Let me give you an example:
Few month back when moto e was on 4.4.2, and 4.4.3 came out, each and every customer care agent confirmed we will get 4.4.3 then sudenly 4.4.4 was released by google then this customer care agent started telling each and every users who contacted them: some saying we will get first 4.4.3 and then 4.4.4 while other saying we will directly go to 4.4.4.
In my case instead of contacting this stupid customer care agent, i contacted the official forum created by motorola for moto e and asked this question there and the administrator (who himself is part of the Motorola and was replying officially to all question) replied that as of now nothing is decided..
Eventually we got 4.4.4 bypassing 4.4.3 so this shows that unless officially Motorola announces it there is no base for such confirmation, i am members of lots of facebook motorola group and in that some show this type of proof confirming while some show same type of converstion with motorola agent who says that they don't know.

thats their marketing policy...giving sudden surprises so that everyone screams"moto is best..they gave us an unexpected update"and in there official comment they have mentioned this 4.4.4 update to be a cherry on top. and the real dessert is yet to come..

ok it will be nice if someone asks the csa about the update and lets see what they answer now,,its around 6 now..so plz make it quick

reallyyyyy
If its on way then its great......but i don't believe them till it reached my fone.

You can always hit the thanks button..

There is a possibility of android L for two reasons, 1.moto's marketing strategy 2. SD card support and L fr "one".

absolutely...its same as android one phones..(4gb rom )and the L update gonna overcome this mistake.and the ram wont be an issue as for next 2 years 1gb ram can take the updates(they are there in android one phones man!!). and after the update our moto is going to make the guys mouth shut off with asus zenfone 4 and mmx unite 2.yeepiiee..

Competition with Android One
Yeah... To compete the android one phones, Motorola has to update moto e to Android L...

Hints on lollipop release date!

I was talking to live chat with Motorola support and managed to get connected to an employee who seemed to not care that the chat session was monitored.
I was asking about general stuff related to my battery and the Turbo. Towards the end of the chat I figured this guy might have some kind of idea whats going on in the company that he works for. So I asked about the release date for 5.0.
He answered very enthusiastically and hinted that Motorola is ready to release the update and that the only thing next on their list is to select an official Advert with Verizon. From the sound of it - we will not be experiencing the usual delay that Verizon has created for updates. Expect Lollipop on your Droid Turbo by December 1st.
Me personally. I'm waiting for root and boot unlock. But for all of you happy with Lollipop the wait is not too long.
Lets see if this all plays true come December 1st.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought it would be fast but not that fast. I figured they pretty much wanted it to run 5.0 very soon after launch.

How many phones have not been rooted? In my personal experience every phone I've ever owned has eventually gotten root.
G1 (HTC dream)
HTC mytouch slide
Thunderbolt
Galaxy s4
I know there's probably a bunch of phones that haven't been rooted but are there any phones with high demand for root that have not been rooted?

OTA's are rolled out by carriers not OEM's so I take this news as a grain of salt. If it was a Verizon Rep then I would be souped.

From what I've heard, root will be nearly impossible without unlocked bootloader on lollipop. Sadly, I'm not getting my hopes up for Turbo root on 5.0 unless we get bootloaders unlocked...again, seems unlikely

Yeah, with JCase saying that Sunshine V3.0 can't support Motorola on 4.4.4, and the secure kernel crap that will block root on Lollipop, I think this phone will stay stock unless a Chinese middleman pops up again or something.
Guys just realize you can kiss any hope of an unlock and root exploit goodbye if you update. It's going to suck; either choose unlock or 5.0
I pretty much left root behind when I got the Turbo. Moved to the share plan so I don't need the hotspot hack. I used TiBu a lot moving from phone to phone and ROM to ROM but I really didn't have much data that I had to have. Mostly when I was listening to back catalogs of Podcasts I would want to restore the app I was using so it kept my place. Now I have moved on to something different. And I did lose some game data but it was stupid stuff like Temple Run and Monsters Ate My Condo, nothing like an RPG or something. And really thats what root did for me. I am ready for 5.0.
I also think that the 5.0 update will have VoLTE. Maybe they got Google to roll it into 5.0 so instead of hitting each device individually with a VoLTE update, if they get 5.0 they will also get VoLTE (and it brings the Nexus 6 on VoLTE faster as well).

