.
Will you be releasing an update based on the newest ANI1 update?

Can't connect to my 5g wifi router for some reason?

Same thing here, I can connect to my 2ghz, but not 5ghz.
I flashed the stock ROM and I can connect to both 2 & 5ghz, so it appears there may be an issue with this ROM.
Hopefully swaj will release a ROM update from the ANH1 to the ANI1 update with the 5ghz fix

NI1 is just for csc. Newest usable pda is still NH1 (chinese NI1 pda is not very usable as swaj found out). It would be nice to see someone release NH1 to T805. I don't want to flash with odin and then re-root and install twrp again and don't know how to make flashable zip roms.

i'm checking out this rom, i'll give feedback

[INFO] Centralize Galaxy Tab P1000L/P1000N Development

Hi fellows,
For sure, more than 95% of ROM development at XDA is devoted to P1000 version (Euro/USA/... Galaxy Tab version). Unfortunately (or not...), Samsung released at Latin America two different versions of GT: P1000L and P1000N. My researches shown that theses version has different hardware from P1000 one, and the most important, IMO, is the touchscreen. Conclusion: when we try to use custom ROMs, we aren't able to even use it.
So, I have started this thread to centralize information regarding P1000L/P1000N. Please, if you have these devices and have already tried to use a custom ROM or Kernel, please post the information here. With this, we can verify what modifications we need to make to adapt XDA custom ROMs/Kernels to our GTs.
We have the following topics here on XDA about our devices:
Humberto's ROM and Kernel (Froyo)
Humberto have compiled a Froyo Kernel and ROM with many improvements
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974408
Humberto's Kernel (Gingerbread)
Humberto have modified the original, leaked P1000N gingerbread kernel to add Lagfix and gave us instructions how P1000L users can flash P1000N gingerbread version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124224
My Gingerbread kernel
I have compiled a P1000L/N kernel for gingerbread after the source code release, adding many things like UV, OC, new governors, etc. To avoid mess with Humberto's thread, I decided to start a new one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274855
With the right kernels now, we can flash customs ROM like:
BOCA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172307
Overcome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205990
CM7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931857
OBS.: Always refer to P1000L/N Gingerbread thread from Humberto to verify which kernel you need to flash to use one of these ROMs!
Thanks!
I can provide the PDA, Modem and CSC Multi files to be flashed in Odin for P1000N from Claro provider if they're needed at all, only downside is that they're JJ1 not the JJ5 which they're currently shipping Tabs with. Honestly I don't see any difference between the versions, but there should be some.
Well, apparently we got a new kernel for GT-P1000L deceives that camera and TV tuner is fully working and has interesting capabilities, like 1.4GHz overclocking! Thanks to @humberos. More info on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974408
Additionally, my Vivo GT has received an update through Kies and now my ROM version is P1000LVJJMA, which I don't know yet if this kernel is compatible. I have contact @humberos and we will try to find out.

Currently http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124224 is a Gingerbread Kernel that can run a version of CM7.
I can not attest to validity of the ROM, as I don't have a latin version, but yeah... There it is.

Are you on stock rom ? I upgraded my p1000n to gingerbread overcome and feel that the battery last less than with froyo.

I see a lot of P1000CWLZTO being offered in online shops in Brazil.
Would that be a third version: "P1000C"?
What are the differences between the L, N and C versions?
I do like to have the digital TV. Actually, is it just 1seg? Does it show 16:9 broadcasts correctly (soccer!)?
Thanks!
Hi! I just got a gt-P1000n unlocked tablet from Chile. I leave in Canada.
Froyo 2.2, baseband P1000NUBJM2.
This is my first expeeience with android, i come from wm.
I've got a lot to learn.
After many unsuccessful attempts with z4root, i did root my tab with oneclickroot.
I have read these latin tabs are different than others. How?
Lesser quality?
I can't find any specs comparaison on the web.
Thanks

Not at all... just a little different in hardware. I had that firmware on my P1000N. Maybe if you check on the small print on the back of your tab, you should see P1000N... let us know.
Basically we have a few different Tab hardwares. The P1000, Euro US and etc, both GSM and CDMA versions. Latin versions P1000L / N (and maybe C as commented above). P1000L and N are the same, except P1000N does NOT have TV, P1000L has TV, 1seg like in Brazil. There is also another different hardware, the Tab with wifi only (no SIM chip).
Since P1000 is the most commonly used one, there is a lot more development going on for it... but luckyly we have HumberOS for the salvation of our latin version tabs. Just Google "xda humberos" to find his posts.
Cheers.
Yes i have the 1000N.
I read here it is difficult to flash an gingerbread orovercome rom!?!?
Only Hubertos roms are working, isn't it?
Thanks

You can flash Gingerbread from Samsung. If you want to flash anything customized, like Overcome rom, you need to do it through humberos kernel, made for our latin tabs.

