I know there is a huge market for budget phones with big screens... but I think this is too big... same for the new Moto X.

5" is the ideal screen size for a smartphone nowadays (apparently)
For most of the people here in india larger screen means a better phone..
Although i run a nexus 5 currently i would still luv a 4.3" screen size as i myself find 5" phone too big to carry

yup, 5" has become all too common nowadays, sweet spot would be 4.3" or 4.5".

Well thanks anyway for a response... I'm giving Galaxy Grand to my mom....
my taste of buying a phone changed to tablet... and bought Nexus 7 2013 (Wifi 32GB) from Flipkart at Rs. 16k

Got one for the wife. Should be delivered sometime today. They came by yesterday but we weren't available so they will drop by today.
Seems like the model in India is the XT1068 and the Indian MOTO site says it has a Digital TV Tuner, but from the looks of it, the XT1069 is the only one having it.
False Advertising?

Got the phone. Any questions?
Its a XT1068.
There is a WHITE LED on top, not a RGB.
Screen is quite crisp and sharp. You could hardly notice any loss of sharpness in comparison to the Moto G 1st Gen.
Speakers are MUCH louder
Build Quality is superb
In the box, I got the Charger (USB CABLE NOT INCLUDED) nor does it detach from the charger and Headphones.

How is the battery (I know, maybe tell us that in 2 or 3 days) ?

I am planning to buy one as well ! Flipkart has removed introductory offers from the site !

It will be the Wife's phone but she is on Whatsapp and FB all day, So I assume if she tells me its Good. Then take her word for it, its good.
Here are some quick images taken before my meeting.

I just hope they don't increase the screen size or dramatically alter the shape of it. If it has an identical body with nothing more than a spec bump I'll be THRILLED. 1080p amoled screen, faster processor, and 64gb storage but keep everything else the same and I will buy one the moment it drops. No need to mess with perfection.

i agree with this exactly honestly i woulsdnt complain if there was a 5 inch screen but kept the same form factor... more stoked about the moto 360 then this though..
apparently it is going to come in a leather option. https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/452952150302527488
Im just waiting to hear if it's going to be the same size or not. If it's revealed that it will be a bigger phone than the X then I'll spend my money on the current X. I'd be happy if the next X kept the same size with just a camera upgrade. We'll see soon I hope.

Holy leather macaroni! I need a black front white leather back with silver accents right now!:victory:
I swear I said it yesterday before it came out that it was gonna have a leather option! I also agree if the screen size grows i pray the form factor doesnt. I mean there is space now to remove that can increase the screen and minimilize bezels
If this new Moto X is enticing enough, I'm actually thinking about selling my Dev edition and upgrading. However, this new X will have to seriously wow me, in terms of looks, specs, and price. Has to be all 3 of those, not just 1 or 2.

one thing that the X "failed" at was competing in the "more is everything" spec war. which is entirely unfortunate given this is easily the best android device i've owned since the original DROID. with that said, i don't want Moto to give in to the spec war. previous articles have mentioned that whatever the X successor will be, it will be a "premium" model.
so far for the X+1, i've seen reports of a 6" screen, which is absolutely and completely a horrible idea. if they shrunk the bezel to "nothing" and kept the form factor, then fine, increase the screen. but the form factor is damn near perfect.
and honestly, i wouldn't care if they kept the most of the same internals, but more RAM, extra storage and wireless charging top my list as things that are a must with the new device. or if they're going to skip wireless charge, a bigger battery.
What to keep:
Active notifications
Touchless control
I don't mind the 720p resolution
Great better life (before 4.4.2)
What to add:
Wireless charging
4.8" to 5" screen but similar form factor.
Bigger battery
Better camera
Better picture/video gallery