Chainfires detailed post on how root will more than likely (read; definitely) going to need a custom kernel to work. Kernel flashes need an unlocked bootloader. 5.0 comes with even more selinux restrictions which make any kind of exploitation harder. All in all, 5.0 is way more locked down and harder to unlock. Simply getting a root exploit without unlock is not likely

You're right to be frustrated. Like yourself, I'm still waiting on the lollipop update for my global US retail of the xt1032. From the moment Lenovo took over the company, the US version of the moto G has been the last to get update. Look at the time they took to update use to 4.4.4 from 4.4.3. A whole three or four months after it was released to every other region for the phone but we were the first to get the update to 4.4.3 while they skipped for 4.4.3 to 4.4.4 for the other regions. I have no hope of seeing the update coming before July or before android 5.2 comes out. Ridiculous.
And what did you expected to receive talking to Motorola Chat? Did you expected to talk to a developer? Mind yourself that the person who answers the questions are girls from 20 to 30 years old that own a Nokia Lumia phone and dont know anything about ETAs of OTAs...And even if they knew something about that, they wont release any info to an average Moto user..
Also, there is no need to be like that when chatting to customer service... No need to be rough.. Just flash CM12, works great already, or flash BR Lollipop, its rocky stable! When the day comes, go to US Lollipop.
So, no need to open a new thread for this man,,, take it easy.
Cheers!

I totally agree. This is just unacceptable. The way you talk to another human being. You are extremely rude. If I was the moto representative, I'd just disconnect from you. Moto support is for people who need help with their phones. What did you expect will be the outcome, that they'll give you the update over moto support? I know they often don't help well with normal stuff, but that doesn't give you a right to be rude to them. Go and get a life

People like you are the reason Motorola stopped Soak tests.
Guys you should not be worried about updates, you should enjoy the phone, previously I have a nexus 5 and believe me updates are not what we expected, lollipop make me need to reboot the phone everyday cause leak, camera, flash, and 5.1 was the same thing I was very disappointed with Google.
Now I have a moto g and I can use my phone everyday without having to worried about battery, flash, ram and so on.

There's a problem here. You know what's great about Android most of the time? The ability to develop custom ROMs for it and tweak it to make it our own.
You know what's not acceptable? Locking bootloaders, not letting certain groups of us unlock it, and essentially preventing us from owning what's rightfully ours. I don't mean to sound entitled here, but the hardware is mine, I legally purchased it, and I should be able to break it all I want. I have no issue with Motorola taking their time to make sure Lollipop is the best it can be. My issue is the fact that just because I have a "branded" device, I'm not allowed to unlock my bootloader and install a different ROM. And I'm not even an ATT/Cricket customer, so why should I be subjected to their rules?
Sorry about the rant, it's just an issue that really bothers me here.

[INFO] TestDrive vs. Soak Test vs. Full Deployment + News Update [2015-06-23]

Thanks to David Schuster, we have a nice clear and concise distinction. (https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/7gyi8NQZTZB)
TestDrive --> Early validation to a small group (20-200) of individuals that can last weeks to months.
Soak Test --> Next stage, using the final release candidate lasting usually 2-7 days.
Full deployment --> Last stage, full roll out of update.
Moto X 1st Gen 5.1 Update (2015-06-23):
--> Looks like the final release version will be 222.21.15 for those who didn't know already. (https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/105221)
--> Full soak tests for France and Germany Retail. (https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/ETpoNrkmmrA)
--> Started soak tests for the following retail devices: Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and United Arab Emirates. (https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/ci1UAEv2oYB)
--> Full deployment for US Retail, Rogers Canada and Brazil Retail. (https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/bEVD4De32Uo)
--> A few reports of the Retail GB OTA Update. Check here for more info.

Motorola support employees know nothing about updates. They are reading from a script, and they don't really know what to say about future updates. So, yeah, no pinches of salt, just ignore whatever they say.

The problems with this is the device is extremely limited. I believe they've only shipped devices to Mexico and India for the moment. So until us western guys get our hands on a turbo, I'm afraid you're waiting for india/mexico developers. Once one of us out here gets a hand on one you can be sure there will be more development. (More people with the phone)
I'm not saying that development from India, Mexico, wherever is bad. (At all, a lot of amazimg stuff is purely from those regions.) I'm just saying right now only about 1/4 of the world is going to see that turbo so until it's widely released who knows.

Thanks :good:
Seems there is no compass/magnet sensor on turbo
I'm using g2 and very much satisfied with it (CM13)
One of my friend is deciding between g3 and turbo
This will help her.

Some where I read that now a days GPS satellite give the device information about direction and poles so sensor is not provided in some phones...
But still having an option is good motorola should have provided one :silly:

That's strange. Both Moto G3 and Moto X Play do have a magnetometer.
Now in the Moto G Turbo which is placed in between those devices Motorola suddenly decides to scrap the magnetometer? Wtf.
I'm new here. This model is also available in Brazil. Recently i did the root,(following the steps of rooting access in the tradicional moto g 2015) but the process is different to get twrp. I only could get the temporary. I'll be waiting for a fixed twrp.(btw, thats it . my english is not good enough, lol)
