Anyway, its cheap (~250$) and seems a tad better than my current GS3, just dk If i'll be able to use it in Israel if I ever get my hands on one of those. Im dying to upgrade but everything seems to suck, except maybe honor 6 in terms of specs vs price vs not being ugly (including small bezels) vs availability.
I kinda want to get the crystal just to go full hipster about it @ work/friends

SIM card? Unlocked? etc...
Hello everybody...
I am a big fun of Sharp cell phones... I am %00 sure about this... Sharp is the BEST... Forget the rest...
Anyway )) Is there anybody who knows if this phone has SIM card... And possible to find unlocked device etc...
Thanks a LOT!

Chances are that the Softbank version will have one since it is a GSM/WCDMA carrier. The only problem would be getting it unlocked.
Things are a bit murkier for the Sprint version. Sprint is a CDMA carrier and I don't believe many of their phones have GSM/WCDMA sim card slots. Or at least accessible SIM card slots.

My hopes are lying on the Crystal X coming. I would definitely opt back to Sprint for it.

I would buy this if its possible to use in the UK on the GSM networks, I dont even care about the 4G bands too much, so 3G seems to work great in my city without being too slow.
So lets all hope when its out, we can root and unlock the phone to use on other network's. (If supported base bands)
Not seen any development for Sharp phones, so not sure on their policies with bootloaders and security.

I've read the front covering for the display is only plastic. I wonder how easily that will scratch as opposed to something like gorilla glass.

I think that smartphone make by japan is wonderfull to use foe everry one . I like Aquos sharp

It seems like it has a removable back. Is it really? I searched for videos removing it but haven't found any. And if it is removable does it allow you to put any Sim or battery you want? Because those two are the only deal breakers for me. If it does allow for a plethora of batteries then the first I would do is buy one with extended capacity (2000 mah doesn't cut it), or at least a second battery as a backup. And, if it does allow you to swap Sim cards, maybe devs here would figure a way to allow for full gsm support as they did with other sprint phones.
If anyone will bring any more info on those two issues (no matter in what language may the info or video is posted) it would be really helpful.

I also have questions about that but didn't find a video. Might be because its either new and still not released, also I have questions about if it will work on UK 3g.
I love the design and have been jealous about the other sharp phones with minimal bezel that have been in japan for a long time.
I would really like to buy/import this phone but only if 3g will work on my carrier.

I've found this image but the Sim card slot is more than likely for 4G LTE on Sprint/Virgin/Boost
Hope we get a release date soon as I really want this phone on Virgin.

I read somewhere that the first one will be a 5" screen, the specs are kind of weak............but supposedly in December there will be a 5.5" screen version with better specs (ram, etc.).

i just bought this phone the other day and have really, really like it. i was wondering if any is rooting it so we have a little more control over what goes on it and what it can do. it's definitely high style and that's a plus!

I'm really hoping this phone gets root as well. It's amazing device but root access is definitely important to me for Foldermount and Wi-Fi Tether. Giving it's quality design and very affordable price, I'd say it's going to be a good seller for Boost and Virgin mobile. It looks better than the $600 S5 it's $149..

and that's what's so sad. a phone costing much more looks like an old LG. I think the Galaxy Alpha is supposed to change that but whatev. I really like this phone and it grows on me daily. no compliments an iPhone because EVERYONE (mainly older people that I've seen) has one and they all look the same. and the Galaxy S series never caught anyone's eye ever so there was nothing there with that. I never wanted my phone to say "look at me" but this one is so pretty and it seems everyone else thinks so as well if I judge by how many time people grab my hand in a store! it's a great design either way and worth every penny! and I think the performance is wonderful too!

People who had bought the japan version (305SH) like me without documentation, you can download the english doc version of 306SH :

It looks like a giant candybar! I have nothing against the Evo 4G nor the HD2 which I previously owned (I took it back! Found the recipt DJ!) but the enormous screens aren't for me. They just feel like their gonna snap with their extreme thiness, not to mention the battery life was bad on my hd2 due to a 1230 mah. But, the Evo and HD2 are fine, this thing is rediculous. It's longer than the rest and what's up with the mirrored finish around the screen? If you wanna make a 4.4 inch look bigger on a phone your insane!
Much too big for my daily use. Plus we need detailed specs & benchmarks for evaluating it

Look it up bro. It's all over the net. It's currently the fastest phone as of right now (I THINK***)
And I'd get it. And of course a great phone MUST come with Android. Anything else would be crap.
The Samsung Galaxy S 1900 hummingbird chip or whatever is supposedly way faster than the snapdragon... I honestly have never heard of this phone before today lol.... I'm just not really a fan of motorolas.