AKA Droid Maxx
Camera of course--13 mpix at least, but more importantly, some additional settings options, such as shutter speed. Better color balance too.
Go to 32 gB standard, with possible microSD support. Water/dust proofing also a plus; it's a functional feature that doesn't necessarily give in to the spec wars that the X eschewed in the first place.
Screen size increase? Meh. Right now I can work the phone with one hand/thumb. If it gets bigger, then not so much. If they can do something with bezel size and screen real estate with the current body size, then fine.
Screen resolution? If your eyes can't tell the difference, much greater resolution only draws more battery power. As does going quadcore--remember, Moto's own research supposedly showed that even their quadcore competitors' phones didn't use more than two cores at any time.
If they keep to close the current size, then battery capacity isn't likely to grow much, so retaining efficiency is paramount.
Nor do I care about front facing speakers, ala HTC. I don't listen to much music with phone speakers, and the quality is fine for interacting with the phone's TTV engine.
Finally, I am still a skeptic about wireless charging, if only because of the probability that it can heat the battery excessively, killing overall longevity.
Unlike wood, leather backs are not my thing--what's next, chinchilla?
I think the X+1 is not the 2014 X. Maybe it meants 4.7+1 = 5.7in phablet? maybe they have another name for the X?
If they don't change the name it may or may not just be 2014 moto x like the n7 but I doubt it.... Hopefully its not moto x+1 cause that's the stupidest name I've ever heard of

The leak picture actually sayS +X1. JPNo idea why everyone's stuck to +1
I would be persuaded to upgrade if they added:
Wireless charging
Bigger capacity battery
Better camera
Upgraded specs
Even more waterproofing
I'm hoping they don't change the size or form-factor as it's perfect for me. I don't really care about a leather back as I love the woven back.
Front facing speakers would be ideal; firing your audio away from you on the back of your phone is retarded for watching video.

honestly they are becoming extinct and the desire for them wont make that change manufactures want you to buy up for memory why would they want you to buy the cheapest model and allow you to upgrade the memory outside their pockets?
all i know is if they make the phone larger, i am going to have to look for a different phone or stay with this one till it dies. i have had the One, S4, Nexus 5 and pretty much any high end device in recent years and one of the main reason i love my X is due to its size.

New Moto G!!!

Motorola has announced the new gen of the the Moto G. The Moto G has been upgraded to a 5-inch screen. It also comes with an 8 megapixels camera in the back and 2 megapixels in the front. it will come in both 8GB & 16GB versions with a Micro SD slot. Motorola kept the phone at the same price as the original $179.99. The only bad thing is that there is no LTE version yet.

I agree. Personally 5" is too much big for me. I feel unconfortable with a mobile of that size
Mixed bag. I wish they had increased RAM a little bit more atleast 1.5 GB and beefed up the battery little bit more . I'd have seriously considered it
Indeed, the RAM memory and the battery capacity could be increased. Also, I expected a little bit more powerful CPU (e.g. 1.5Ghz+), although the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 is powerful enough. And last, the first generation Moto G has a 320dpi screen, while the second has a 294dpi.
I'm not sure about the pixel density, but I've read that in a site.

The night is dark and full of terrors
The bigger screen is great! The original Moto G feels small in my hand, so the option of a larger display is great. They could of added an extra gig of RAM though. 1GB is not enough for multi-tasking.
There is not much you can do keeping the price, I think that the upgrade is ok.
Well for same price having some more upgrades aint bad.
I also wished they kept only the Camer upgrade and instead of others put a lil more RAM speed.
That would have been so cool.
But who would have considered the X generation if so ;p
Yep, i also love the new moto g, at the same price you get a bigger screen, better camera, dual front facing speakers, sd card slot and more optimized software with a guaranteed upgrade to android L and many more... when this phone will be in stock in Romania i will buy it asap
The most of the hardware is the same, so is the development easily portable to the new one?
I'm thinking on buy the new one because i was going to buy the 1st gen, but i like the improvements
The biggest problem is going to battery of g2 which is 2070mAh they have upgraded the screen size from 4.5" to 5" and not the battery, in 4.4.4 Android, power backup is a issue but no improvement by Motorola, it will be power hungry, I don't see it is major upgrade which can turn the tables as our motor g does....... Also Not even a single in change in hardware, is there is no change happened in technology in previous two years, its better to wait for g3