Yes, you loose root. Then you can just flash humberos' cf-root or voodoo lagfix kernel to get root back. Overcome is very good and stable. Just remember to replace the zImage file inside Overcome's zip file with HumberOS' kernel voodoo lagfix.

That's it. Read the last page of the thread. rlkalves just flashed Gingerbread.
Always use original USB cable from Samsung for flashing. Don't use USB HUBs. Make sure you have a good tight USB port, make sure your Windows and USB Drivers are all 100% and close all software to run ODIN or Heimdall ALONE.
i got a p1000n from comcel (colombian provider) and i flashed overcome, and is pretty awesome, maybe if you want i can make you a guide

I did install Overcome Hermes but overlooked the fact that there is still not usb connection to pc. Al sd cards and browse.though from kies i am able to get into internal and external
What is the procedure to go to another gb rom like Jupiter?
Is it a matter of repackaging the Jupiter's zip with latest zImage from first post and install via sd card with Recovery Cwm mode?
Restart from begining with stock Froyo?
Wait for Humberto to work on it?
For CM7?
From hermes do i directly
Download CM7 Beta
Uncompress .zip file and replace zImage.
Use Heimdall to flash it.

[Q] building otas out of a rom

Is it possible when i have a rom and there is updatet version to build a ota out of it? that everybody who wanna download only has to download ota and all is good. Would make some roms more attractiv. In my case i only have the traffic of my mobile provider and i only have 3gb of free traffic.
And when somebody tells me how it works i would make some ota for my favorite roms.
Best regards vision03.

Yes that's possible, there even devs that update there rom when there is a new kernel. Back in the days when I flashed with my Xperia x10 that was always the case. Just flash a update. Not possible if it's a whole new base/different firmware.
Would be nice if devs do that. So I can download it on 3g.
Good point this thread.
re
For example. Jamals google rom is not a complete new system coming from v1 final to v2.2 final. There have been added missing files and have been fixed some problems. How do devs fix problems. They change some lines in existing files. So it would be possible only to change this files.
Also coming from x10 and therefore wolfbreak also offers ota updates for his roms.
So it also should be also possible for our sammy phone. And sorry that i say something like that. Sammy also provides ota updates for nearly every update. Also in case of a complete system update so i can't see why it is not possible for costum roms.
Is there anywhere a how to of making ota files that i could test this. I think a rom would be much more attractiv for a bigger community if there are ota files.
Best regards vision03.
No one a tip for me?

He got us started on this and showed us @scrosler’s guide to build a stock rom. He has helped us so much through this entire process especially by getting the updater scripts working for the rom. Before thanking us thank those two first!

Micro SD Cards
Does this rom do anything toward fixing the problems with MicroSD cards in Android 4.4 I am looking for a way to have full control over my 64gb card again on this tablet. If this rom does not do that and you know of something that does please let me know.
If I wipe everything using Advanced Wipe in TWRP that includes internal storage, where the rom is stored before installing it.. If internal storage is wiped how do I flash the rom with TWRP? I can't flash it from my PC, I guess I could ADB sideload it but that is a lot of hassle. Does internal storage really need wiping?
Confused noob. Bought my first android device a few days ago.
Edit: I have no external storage yet.

On the internal storage are a lot of samsung files stored.
So without wiping the internal storage you will get a LOT of samsung bloatware back...
But it should work, flashing without wiping internal storage.
The ideal situation is to have your ROM on the external card/storage so you can wipe your device completely and start with a clean fresh ROM.

Aight, I went to a friends house and borrowed his external sdcard so I can flash your rom and try it out. Thanks for the reply! Doing this mainly to get rid of the bloatware.
Working perfectly, only thing I've noticed is an odd graphical glitch now and then. Mainly when turning it on (during samsung model display) or when I take it out of sleep. Should one be concerned? Seems to work fine other than that. Also flashed cybertronics v5 kernel

https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/42
All in all this looks like a good thread with the most important stuff listed very well.
I hope you will keep it updated what new stuff comes out for our device!
Hei guys
Did anyone update to lolipop 5..0.2 ? How is the overall performance and battery life ? Does it suffer from the infamous memory leak ?
I received my update via OTA and still thinking about updating or not.
Thank you !

As for the overall performance, I can say that it really improved for me. Everything is very fast and smooth, I love it, especially with the new animations!
The battery life for me is about the same as with Kitkat, maybe just a little bit better but no huge differences.
Too bad the memory leak is present, you might get some of its consequences every now and then. But, as I already said, overall it's still faster than Kitkat for me.

Hey quicksandmg
I would say do the update because performance and battery life is even or maybe even a little better than an KitKat.
I suggest you reboot your device ones a day do free memory which may be used because of the leak.
Overall I am quit happy with the update but if you need Xposed you should stay on Kitkat until we fixed the cache problem.

