Please help! Unable to connect to Wifi. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay so I have a galaxy s4 which happens to enjoy wifi a few days ago. Suddenly, I cannot connect to my wifi network and it always tries to connect but just doesn't push through. I already did the reset thing, and I also reset my router a couple of times and still no luck. Can anyone please help?

Hi,
What Type of S4?
What rom?
Any updates lately?

See if a app in the play store will help. It's called "wifi fixer"

Are you root ?
Check this:
Go to /system
Open the built.prop
search for ro.securestorage.support
If it says true , change to false
Save and reboot

Hi,
did you try to install wifi connections from zero ?
In your configured wifi networks , enterr the wifi settings by pressing for a few seconds , select modify network config then select show advanced options and disable proxy.

[Q] *#*#4636#*#* not working

Hey i want to change my phone to WCDMA Preferred by using *#*#4636#*#* but when i am trying to use nothing happens?
'Hidden menu" on our note 3 is not enabled...
you need to be rooted...
And you'll need Root Explorer...
Go to file EFS/Carrier/hiddenmenu
Open with root explorer text editor
You will see the word "OFF"
Delete and type in "ON"
Use capital letters
Hit the back button "you have made changes to this file do you wish to save?"
Click yes
Reboot
You now have your hidden menu but I don't know if all the codes are the same as previous Samsung devices... I don't mess with it to much... I just used it to turn off the wifi power saving mode.

Is there any way to access it without rooting the device?
Not anything that I know of...
If you go to a Best Buy store when the Samsung specialist is working... they are supposed to be able to plug in and enable that menu to do their tests before giving you a warranty claim... maybe if you found one of those dudes and bought him a beer?

I had the same problem, the folders did not exist. I did a search for hiddenmenu and it found nothing. Then I checked the EFS folder again and everything magically appeared.
Rooted, using Hyperdrive ROM

No need to enable the HiddenMenu anymore.
You can use 'Phone INFO ★Samsung★' app --> go to 'Secret Codes' menu, or use 'Shortcut Master' app --> go to 'Secret Code Explorer' menu to launch the secret codes (ROOT is required).

D802 getting 4g to work

Heya.
Recently some networks in my country started supporting lte. Anyway i tried enabling it on my phone:
I tried those 2 numbers:
*#*#4633#*#*
3845#*802#
In both of them I can change the setting and I see its working, but when I go to mobile network settings it gets reset and the option is not shown there. I can actually see the network H sign disappearing+reappearing when I go to the settings...
I tried restarting the phone, no help.
How can I get my settings to not reset each time?
Thanks!

If you have root go into system/app and first back up and then delete lteconfigs apk and lteconfigs odex and that should make lte an option in settings

Hey, thanks for replying.
I see the lteconfigs.apk but not the lteconfigs.odex there
[edit]
I deleted just the apk and the option appeared as you stated. Is it enough?

Sm-c115l work as sm-c115 world

It may some of us need to have K zoom SM-C115 world on the Zoom 2 SM-C115L, then please followings:
1. Flash by ODIN system file from the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwmQ3F48xaJjaHV1VV9xRmVwTFU/view?usp=sharing
2. Phone will auto reboot.
Everything is OK, except Wifi lost password after every restart, so you could:
3. Flash by ODIN TWRP recovery (including Supersu installer) from the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwmQ3F48xaJjMWdXVWJUUDZrX0k/view?usp=sharing --> auto restart phone --> connect to internet to install Supersu --> restart --> ROOTED.
4. Copy “build.prop” from the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwmQ3F48xaJjVHhxdFd6MkpCOVE/view?usp=sharing --> Replace the existing one in …/system/ (set permission for the new “build.prop”)
5. Boot into recovery (press volume + and home and power button) --> wipe phone --> restart the phone.
YOU ARE DONE, YOUR PHONE BECOME SAMSUNG K ZOOM SM-C115
GOOD LUCK!
Thanks to 5up.vn for TWRP recovery

The wifi password lost after every restart, then you have to root your device to replace new build.prop for the existing one --> everything is ok!
hmm, i was install (fleshing) this it was work but can't recive any call signal can u check that?
Many thanks.
I've done it, but can you tell me if your 4G still working after ?
I'm now unable to run 4G
I'm wondering if it also able to get 4G+ on it ?
Tks
After Replace last step
After Last step .Restart with nothing show on screen
video
can you make a video to show how to do this installation...
Thanks for the post. It saved a lot of time of mine. But I think there is a minor flaw in the instruction. In No.3 the does not get rooted as you described, you have to install SuperSU binary to get root access. Otherwise, everything is good.
I'm still facing one problem though. When I insert a new SIM or restart my device I can not make calls or receive SMS untill I make random switchings in Settings> More networks> Mobile networks> Network mode.
And I can't turn off Haptic Feedback. Any possible solution???

[Q] VERY Strange WIFI Issue

OK i seem to have this extremely bizzare wifi issue.
I can connect to wifi access points fine, if i turn off wifi and turn it back on i am unable to auto connect and have to re-enter credentials for it to connect. Before doing so i checked my wifi ap to see if my ap were listed and they were not.
If i re-enter everything is fine but having to do this to wifi ap is annoying. After i have entered and check the wifi ap files i can see the credentials are saved etc.
If i do not re-enter the credentials and restart the phone with wifi enabled it connects to AP fine.
If i leave wifi connected and connect to to wifi aps that require certs its fine also without the need to re-enter creds.
At first i thought maybe i had a corruption in the wifi config files but i dont see any, no duplicate aps at all, no fancy characters i can see.
Does anyone have any thoughts as my wifi config with aps is many years old and has a massive amount of APs listed.
It doesnt matter what ROM i try as soon as i restore all my APs the issues start, is there a way to bulk export, wipe wifi aps and re-import them all again?
Do wifi aps with spaces in or length cause issues with 5.1.1?
1 root ur phone if you are unrooted 2 download any build prop editor from playstore 3 change this line ro.securestorage.support=true to false in /system/build.prop 4 if it doesnt work try a different build prop editor cz the changes might not be sticking 5) hit the thanks button if it helped

No hotspot on ATT Unlocked LG G6

Hello guys,
Im a bit desperate, when I try to enable mobile hotspot on my ATT Unlocked LG G6 (H871) it says auth failed and just won't share internet connection not thru wifi nor USB cable.
Please I will really appreciate your help, I need to work with my computer all the time using this function.
Thank you
An 871 may be carrier-unlocked, but it is not bootloader-unlocked. You can't root or install a different ROM, so you're stuck with AT&T's stock ROM; and if they don't have hotspot enabled in their build, there's nothing you can do about it as far as I know. Chances are their build is still trying to phone home to the carrier to check if you have hotspot in your data plan.

There are a bunch of third party tethering apps in Play Store, maybe you should try one of those.
Just had this same issue and found a solution, check the settings database editor mentioned here, as it worked on my at&t unlocked g6

Good to know.
1. Download "Settings Database Editor" at the playstore. The icon is a blue cog with red background.
2. Make sure youre in the "settings table" list
3. Find "tether_entitlement_check_state" then set it to "0".
Exit, should be working, if not, try a reboot.