To everyone who is put off by the size of the Nexus 6

Get a Moto X 2014.
The Nexus 6 is built by Motorola and its basically just a blown up version of the Moto X 2014.
What's the differences between the 2 phones?
Moto X 2014 -
5.2" Display
Snapdragon 801
2gb Ram
1080p (423ppi)
2300 mAh Battery
5.08 oz (144 g)
Nexus 6 -
6" Display
Snapdragon 805
3gb Ram
1440p (493ppi)
3220 mAh Battery
Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)
6.49 oz (184 g)
Everything else (from what I understand) is the same!
Yes you're not getting the exact same specs shrunk down into the smaller Moto X but it's more in-line with what a lot of people think a "nexus device should be".
Moderate Specs, Moderate pricing and Stock android.
Here's a size comparison if anyone is interested:

The biggest problem with the Motorola Moto X 2014 is the battery size.
If it was 3000 mAh, it would be a worthy alternative.
Specs wise, Snapdragon 805 and 800 and 801 are pretty simmilar ,unless you playe games a lot.

Agreed, there's a larger gap here in Canada between the Nexus 5 at $350 and Moto X at $600 than the X and Nexus 6 which is $750.
I'm unsure of American Moto X prices.
Droid Turbo will be released tomorrow. This should satisfy many of those who want same specs as N6 on a smaller phone.

And only on Verizon. And it will have a locked bootloader.
For you GSM guys though, it went through the FCC not too long ago with GSM bands. Rumor is that it will be released as the "Moto X Play" or "Moto Maxx" , two names that Motorola trademarked this year.
The only glaring difference here is the Nexus is a developer device, and supported directly by Google.
IMO get the Nexus 6, or Nexus 5 if the 6 is too big. The only carrier left out in that case is VZW, but that's not something new.

Not really my point.
It may last longer than the N5, but it still does not counter my argument that its 2300 mAh looks unimpressive. My phone from 2012 had 2150 mAh.
Regarddless of efficient it might be, the screen will consume battery no matter how efficient the system runs, and thats why I think that 2300 mAh is too little.

My limited experience with the X says different. But maybe that limited experience is why. Also, many reviews don't put the battery life any better than on the N5. Some even less. This is personal preference but the screen on the N5 is much much nicer than the amoled panel on the X2014

What are you still doing here? This is a Nexus 6 forum. The Nexus 6 Specs are finalised and there will be no 5 inch, removeable battery, sd card slot, nexus that you were hoping for.
So why is this forum still full of people dying to have their say about how the Nexus is TOO BIG? I'm getting pretty tired of reading the same stuff over and over again. If you don't like the Nexus 6 and have no interest in purchasing one, Please leave this forum for those of us who do.

