Report it to sony mobile forum...they may have a look at it..

I wouldnt say a red tint...
Galaxy Alphas video colours are much warmer and Z3's is more neutral.
Pretty sure the colours can be tweaked.

I wouldnt agree....redness is seen specially on the steel part of the pic...which should be silver greyish

Look at the clouds and the wall of the house

I'm not seeing any problems either.

I dont see a problem either. you can choose the white balance and it'll look just like the galaxy alpha if thats what you like. maybe sony should default to that mode because its pleasing to the eye and would get more buyers.. exactly why samsung and apple do it.
also, what with people all uploading 4k recordings at 720p? thats kinda defeating the purpose a bit...

I think it appears only in the video
Photos is very good
Xperia z3 have the same problem

The video is really bad - colours are way off. It's nothing like as noticeable in the photos, with the exception of the ferris wheel. It's pretty obvious on that one.

color issue?

is it just my phone or what here?
I have noticed the saturation of colors on my atrix are just horrible specially green which makes yellow and orange that's why yellow and orange are really off... just me or everyone? if so anyone got an idea on how to tackle this issue?
search is your friend, its not just your phone. Its also not really a problem for a lot of people, myself included, since id take it over supersaturated colors any day.
The Colors on my phone look like the colors on my Touch Pro. What I mean is that they look the way they should.

Agreed, mine looks fine to my eyes. Best looking screen I've ever had on a device besides my G73JW.

I cannot complain. My color look ok to me.
The resolution is amazing I can't lie but the quality and the color are **** compared to my amoled desire.. green is too dark and the quality of the picture is wack too pixelated...
everyone who says it's not important is lying at least a little. the screen is not perfect, period. one needs only to look at a green image or moving red image to see the flaws in the screen design.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
As a color blind person I can say that the greens look fine to me. and thanks for saying I am lying even if only a little.
There have been a couple of colour comparisons, and I believe the concensus has been that the Atrix has more "realistic" colours, while we are more used to other devices having colours that "pop" with over saturation. We have become accustomed to over saturation, and so when we see colours on a screen that more closely match real world colours, we think there is something wrong. I will take the Atrix colours over anything else I have used.
<edit> I have seen one comparison where correct colour calibration techniques were used to compare the Atrix to I believe the iPhone4. I will try to find it again and post a link.

100% agree.
Really really like this colour.
I hope Tmobile's version will be this color, since they are advertising it as metallic blue. This looks way better IMO!
I think this should have been the other colour instead of blue. Gunmetal grey always looks hot.

Its just a blue one with funny lighting. It looks quite grey/black in many lights. The Samsung press shots make the blue one look much lighter than it is.

I would tend to agree with this.
All the press photos of the blue make it look quite blue, but all the "real" photos (from blogs and such) make it look a lot darker. I doubt they've changed anything.

I got the pebble blue earlier tonight, so I've only seen it under lighting. Up until now it looks grey.
Will have to wait till morning to check out what it looks like in natural light.

Xperia Z - JDC vs Sharp - Comparison Gallery

Hey guys,
I wanna show you a quick comparison gallery that I just did with my iPhone 4S since I received two Xperia Z with Sharp and JDC display.
I know the picture quality is not the best but I don't have any other camera at the moment.
I still don't know which display is the best, are very different from each other...What do you think?
All the pictures with the Sony stock images are taken with the luminosity at 50% the others are all at 100%.
Comparison Gallery - Flash
Comparison Gallery - Dropbox
I hope this can be useful to you all.

I agree, also better viewing angles but the white temperature without any calibration is better on the sharp.
Almost forgot, all the pictures are with the Bravia Engine turned off.
This difference may decrease with the correct settings for white balance, no?
Thanks for your work :good:

Thanks Bro !
So Any Confirmation about where the JDC screen Panel inerted/used & In which Region/Country the Sharp panel are Used in Xperia Z/ZL?????
Nice thanks for the comparisons. Looking at these it is clear that the JDC panel is calibrated different, which has a hue shift strong to the red and blue channels.
What also doesn't help here is you are not straight on, and in many cases there is light bleed and reflections onto the Sharp display, not going to help the case.
If I compare these shots on my phone, I would say that my sharp display with BE2 switched off falls somewhere between both of these, with a tendency closer to the JDC display samples with no screen calibration.

