Hi. Were you able to get this sorted out? I recently bought a HTC Desire 816w in UAE. As I was not aware of this variant, I got really surprised of the Recovery Mode being in Chinese language!?!

I have an HTC Magic running Android 1.6
I would like a newer version, 2.1 or 2.2, however I am aware that Vodafone AU will not be releasing any updates.
Could anyone please point me in the right direction to get a ROM upgrade?
Please bear in mind I am new to this and do not wish to brick my phone!!

By the way... I am now downloading the official HTC Magic ROM with Sense using a serial number posted in these forums.
Given this is not strictly for my phone, although it is still an HTC Magic, will this ROM work? Is this safe to install?

did you get anywhere with this? How did it go? I am in the exact same boat as you, but am not sure how to go about it since htc dont provide an update for the Vodafone branded devices. I believe this is because of the Google logo on the back, and google thinks we shouldnt have sense if it has their logo on it.
Anyway, if you could let me know how you went with it that would be great.

I am currently downloading the new Froyo version for the HTC Legend, I have never rooted/unlocked the phone, it is kind of new, only a couple of weeks old (purchased in Vodafone, Spain, but using it in Tigo, Colombia).
So, my question is, If i install this new version, do i need to unlock it again? i mean, purchase another unlock code? Or it just continue working normally?
What do you think guys?

so i download it the update to my htc hd2....but im still having problems and i dont see a difference how can i be sure if i did the update correctly...can you tell how to find that out...?

i have an Desire HD and since a week the update should be available for the german t-mobile branded DHD. But when I start searching for it over the update function it only shows "proofing" or "prüfen" how it`s called in german.
Any ideas how to fix it except make a complete hardreset?
Is your phone rooted? On which firmware version are you atm?

It is not rooted and the last official t-mobile branded rom is on the device. I have to take a look on it but I don`t have the device here right now.
Tried to update, too. Last wednesday I flashed my DHD back to stock Froyo, because I wanted to give it back to the shop for warranty xD(of course antenna ). So, in this case I tried to update, but no chance xD. Now I'm back on RCmix3D.
German T-Mobile Gingerbread seems to be bad :/. Read some things about phone crashes and force close.