Perhaps those people are intrigued to see what other peoples opinions are on it?
I have always been a Nexus guy, but this year I've been disappointed by Google with the screen size. Yeah sure, some people want a big 6" screen but for practical everyday use a lot of people want something a bit smaller - between 4.5" and 5".
I took the plunge and have gone over to the dark side and got myself and iPhone 6. I love it, it does everything an average phone user wants.
It has a decent size screen that looks beautiful in all conditions. Plus there are little extra quirks like 1080p at 60FPS and slow motion video at 240FPS. TouchID in a way that nobody else has managed to beat yet.
I think realistically the Nexus 6 and Lollipop both look amazing and I will be doing my normal thing and watching these forums to see what people do with them but I just can't imagine having to use a phone that big daily.
I will happily go on record and say that I'm sure within 1 - 2 months of owning the Nexus 6 some of you will be fed up with how big it is.
Wow. Thanks for letting me know I'll be fed up with my TOO BIG Nexus. Thanks for proving my point.
I am on the fence about it. I think the hardware improvements for the Nexus 6 are worth it's price, they are all the things I want:
-OIS camera with better sensor
-big enough battery for 5hours screen on time (not possible with my Moto X 2014 unless I use it conservatively)
-wireless charging
-stereo speakers
-all US carriers support
I might hold of preordering the Nexus 6 like I thought I would and wait for some of the reviews, but I know eventually I will likely buy one.
I love the Moto X, but I'm not as impressed with the 2014 version as I should be because they lack the aforementioned features. I just switched to the Moto X 2013 for a couple days and I'm really happy with what it offered for the price, I feel like I could live with the 2013 version. If the 2014 X had all the hardwares features of the Nexus 6 and cost $650 as well, it probably would be better for me.
If I buy the Nexus 6, I would use it as a tablet and backup device, it definitely will not be my daily driver. So I wouldn't be fully utilizing it.
So right now there isn't yet a perfect device for me. I want a phone with Motorola features and design with flagship hardwares, but not phablet size. I guess I have to wait to see what the Moto X 2015 will be like. If it's going to be a 5.5" screen I wouldn't be happy about it (unless they manage to have almost no bezel), it would be a begrudging upgrade, in that case I would get a used Nexus 6.

Right off the bat we know the V² has more features to it than the Turbo and about the same amount of power as the Turbo. So I wanted to know what the community thoughts are on the two devices.

What the heck is the V2? Is it coming to verizon?
Edit:
I looked it up and that phone looks like a m8 and a droid turbo reproduced. I like it, but the odds verizon gets it is slim to none.

It was shown at CES 2015. You can buy it online later this year and use a Verizon SIM card because it supports most commonly used bands.

But will it fully function? I didnt get to catch the CES 2015.
There are videos on YouTube. The thing looks badass to say the least. And comes from the OEM with root?! Who does that?!

Seems by the numbers to use a Snapdragon 801 not 805. My guess would be it never comes out or if it does it will be up against all of the soon to be released octa-core phones.

Haha that's why I said about the same amount of power as the Turbo. But it's a small difference. The 801 is only clocked 0.2 GHz lower than the 805 both they are but still quad core high performers none the less.
Wow a phone with root and 320 gb, 13mp front camera. That's my next phone.
Here is pcmags write up on it.

I only have one problem with the V² though is that it's a LCD screen so the blacks aren't going to be as deep as an LED panel but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. It's suppose to sell unlocked for about $650 (Correct me if I'm wrong on the price). The SD 801 I can live with.

650 for an 801 phone when the 820 was announced?

820? You mean 810?
Edit: I stand corrected. It seems there was a leak about the SD 815 and 820 a few days ago.
Hell, when this thing finally gets released the 820 might have been announced. With only a 1080p panel it should more than suffice.
Caveat - Their previous phone was never released because it never made it past FCC regulations. I wouldn't hold your breath on this one. OnePlus had manufacturing to back up the One. These people don't.
The V2 was created for XDA. Optionable root built in, multiboot from sd with a ton of storage. So many roms you can run at once.

Saygus's last phone (that never really worked out) was supposed to be a Verizon exclusive, so maybe. I haven't looked into it.

It wasn't the same type of phone, but it was around the Galaxy Nexus time, which was the last phone like that from Verizon.

So who would change phone carriers for that phone if not on Verizon +1 here.