Yea, no decently spec'd Android phone in a while that's GSM. I mean the Galaxy s thingamajig (I don't know what it's called) is the most advanced gsm we have right now, but unfortunately no HTC's since the desire! Where are you GSM devices with really good hardware and awesomeness eminating from you!
EDIT: ATT is getting a major advanced (im being sarcastic) Android HTC phone called the Aria!!!! Yay 2.8 inch screen with a 600 mhz processor!

No keyboard = not for me
I will not buy anything without a hard keyboard and will never believe that a phone without a keyboard could be better than a phone that has one.
Me and my, "homeboys" are porting the Samsung Galaxy S Pro to the G1!
Sometimes I like to express emotions with a pic borrowed from the internet.
Regarding the Droid X:
I don't think the EVO is too big, but it's pushing it. This thing is even bigger and the backwards chin would irritate the buhjezus out of me. That thing looks more like a multimedia device that includes a phone.
Of course I'm biased after several years of good service but I'm extremely pleased with Sprin't lineup lately. Not much to choose from but what they have is up there with the best of em, at least compared to what's available in the US

My guess is that the only reason they offer ANY android phones is because apple lets them in order to disguise their plans for world domination, and if they can get a few android people on board then they are at least a little closer to the iPhone and may one day opt for an iPhone when upgrade time rolls around.
AT&T offering android is like a consolation prize... it's more symbolic than anything.
will it have a front facing camera ?
I personally enjoy oversized screens, so I think the Droid X will be my next phone. I have a question, though -- will the phone have a decent modding community around it in the way that the EVO does? I realize that it's a difficult question to answer right now, but I'm very excited about getting a new phone (and rooting it).

No front-facing camera.
Also, let me take the opportunity to talk about video calling. If you use a cell phone in public and you don't care that other people are extremely annoyed at hearing you talk on your phone, get ready for my fist. Just regular calls around me annoy me, video calls are going to enrage me. Try not to be a douche and take your calls in private, please.

HAHAHA, too funny. I would really hope that people have enough sense to use vidoe calling when and where it's intended (ie. at home, in the office. NOT on the subway, in a restaurant, etc..)
Alas I am sure there will be plenty of people that just can't stand for other people to see them on a regular old voice call when they could be seeing them on a video call on their awesome new phone.
Please, please, please if you end up feeding someone a knuckle sandwich for being on a video call in public have a friend catch it on video for our viewing pleasure

Photos of AT&T Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard including benchmarks??

BGR has a new post that has photos of what they believe to be the AT&T version of Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard. It also includes a couple of benchmarks; Linkpack and Quadrant. I can't believe that AT&T would do this... looks like I'm not getting the AT&T version...
http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/26/exclusive-images-of-atts-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-revealed/
oh my GOD thats ugly!! good thing i live in the UK, no carriers changing my device
Looks really ugly, it will just add to phone's thickness.. and even the camera looks weird in those photos!
Electricpig notes that the Linpack benchmark is about 18.6% higher than an unlocked Galaxy S II (58.544 MFLOPS vs 47.606 MFLOPS)... leading them to suspect that they bumped the CPU from 1.2 to 1.4. However, Quadrant doesn't seem to show much improvement (3056) but then again, Quadrant isn't the most consistent benchmark.

is it just me or does the phone seem smaller than a international gs2 across the front of the screen? did they drop it down to 4"?
If Sprint also drastically changes the design then they have lost my purchase.

Corporate users love keyboards. They are also a prime target for LTE. Going this route kind of makes sense if this is their first LTE phone launched. I'm glad I got the unbasterdized version. Remember, the Z/R got FCC approval on AT&T's bands too. Maybe they'll carry that one also as their more consumer oriented version.
i'm not convinced this is att's official (or only) sgs2. the layout is completely different: camera placement, bottom physical button for instance.

