SPRINT (SMG900P) WORKING!!! sim unlock work around - Sprint Galaxy S 5 General

Hello,
I have managed to unlock my SM900P (Sprint Galaxy S5) to use my Verizon sim. I only have 3G capabilities at the moment, unless someone knows how to activate the 4G or LTE. I will post what I did to get my Verizon sim to work. The phone is rooted and has the MOAR rom installed.
Here are the tools that I used (AND BIG THANKS to all the developers that helped)
BusyBox Free
SuperSu
Shortcut Master
Please be patient with me. I am about to go through my phone and post the settings I made step by step.

I reset the phone to get the exact steps. The first time I did it I worked 8hrs straight and didn't know the exact change that allowed the network connection. I am working on it and should have to up no later than tonight.

Hmm didnt see that your right. I have to see this, my GS5 has been sitting here with a bad esn due to early termination from the previous owner and honestly I dont use it like I use my LG G2 because of that.

UPDATE
Still tracking down what triggers the SHA256 to turn off so that it would read my sim. I did place my sim back into my GSIII so I can have service in the mean time but my sim is locked to 3G. Something happened to the sim when fiddling around with the settings on the S5.
For those who want to play around and see if they can find the trigger all you have to do is have: Root, SuperSU, BusyBox, and Shortcut Master Lite installed. Allow Shortcut Master root privileges and click menu Secret Code Explorer and go through the codes one by one.
Like I said im still trying to find out what exactly triggered the SHA256 to turn off.
I see there are some skeptics posting comments, just feel free to post a different unlock method if your not happy with waiting on this one!

Hey,
I did not have to enter any unlock codes or NY codes for that matter. I just went thru each code, opened it up and see what is had to offer and see what I could change.

Since your in the vibrant section, I'm going to assume your on t mobile. tmo will give you the codes for free. Also there is an app in the market for sgs unlocking, also free. There are also numerous threads here an how to do it manually, but I'm going to assume that you can't find them because if you had googled how to unlock sgs vibrant you would already know all that I said above.
Beware of angry gingerbread man
I made some research and its call sgs unlocker, but it doesnt do anything, I will keep looking on the forum for more answers, but if you could help me a bit more will be fine , by the way thx for the fast response
Call or chat T-Mobile support and tell them you are traveling out of the country and want an unlock code. They will e-mail it to you.

Have you tried the Galaxy_S unlock by helroz on the market? Works great for me but remember to backup your EFS so you don't lose your IEME number.
The other one is Samsung Unlock Tool and it doesn't work for me.

SM-G900V working on T-Mobile!

So i just bought a Verizon S5 and it wasn't activated on Verizon yet and i put my T-mobile sim card in it and its working fine, its been a whole day now and its still working fine (data, calls, texting) apart from the notification "The sim card is from an unknown source".
Has anyone else tried it?
This is great for people that want to buy the bootloader locked phone and use on T-Mobile instead of buying the T-Mobile bootloader unlocked phone. Why anyone would want to do that, though...

I think only Band 4 LTE works. You must be in an area that has it. That was the case with most 4G LTE phones with Band 4. I think the droid maxx was in the same boat. Now if it was the other way around that would be super.
I've also seen people using Verizon's note 3, Galaxy S4 and S3 on T-mobile with no problem or modification.
So the phone is considered locked or unlocked in this case? could it be that Verizon isn't paying too much attention to locking their devices in the US like before?

Agreed but, it's law after contract is up to unlock... I was thinking, someone should buy the phone cash in hand and get a no contact deal and force them to unlock it. Problem solved...
My Verizon S5 seems to not work on T-Mobile. I have a circle with a line going through it at the top. I've tried setting it to global and gsm and even added the T-Mobile APN setting still no dice. Any solutions?
They are SIM unlocked.
meaning theoretically you can throw in any SIM card from any carrier as long as your device supports it, and it should work without modifications.
Are these sim unlocked for all bands supported by this device? Including 700 mhz band 13??
I need to use this device for the Entel network.