Thank you for your answers,
Even though im on a dedicated forum, i rather stay stock due to lack of knowledge.
Well....if the memory leak is present, im staying on kitkat. Its not ultra fast, but fast enough. Plus the buttons look better
I have LG G3 Beat Dual SIM ............. I just wondering if I should update to lollipop or not , since I just got the update but I didn't update ..
can some one take some screen shots for the update and what is new.
also hope someone review the update with the most common issues
thank you in advance
got a d722k. still waiting for lollipop OTA
What about xposed? I guess i'll have to freeze/uninstall weather services and smartcover?
Edit.
Xposed works, but you have to flash zip from twrp. Before doing so, smartcover and lg weather services must be freezed. easiest way via ADB
adb shell (check the phone, and click ok)
su
pm disable com.lge.smartcover
pm disable com.lge.sizechangable.weather
pm disable com.lge.sizechangable.weather.platform
Don't forget to activate usb debugging.
My xposed installer is doing it automatically..but..people anyway report that phone process stops when xposed is installed
There is still a bug with Xposed that makes the phone process stop on our phones, even if you disable those LG apps. The maker of Xposed (rovo89) knows about this issue and confirms it, he is trying to find the cause of the bug. When he finds that, might fix it. See the comment of rovo89 himself: https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/42

Hey ThePietn1
I will Update the first page with more information about Xposed later on.
Hopefully people will start reading and stop asking if it is working.
Since you already said twice that rovo89 is working on a solution.

No this is a part of the Android source code provided by LG (Since they made some changes to the Android OS)
If you would download the official Android source code plus the code provided by LG and you would have a lot of time and knowledge you could develop a CM for your device.
But you should be able to download the KDZ file for your phone with the website I linked in the first post

Will what in particular work?
You have a different device and you have to search for your device.
If it has similar specs you may be able to root your device and maybe twrp will work to but I cannot say for sure since this thread is mainly for d722 and d724.
But I am not a developer.

I already have root. They are the same device as i have been told and seen. I just want to know if the recovery will work
Well if you say it's "the same device" then you already have the answer. But different model means different device. You are free to try but it's not advised
The reason im asking is if you look up our phones they are all listed as the same. Including the cases available. Multiple sites list them as the same so i want to know if someone on the G3 Vigor LS885 has tried this.

Skinny_Pro Custom Boot Image for RN3

Hey guys, I have adapted my work on custom boot images to cover the Redmi Note 3.
I don't want to manage another thread so wander over to the RN2 thread where I will host work on the RN3 also.
A functional version is now available based on 7.2.50 boot.img. It will be slimmed down further to match the RN2 version but I need to be guided by feedback on what works as I do not have your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/b-skinny-pro-t3347906
Thanks you . i will test
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwdRTuyj12_ydFl0VGM4YWpZMWM/view?pref=2&pli=1
It is link?
---------- Post added at 04:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 PM ----------
It is working on rom dev 6.4.28 Testing more. What more can i do to improve battery life. Sr my english so bad
@phunghai110 All of the tweaks that apply to the Redmi Note 2 also apply to the Redmi Note 3.
The boot.img enables you to create an init.d script which is the main tool for managing performance / battery life.
Start by making sure your Busybox installation is up to date. Link to my BB 1.24-2 updater here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwdRTuyj12_yY01jZGFTZi14X3c/view?usp=sharing
Next, update SuperSu to any recent full version (don't rely upon the stock MIUI included versions)
Now do everything in the first post here except for deleting fingerprint related files of course:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/b-skinny-pro-t3347906
Leave the zram lines disabled at the moment until I release a boot.img that successfully disables mcd service (waiting on feedback from Test3 version)
This should be enough to see an improvement. More to come.
Does it work on "unofficial" Miui Roms too ? Like this one lhttp://en.miui.com/thread-277452-1-1.html ? It's a 6.5.5 Global Rom

not sure, but if you have an unlocked bootloader & custom recovery there is not much of a risk to just try it out - just be sure to safe the original boot.img first!
i, for one, can confirm that it work's well on this modified rom by quakze: http://en.miui.com/thread-236615-1-1.html

Okay, thanks. I will try. I had the fear that it could hard brick my phone.
Every MTK based (advanced) phone user should familiarize themselves with using SP Flash tools - a hard brick is virtually impossible since the MTK chip is hard-coded to power on and be flashed via USB when it receives the special code sequence from such software. One piece of advice: Never-ever do a format using this tool unless you want to loose your nvram partition and hence IMEI.
Skinny_Pro_RN3_MIUI_7250-5_boot.img is looking stable (thanks to @schmanto for testing)
I cannot say whether it will be compatible with 6.5.5 yet but someone will tell me soon enough - there is no risk of anything disastrous happening and you will always have a good backup to recover too if it messes up
Tell me please 8020 v8 will work with RN3?
Okay, I read everything, but couldn't understand much (sorry )
Still I'm a go for experiments and testing, always ...
So what exactly is SkinnyPro, and why should I flash it? P.S. I hate Xiaomi, too! *high five* xD
