Listed as "coming soon" on Sony US Site - Xperia Z3 General

It looks like Sony may sell it unlocked on their site.
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/phones/

It would be awesome if I could buy Sony direct instead of through a reseller. Another reason not to pre buy from anyone and just wait impatiently for the eventual release.

The US site has stated 'coming soon' since September 4th, hopefully Sony makes good on it this time because if 'soon' doesn't = 'the week of September 22nd' many potential buyers will either import from the UK or purchase something else.
I've already pre-ordered a Z3 compact from Handtec; the cost including shipping was much less than Sony will every sell it for in the US.

Did Handtec say they would be releasing on the 22nd? I thought about maybe calling them tomorrow and asking... But you can save me the long distance call. Very excited about this....

I have not spoken to them directly, but both Clove and Handtec have listed on their sites they are expecting first stock on the 22nd. I'm sure they will have things ready to ship out pre-orders on the day they receive stock.

I was just wondering if handtec will be selling ones with LTE capabilities for the US. Looking at specs there are 4 different phones. Doesn't look like the D6603 is compatible with the US frequencies necessary. For T-Mobile I would need the D6643 or D6616. Would be great for some clarification.

GSMArena had me confused. Read the whitepaper here:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/group-whitepapers/

The D6603 model supports a wide variety of bands. UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20) All this info is on Sony's white paper for the Xperia Z3.

Is this coming to T-Mobile?

Does anyone know if this device is coming to T-Mobile (UK)?
As far as I know, NONE of the UK carriers are publishing any information about this phone. Perhaps because they don't want to lose current sales to people who would otherwise hold out on a purchase of a new phone until this one releases.
Any ideas?
Not sure about t-mobile but vodafone had this as coming soon on their business shop for a while.
http://www.vodafonebusinessshop.co.uk/Details-Phone-Sony-Ericsson-X1-3041.html
According to their representatives release date is October 3rd 2008 but of course as usual, there can be a week or two delay.

Thanks, that's very interesting. I hope T-mobile can offer the X1.
If I have to purchase it outright, I could be tempted to an iPhone instead (as I already have a WinMob phone).

You think so? I would be AMAZED if they sold it, but you never know... I'm not so sure it will release with all of the bands as advertised, there may be a few separate models. 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 UMTS? I'm guessing if it does go to T-Mo there will be 3 models: 900/2100, 850/1900, 1700/2100. But we'll see.

It seems we just have to wait, wait , wait... If nothing will happen in October we will go with the Touch Pro, but would like better the Xperia based on all the UMTS offered. Any news from T-Mo US?
So, from the UK, it'll likely be on Vodafone. Apart from T-Mobile (UK) is there any other carriers that potentially will have it?

Oops
The one that Bluefly lists for AU$700 is the "standard" model which supports only 900 MHz and 2100 MHz for 3G. Telstra uses 850 MHz only. Thus, that model won't get UMTS/HSPA on Telstra. However, as you already noticed, it will do fine with EDGE pretty much anywhere.
You need the Telstra-specific model (the T9193) to get 850 3G support. That model is sold by Telstra and JB HiFi in Australia and some ebay and web merchants.

Learn from my mistake.

I mistakenly bought the Chinese version of the 1+1.
After looking at the bands it supports I realized that it would be no good for T-Mobile in the US.
I admit this was my fault. Still, it's good customer service to allow a customer to return something within a reasonable amount of time.
So, within 24 hours I emailed them:
I would like to cancel this order. My network does not support the wireless bands used by this phone.

Hi,we have shipped your order on 12th June.
The LTE standard covers a range of many different bands, each of which is designated by both a frequency and a band number. In North America, 700, 750, 800, 850, 1900, 1700/2100 (AWS) and 2600 MHz (Rogers Communications, Bell Canada) are used (bands 4, 7, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 41); 2500 MHz in South America; 800, 900, 1800, 2600 MHz in Europe(bands 3, 7, 20);1800 and 2600 MHz in Asia (bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, 13, 40);and 1800 MHz and 2300 MHz in Australiaand New Zealand (bands 3, 40).As a result, phones from one country may not work in other countries. Users will need a multi-band capable phone for roaming internationally.

In the end I had to do a paypal dispute to get my money back. I finally got my money back on 6/21 12 days later. Like I said it was my fault that I didn't read the specs for the Chinese model. But, these guys have really poor service. This experience has soured me on Oppomart, OPO, 1+1 and anyone else affiliated with them.
Here's to hoping I have better luck with the Chinese version I'm getting sent! I use Net10 (Straight Talk/Tracfone) with an AT&T Sim - I've read up on the bands and it appears I'll get 3G/HSPA+, which I'm OK with considering the HSPA+ speeds are better where I live then the AT&T LTE speeds......doesn't make sense at all!
But anyways good info to know for people on T-Mobile!
And good luck getting your hands on an international version, I'm assuming you still want one!
You can't blame oneplus for customer service issues with oppomart. They may not even be affiliated with oneplus.
Oh I read about a hacked radio that allows the same bands as on the international version. Check the forums for a link. I don't have it.