Does this...
Or this...
Look like this...
SGH-i897 is the model number for AT&T's SGS1 so the model number for whatever phone's in the first post uses the same naming convention. Last round, Sprint got the keyboard. This time it looks like it'll go to AT&T.
damn, you're right. our only hope is this is not AT&T's version.
My biggest concern is that AT&T will screw with it so much that we'll need special developers for it. I think I would lose my mind if I went to flash a super duper kernel and it blew up in my hands.
Thank goodness I got the unmolested version of this device. Leave it to US carriers to take something amazing then ruin it.

Even if they left the majority of the phone as-is, you'll never be able to flash international ROMs due to the different radio(s). I'm sure devs working on it will be able to re-use a lot of what's already been developed but the phone will be too different to share s/w with other versions.
I just got really dissapointed really quickly. Im fine with having four buttons but the slide out keyboard is almost the point of being useless

that is entirely untrue...
The captivate for ATT can use international sgs 1 roms with a kernal that rotates the screen correctly the only difference is that the FM radio didn't work on the captivate as there was no FM radio.
ATT world phones use the same international frequencies as international phones. i currently have an internationall sgs2 and am using it with att with 4g.
keyboard not for me.... Good that I got the international sgs2
Also the Samsung galaxy R kinda looks nice and solid, even though lower specs and slightly thicker.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Its like they didn't want to release a phone thinner than the iPhone and maybe this even dissolves them of being liable and possibly being sued for selling it as-is. I'm not trying to be a fandroid or anything but I can't help think the ongoing legal battles between samsung and Apple somehow effected the outcome ... disenchanted ... but still optimistic ... would be nice to get new dimensions and weight of this bastardizes phone.

Big plus is that it's alegedly equipped to access Att LTE.
This data connection really has me teetering on selling it.

It sounds completely crazy to me. Why they have to sell another device that will lack of support by Samsung and by the community? This phone will meet the same doom as i9001 and i9003. it's really madness to produce dozens of variants and then give **** support to each of them.
And people are still waiting for ICS on i9000. Bah.
Although I agree most people do not care about the community or Samsung support. They will buy the phone with a contract that suits them and happily use it till they buy the next phone (upgrade etc).
A lot of people don't use anywhere near all the features of the phones they buy, and the smarter the phones the more features are unused.
They just want the latest phones...
They will change "up" as soon as they are allowed, so to them long term support of continued development are not important.
And this is being encouraged by ALL the manufacturers, not just Samsung.
let's face it, if any manufacturer actually produced a phone that did everything that was needed and properly, they couldn't bring out a new phone 3 months down the line, and the product line would be reduced from 10 or more down a couple per maker.
Not good financial sense.
P.S. I have had my Galaxy S for a year and a half and I'm generally pleased with it, I have it doing what I want and pretty well too. I don't NEED ICS, buy if and when it comes I'll try it.
There are no cameras on phones that I consider good enough for anything other than snapshots, so i have a good quality camera for pictures and a very competent phone for phone related tasks.
Rant over

Exactly my thoughts. The only reason people complain for ICS on i9000 though is because that's the phone they sold the most, is ICS capable and they never actually delivered a bug-free ginger version (there're still some major ones that never got fixed). Their excuse about touchwiz+ICS being too much for the i9000 is also BS, i'm sure. Not caring about the customer and providing **** support is the problem.
They probably had leftover parts they decided to capitalize by making this phone. Whether this will be a hit or not will depend on it's price. If they make it attractive enough, people with cheap phones looking for an upgrade without spending much may like it. Totally unworth it for someone owning an i9000 already though, even less with GB being the default system.
To all guys complaining : OOOO, bad, bag Samsung, they are releasing the new model with old system without chances for its official update, baaad, baaad, baaad Samsung, you should be punished, and all workers and managers burned in a big bonfire!!!
Could you, boys and girls, tell me: who the hell forces you to buy it?
What is the reason of your nightly wetting, shouting and cries?
I never seen peoples like you, in example standing in front of TV shop and shouting: I don't want this TV bcs the wall plug is ugly black, while I wanted it to be pink with golden dots... yet, maybe bcs I did not met you in the real world

One small question: so, you suppose that any manufacturer should ask someone from the community (I presume: preferably you) the question if somebody will support it?

