[Q] How-to Change Boot Logo - Xiaomi Mi 2

Hey guys, before several months, Xiaomi Inc. changed the bootlogo, the difference was on the website i think.
To the point, is there are an option to flash a custom bootlogo via fastboot?
I found "fastboot flash logo logo.bin", does this work with Xiaomi Mi2s? And how can create a .bin?

It should work, you can dump it with "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/logo.bin",modify it then flash it back with "fastboot flash logo logo.bin".
You can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953726

[Q] [Mi2S] Impossible to flash custom recovery on MIUI 5.5.15 Beta

Hi everyone,
I've run out of ideas on this one and other threads couldn't really help me/were closed already.
I tried CM, stock android by Ivan and M1cha as well as some others, but about a month ago, I was curios for MIUI 6 based on Lollipop for my Mi2s and changed from M1cha's CM12 5.0.1.
Now that I've seen that Ivan published his 5.1.1 I wanted to try it out. He also provides us with a modified custom recovery that I wanted to flash.
First, I renamed the file to update.zip and tried to flash it in Mi-Recovery 2.0.1, which didn't work due to the failing signature verification.
Also, choosing update package in the Updater app in MIUI didn't work out, it immediately tells me something went wrong.
Then I thought, why not use fastboot? That worked before.
Not this time. I tried the simple way, meaning just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img: Then, bc it didn't work, I first erased the recovery partition and then flashed the recovery.img, which was still unsuccessful.
Whenever I try to enter recovery mode, my phone just gets stuck showing the MI logo and not doing anything.
I can reenter fastboot mode or simply reboot to the system as usual, except for when no system is installed.
When I gave up on the custom recovery thing, I simply tried to flash the ROM via update.zip methods, as well as via fastboot. None of them worked, either because the signature verification fails (stock recovery) or because the zip file does not contain the android-info.txt and the other txt file.
As mentioned above, upon entering fastboot -w and then flashing the recovery.img, I can suddenly enter recovery mode. This sucks!
TL;DR: No usual method of flashing either custom rom or recovery works (to my knowledge)
Can anyone help me? I know its stupid but I start feeling kind of boxed in on MIUI.
Thanks in advance

EDL has been removed from Global 8.0.3.0 Build, be careful if you flash it. You better have unlocked BL if you do.
And i tried everything but can not gain EDL mode.
Second info, maybe it will be useful, don't flash this version now, wait for new one this has other problems also.
I just did this with my Xiaomi Mi 5S in order to flash Chinese ROM to the new Global Stable ROM. Since I did not have Unlocked bootloader I used your method, created myself a cable and it all went just like your manual said. Helped me plenty. So I confirm the guide it is great. I am even thinking of borrowing this post to post it as a Guide how to flash Chinese ROM to Global Stable which is actually an issue since, the Chinese ROM does not support flashing via Update method, so it would require unlock. OR Depp Flash If you wont mind.
error
it shows can not read from port . what to do now?
EDL method no longer works miui8.2.3
After the update miui8.2.3 the EDL method does not work anymore, now I am stuck, please if you have solutions thanks to help me my MI5s is bocked

Hi, have similar problem-ie. locked phone and still locked bootloader-would like to try the fun with deep flash cable. I got 7.5 /not 8.0.3/ by now.
Would it work afterwards? Would I have UNLOCKED bootloader afterwards? How to do this and not bricking the phone?
cheers,
Is this method outdated?
I'm trying to flash the natrium_global_images_V8.0.4.0.MBGMIDI_20161216.0000.00_6.0_global rom however I'm stuck while it says "flashing". I have waited 15 minutes but the progress is 0.

Unable to flash it through twrp
i tried to flash it but my logo comes only for a second and then it gets replaced by the stock logo (note i have a custom ROM and have different boot video ) fastboot logo is fine it works
I tried too and had the same result, only fastboot works.
I also tried to flash a custom logo, but I didn't use the .bat file because I'm using a linux OS. I searched to find a linux version of the script but I found only a request in another device' s thread with no answer from the creator of the tool. So I tried to use the commands from .bat file. I used "cat" command to join the files which I found that is equivalent to "copy /b" and the "720x1280_header.img" which provided, but it didn't work. I get only af small penguin icon for both fastboot and splash which I suppose is the linux kernel' s default splash. For fastboot I used the "fastboot.img" which also provided, so doesn't seems that is the image I made problem.
Doesn't Work! Atleast must update the thread.

[GUIDE]How to Change Splash Screen (Boot Logo) of Mi Max 2

Note:
This is not bootanimation, this is the splash screen (the 'Mi' boot logo which is displayed when device is switched ON)
This is for Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Only (Snapdragon Devices)..
(For other devices, please send me your splash.img so that I can create a tool for you too.)
Requirements:
1. Rooted Xiaomi Mi Max 2 (any ROM)
2. Terminal Emulator app or custom recovery or fastboot.
STEPS to create & install splash.img:
(It's the same procedure as that for Xiaomi Mi 5)
Note:
For devices with the latest Nougat firmware, the splash screen is no longer loaded from the splash.img..
Instead, it gets loaded from the logo.img ..
The latest logo.img from @greddy seems to have 6 pictures, each in RBG24 format.
For Mi 5, @Cynob has created a tool for Mi 5 Nougat firmware here (for 5pics): https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/modified-splash-img-dont-try-logo-t3604134..
You may try to extend it for 6 pictures for Mi Max2.. If you do so, pls tell me, so that I'll link this post to the post that you create..
(I'm a little busy these days, so I'm sorry, I'll do create the tool from scratch when I find time)
Thanks to @greddy who provided the stock splash.img of Mi Max 2.

Hey, flashing the stock splash.img should fix the problem..
As of now, I don't have the latest splash.img that is supported by your latest firmware.
If you can send your latest stock splash.img, I'll try to create a tool for it
And BTW, I'm very sorry for my late replies, I just saw all the replies in this thread

Hello! could someone do a standard google splash screen for mi max2, preferably for installation through twrp.
Not working on my device
Flashing the splash image didn't change anything.
I think flashing the logo should work.
Anybody please develop Logo maker for mi max 2.

I use the "normal" rom boot.img to root a McLaren Edition. i'm do it wrong?

Hi.
I found in this forum a boot.img of 10.0.3, and i patch it and flash to my McLaren Edition, now, in the settings, appears "One Plus 7t pro" instead "One Plus 7T pro McLaren Edition"
The device works fine, but it is that detail that bothers me.
Does everyone think so? or "McLaren Edition" appears in the device information
Does anyone have the ROM or OTA of 10.0.4 McLaren Edition international? or at least the Boot.img
Thanks!

"fastboot boot boot.img" command is used to boot from the boot.img from your pc . what it does is that it boots the phone from the boot.img on your pc instead of the one that is in your phone. That way you can try out the patched img file to see if it is ok . If the phone does not boot then you simply reboot it normally after disconnecting it from your pc and you revert back without any permanent modification to your phone. On the other hand if it does boot normally and you want to continue with this modified (rooted) boot.img file than you have two options.
1. After booting from modified boot.img patch your phones boot.img with magisk direct install and reboot or
2. Flash the modified boot.img on your pc to the phone with "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command . This will permanently flash the modified boot.img on your phone
