Xposed works - Shield Tablet General

In case anyone was curious to take the plunge, Xposed framework and gravity box (kk) have been working great for me for days now. No issues. (Must have root of course)
:good:

Yeah works great.
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk

Confirmed working for me. Exactly what I was looking for, thanks for the tip!

New to Xposed, what modules would you suggest?

Good to know, thank you.

Try gravity box (KK)... A great collection, and comprehensive updates.

Halo?

I've been looking through the custom ROMs that are available for the N3 and have yet to find one that has HALO listed. And I've tried to find something with Xposed that duplicates it's functionality but that's been a bust a well. Does anyone know of a custom ROM for the N3 that has HALO incorporated into it? I don't care whether it's 4.2, 4.3 or 4.4. Just looking for HALO - got used to it on my S3 and find I can't live without it now.
Well... I can live but it's just darn inconvenient...

Isn't there a play store app for halo? I'm not sure but I think there is.
Isn't that what nitros rom is?
Sent from my VZW Galaxy Note 3
It's not built into nitro's rom. You might be able to get it with gravity box or another xposed mod... I don't use halo, so I can't say for sure.

Gravity Box doesn't play right with TW, as far as I saw (and it says in the description that it's for AOSP ROMs). I installed and started immediately crashing my system. I also saw an Xposed mod that supposedly duplicates the functionality of the PA HALO implementation but I couldn't make it work. Looked instead to be some sort of multi-window app.
Frustrating...
Thanks for all the replies thus far. I'm new to the N3, loving it but sort of surprised @ the scarcity of custom ROMs. The S3, even now, is a very active development platform and it's more than two years old.

Gravity box works perfectly with nitro's rom. It's the only one that plays nice with the framework mods.

I'll have to give that a try then. I have it downloaded and ready to go - just need to take the time to flash it & get it up & running. Thanks for the advice!

Even though gravity box is for AOSP, some of the features do work for TW and I've found it to be more reliable than wanam for certain things. Also, if you use the nav bar, gravity box is great for enabling/customizing it as well.

I tried the nav bar - that's what I enabled gravity box for and ended up with some sort of error that made the phone unusable. I was lucky to be able to stop gravity box and phone returned to OK. I ended up using ultimate dynamic nav bar and it's got the options I wanted. I was also hoping for a nav ring on the lock screen but I can't find anything that has that on a TW ROM.
Once I feel a little more comfortable with SafeStrap, I'll likely throw the stock ROM into a different slot and install Eclipse into the stock slot. When I did Hyperdrive into Slot 1, I panicked at the memory drop. I have too much media to take a hit like that...

Oh yeah. The navbar will only work on ROMs with the necessarily modified SystemUI. What ROM were you using when gravity box sent your phone into a frenzy?
Also, Eclipse had the nav ring when the phone is unlocked, not sure about when it's locked.

Oh yea don't enable nav bar on stock... That will screw ya up proper; I learned the hard way. It works perfectly on Eclipse, though... I run nav bar on all my roms.

I'm running stock, rooted with all of Samsung's and Verizon's crapware uninstalled by TiBU and Xposed activated running just the Ultimate Dynamic nav bar mod. Like I said though, likely going to install Eclipse (or maybe Beans) in the Stock slot and see what happens. Anyone got a preference on either of those?

I sure miss.....

Ad away
What do you miss?
Xposed... Custom recovery... Freedom... Adaway for sure... Roms... All kinds of stuff I can't think of lol.
Debbie, Pam , Michelle ....the list is long
My hair... being able to see my feet... oh, and definitely Adaway. :crying:
I never rooted my s5 so I'm actually ok.
Adaway, bbs, greenify

This!
Really though, I just miss Root in general. Can't block ads, can't freeze apps, automaiteit/tasker is crippled, on and on. It's as if everything that made Android good or customizable is now disabled. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Nexus 6 compares with the Note 4, because if I'm so locked down, I might as well use an iPhone.
It's like having a 600 horsepower engine with a speed limiter on it.
Root explorer!
xposed
adaway
viper
I just want to hold volume down at lock for quick flashlight ffs!
I miss a couple things, the SD card fix is one but the number one is be able to uninstall the current version of Google Maps and replace it with an older version, specifically version 6, which is immensely better IMO than their current version.
Adaway, hands down

Adaway. G3 tweak box, xp0sed, 4x5 and 5x5 touchwiz.
ad away xposed titty-backup sd-card write. long list
I picked up my s4 the other day, seemed like phone had shrank
but does missing root out weigh the Note4....All I can say is I love my Note
dam sure can't wait to have root.