The Galaxy S was already a beast when it got out, it was on top as far as performance and technologie goes, how do you compare it to something that is launched 2 years later...
Sure, I'd like the current phone to have the technologies that will be available in 2 years but right now! And, in 2 years, I'd want my 2 years old phone to be as powerfull as the one coming out!!

Ach, tough topic.. That happened to me as well
The move of keeping ICS out of the Galaxy S/Advance models and instead get at most android 2.3 on them is just a clever ruse to lure us on the higher-level and more costly models.

Need assistence : fake or not ?

Hi everyone,
I am in the opportunity to swap my S4 with a Note 3, but the person claims this Note 3 is from Korea.
I am wondering if it's fake or not.

It looks real, but I never heared about a Korean version (however Samsung is Korean, so it could very well be a normal version)
Can you guys tell if this is the real deal ?

Why would he want to swap (no offense) it unless something extra is in for him? It's like going from a super top of the range car to a phone that was top of the range 12 months ago...
Surely in Korea he (in a gadget filled world) be able to supply a picture of his phone in action, e.g. with him holding it and with a piece of paper with his email address and yours written on?
tell him to post the pic of benchmark of the phone took from camera from diffrent angle ..not screen shot

Sometimes people buy something and regret it within a few days.
And then they are looking for something simular, but smaller in size.
I have swapped phones many times and always had a very good deal out of it.
However one should always be very aware of fake (Chinese clones) phones.
And since the Chinese are getting better and better in cloning, it's sometimes really hard to see the difference.
I believe I have found the answer in the meantime myself : http://www.needrom.com/mobile/hdc-gt-n9000/
It's indeed a fake.....HDC GT-N9000 with a MTK6589 chipset

Thats fake. The color is off and the battery percentage is a bit smaller than the original.
Also, I would want to see how cpu Z would read the specs of the device, and how it is going to perform under benchmarks.

The other hint should have been the size of the screenshot provided - the clones are not (yet) 1920x1080.
Also, the Samsung dialer codes don't work on the clones. That's a sure way to tell.
In the Play Store an app can be downloaded, called "Genuine Galaxy S4/Note3"
Download ; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hotdog.truth
Can be very usefull as well

Yup, Anything can be cloned to look the part, heck even the software clone itself is close enough until closer inspection. - Golden rule I guess in buying a second hand model.
Make sure you give it a really good test run, test the apps, have a look at the battery and insides to make sure that it says SAMSUNG (A few have SUMSANG believe it or not!) - As mentioned elsewhere, a genuine seller will have no objections to you looking over it. Oh and never ever buy blind - if you ain't seen it or felt it in your hand, it ain't worth the risk of a scam.
And real samsung Note3 is start with SM-N code not GT-N9000 like shown in your system info screenshot...

Hi everyone,
I am in the opportunity to swap my S4 with a Note 3, but the person claims this Note 3 is from Korea.
I am wondering if it's fake or not.
Screenshot he sent me : https://app.box.com/s/enjy529pg077nemwyc5j
It looks real, but I never heared about a Korean version (however Samsung is Korean, so it could very well be a normal version)
Can you guys tell if this is the real deal ?

Thanks for your reply Bro, but I already figured out myself that it's fake.
But for others who get in the same situation and want to know how to recognize a fake Note 3, maybe this post is very helpfull.

Also the HDC clones don't have the Samsung logo on the front.

The one with the Samsung logo isn't the official Note 3 either. Could be a prerelease or whatever, but that is not what it should look like.
Update: when taking a closer look, I actually think it is the first of the Note series. All proportions, the speaker mesh and sensors seems to match that look.
Ya haha the top sensors are wrong, the bottoms too wide and button is too rectangular

Ahhh, It's always fun to see what can be done for <$200 these days.