I'm thinking about buying this phone, but not immediately. In a month or so, I think, when I have money
Plus waiting a month or two makes sense considering there's talk that they'll remove the invite system by then.
Other than that, very excited for this device. Looks absolutely beautiful. Sure, its similar to the Xperia design, but that doesn't make it bad. In fact, I love the design all the more for it.
The SD801 is a fine choice I think. It still performs very well. And I wasn't really expecting the 808 or 805 for this price anyway. NFC isn't essential at all, imho, here in India. Rest of the specs look good too. And the 5' display is plenty big for my small hands.
And the main point to be considered - the development scene. Both the OPO and the OPT have good dev backing, and I'm hoping this device will as well. I'll be keeping an eye on the forums to stay updated about the development, the coming month or so should give a better idea in that respect.
But even so, I'll say I'm pretty locked about this phone, its ticking all the right boxes for me.
Hope I get this baby soon :fingers-crossed:
So I was fixated on buying the Moto X Style until yesterday ... (OnePlus 2 has that frying hot 810, so had to eliminate it).
But then seeing the OnePlus X , I'm almost inclined toward buying this over Moto X Style ...
The major reason being :
1.Manageable size (5 inch is just perfect)
2.Micro Sd card slot
3.AMOLED display
4.Very Very Cheap !!!
The major disadvantage that I see here, over the Moto X Style is that
1. It doesn't have service centers as good as Motorola
2. The compromise that users are forced to make, either choose 2 sims or 1 sim + Sd-card .
3. Lack of storage options (Only 16 gigs).

Right, I'm a little worried about their after sales service as well. Do you happen to know if they have any service centers around NCR?
Other than that, I personally use just one sim, so I don't mind that much. And 16gb storage is ok too, since I can just use a micro-sd card along with the one sim I have. But I agree, that is kind of a workaround and I can see 16gb being very less for people much more media-centric than me. They should have provided more storage options.

It's not about being media centric any more .... The thing is now the google apps have become much bigger and are producing large amount of Cache data for analytics and making our user experience faster .
Even on lollipop on my moto g (AOSP based rom), the cache data generated in one month was around 1 GB with bare minimal apps.
Plus the Moto X Pure is getting just 8 GB usable memory in 16 gigs version !!! 8 gigs is too less according to me,even if you want to use atleast 40% features/apps of a smart phone (email, photo's and stuff) .
But Marshmallow is introducing new Memory feature, which enable users to club the internal memory and the Sd-Card , but then the speed of Sd-Card can never match the speed of internal memory,so there will be a slight delay in opening apps ....
Storage is always a subjective feature, but then again it's good to be a bit future proof than living on edge ... That being said I don't think there will be any major disadvantage ... thanks to new Marshmallow Memory management option !
hell yeah!!!i am getting this device!finally a 5" phone!i will cry now...but are you sure only 16gb internal model?:/
EDITh,only 16 gig version :/..okay,btw that glass at the back is also a gorilla glass?or just a simple glass?
one plus x vs xiomi mi4
hi!
can anyone suggest which one is a better buy, one plus x or mi4? considering after sales services of both and the fact that mi4 is going to be sold at a reduced price on 3-5 nov. (both of them are way similar in specs except amoled display and sd card support in the X).
thanx in advance!

mi4 is an incredible device but the problem is the software..it is still running on 4.4 and that too is buggy(miui has lots of bugs) and i have no idea and nor i think, you will ever get a STABLE marshmallow(though there is official cm12.1 right now).

considering the kernel source of mi4 has been released there's been an incredible developers team supporting it! even my galaxy grand duos has a marshmallow build(with some bugs, only single sim working), so there is a very high probability tht mi4 WILL get marshmallow and i'm planning to install cm12.1 on day 1.
my main concern is the after sales services, or lack thereof, of one plus!

please give us some review after you use the device.?
Apparently some users are reporting SD card read issue.
Does OnePlus X have LTE on both sims? Not that I'm going to use two, I'll need the slot for SD card. Just wondering.

Pretty darn solid device. Never heats up. There was a software update right out of the box. Camera is better than expected. Will try some outdoor photos in daylight tomorrow. The cover/case provided is not cheap.. but soft.. and should provide ample protection. Speaker sound is good. Overall, a brilliant phone.

I believe LTE is not the sim card "slot" dependent, but on the phone's hardware. As they've been advertising it as an LTE phone, it should support it on both SIMs.
