[Q] *#*#4636#*#* not working - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey i want to change my phone to WCDMA Preferred by using *#*#4636#*#* but when i am trying to use nothing happens?

'Hidden menu" on our note 3 is not enabled...
you need to be rooted...
And you'll need Root Explorer...
Go to file EFS/Carrier/hiddenmenu
Open with root explorer text editor
You will see the word "OFF"
Delete and type in "ON"
Use capital letters
Hit the back button "you have made changes to this file do you wish to save?"
Click yes
Reboot
You now have your hidden menu but I don't know if all the codes are the same as previous Samsung devices... I don't mess with it to much... I just used it to turn off the wifi power saving mode.

Is there any way to access it without rooting the device?

Not anything that I know of...
If you go to a Best Buy store when the Samsung specialist is working... they are supposed to be able to plug in and enable that menu to do their tests before giving you a warranty claim... maybe if you found one of those dudes and bought him a beer?

Yes rooted, omega 4.0 mj7

I had the same problem, the folders did not exist. I did a search for hiddenmenu and it found nothing. Then I checked the EFS folder again and everything magically appeared.
Rooted, using Hyperdrive ROM

No need to enable the HiddenMenu anymore.
You can use 'Phone INFO ★Samsung★' app --> go to 'Secret Codes' menu, or use 'Shortcut Master' app --> go to 'Secret Code Explorer' menu to launch the secret codes (ROOT is required).

Verizon Galaxy Note 3 - Accessing Hidden Menus

I had run into this issue previously and thought this might help those who are looking to punch in these codes and check out the hidden menus.
First off, I am on a Verizon Note 3 and I'm rooted.
By default, Verizon does not enable the hidden menus. In order to enable them, you'll have to use Root Explorer or Root Browser in ROM Toolbox and navigate to /efs/carrier. Then you'll want to edit the HiddenMenu file so that it says ON instead of OFF. Make sure you use capital letters.
After that, reboot, and you should be able to start punching in codes from your dialer.
Here's a link to more codes that may work for your handset: http://rumorscity.com/2013/09/26/samsung-galaxy-note-3-secret-codes/
On a side note, anyone ever use the Self Test hidden menu and try the Melody/Speaker test? What song is that...?

D802 getting 4g to work

Heya.
Recently some networks in my country started supporting lte. Anyway i tried enabling it on my phone:
I tried those 2 numbers:
*#*#4633#*#*
3845#*802#
In both of them I can change the setting and I see its working, but when I go to mobile network settings it gets reset and the option is not shown there. I can actually see the network H sign disappearing+reappearing when I go to the settings...
I tried restarting the phone, no help.
How can I get my settings to not reset each time?
Thanks!

If you have root go into system/app and first back up and then delete lteconfigs apk and lteconfigs odex and that should make lte an option in settings

Hey, thanks for replying.
I see the lteconfigs.apk but not the lteconfigs.odex there

I deleted just the apk and the option appeared as you stated. Is it enough?

[Q] How to fix "SIM Card is from an unknown source"

Hello,
I have recently purchased a Galaxy s5 in USA.
It's a unlocked version and I just noticed that I get an error that says "SIM Card is from an unknown source",
Even though my SIM works fine I still get that error, probably because its Verizon's version.
Now my question is how do I fix it ? I read around and it seems like I have to change the name of the following app?
"vzwphoneservice.apk" to "vzwphoneservice.apk.bak"
-Located at System/priv-app ?
Now I tried finding this specific file and I couldn't.
However, I have another file named VZWAPNService.apk but once I try to change the name of it I get an error that says "Access Denied"
Thank you.
anyone?
have u got root ?

You have to root the device to do this.
If your device has been rooted, you should grant root permission for the file explorer app that you used to rename the system file.

You can use ES File Explorer app, open Menu > Tools > Root Explorer = ON, then try again.

Can you show the screenshot when you get that error message?
In order to get to know this error message comes from what app, try the following:
Install Shortcut Master app, open Menu > Capture Shortcut > Manually Capture. When the error message is being shown, scroll down the notification bar, tap on the 'Capture Shortcut' and show me what you get?

Hello, so I tried using shorcut master like you suggested.. I couldn't really find the information you wanted..
But here's a screenshot of that notification : http://i.hizliresim.com/R6oq9R.png
However, I found out that it has something to do with "setup wizard", I clicked on "force stop" (once you hold your finger on that notification you can click app info, then it takes you to setup wizard)
AND suddenly, this notification disappeared but I also found out that it'll pop up again on my notifications once I restart my phone.
Anyone

- Install App Disabler: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nebkat.appdisabler
- Run the app and find the list for Verizon Setup Wizard. Disable that app.

Thank you so much, it worked =)
But just out of curiosity, there's nothing to be worried about right? I don't want to see that some feature in my phone got disabled because of that.
All I want is to get rid of this message and that's it, its perfect.

I'm not sure, but this method has been reported working fine. Anyway it is more safer than renaming the file, as you wanted to do. And you can always enable it again if need.
Just curiously, is your phone fully unlocked?
Can you install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > scroll down to 7465625 and tap to launch?
(7465625 is a secret code for checking SIM LOCK).
Thanks.

Before hand i am very sorry that I bump an old thread however, this pertains to this and i can't find any info on my current issue and following you has got me the farthest along with my problem.
My galaxy note 4 reads no service, so I tried the *#0011# approach (no root) could not find the menu, with the input method
Then I rooted it and used your app and was now able to access the menu.
However I still can not find the run ping test option.
My firmware is version 5.1.1
Model: SM-N910T

No hotspot on ATT Unlocked LG G6

Hello guys,
Im a bit desperate, when I try to enable mobile hotspot on my ATT Unlocked LG G6 (H871) it says auth failed and just won't share internet connection not thru wifi nor USB cable.
Please I will really appreciate your help, I need to work with my computer all the time using this function.
Thank you
An 871 may be carrier-unlocked, but it is not bootloader-unlocked. You can't root or install a different ROM, so you're stuck with AT&T's stock ROM; and if they don't have hotspot enabled in their build, there's nothing you can do about it as far as I know. Chances are their build is still trying to phone home to the carrier to check if you have hotspot in your data plan.

Good to know.
1. Download "Settings Database Editor" at the playstore. The icon is a blue cog with red background.
2. Make sure youre in the "settings table" list
3. Find "tether_entitlement_check_state" then set it to "0".
Exit, should be working, if not, try a reboot.