It's supposed to be as fast as the HTC One X according to one benchmark.
I think it's neat.
there is only one way to do the things right and have peace of mind, get your phones from carriers or authorized dealers, always the real thing, an always covered by warranty, in irder to save money, many get their phones anywhere, literally on the streets sometimes, but, at what cost later?, I have seen many post like, my home button is loose, have a smear on screen, the colors are horrible, the powee button doesnt work, the screen has a gap, etc, etc, all those problems get solved by warranty, that is why you pay the full price, peace of mind

Lol phone of the year 12 months ago, really one of the worst upgrades ever. I just couldn't help myself had to comment,

Got my HTC One M9 last night!

I got one yesterday at the HTC One launch event in Atlanta and I won another one that'll be shipped to me later!
So far I'm loving this phone. A big change from the OnePlus One but I've been an HTC fan boy forever so I'll give them a chance.

Lucky you !
What about smoothness and hiccups?
I read about freezing on a couple of places, but that doesn't sound like the M serie I know.
PhoneArena (using an app) says that the camera opens pretty slow, have you noticed?
How is focus indoor?
Please pop by the battery-thread after a couple of cycles.
Thanks
Got my Gold M9 today with see through back case

The phone gets REAL HOT for no reason so I doubt this phone "fixed" its heat issue.
Gratz on the phone. Sorry to hear about the heat, ive not had a big problem with heat. My m9 only got warm when I was charging and installing apps when it arrived.

I thought the phone comes with headphones... When I looked at the tape on my box it looked tampered with then I noticed there weren't any headphones in the box but after reading on the box what's included it doesn't list headphones
First time HTC!
Hi all, I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me, I am looking at buying a htc to make the move from Apple, I have seen the bad reviews regarding htc hardly making a big step forward in the new m9. First of all will the m9 improve with software updates and secondly do I go for m8 or m9??? Thanks for your help.

The M9 may not be significantly better than the M8, but it is undoubtedly a great phone! Go with what your wallet allows. As for the reviews, I can assure you, the phone will serve you drastically better than any Apple. Also, things will (usually) always improve with software updates.

There's too big difference between M8 and M9 - I'm saying this as former owner of M7 and M8 and current owner of M9 - consequently M8 may not be even considered by you.
The next thing is iPhone or HTC - what to opt for.
These two things are completely different in their concepts and fundamentals - hence the answer to your decision making question is to realize what exactly you require.
HTC stands for 'high_tech_computer' when iPhone stands for 'mobile_phone'..
If you deliberate for some time over the above mentioned you may eventually realize the answer to your choice making question: HTC or iPhone.
As the only thing these two have in common is 'its shape' - that's it..
So simply take time and think what you actually require.
Option 1. HTC: a modern computer, which has a very similar set of features and functions as the other computers around you, furthermore it has similar advantages and disadvantages (!) as the other computers around you due to its concept and design to easily and seamlessly becoming part of computer networks and exchange digital data with the other computers.
Option 2. iPhone. It is a mobile phone. This mobile phone is gorgeous, and it is the best mobile phone on the planet.
Again it was not intended to exchange data to/from the other computers easily - as it is a device of a completely different concept, it is not a computer it is a mobile phone.

The experience should get better in the coming months when more updates are released. Right now the M8 is a safe bet, it's a proven device that we all know is good. The only issue people have with it is the low resolution camera.
Now for the M9 we can see that it's having issues right out of the gate. Camera is iffy, battery life is iffy, and screen is iffy. All of these have the potential to be improved upon with software updates, we just don't know if it's guaranteed to happen. However we'll most likely see updates on all of these issues.
Many people, who needed just a mobile phone, mistakenly, due to the look and shape similarities, bought HTC and then expressing here their dissatisfaction with profound posting various crap about the camera shots, battery usage, SOT, heat emitted by 8 cores of modern CPU, etc - when acquiring a completely wrong implement is simply their own mistake in the first place..
So, please, first learn and understand what you are to exchange your money for..
If I said I could get the m9 for £499 due to discounts from a family member or m8 for £318, would you think any different and again which would u go for? Will the m8 stray running slower the more htc updates phones as my iPhone 5 has?
Era of 32 bit handhelds is over.. again its incredible Dolby Audio sound and perfect metal feel and shape..

I guess the US versions don't get the headphone. On Sprint's product page it only lists charger and cable.
