[SOLVED] "Unable to connect to camera" or crash after CM installer from 4.4.2 stock - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[SOLVED] "Unable to connect to camera" or crash after CM installer from 4.4.2 stock
Hello!
After installing CM on my uncle's S4 international LTE through CM installer, all camera apps crashes, saying sometime "Unable to connect to camera". How can I fix this? Actually the phone is with her, and I cannot see it for a while. I tried to restart and or clear cache data, but it didn't worked. Any other known fix? Getting back to stock would just be a shame!
SUMMARY: I've tried CM Installer, CM11M3 and CM11M9, and in none of them Google Camera works, even with the this app that elzangi adviced me. BUT i've tried this app and it does not works :|
SOLUTION: Reflash stock, reflash all the things. F**k you Samsung

Do a wipe data/factory reset from the recovery.

Tried with latest CM stable from Installer, but nothing It does not even open. Now i've flashed the M3, but still the camera isn't working. Now i will try the app you linked me on this M3... Let's see
EDIT: does not work even on M3... HALP PLS!
EDIT: now i'm going for the M9, i don't think it will change something, but at least i'll have the latest CM
EDIT: It seems that only google and AOSP cameras crashes... the 3rd party apps works... that's really odd

Shall I tell you what makes your phone really lagg free? Install the latest firmware from samsung, root it, flash the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741181 kernel. and than install SD Maid. Go to applications and begin to remove samsung stuff. Like widgets who are running in background but you never use it, or chaton, all Knox things, WatchOn, Daemon weather and so on! my phone is fast as it never was without root

That's true, but at this point why don't just change rom (cyanogenmod installer was 1 click!)? By the way, it's a good point, i'll just try to find a fix to this problem, if i won't find one, i'll do what you suggested!

1. It's because I like some Samsung things like multi window etc.
2. I like the surface of Touchwiz
3. The camera is way better in Touchwiz than in CM.
If you don't find a fix, I think this would be the best you can do, if you don't hate touchwiz to hard
Please click thanks if I help you:fingers-crossed:

If it's so bad, try if it really works on stock firmware, if not.. really don't know, if yes try it again with CM but not with the installer, but with flashing the M9 file in the recovery. So I think you have to do something xD

Of course you can. I installed the latest samsung firmware (NG8) and than rooted it. After that I installed SD Maid Pro, gave him root access and than remove a lot of stuff which runs in the background (but attention, just things from samsung and google you don't need, otherwise some things wont work anymore..)

How many threads do we need on this, really?
Why do we need a video to install an ipk... If you can't figure it out on your own I think maybe installing this isn't the best idea.

The purpose of the video is not JUST to show how to install, but to give people the confidence to try it out. Knowing that someone else has done it with no side effects, and how to easily remove it. It also demonstrates the actual build itself, showing everyone how it works and whether it is worth it to install.
If you don't like the video, don't watch it.

If you are keeping this thread up, you may want to mention that if you install this, you will not be able to install a custom kernel in webOS until you doctor your device. This installs its own and doesn't come out cleanly.

Yep... I just did it, then uninstalled, reinstalled stock and overclock kernals and no go. Stays at the stock speed. I haven't decided whether to stick with Chroid and play with it or doctor.
Update: I was able to get Uberkernal and 1.5Ghz back. However, what I did was go into WebOS >> Software Tab >> Software Manager. Uninstalled Chroid. Installed stock palm kernal (restart) and install Uberkernal. Govnah sees it now.
Worked for me at least.. hope it helps!

you don't have to doctor...
you just have to install the stock kernel back and then install the oc kernel.
that is all.
no doctor needed.
You can also install with webOS Quick Install from your computer connected to USB..

It shouldn't have been necessary... did you fully uninstall Chroid through the WebOS software manager? I did it again and without reinstalling UberKernal it just showed up in Govnah after uninstalling Chroid. (Original Release, not the 10/08 one.. haven't tried that one yet).

Anyway my TouchPad is running much better as its not half broken with the tweaks and stuff I tried doing myself
not trying to troll, but im wondering, if many of us are having issues with OC kernals for webOS (myself included), and the android kernal, will dual booting android/webOS be a bit of a pain to jump back and forth between? or this specifically towards just chompers android/webOS?

[Q] CM 11 - Performance tab question/help

Hello xda.
I installed Cyanogenmod on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 today with no problems at all, however I've found something that seems a bit weird. (I know there is supposed to be bugs in nightlies, of course, but I thought i'd ask anyway.)
In the performance settings of the tab, it keeps the minimum CPU frequency to 1190mhz. If I put it to 300mhz, it will work, but as soon as I exit out of the performance tab, it goes back to 1190mhz. I figured that my phone was quite hot when I didn't use it, and that's how I found out.
Have anyone seen this on the latest CM11 nightly for the Note 3? I hope somebody out there know how I can fix it.
Many thanks.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I've heard a little about kernels. The thing is, that this is the first time I've ever put a custom rom on an android device, so I'm not really 100% familiar with all this yet, however if the custom kernel won't be able to brick my phone, I sure would give that a try.
Should I go with the "stable" version or the beta version of the kernel?

I do have TWRP on my device, so I can use that, I am not very sure on how to do that though?

Hyperdrive Rom for P-900...Works On Our T-900!