[Q] Hold back to kill for Lollipop

As Xposed doesn't work for Lollipop, would like to know if there is any way to get this feature in Lollipop? It's a feature in Xposed Kitkat I sorely missed. Thanks.
Anyone?
I gave only seen that option I'm xposed and custom ROMS, so I'm afraid you're out of luck if both those options are not available.
The next release of N5X-ROM will have that feature, just hold on for few hours, it's going to be released
Awesome. But I'll much prefer if I could simply use CWM or something to add the mod. Prefers stock nowadays due to potential bugs in custom roms. Xposed was initially my savior, but since Xposed is now incompatible, I was pretty much stuck.
If someone could come up with a small mod for long press to kill feature, that'll be really great. :fingers-crossed:
You should leave that Linus blanket behind and check out latest rastapop. It's a no-frills kind of awesome
Like I said I hope that there's no need for custom roms. I just want a no hassle solution.
EDIT: Does Rastapop have the "back to kill" function? I am desperate enough already. -_-
Yes

Root and GearVR

In all my searching I have never found anything positive about using the Gear VR with Root.
Some people have gotten lucky and have it work. Mostly using the stock modified Kernel but I can't be sure that this will work with my Model. G928F as it states that it is designed for other models.
Is anyone happily using their european Gear VR with root? If so what is your setup?
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm from the Netherlands, i also have the G928F.
With the modified kernel it works great!
So yes. i'm verry happy with the Gear VR.
Using Audax Rom with the Stock modified kernel.
t-mobile stock modified works fine.
Thank you everyone. I am sure you can understand my hesitation. with it being labelled T-Mobile. If anyone else has had good experiences with this or other kernels/ROMs please let us know. The more feedback the better.

hi. same for me here. i had same issues.
i found that for me Stock modiefied Kernel and Orgia rom works best. i have G928F. and everything works just fine, no worries about the kernel. it will work.
i also heard and read that skyhigh kernel is reported working. but it was not for me.
i know that you should stay as much stock as possible with rom an kernel from what i read.

REQUEST: Marshmallow ROM for Pixel XL

Sorry, didnt know what thread to post in.
Can someone compile a Marshmallow ROM for Pixel XL? Just so that we can run our beloved Xposed module, please? I can even donate few $ if that's the motivation.

Highly doubt it would be possible unless someone puts in tremendous hours of work into this since the pixel came with nougat.
I just don't see some Dev putting hours into this just for xposed and for an obsolete version of Android.

What do you need Xposed for so badly..?
Xposed isn't really needed for much anymore. I mean most stuff u can do on xposed you can do with root, or root app, or an app, or flashable zip. And MM not gonna happen like he said, wishful thinking, lol. We need an Android O ROM though ? once TWRP works on O.

Generally speaking, such requests belong in the Q&A forum.
That stated, I can't imagine having the nerve to ask a question that starts with the words "can someone compile a ROM..."
In a word, this request should have never been made.
As others have mentioned, it's not likely someone can build a ROM based on an operating system that has never been available with this device.

Wait, on the Pixel and Pixel XL devices? We had Marshmallow?
Yeah, there are SEVERAL xposed modules I miss very much.
They gave me options that you cannot find in any Nougat custom ROM.
I'd LOVE to see MarshMallow on Pixel but that's not going to happen.
NotifyClean and EnhancedToast are two that I miss the most, just off the top of my head.
But I had like 15-20 modules on MarshMallow and some are no longer needed but some I really miss.
I'd pay a lot of money just for NotifyClean alone. Nougat has a similar option built-in but it sucks badly in comparison to what NotifyClean can do.
I also liked the one for PlayStore that made PlayStore open directly to "my apps" instead of the main page.
App Settings, Expand Volume, Native Clipboard, CrappaLinks, APM+.
Then there were MANY modules that did clone of what custom ROM's offer. But by simply re-enabling the saved modules after clean flashing a new ROM, you saved a TON of time by not having to set each item individually in ROM settings. Like App Ops Exposed, GravityBox, Lock Screen Mods, etc.
I'd pay big money for App Settings also. Though it hasn't worked properly since Lollipop.

I mean, I love xposed, and totally see where you're coming from, but calling others idiots isn't necessary..
I understand, its frustrating when you say "I like this feature, does anyone know how to port it?" But others respond with "I never needed it, therefore you shouldn't need it."
I liked xposed because I could get all my favorite lineage/cm features on any ROM I waa on.. I haven't seen a screen off, long press volume button seek tracks app to work on nougat. Macrodroid has gotten close, but not completely there.
Believe me, I kept my oneplus 3 on marshmallow for months after nougat rolled out because xposed. And here you are nearly a year out. But I think what might be a good option as well is to make a list of modules you use, post them, and see what apps others recommend.
Figure if the need was bad enough one would figure out how to port it themselves ?