If you want to remove the Sim card notification. Use titanium backup to freeze or Uninstall the "setup" app. The notification will instantly be removed.
All Verizon phones with LTE made after around 2013 are unlocked. It's due to fcc agreement for a lte band iirc.
What does them being unlocked mean? I can see in the bootloader that it is unlocked but i can do nothing with that phone. I've paid a couple of sites to get the unlock for me and they also can do nothing. Although "unlocked " it will not let me put a recovery in it, can not root it, can not put a sim other than vetizon un it. I want to change it to sprint but am able to do nothing with it.

If your using a Verizon Galaxy S5 with a T-mobile sim like me. You just need to install a t-mobile rom and it will do everything a tmobile GS5 will do including wifi calling wifi teather 4g 3g edge ect... also the volte works. Verizon roms will give you bugs like 1x no servive when in a call or it wont let you change the voicemail number and kick you out of calls or give you a no sim error every time you hang up a call the list goes on and on. I'm using Twisted loli from the t-mobile section and it works perfect. If your already rooted Just install the 5.0 rom of your choice and boot directly to download mode then install the Vzw OC4 firmware only file with odin and thats it! Let it boot and you will now have a tmobile phone.
get the firmware here and make sure you only use the RETAIL FIRMWARE ONLY file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880

Apologies, but I am trying to upgrade my GS5 to lolli (using a Tmo sim in a Vzw GS5) and I was hoping you could be a little more clear in your instructions. (Still kind of a newb here). I have root, safestrap, etc. if you could just list out a little more detailed in steps what needs to be done that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance and sorry for not understanding so easily.

I'm using Twisted V7 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo.../rom-twi5ted-lollipop-5-0-v1-deviant-t3037766
Download and save it to your SD card.
Then go here and download the OC4 Retail Firmware Only file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880
Save it to your desktop.
Boot to SafeStrap or Flashfire and do a wipe for clean install. Then install the downloaded rom like normal.
After it installs re-boot directly to Download Mode and plug your phone to your computer (if using FlashFire you need to select reboot to download mode before you flash or you'll have to do it manually after an unsuccessful boot)
Open Odin and click AP. Browse for the OC4 Retail Firmware Only file you saved and click start.
After a few seconds the process will complete and your phone will re-boot at that point you are done and can unplug from the computer.
Give the phone a few minutes to boot. Mine took about 5 minutes. That's it.

[Q] Fastboot, bootloader, root, simunlock (305SH - Aquos Crystal Sharp phone)

Hello,
I ordered this great Crystal phone form Japan, and , of course, it is locked. It is a beautiful item but not useful locked..
I don't arrive to root it (try a lot of Tools for 4.4.2), neither reboot it in bootloader mode (?), neither use fastboot (waiting devices)...etc.. and neither unlock ! (just recovery mode ("+" & Power On) with only a small menu Erase/Cancel)
My knowledge is poor about these subjects, I'm a "small" developer ..
Someone can help me/us ?
Thank you
I want to order it too.. but I din't find any clue about how to unlock it. So any help will be apreciated.
I need root so bad for the Wi-Fi tether hopefully we get it soon for this amazing phone.

I have the boost model and was hoping something was going to happen. Think sprint version would be any different concerning root with to boost?
Sent from my 306SH using XDA Free mobile app
Doubt if a US Version (306SH) can be used on a Japanese handset (305SH) and vice versa. The US one is CDMA while the Japanese one is GSM, usually this means the radio file will be incompatible.
Would be awesome if someone could manage to unlock the 305SH, but it won't be an easy task. Looking forward to it though. At the mean time, I am comfortable using it as an Android counterpart of iPod Touch
J Williams on YouTube confirmed boost mobile version to be semi unlocked he tested with T-Mobile Sim ..incoming calls and text had to be routed through google voice but outgoing calls text and data worked fine
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Free mobile app
I have a T-Mobile phone but it's a micro sim, not nano, which is needed. Wish I could try on the Sprint version which I have.
Cut it down to a nano
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Free mobile app
Then it won't work with the phone I have.
give up
J. Williams is misinforming you guys. Inserting the tmobile sim card doesn't do anything(i've already tried it).. the phone was still using the CDMA of boost! .. i hope someone can unlock this.. this is such a beautiful phone in person!..