I flashed this yesterday, all seems fine so far. There is a known issue with system.ui force close, and is being investigated by dev. It happened to me a couple times after install, and hasn't happened again since. Seems very stable now that the rom has settled. The touch sensitivity in the aroma installer is a little stubborn, so be patient when selecting your options. Oh yeah, I have never seen so many options crammed in a rom in my life! Very entertaining. I love it! And as with all P-900 roms on our T-900, no rotation. (No big deal) here is the link to the op.

Oh, you just install it like your tab pro 12.2 T-900 was a note pro p-900, and thats it! You will lose screen rotation, but I never miss it. Just disable auto rotation after installation. There are play store apps that control rotation manually, on a per-app basis that work perfectly.
I choose the stock kernel, in the aroma installer, but if you like to over clock your devices I suggest bonuzzz kernel. I've used it and it is very stable with more governor options, and OC to 2.1Ghz(i think) I have never OC'ed this device tho. This rom has the best balance of performance and battery life, and has endless customization options. I really don't know why it hasn't caught on with T-900 users. I love it.

No... I did try flashing the boot.img from our latest stock release, (with flashify) but still no rotation. It seems to get better battery life with our stock kernel, but it may be in my head. (Placebo effect) I disable anything to do with s-pen in settings, just in case, but I'm not sure its necessary. It really does run beautifully. Great battery life, and no lag like on stock rom.

no, well, I think there is a way to do it with odin, but, the easiest way is to install flashify to your device, open it and confirm root access when super user asks for it, then you can use flashify to install the boot.img right from your device. .... Now I can not provide support if the device explodes or any of those other things that could happen, but I personally have not had any problems with flashify. After it gets done it asks if you want to reboot, and just say yes and then you should be on our stock kernel. It worked for me 2 times, because I wanted to try the new CM12 that had theme support, Then themes didn't work on CM12 anyway, so I came back to hyperdrive, and flashed the stock kernel again. Oh and it reboots faster with the stock kernel too.
that screen rotation. .
Being broken is a deal breaker for me personally. Such a shame because that ROM looks fabulous

Just flash it in twrp
Sure...out and about in an ice storm right now, when I get back home I will and let you know?
Seems to work...no force closes or anything, so that's definitely good. How much is supposed to be themed?

eXistenZ v10 port for locked bootloader, plus mods

Port is not my work. It's by @kavatzas7, originally posted here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69580000&postcount=214. That one only works on unlocked bootloader, so I swapped the boot img with stock Sony one, for use on locked. I also made many framework and system app mods, (shown in screensshot), including menus, toast, backgrounds and scrolling navbar, by @Ticklefish. If you want the rom and don't like my mods, just download both and replace boot img.
Notes...
- Flashing rom with stock boot img will remove your recovery, so you'll have to reflash recovery.
- Attempting to flash kavatsaz7's rom with locked bootloader will result in black screen, with no boot, even to recovery. You'll have to use Flashtool to get kernel/rom back on your phone.

Updated with some fixes. Not so messy looking anymore. Update does not include scrolling navigation bar. Let me know if you want it, and can't do it.
Few more...

I didn't change anything in the build, but I worked out most of the visual bugs with 3rd-party apps, like black-on-black menus, etc. You can use Holo Themer per app if you need to. For fm radio, use a different app from Play Store. I tested out RadioFM, and it works fine.
Can i instal this port for so-02f docomo with locked bootloader??

Sorry, I don't know much about that phone. From what I remember in other threads, it is the same, but I can't say for sure...

Radio Fm - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...app&pcampaignid=APPU_1_M6ZjWIibG4bXmAGN05PIBQ
Ah, ok...because i thought that you talking about a real "fm radio" app based on fm mobile antenna resever, not in an internet radio app...
I just installed the ROM and it already restarts a few times, the phone currently is installing all the apps from Google Play Store..
edit:
It happens randomly or if I open/select certain settings that provided..
BTW can I change the transparent notification off?
@levone1 : Flashed your modded ROM but it's getting restarted repeatedly between bootanimations...

OK, I'll check it out. I've been messing with Dstrikers rom for a while now, so can't remember issues exactly. First question always did you do a full wipe, (data, system, and caches)?
I'll try to flash today and see...

It's been posted about this port that you will get reboots at first, but they will stop. I didn't port it, so can't help with technical stuff.
For notifications you can try LPThemer from Xposed, or replace your system ui with stock one, (you will also lose other systemui mods) or decompile systemui apk, and search xml files for color b32c3539, and change it to ff2c3539.
BTW, if anyone wants to try, I made a similar mod with some improvements for latest Dstrikersz1 build.

Ah, I see.. But it will start restart by itself if you click certain settings.
Thanks for answering. I found another problems tho, the internet speed seems so slow, it takes minutes to download small files from Play Store, even restoring things from WhatsApp took ages. And it seems killed app in the background because, once I open a messenger, it will flood by notifications.

It's a port, so not surprising to find bugs. The best part about eXistenZ is probably the customization, which is all there. Overall, it's a solid ROM, and the bugs are, for the most part, in the realm of extras, (although slow Internet is more of a real problem, but I haven't experienced that). If you want more of stability and less of extras, go for dstrikersZ1 ROM.
BTW - I never did quite finish modding this one, it's kind of messy looking. I got sidetracked with dstriker... I'll probably revamp this one and re-post.

So it is just me who have the problem with internet, is it because "doze" mode or something because I find that my phone will go to its deep sleep often, it does save battery but I don't quite like it, I keep missing phone calls or texts from people. Guess I will go back to DstrikersZ.