There is a way to detect if the display is a JDC or a Sharp?
There is an app somewhere for this?

My thoughts exactly. Although, I have ZL (all so far have sharp panels) but I've compared it to & seen many XZ screens (with sharp & JDC ones).
I think default white balance is better on the sharp ones & there is a bit purplish (red/blue) hue on the jdc ones. That being said, I think not all sharp/jdc displays are same either (at least on the demo units). Out of the two, I prefer sharp on retail units (like the one on my ZL), not the demo ones.

If you want i can rip it and re post in something viewable by mobile somewhere. Like jpgs...Let me know..
From your sample, I feel JDC do slightly more vivid but tend to over warm by default, it was much more yellowish.
As for the full brightness in black, this part showing Sharp much constant and better, no bleeding issue.
Mine is Sharp, I had use ZL white balance to gain better white, less yellowish.

why cant we control the display colors?

why none of the android phones has it
even the cheapest tv has an option the control colors so a 700$ phone doesn't have?!
the screen look like **** on the z and in when i look at the same things with bravia they look great

Xperia Z display shows terrible black clipping with firmwares .253+
Sony tried to show us an illusion of better black levels after .253 update, but black levels are exactly the same as before .253. Terrible black clipping is now showing us an illusion of better black, but all they really did with new screen calibration is that all near black levels are completely black and there is no detail in black scenes. Everything is just black.

looks fine to me as long as your looking at it straight on. the xz doesnt have the best viewing angles as we already know but i think the screen is pretty damn good. there is really only one phone that has a better screen imo and it is the htc one. use a rom that has more of a dark theme if is the white that bothers you

I think the colors are ok, but the screen technology is absolute [email protected]! You can easy see the backlit lighting through the screen edges, and that is in my opinion, the couse for poor viewing angles! The light makes white shade over the screen. Too bad, Xperia Ultra is obviously same technology, as we can see from the reviews! Shame on you Sony! These could been the really outstanding devices!

As far as photos go from this phone, they're very nice, but sadly, the purple hue is still highly visible in both shots (especially in the area of your cats ears)

Sadly, it's one of the biggest problems this camera has. The problem is more evident in scenes with a lot of white objects or backgrounds.
Take the attached image as an example (yep, I brought Starbucks into a bar, lol)
Thankfully this is something that will likely be fixed in a firmware update.
No offense the first pic you posted is absolutely terrible. The colors are muted out and the entire thing is red.
Unless you're telling me you have red paper towels in your house.
as long as we're doing this. I know nothing about photography, i just thought these were decent pics
the third one i only put because somethign about the water and the way it caught the bird in flight so crisp i thought was amazing
This is with a quick auto correct of some colors and look at the difference. And it still looks like it's got a bit of a red tint.

no issues with the tint... I can fix that in 2 clicks. my problem is the "dry brush filter" look. You can't get those pixels back.
Youre all making laugh, I guess a benefit to being color blind is I don't notice the purple hue:sly:

It's a phone that has a camera, I don't expect to shoot National Geographic on this thing, so for me the camera is just fine.
A trick that you can try to prevent some of the redness or out of balance colors (not the purple hue) is to cover the light sensor on the front off the phone with your finger and then find something white to aim at and rebalance the shot before taking the picture. The sensor is to the left of the earpiece. It seems to help a lot when taking pictures in rooms lit by yellower CFLs.

Regarding all of the complaints of the Moto X's camera, are (some or all of) these things fixable by software/firmware updates or is it in the hardware? Anyone know? Details would be nice. Thanks.

I think this is a pretty bad attitude. There are decent cameras in phones that cost just as much or less. There's no reason to make excuses, the camera can be bad, but don't write it off like it's not important or they couldn't include a decent sensor.