Here's a conversion kit that somebody made for Verizon Moto phones running android:
http://www.internauta37.altervista.org/how-and-patch-fully-enable-gsm-verizon-cdma-phones-android
I was thinking that since there's a sim card slot we could modify the build.prop (as the link above suggests) for the cdma variants to convert the phone to gsm? I really want this phone, but I'm on At&t with the Oneplus One and I really don't want to pay for two different services
Has any of you guys tried all standard rooting tools?
towelroot, etc...
Is there anyway to flash docomo rom on this one?(vice-versa)
This thing has snapdragon 400, which definetally has gsm bands, we just need to get to them,
i'm 100% confident we can get it to work with all the carriers, IF it can be rooted.

Yes, I have tried a lot of tools: nothing.
Give me a list of tools, I can check and try what you want.

How to root the T-Mobile Note 7 using the sprint leaked firmware.

Here's how you do it: Follow the EXACT SAME GUIDE FROM THE SPRINT NOTE 7 SECTION!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-note-7/how-to/root-super-leaky-bros-sprint-galaxy-t3447202
To get LTE to work again just add the T-Mobile APN (not that hard).
Also, you might want to freeze all the "Sprint OMADM" packages with titanium backup once you're rooted (will cause less of a hassle everytime you boot. I understand the devs in the "all things root" thread are holding this from you because they want to fix wifi calling but I think giving you root at all will tie you over for now. Also, I'm having problems downloading the gear VR apps with this so it's related to following this tutorial.
Thank you so much to the developers who made this possible for the Sprint note 7 and for everyone who brought this to the other variants (the T-Mobile note 7 was the easiest imo). It's a little funny to think that this whole time it was this easy and we could've been rooted all along. *If you really need the T-Mobile firmware rooted so you can enjoy wifi calling I've been working on something for a few hours but it's not ready.*
T-Mobile APN: https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings/t-mobile-apn-settings/
Edit: YouTube video added.
Here's the APN information for T-Mobile if you need it.
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-17581
I thought it was going to be a quick video tutorial
If you're wondering why the model number ends with a "P" is because it's sprint firmware, silly. Your model number will appear as that. In the video you can see I am on T-Mobile. Yes, I do have a T-Mobile note 7. You can find some of my posts of me waiting for my note 7 in Charlie's waiting room thread.

It's literally the same thing as rooting the sprint note 7 except you need to add your APN and disable a few packages. Not that hard.

Uh, this is from freeza? It's his thread that you are following but for the sprint note 7. It turns out it flashes perfectly on the T-Mobile note 7 with no problems and you can add the T-Mobile APN to fix LTE (that's what worked for me).
He leaked the firmware, we're toying with his work (well I barely did anything as you didn't need to do much different for the T-Mobile variant). But yes, I can see why you'd wait for the official ONLY if it is based off of T-Mobile firmware.

More detailed thread will come tomorrow. I just needed to get the main idea on how to root this variant out there. I'll also have a little video tutorial.

Did you use Samsung backup? I used to be so accustomed to Titanium Backup on my older phones.

I actually just backed up all my pictures and videos manually. I didn't need any app data saved.

It's fine, it's root. Better than nothing. You can always use a Google voice number for the meantime if you really want to. We can always make a T-Mobile flashable ROM and flash it with FlashFire.

You need to make a folder called "sun7". Then extract all the contents of the zip you download into that folder. Wherever ADB is installed that folder needs to be in the same directory. Or if ADB is not in the same location provide the path.
Example: adb.exe push C:\pathtofilehere /directory/guide/tellsyouto/pushfoldercontentsto

Yes, G550T1 VARIANT can be network unlocked. I flashed the CP field in Odin with a stock Rom (a piece of it, not AP, BL, or CSC or .pit) and then used the app that's usually in a MetroPCS folder. Purple and has a key hole on the icon. Luckily, metro approved it and unlocked it.. I doubt you still need this information knowing post is like 8 months old but, I will upload the necessary files tonight and post a link. Sure this well help another person curious of the same thing one day.. hope I've helped

There is a built in apl thzt unlocks the phone within 1 min.
As long as you had service on it for a certain amount of time with metro pcs.
Not sure about any other carrierz.
Look in your device apps. Its not hidden.