Yea, that is true. They may not have the best customer relations - but they are more than likely not affiliated with OnePlus whatsoever.
And I'm interested in that hack - I assumed since OnePlus said early on that there would only be one model (no variants) other than the memory - that even the Chinese version should have those radios (physically at least) and that they are just disabled due to Chinese whatever.
I've heard other people in the same situation and Oppomart doing the same thing.
So what now, you have to send it back?
oppomart is not affiliated with oppo or oneplus. they are referred to as "scalpers" by the company. the do resell the chinese coloros version of the phone with incompatible bands at a higher price. even mentioning them on the oneplus forums is banned.
Not good ... unfortunate

Will UK Moto X Style work in North America?

I'm planning on getting a preorder in with Clove UK...
Looking at the frequencies and bands listed it looks like it will work in North America on AT&T and in Canada ...can anyone confirm that the US model is EXACT same as UK ?
Pure Edition bands (US version):
Networks
LTE cat. 6 capable
WCDMA
CDMA
EV-DO
GSM/EDGE
Bands
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS),1900, 2100 MHz)
CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
4G LTE (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41)
Style bands (Int. version):
Networks
LTE cat. 6 (up to 300 Mbps)
WCDMA
CDMA
EV-DO
TD-SCDMA
GSM/EDGE
Bands
UMTS GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (800, 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 25, 28, 40, 41)
Strange. The international version says it will work for CDMA. But no CDMA bands are listed. It looks like it will work with AT&T and T-mobile. But its hard to say about software updates. I'd just wait for the U.S. Version. Since it will probably be announced in the next day or so. Since there is just pre orders for the international version with no release day. And it might even release later.
I think I'll pass on Clove..with exchange rate works out $600 CDN !!
Why would you do that.. itll be available with Moto Maker tomorrow?
Because Moto X Style isn't available in Canada and even if I try to preorder with Motorola.com they will not process my order based in fact I don't have a US credit card and US billing addresa

Hong Kong

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to try and help me out! I am possibly going to spend about 4 months in Hong Kong, starting with this upcoming January. I am really having trouble figuring out if this phone can be used there. It seems like it has the bands for most of the 3G networks there, but can anyone possibly help me confirm this? I would also love LTE, but I don't think this phone has the proper LTE bands for Hong Kong. I tried contacting T-Mobile (I currently have Verizon but may get T-Mobile there), and they told me to contact a Hong Kong carrier. I found the number 2 carrier there, and sent them emails and Facebook messages, and have not heard back. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Basically, I just want to know if the MXPE supports 3G and/or LTE bands in Hong Kong. If it does, I won't have to buy a phone to use while I am there. Thanks!
P.S. The Hong Kong carrier I am looking at is Hong Kong China Mobile.
Well here are the bands that the US MXPE supports:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS),1900, 2100 MHz)
CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
4G LTE† (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41)
According to the LTE wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Asia
HKCM uses LTE bands 3, 7, and 40
Looks like bands 3 and 7 are pretty prevalent in HK, so chances are that you'll get LTE (but obviously not 100% guaranteed).
3G wise it looks like they use: UMTS 850, UMTS 900, UMTS 2100 - so you should at least get 3G.

Awesome! It seemed like I was gonna get 3G but I was having trouble making sure that I would get LTE. Mainly because I looked at a Xiaomi Hong Kong phone and it mentioned FDD and I think TDP LTE and I was really confused!
My wife's Nexus 6 got LTE on the local PCCW carrier (now called csl) in Hong Kong earlier this year. So if the Moto X has the same bands for LTE you should be good to go.
As a side note my Nexus 5 did not get LTE but I was still very impressed with the 3G speeds. Wish the US has speeds like that for 3G.

Really appreciate the feedback. I will most likely do either csl or China Mobile Hong Kong, depending on pricing and reception.

Smartone might be worth taking a look at also.
FYI not all prepaid plans have 4G or LTE. csl just started offering it on prepaid within the last year. I don't know what other carriers have LTE on prepaid so you will need to do some research.
I am a local HKer, using CSL and my Moto X Style from the UK can access all the LTE band in HK. We mostly on 1800/2600 Mhz that is Band 3/7. I remember the Pure from the US do support the HK bands. I almost bought the US version to use in HK, but given up because Moto Maker doesn't allow me to proceed without a US credit card.
